I have purchased a plantronics pulsar headset (It has incredible sound quality and I highly recomend it) and the headset profile paired with my k-jam fine, but I can't get the other profile to work. I don't remember what the profile is called. The pulsar has track foward and reverse buttons that I am looking to use with Windows media player. I also would like to access the internet connection from my k-jam on my laptop through bluetooth. If anyone has had any experience with this or has any references I would appreciate it.

As far as the device goes, are you looking for the term Audio/Video Remote Control Profile (AVRCP), which enables your BT headset to send commands to change tracks, alter volume, pause/play, and stop, depending on available buttons and applications. The audio transmission protocol is called Advanced Audio Distribution Profile (A2DP), which allows for transmission of SBC, MP1/2/3, and AAC encoded transmissions to headsets for audio listening pleasure. Now about the internet connection, there's a site I want you to check out so you can make sure your settings are in tune with TMo's services. http://www.taniwha.org.uk/gprs.html Now I would like to point out right now, that the "Non contract" settings, apply to Sidekick data connections, and Tmo T-Zones services, meaning, use these settings if you have either of those data plans. (SK is $20 and T-Zones is $5) And to use the "Internet" service, you will need to call into customer care and get "T-Mobile TotalInternet" added to your plan, to be able to use these settings. I would also like to point out that on "Internet" the HTTP proxy settings are in fact OPTIONAL, they just expedite your connection and fetch data for you faster, but if you want to do stuff besides browse the net, like listen to a low bitrate audio stream on iTunes or Winamp, you will need to -NOT- use the proxies as they block all other ports besides 80, 81, and 8080 from being used.

When you say proxy setting you don't mean accessing port 80 with t-zones do you? That used to be possible, but I thought they turned it off? As far as bluetooth goes, do you have any idea how I would pair my headset with my k-jam. The normal method of pairing just allows me to pair my headphones as a headset, not as headphones. The other thing I would like to do is use my k-jam as a bluetooth modem. Do you have any references on that? Thanks for all of your help. Much apprecaited.

If the k-jam uses windows in any form, you can get the bluesoleil for wince build and install that there, and it should work, since most forms of windows mobile convert ce apps on the fly as they run. (Appease their hardware calls with correct references and then return the information the application was looking for, or looking to send properly etc etc... it's just on the fly hardware call conversion), anyways, you can use that to pair it up, or look up your headphone's pairing methods online or in it's manual and see if there's any special trick or to check if they support A2DP fully. Also, to use it as a modem, i'd have to see one up close before i could tell you how to set that up.
Regarding the t-zones stuff, they require for the T-Zones plan, that you use a proxy, on the T-Mobile Total Internet plan, you don't have to use a proxy, is what i'm saying. The Sidekick data plan is the equivalent of T-Zones with some extra gateways available.

I wanted to let everyone know that these headphones, although they seem to support some sort of A2DP (Can talk to them from a laptop supporting A2DP), they will not talk to windows Mobile 5 with A2DP. I have the Cingular 8125 (aka HTC Wizard), with the A2DP additions loaded on it and the 2.17 firmware. I have my wizard talking A2DP to Motorola headphones, and to a Scosche A2DP car receiver. They both work great, and even though the wizard will see the creative headphones (I have 2 of them, so I know it's not 1 defective set), and will see the "Wireless Stereo", when I try and connect the wireless stereo, I don't get the Headphones with the note icon like I do with the other A2DP devices.

I can use them with my Trinity, but it was a little tricky.
The problem was with the Microsoft Bluetooth Stack, it tries to establish a secure connection when it is not required. Worked fine with my laptop(widcomm) and previous pocket pc(iPAQ H6365-widcomm) but the latter was unusable due to the lack of bandwidth.
I'm not sure if this is really the solution
but I believe you must add the CB2530 without entering a password first, the headphones will try to connect right after confirmation of the services we want to use(wireless stereo in this case),
"the device cb2530 is trying to connect... yes/no" - something like that
the pocket pc will request for a pin, enter 0000 and wait, the phones will disappear from the paired devices list, try again, this time insert the pin 0000 right after selecting the CB2530 from the found devices list and voilà, an A2DP connection will be established.
It's a little weird tough, the system sounds sound choppy, even with jointstereo off and increased bitpool(512 lol), PocketPlayer doesn't stream the audio through A2DP, and media player does it right and the sound quality is nice(only a few other skips but overall pretty nice and the original transmitter wasn't perfect either), but maybe because of the load of audio conversion on the CPU the whole UI gets sluggish, odd.(or maybe it's the bitpool value I used)

yes, you can do that, provided your device and bluetooth support it.
I do it all the time at work. If you computer has Bluetooth Stereo Audio profile, you pair your phone with it and simply select "set as stereo bluetooth" on your phone, shouldn't require any settings on the computer side and voila, you'll have your audio through your computer. It blows my co-workers minds how I go from headphones to my desktop. My work doesn't have a lot of internet bandwidth so I use my phone to stream di.fm and bassdrive.com.
I realize that the demand for this may not be too high since the audio quality of HFP is of very low quality compared to A2DP, but I still want to do it!
As I understand it, the UConnect (Dodge Magnum) system will only accept HFP (Bluetooth Hands-Free Profile 0.96 or higher) as a source. My phone (Sprint HTC Touch Windows Mobile 6.1 Pro) can do just about every Bluetooth standard needed to transmit audio. It is already paired with the UC system and works flawlessly - even displaying battery and signal levels.
I have been scouring Google looking for a "HFP Emulator" or something that will allow my Windows Mobile phone transmit audio from WMP or TCPMP (streaming Internet radio or Orb broadcasts from my PC) using the HFP flag so that UConnect will think that it is a phone call I'm listening to. It doesn't seem as though this should be so difficult...
I don't have a physical audio input in my car or anything. I'm really just curious if there is a Windows Mobile hack/application that will do this or any other method you know of?

It has full A2DP which means you can control the device using the stereo itself, something the iphone cannot do

Hope someone can figure this out:
I've had experience with 3 mobiles connecting to the built-in bluetooth in my car (HTC Tytn II, HTC Hero and Nokia e71) my concern is the following:
With the Nokia, when I get a call, I hear the phone ringtone through the car speakers. But with both HTCs I couldn't, I hear the default car ringtone, which is REALLY annoying.
The nokia e71 has the following bluetooth specs:
Bluetooth version 2.0 with Enhanced Data Rate
- Bluetooth profiles: DUN, OPP, FTP, HFP, GOEP, HSP, BIP, RSAP, GAVDP, AVRCP, A2DP
does anyone know if one of the these profiles is responsible for this? which one? I hope it would work with the Desire.
by the way, does making the phone visible before connecting make any difference? (just wondering)

No problems at all. Just a standard pairing; it took less than a minute to auto sync the address book and I was ready to go.
I've never had problems with this kit; have sync'd numerous WinMo devices, Blackberrys (is that the plural?!) (still active for work) and now the Android device.

VAG cars need phones that use the RSAP Bluetooth profile, it's a bit of a wierd profile and stands for Remote Sim Access Profile, now looking this up for you I can only see some blackberry and Nokia phones that have this profile.
Bluetooth phone prep is a bit of a waste of time at the moment as the company who writes the software are not fully integrating there systems with everyone else, they are also not following standard A2DP procedures, I would imagine this is due to a partnership thing with people like Nokia and company cars etc.
Next time save the 600 quid or so you pay to have bluetooth prep and get a decent stereo like I have in my Audi, unless you got satnav too then you are stuffed
I have enclosed a link on VAG group phone prep and HTC phones, make sure your SIM card is of the new Variety

In my car the Desire works perfectly with the Parrot CK3300. I get full bluetooth contact sync, voice dialling works fine (the CK3300 does the voice recognition as the Desire doesn't do it over bluetooth) and calls come through loud and clear.
The wife has the lower CK3000 Evo. This doesn't have a display, so you send contacts to the kit over bluetooth and then record voice tags against them so that the kit can do voice dialling. Unfortunately the Desire refuses to send contacts to it and claims that the kit doesn't support sending contacts over bluetooth. This unfortunately means the wife can use the kit for incoming calls, but has no voice dialling for outgoing calls when she also upgrades to the Desire on Saturday when her contract's up.

But what about voice dialling over Bluetooth with any of those?
The Android OS doesn't support voice dialling over bluetooth yet.
That's why I use the Parrot CK3300 - it does it on behalf of the phone. It basically syncs the phonebook to the kit. You then record the voice tags into the kit and associate them with a contact. You can then voice dial, which the kit will match up to the contact and dial using the phone.
Even when I've had phones that do support voice dialling I've always found the Parrot more effective.

Thanks for the explanation. I happen to own a VAG car, A4 B8 with concert radio.
So SAP profile is different than RSAP profile? Could this be responsible for the phone ringtone not going through the car speakers? Because everything else works perfectly, it pairs and connects automatically, syncs contacts and make/receive calls, except for the ringtone issue! Which sounds like an ambulance siren.
What stereo system did you install?

That's not good to read at all if I remember correctly I think I have on my car the same parrot model as your wife. My parrot is working perfect with Omnia and Xperia but I was afraid it wouldn't work with Desire and it seems I was right to be afraid. That's a huge problem for me.
Works perfectly with my Motorola H500 Bluetooth Headset.

It's a big deal for her too. I'm hoping that it'll be fixed in a future update. I'm glad we thought to check it before she upgraded to the Desire. She's going to hold off upgrading until this issue is resolved as she spends a lot of time in the car and it's not cheap to upgrade the handsfree kit. It's a deal breaker for her.

I installed a Blaupunkt MP68 but would not recommend it as it's pretty old now, the good thing was in the day it matched the Audi Red dials perfect and was German so I stuck with it.
All the Pioneer new series of BT headunits have Parrot BT built in so I would recommend one of those.
hmmm ... where does one go to get at slightly more advanced settings for BT? The Settings>Wireless & Networks options are very basic. I'm hoping to be able to tweak something to make it start working with my Audi A5. I suppose I'm asking is there anything like Sim Access Profile or Jetware out there?
Anyone any ideas? I searched Marketplace but nothing relevant came up.
I have found that my motorola headset keeps connecting and disconnecting like it is going out of range.
Thing is, it can be in my pocket about a foot from my headset and still disconnect and reconnect several times a minute.
Just had the new kenwood deck installed... Should do almost anything. I have my incredible paired up and calls are clear. Problem is A2DP audio streaming. Does not work. No A2DP device is found. Yes, the manual gives directions to play streamed audio once bt is synced. Well, its synced, got my phone book on there, and calls are being made.
Any thoughts or ideas to get streaming audio?
I don't have any help to offer, but I am experiencing the same problem with my Pioneer FH-P8000BT. Pairs for phone calls with no issue and everything is clear, but the radio does not even "see" the device as being available for A2DP.
I previously paired a few different HTC phones (all running Windows Mobile) with this radio with no issues. I'm hoping it's a simple fix, but I can't find a single thing in the settings that I haven't played with to try and get it to work.
I have an Alpine HU with an Alpine KCE-400BT bluetooth add on. My streaming audio is working, although I don't get any song/artist info on screen. I do have an issue where the phone doesn't sync up all the time. It syncs up great in the morning. If I stop for gas or something (turn off the car briefly) and get back in, then the radio won't see the phone until a call comes in or is started from the phone (or I toggle BT on/off).
You might check with Pioneer on any firmware udpates.
My incredible works great with my Ford sync system. It always connects, calls are loud and crisp, and streaming bt audio works great. I use it to listen to Pandora all the time.

I have seen other people post issues with having bluetooth on the phone enabled before the car is on. If you turn the car on first and then the phone's bluetooth they said it worked fine.
I have Kenwood HU and my phone won't pair with it. my Blackberry Paired with it fine, and even did A2DP, and worked awesome...now......nothing.
Been looking for some answers as to why, but after calling Kenwood they said it's a software update that is missing.
however, seeing as some people are getting it working fine....I am suspecious.

My 4160 and serveral WM units worked, but the A2DP always had to be turned on by going into the menu every single time I wanted to listen to anything from the phone, but the Incredible does it by itself every time perfectly.
I have a Pioneer AVIC N4 and the audio for both calls and music works just fine out of the box.
I have the kiv-bt900 also, and it is my understanding that it does not have A2DP. I believe the A2Dp in the manual is referring to the KIV-700 with the add on bt module.

it stands for Advanced Audio Distribution Profile. In simple terms, it's stereo audio transferred from one device to another via bluetooth. Example: Music from a phone/mp3 player to stereo bluetooth headphones, head units etc..

Well damn. The deck was sold to me from car toys (local vendor) under the pretense that it would do zune (works great) and A2DP...
Usb works great too... I was thinking of formatting a laptop drive to the mac file system (hfs) and hooking it up to the usb port to get a200GB drive of mp3 and video since it supports ipods. (works on xbx360, why not here?)
OK so a small fix, but not the end result.
with my Kenwood head unit I can make it work as long as I don't let it download the phonebook. and that is no problem since the phone sits on my dash in the car dock. but the problem is that EVERY time I start up my truck, or after I end a call it asks to re-download the phonebook.
it kinda irks me, but I cannot get it to stop asking, no setitngs on the stereo work.
I emailed Kenwood about possibly releasing a firmware update to include A2DP to the kiv bt900. They responder saying that there isn't enough demand for the feature for them to create a firmware update. So if we get enough people contacting them and requesting that feature, they will release and update. So you guys should all contact them to increase the demand for this feature. Hope this helps.

"I understand that you're inquiring about the KIV-BT900's Bluetooth features. We do apologize for any difficulties that you've experienced with this item. Unfortunatley, we cannot assist you with any firmware updates at this point since this model was just recently released to the market. Our company has not received enough demand for this feature which prevents us from developing or releasing an update for the KIV-BT900 unit. We may release an Bluetooth update in the future, however it's hard to determine at this time."
I'm willing to start complaining and sending some emails out to them. What email address did you send it too? I just got the player and that is def the only thing missing to make it complete for me.

I spoke with a rep and they mentioned that A2DP missing from the unit is the most often called in issue about the unit.
I have a KDC-BT948 with the same issue. They removed A2DP and put in Pandora instead..and it only works through iPhone, which then uses up wireless data on a cell phone plan. So Android, MS phones, and any other bluetooth device can no longer be used with a Kenwood Car Stereo. Someone at Pandora really made an impression at someone in Kenwood. It is too bad that they are limiting consumers with their choice which ultimately limits their sales and increases complaints.
Should have everyone go do this and request a fix.

I have purchased the KDC-BT948HD radio.
Where I am overall happy with many of the features, looks, variable colors, and excellent sound quality of the unit, there are several things that I am extremely dissapointed in and would like to see an update released to resolve them.
1. SMS Received message on the unit: Might be useful to some, but to me it is a dangerous distraction while driving, especially at night. It has me take my eyes off the road to look at the unit and makes me want to look at my phone to read/send texts. Texting and driving is illegal in many states and there should be a way on the unit to allow a selection to turn this feature off.
2. BT Audio (A2DP) is missing. I have an Android phone with my music on it. Alone there are more Android phones than iPhones in use today. I wanted to have Bluetooth streaming audio so I can play my music from my phone to the unit. For such a high technology unit, it should be part of the firmware and flexibility to the consumer to use their device with more options. The previous year units had this enabled and seems to be disabled now replaced by a focus on a wired Apple connection and Pandora. Forcing use of Pandora also forces consumers to use up data rates on their wireless plans. If A2DP were enabled, more consumers could enjoy the product integration with standard BT devices offered by Apple, Android, Microsoft and many others. All could enjoy the music and audio applications on their devices including Pandora. I would like to request that A2DP be added to the firmware and source selection on this device. I should yield increase product ratings and sales as web searches show many complaints about this issue.
I would value your feedback on these points and potential solutions.

My incredible works great with my Ford sync system. It always connects, calls are loud and crisp, and streaming bt audio works great. I use it to listen to Pandora all the time.
