IN_CALL pin output problem - MDA III, XDA III, PDA2k, 9090 General

Hi,
Did any DIY - stuff developer actually measured what BA's IN_CALL pin does ?
According to wiki's connectors page, it should source +5V when call is in progress.
Mine doesn't, regardless of CAR_ON and GND/SENSE state.
I don't own any carkit (likle THB) to test, whether it knows that phone is in call.
Currently, i can't get out any signal desribing that my BA is in call. (Tried diffrent ROMs with and without installing THB carkit patch [wavedev.dll replacement] )
Please help. I don't know if I'm doing something wrong, or my BA's damaged.

speakerphone activation via connector

Does anyone know if it is possible to activate the internal speakerphone of the XDA I-III/SPV etc devices by means of a contact on the connector pins. Bridge some pins and the speakerphone mode gets launched? Thanks
well not using the head set
maybe if using the buttom connector and a program which use the com port to remote cntrl the device but you could get it to do pretty much what you wanted
How? Activate Speakerphone through Remote Control?
I dont't quite understand...
...if one can get it into speakerphone mode through remote Control, one should also be able to do it programmatically. Any idea?
sure
pin 19 to GND activates speakerphone mode

PIN 20 to GND??????????
Are you sure?
Did you try it?
Sounds rather like killing the device...Pin 20 is VCC, pulling it to ground doesn't make sense...

Problems pairing with GPS

Hi,
I had an old ROM release on my Qtek 9090 and with it my GPS Bluetooth device worked fine.
Yesterday I got myself a Parrot EasyDrive and it would not connect to my Qtek 9090. It would however work fine with my 2 Nokias.
So I decided to finally (after one year) upgrade my Qtek and I used the 1.42 ROM from this site.
No the Parrot EasyDrive works fine, but my GPS receiver has this annoying problem: whenever I want to use the GPS receiver, the pairing window opens up, asking for the passkey (1234). The problem is, that it won't keep it, no matter what I do.
I tried to remove the GPS-Device in the Bluetooth manager and I deleted the pairing partnership. Then I made a new connection with pairing, etc.
After turning Bluetooth off, the pairing information is lost.
Meanwhile, the Parrot Easy Drive carkit works fine.
Any suggestions?
Cheers,
vma
Well, I ended up solving the problem myself...
While messing with the registry to remove the operator branded dialpad of the new ROM I installed, I managed to mess up my Qtek 9090 and lost the screen alignment. Because of that, I could not access the lower part of the screen anymore, thus it became impossible to realign the screen.
As stupid as it might seem, I had to do a hardreset at end, otherwise the device was useless (Side-question: is there any shortcut to get the screen alignment for the Blue Angel?).
After doing the hardreset and after re-installing all applications again, I paired both the carkit and the GPS receiver without problems.
It seems that if the pairing goes wrong the first time, one has problems afterwards. Would be nice to know how to really reset all connections without having to do a hardreset.
For all of you that went through the pain of reading my two posts:
I purchased an Parrot EasyDrive carkit, which was on sale for 35 Euro. It is a device that plugs into the carlighter and that has voice recognition.
I then passed new cables for Ground and 12V from the lighter to under the steering wheel and attached them to the speaker part of the carkit.
The result is a proper Bluetooth carkit with voice recognition (you say "telephone" and then the name and the carkit dials the number on the phone - all contacts have to be send one by one from the phone's contact list through Bluetooth and then you train the name twice - memory holds 200 contacts), where you just see the little knob with the two buttons - for just 35 Euro!
I say, that's an excellent deal!
Cheers,
vma

Attention registry hackers...

Can anyone help me with this:
I have always used my PPC's in my car connected to an external audio jack via a 3.5mm headphone connection. Not only did I use this for music, but it also allowed me use my car stereo to hear my callers much louder than the speakerphone was capable and still let me to use the built-in mic of the PPC to talk back.
Enter my Artemis and it's proprietary mini-usb audio jack...
I purchased the HTC mini-usb to 3.5mm adapter from expansys so that I could continue to use my in-car 3.5mm connection. Works great for music and TomTom (Austin Powers is scary loud now when he tells me to turn left!) BUT the built-in microphone in the Artemis seems to be disabled whenever the adapter is inserted in the mini-usb jack! I can't use Voicecommand with it inserted and my callers can't hear me until I pull out the adapter - which then takes away my nice loud car stereo to hear them!!!
Presumably, the disabling of the mic is because the mic in the included headset is expected to be used for calls when the audio jack is occupied. I know my configuration is not "standard," but it works (or worked) great for me and I would love to be able to continue to operate this way.
My question is: can anyone tell me which registry values control when the built-in mic is disabled? There must be a value that tells the Artemis to shut off the built-in mic when the headset is plugged in. I would love to change this so that the configuration I described above will work for me again. I have some trepidation about tinkering with my registry too much when I don't have that much experience with it. I hope there is some registry guru out there that will take pity on me and take on this challenge (if it's even possible).
Thanks in advance!
You'll have problems with something like this... I'd assume that it'll work similarly to the headset antenna registry entry, where on connection of the headset a key relating to the FM Radio software is changed from a 0 to a 1 allowing the application to launch.
There are one of 2 outcomes for you though unless you want to get crafty with a button or something to make the changes for you....
1 - Although you'll be able to change the reg setting, plugin in the usb cable or disconnecting it will simply reset the key,
2 - You'll permanently change it and if you want to use anything other than the handset mic you'll need to undo the change.
I'd say more than likely if it a dymanic key though and triggered by connection or disconnection of the usb cable then option 1 will take effect. I'm guessing that you'll need a button (software or hardware assigned) to control this properly.
Good Luck!
I'm too lazy to read.
Check the state and notification broker. Otherwise you'll probably have to directly interface with the audio driver.

Me too...?
Hi all,
I too want this fix, using the microphone whilst drawing off the audio feed for my vehicle stereo. Can it not be done with a soldering iron & external mic wired into the dongle adaptor?
Thanks Paul

Here is an adapter with microphone...
I suggest hacking a handsfree and making your own jack for the car. this is my plan soon!
Hi All,
I have the same problem with my HTC Diamond. Did anyone have a fix for this yet? As i do not mind changing the registry or if someone wanted to make a little program that would do this i would be more then happy to donate for all your troubles.. I'm unable to hack my fm transmitter as it is a holder aswell... see picture
Anyone with a concrete solution?
This seems to be a hot topic! Are we really sure that adapters with mic are not readily available?
If you're au fait with hardware hacking, haret can probably tell you which interrupts are being used and you can write a solution to poll the irqs that way.

There is nothing to do with Registry Hacking or Softwares in your case...

There is so many ways of soldering of wires (Line IN & Line OUT) using a mini usb to made your PDA more compact...
The built-in microphone in the Artemis or Any other HTC Devices sure have to be disabled whenever the adapter is inserted in the mini-usb jack for the soldering of 2 Line-Out (Audio-Out Left & Right) and 1 Line-In (Audio-In/Microphone) Example: Headset that come with your PDA.
Unless HTC going to make one mini-usb to two cables, one for 3.5mm adapter for headphone and another to Mic.jack or a Microphone itself.
This is quite difficult for HTC to custom a cable or jack for individual need.
I think you have to DIY for your need in this case:
Use the headset that come with your Artemis, the one that have a Mic and mini-usb jack...
Cut away the left & right earphone, soldering the two cables into a 3.5 jack (male or female)
Both this jacks-Male or Female can be found in electronic spare-part shop anywhere.
I'm new in this forum... please cc this Thread to me 'thru Private Messages, so that i can give further help and keep track how the going you guys out there...

[Q] phone starts calling automatically

When I plug in my earphones my phone starts to call the last person I spoke to. This happens a couple of times in a row and then it stops and I can watch video or play music without interruption. Does anyone have an idea what this is and how I can fix it?
Had the same problem here ....Can not figure it out either. I have the HTC headset that connects directly into the usb jack'. Sometimes it will happen constantly and other times never happen. I noticed though when it starts to happen and I soft reset the phone it seems to stop the issue for a while. I have two different headsets and the same thing happens to both. But it definitely only happens when there is a headset in use.
I've had this happen a few times (just a couple times over the course of a year), while plugging in the HTC adapter that came with the Tilt 2, that looked like this:
http://www.amazon.com/Mini-USB-Headset-Adapter-2-5mm-3-5mm/dp/B002HNTHKM
I use this adapter in the car, to charge the phone and connect the audio to my car stereo via the 3.5mm jack.
With this same setup, I've also randomly (just a few times also) received a message on the phone's screen to pick the output type (NTSC or PAL) for the video out adapter (when obviously, there is no video out adapter connected).
It APPEARS (not certain) that the times that my phone dialed itself, the adapter was not quite properly seated in the phone's ext-USB jack. Since the HTC headphones have the ability to place calls, I'm thinking there is something going on with the ext-USB jack and plug (short circuit, fouled connection, etc.), where it thinks you are pressing the call button on the HTC headset.
I've seen similar posts on these forums, where the video-out message was possibly traced back to bent pins on the ext-USB jack. Maybe you have a similar issue. Its possible you have bent/damaged pins on the ext-USB jack on your phone, of on the headset plug. Try examining the headset plug, and the ext-USB jack on the phone for broken, missing pins, etc. If possible, try a different HTC headset, and see if the issue persists.
I am currently having this issue and it also only happens when the adapter is plugged into my phone. So does that mean the connection on the adapter could be defective? Is there a way to disable automatic calling from the earphones?

This is often an issue with the adapter or headset you are using. Try another one. Its possible the pins in the phone's ExtUSB socket are bent/damaged. There was a similar thread about this a little while ago. The OP tried a different headset, and it solved his issue.

[Q] Carpanel + USB + Speakerphone problem

I'm having a strange problem, i tried google for it, and found something about some USB cables are ment for cars, and has a 5th pin or something, and it activates the care panel automatically if you place your USB cable inside the phone.
Now i've deactivated that because it was pestering me, but now i've gone to have another problem instead...
Everytime i call or someone calls, the phone automatically answers the call like if i we're using a bluetooth headset (which i don't atm), and Speaker phone is always on when i call and receive calls..
Re-flashing rom doesn't fix that, i've tried re calibrating the g-sensor, but nothing works.. i've gone thrue the settings, but can't find a solution on my own, what can i do?.. Help anyone?... Its giving me grey hair, its the same problem on all roms..
