I have an SX-56 on ATT service that I want to unlock so a friend of mine can use it on T-mobile USA. I upgraded the Windows OS to 2003 summer 2004 when Siemens was offering it on thier website.
I called ATT (now cingular) and they said they will not provide me with the unlock code and to call Siemens for the code. I called tech support at Siemens and they say call carrier (ATT). go figure. They got me with the 2year contract and a sim card id, whats the big deal about giving me the unlock code........
Anyway, found this website and the xdatools. went to the wallaby prompts and when I get to the ROM version the one I have is not listed, so I follow the prompts to the unlisted one and that leads me to the special ROM edition. Okay, that all being said.......I read where it says that the 3.17 ROM is for the PPC2002 version. Does this mean that it will not work with the OS2003 that I have currently installed and if not how do I reload the original PPC2002 that came on the unit new. I am new to all this but am learning so please be merciful if I have mis-stated some things here.
Will I need the ATT sim card in the phone to do all this?
What is the best way to go about unlocking the phone.
the ROM version is: A.30.09 ENG ROM date 01/01/04
the Radio version is: A.33.02
Protocol version: 1.3.3

Da** it, you and I are in the same boat with AT&T & Siemens flip-flop game!
My phone is exactly as yours, but I didn't upgrade to 2003. When I do the same way to attempt to get it unlock by XDAtools and pick the T-moblie ROM version like you did, I recieved the message:" the ROM image that you are trying to upgrade is not compatible to your pocket PC. Your device infomation: ROM A.30. Your Upgrade info.: ROM 3.17. Please download the compatible ultility and try agian" And I couldn't find our compatible unlock A.30 version anywhere, either! I also did try the special_rom_1.2 and XDAUnlock, but no darn better news!!!!!!!!! I got the same error message for special_rom_1.2 and got "error getting unlock code" for XDAUnlock.exe.
Pls note: I still have the AT&T SIM card installed in SIM slot.
Any Siemens SX-56 unlock "guru" please help us out.
Can anyone help me unlock my UK T-mobile MDA phone. I,m currently in Canada and need to get my phone on a local network. I think he model is also known as a K-Jam, although don't quote me on that one. Many thanks in advance of any replies.

i've just bought this PDA and need to use it on o2 for work, yes Im a newnie but I have read the unlock guide on the wiki and it says it works for other PHOBs but does not mention the PH20B2, should I pay a website and give my IMEI number or is there a way I can do it myself without it breaking, Thanks for any help offered
hi i have a ph2ob2 its was locked on vodafone i know it does not mention this handset in the unlocking but i read on a spanish site that a girl used the unlocker on a ph20b2 and it worked so i gave it a whirl and what do u know my phone is unlocked so have a go it works let us know how u get on

take out Battery put battery back in hold SYM boutton then you should get a screen with 4colors now flash your orginal rom

Once you're in the 3 color bootloader mode. Run the flash update that is official for your phone. (ex: i'm with tmobile, so i'd be using the official t-mobile ROM) once you've re-flashed you're phone to your official ROM then you can always take a stab at flashing one of rick's or kavana's roms again. Remember always pull out your memory ( micro-sd) card b-4 performing any ROM flashes. Lastly, don't worry about Activesync not seeing your phone when trying to do this. That's supposed to happen. As long as you have your phone in bootloader ( tri color) mode and have your phone connected to PC via USB. then you're fine to install your official ROM

They can be found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=381726&highlight=official+roms any one of the tmobile roms will be fine to use ( WM5 or either WM6 versions )

are you sure that your phone is a tmobile dash branded phone? Is there a logo just above your 4 way directional pad? The logo usually tips us off about what branded phone you have.
Secondly, if it is a tmobile brand. Is your phone a USA branded DASH or a UK Tmobile MDA Mail? The 3 ROMS on the link i gave you are only for the USA Roma and wouldnt work is you have a MDA Mail (UK)
Yes, there is a logo T-mobile logo in front side.But there is a HTC logo in the back side.
And this phone was bought in China.
Before i am using WM5 and there many Tmobile softwares in the phone

I don't guess you can. You can do a search on this forum to see if someone posted that ROM and see if that works

Not sure what to tell you then. The error is basically saying that its a rom that not intended for your device. But if your phone is a USA Tmobile branded DASH then any of the 3 roms on the site I provided you should work. Maybe someone else like rick or nrg or rip syntaxx can give some insight.
I've tried Dash 5,6 , HTC, Dopod official Rom but got the same result.

Lemma ask you this. Did you ever have Wi-Fi working on your phone? If you did then it's probably not the MDA Mail as they did did not ship with Wi-Fi

Well if you're with tmobile USA then go to www.t-mobile.com/wmupgrade then select your phone (DASH) then on the next screen type in your phone number and download the ROM there. See if that ROM works. Lastly make sure if you have a micro-sd card installed that you take it out b-4 installing the ROM

You might try taking out your sim card then. On the other hand, you might also try the dopod ROM sine i believe its the ROM for the china version of your phone. It'd be weird for it to work since you have the tmobile logo on the front of your phone.
Update: Also i took a look at the back cover you're using and MINE which is a US Tmobile DASH, has a different logo. Mine has the windows symbol with a "designed for windows mobile" stamp. Mine doesnt have the HTC stamp. So in reality yours could be one of many branded versions of the HTC Excalibur. And could be some kind of bootlegged device. My suggestion is to try all of the ROMS that are posted on the link i gave you and see if any of them work

You really can't unlock you're phone if you cant get it to boot up like i said. try all of the roms on the link i gave you. It may be that someone re-CID locked it to another carrier. ( not sure how but definitely possible)

I am struggling through trying to work out how to unlock my sim and then flash WM6 onto my 02 XDA ii which therefore is a himalya - says PH10b in model no.
Anyway Im following one of the guides (http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Wizard Windows Mobile 6 for newbies) and it says I have to establish whether it is a G3 or G4 or else Ill brick it and probably throw myself out of my window.
So I performed a soft reset and got the following information in red letters when I do it.
R 1.10.00
G 1337. 18
1.60.00WWE
I just don't know if it is a G3 or G4 and can't afford to brick this phone - so please could someone help me so I know which intructions to follow?
I will send best reply a stick of rock from Blackpool (famous for rock - its like sugary concerete).

Try to use the SEARCH button, it always helps, read here:

"You can tell if your device is G3 or G4 by entering into bootloader mode.
If the bootloader version is less than 1.99999 than it is a G3 device. If the bootloader version is greater than 2.00000 than it is a G4 device"
When I put it into bootload mode (not connected via usb) it says 'serial' at the top and 'v1.03' at the bottom.
Can I take this to mean it is G3 then?
I should add i have managed to unlock the sim thanks to this wonderful forum.
