Hello,
For you french users of the SFR QTEK v1640, here is a report of my upgrade.
I was first deceived by the v1640, especially by the telephony subsystem, where the phone started to ring after two or three ring signals on the caller side... giving you only two more rings to hand off before routing the call to the voice recorder.
I was also upset by the necessity to install outlook, use windows etc.
As I am probably what you call a geek, I started my browser looking for others experiments, and found this (great) forum.
After a lot of reading, I decided that I'd go for the O2 EXEC Rom. (be warned that this rom is in english so the soft keyboard will be a qwerty and the menu, texts etc will be in english as well - if you are comfortable with that, then go ahead).
Also, the SFR rom comes with the 1.04.10 radio subsystem, whereas the O2 is 1.04.02.
Unfortunately, I was not able to make a backup of the shipped rom (1.13.65 FRE) which would have been useful in order to solve the soft keyboard problem, or even have a return path.
Nevertheless, given the number of successful upgrades reported, and the fact that even unsuccessful upgrades found a way to recover, I felt confident enough to take the risk.
And I did.
Well, it was not that easy, because I had to cheat here and there to use the no_ID utility to bypasse the country Id check, but finally it worked.
and... I can't stress too much on the difference !!
The telephony subsystem now works like a charm, the phone now rings without a delay
The switch of the screen orientation is way more responsive.
Only drawback : after upgrade, you have to install a registry editor to
- set the correct hard keyboard
HKLM/software/OEM/Qwerty
set layout to deciaml 66572
- set the battery icon to display :
HKLM/services/power
set show icon = 1
This upgrade (and downgrade for the radio, until someone find a way to get the 1.04.10 apart) definitely worth it, so if you feel like trying, just go for it !
Next, you can go and install a few other things like the skype cab found on the JJ extended rom.
Cheers
Gael
I've read you post with a lot of interest. Did you easily put the sfr parameters for MMS and so on...
Were you able to finally get the azerty keyboard?
Thanks.
Sound like good.
I will try this week-end and I will report what's happen here.
Thanks for this post.

Hello Could you please post a step by step method of upgrading the rom and solving all other problems like those related to Country ID error, the french azerty keyboard and all other tweaks that need to be applied to the Qtek 1640.
Thanks, Adhoc

More detailed information as requested
Here is the CAB used to setup the SFR connections (GPRS, MMS etc.)
Signed_Connection_FRE.CAB (you can download it from the FTP)
Next, I added this Registry editor (but use the one you like)
Registry_Editor_0.63_Arm_-iPAQ-.cab
And edited the Country registry key, plus the Show Battery Icon as mentionned :.
- set the correct hard keyboard
HKLM/software/OEM/Qwerty
set layout to deciaml 66572
- set the battery icon to display :
HKLM/services/power
set show icon = 1
The soft keyboard will NOT be changed so it will stay QWERTY. (Which I don't car, for I'm used to Palm's "graffiti" so I use block recognition.
I did NOT apply the BT patchs because they probably apply to the .10 radio rom, and I havent found the standalone upgrade yet.
The BT is not perfect, when sending my contacts from my old phone (one by one by the way, stupid MS can't handle vcard with multiple contacts !!!) I had to stop and restart the BT stack every 20-30 contacts (I had more than 300 :-( )
Stay tuned, I'll be back soon with more details

Well, not so related, but if you want to surf from your device, have a look here :

definitely worth the reading.

I definetly would like to get the Qtek rom at least to have msn on the device.
The O2 rom seems to be ok but as I use the keyboard quite often if prefer to remain with a French rom (or if anyone comes up with a solution to get the azerty keyboard...)
Qtek9000 French rom Very urgently needed
Please someone to upload it to the ftp.
Tnanks in advance, aDHOC.

Promethee : read my post - the harware azerty is fully fontionnal with the O2 rom. Only the soft kb remains Qwerty.
As for pocket MSN, just browse the various Extended Roms of the FTP, you will find one cab that will make you happy.

SO... I spent my saturday night to upgrade this UK ROM.
That works better but it doesn't transform my 2cv into Ferrari.
Trick for us keyboard works well, too. However everything is in english (suggested word, virtual keyboard, etc)
I'm waiting for a original qtek 9000's french rom.
Nobody knows where to find one ?
Sorry I've been unable to find pocket msn in the extended rom.
For the keyboard I don't see your point. En français dans le texte est ce que tu parles du clavier apparaissant sur l'écran ou du clavier physique. Est-ce que quand tu appuies sur la lettre A, c'est un Q qui apparait?
If I don't have to guess where are located the keys on the keyboard because it's recognized as a qwerty one then I will upgrade...
English speakers - the content of this post is already above.

Thanks, just need to find a windows pc to do the upgrade... 8)
@promethee : yeah, sure - that was my main concern actually !
hopefully, a linux based distro will soon be made available !
That would be the _real_ upgrade

I read in an article on ppcw.net that the XDAIIi (yes 'i') has so called Itellipad and Intellidial.
Both techniques offer a better useable input manner (as compared to a qwerty stylus keyboard) especially for on-the-road-use: big buttons with the same functioning as keys on a regular mobile phone.
I know there is a tool called 'blimkeys' that has about this functionality, but apparently Microsoft (or O2) has put it into a new device as standard s/w.
Has anyone seen a ROM file that has Intellipad / Intellidial in it?
If so: PLZ post it here!!!
I would like to see if it would be possible to implemetn on a Himalaya.
edit: See my post from 14-12 in which I uploaded the iMate JAM versions
see this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=13066&highlight=
works on my XDAII and MDAIII in English, it must use default dictionary.
Do you mean you simply installed the cab and then was able to continue using an English language dialer?
That would be great.
Not the dialer - haven't seen a cab for that- but the T9 works great!
I dont get it:
The Intellipad stuff (T9 is just a feature of that) seems to be integrated with the dialer. Fro what I understand now is that IntelliPad and InterlliDialer are two different apps . . .
Is the IntelliPad from T9.cab English or German language?
And how about the IntelliPad/T9 colours (especially the Intellipad specific button-colours), are they T-Mobile pinkish or default/O2 blue?
Could you also post the contents of the following registry branch (I noted the defaults):
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\HTC\IntelliPad]
"Languages"=dword:00000001
"PopupMenu"=dword:00000001
"DockList"=dword:00000000
"OneSymbol"=dword:00000001
"AddSpace"=dword:00000001
"PlaySound"=dword:00000001
"HelpFile"="IntelliPad-1.0-(German).htm"
"ResourceFile"="IntelliPadRCGerman.dll"
There is no dialer, just T9 sip for typing SMS or using in any program. So the Intelidialer must be a separate app.
The colours are T-Mobile default pinkish (yuk) and all the registry settings are as you posted. It must use the default dictionary because although it says that it's German it is suggesting English words.
Thanks, thats what i thought.
Guess we have to wait for Non-T-Mobile versions of the device to come out before we can use a non-pinkish SIP.
From what I read on ppc-welt.info I am quite sure the dialer is in the ExtROM of the Magician too as 'Intellidialer.cab' (original name  )
Now If someone could post that cab!
That would be great.
IntelliDialer
and remeber... this cab is for test purposes only...
Hey anyone out there get the intellidialer to work on xda2?don't seems to be working.
The dialer seems to identify a Himalaya and thus showing only the 'old' dialer (well, it is a different T-Mobile one, but even more awful than the original)
Will the IntelliDialer works on an I-Mate PDA2K?
Have a try!
Maybe it only works on Magician, maybe it just needs WM2003SE (like Blue Angel)
Plz post the results
I didn't work out for me.
The only thing it did on my I-Mate PDA2K was changing the dialskin to that ugly pink T Mobile dialer
Tried Intellidialer on English MDAIII - works fine, but in German, still I can see my contacts and dial with one hand!
IntelliDialer
With regards to the IntelliDialer does anybody know does the Magician run on WM2003SE?
And if so does WM2003SE integrates with .NET Framework?
I suspect we have to install .NET to get this baby working.
yes, the magician runs on WM2003SE, but apparently the program somehow is tied up with the dialer, since I'm running .net framework and It still doesn't work.
Oops

You are right and I was wrong Bro.
Went over the CABs and it adds up.
Since Intellidialer can de transferred succesfully to other devices based on certain pre-requisites (below one user managed to get it to work on a MDAII onother did not succeed on pda2k) we need to find out WHAT pre-requisites (hopefully its not SE dependent).
Now If both xda-rocks and VW_ELM could publish their config . . .
Intellidialer appears to be reliant on WM2003SE.
It was suggested on ppc-welt.info forums that maybe the cprog.exe version could make the difference.
Hence what we need is:
English Intellidialer.cab
English WM2003SE cprog.exe
(ans still off course an english Intellipad )
I do a lot of texting , and the tiny little keyboard just aint as easy to use with my fingers with one hand.
My Artemis didnt have a Keypad , or T-9 input keypad, only had the keyboard, block recognizer, transcriber, & letter recognizer.
My old S200/Jamin had the Keypad dialer , made texting so much easier.
Anyone know where I can located a cab file for T-9 input??
Thanks in advance
Just copy over the cab file in your my documents folder and Launch, you should reboot the Artemis.
This one is international, so with different languages on board.

German language does not work. I can select it, but when writing SMS it recognizes/proposes only English words. Any solution for this?

Try a soft reset after choosing GERMAN language.
After that, my Phonepad writes T9 in german.

Where do I copy this dll ?? I dont have any map called dictionary.
My P3300 doesnt have transcriber, I only have keyboard. And now I've got phone pad.
How do I install transcriber??
Phone Pad WWE version
I have altered the cab and removed all the languages except for english leading to a smaller install - saving you 0.6 Mb
Does anyone else find that the Phonepad locks up sometimes (possibly due to lack of memory), leading to the inability to change SIPs, and the necessity to perform a soft-reset?

I'm referring to my Blue Angel, but it's the Phonepad taken from the O2 Mini (it may not be the version that's been included with this post if it's a newer one for a WM5 device...).
I'm wondering how memory works for SIP input anyway, because sometimes when I have heaps of free memory, and I use PenPower, it won't change to another SIP (eg. Null Keyboard, which doens't use much memory). Is SIP memory specially allocated?

The version posted is 1.0 (Build 22364)
Maybe its your null keyboard thats causing the problems - i recall when i used it - it was a bit glitchy.
It's definitely not the Null Keyboard, which I've never had a problem with, as the problems occurred even before I installed the Null Keyboard.
The version I'm referring to is also 1.0, but build 18526. (I don't know why they don't increase the version number like every other software vendor).
I'll try the version posted, and see whether I continue to experience problems (that is if it works on PPC2003....)
Works on PPC 2003SE
Well.... so far so good. At least it works on PPC2003SE - many things these days seem only to work on WM5! Thanks for making this available.
Wrote too soon! It's already locked up on me. Managed to lock the whole device this time, though, rather than just the SIP. I had to do a soft reset. (I'm wondering whether it's a combination of using PenPower and the PhonePad together).
Anyone know where in the Windows Mobile 5 filestructure T9NorwegianLdb.dll resides?
The Phone Pad - International.CAB.zip seem to work fine on the HTC P-3300.
Just point and hold on the small up arrow on the right side of the keyboard icon when you write an SMS to choose it.
Norwegian is not included in the file posted in this thread however.
I guess we need to install the T9NorwegianLdb.dll for that. Anyone know where to copy it? I am unable to find the phone pad directory in WM5.
Wellcome Back to the Most Stable Rom Cooker
To All who likes this magnifecent Cook Schaps is back again , wellcome him and write him what you wish to see in his new Rom which programms and build do you suggest .
Schap's ROM
By far one of the most stable ROM's i've had the oppurtunity to flash.
I do have some questions regarding the BT functioning on the command com.
If i press it, it doesn't turn on. But if i start another program or do a soft reset it'll turn on.
how is that?
what's is up.
So BT isn't as smooth as the rest of the ROM. otherwise this is a great ROM.

Welcome back man.In your absence,I tried all possible roms, but I had to come back to Schap`s 3.30c.The most stable.Looking forward to your next delicious meal.
Yes, your ROMS rocks!! i mount the 3.60 but i've noticed that the first roms had 30-28 Mb RAM FREE... now around 23
My request is a "ramfree" version..
Schaps, I am really happy with my 3.54c; it's a great ROM!!!
Sometimes I get the "no hardware buttons responsive" problem as well as the data connection drop, but I don't think those are specific to your ROM. Rebooting is good for the phone anyway.
Welcome back, old boy.
Welcome back Schaps!!
Looking forward to your new ROMs..
I hope your new builds are with bepes superstorage ROM merging trick..
Welcom back schap's
I hope you life is in order again
Good to have you back.

Yes uptill now there is a still an issue for the BT, I got around that after installing all my favorities software then backed them up with sprite backup, then reflashed it with version 3.54C, then restored the original backup of 3.6a, the BT problem is not coming any more, the second way was found by tomli, but it didnot work for me, he just killed the sapsetting.exe using sk tools, and removed some registry setting launch99, good luck.
Welcoming him back is not the key issue here; treating him with compassion and respect is.
When a guy says he can't post because of personal problems, then you get someone accuse him of taking donations and running, then you wonder where our humanity has disappeared to.
Whats more important; bits of code that drives a poxy PDA or a man in crisis? If you have to think about the answer then you have a serious problem.
If I was him I would pack it all in and just go cook for myself.

i've tried the lsvw version for a long time and recently i tried the schaps version and I do like the schaps version better. it has a better interface and way more features and functions. oh, and may i suggest a multilanguage support version?

Hello,
I think you didn't saw this in the Schaps' message because most of you aren't french speaking:
"Je pense que j'aurai un peu plus de temps à consacrer à mes ROMs dans les semaines à venir, par contre je ne pense pas que je passerai autant de temps qu'avant sur XDA-Devs, finalement je crois que ça n'en vaut pas la peine..."
It means basically :
"I think I will have a little more time for my ROMs in the weeks to come but I think I won't pass as much time as before on XDA-Devs, finally I thinks it's useless..."

Heb for Dia
You can buy Bi Directional Heb lang support from either:
http://www.pocketpc.co.il ("official" Dia Heb Support with localized original SIP)
http://www.wince.co/il (generic Heb Support for WinMobile 6.1)
http://www.paragon.com (generic Heb Support - basic version)
No free rides as it is not only about adding a font, but also implementing a RTL engine, actually a Bi-Di one to allow RTL/LTR.
If you don't mind reading "mirror" just copy Tahoma.ttf from Windows to PPC Windows Fonts Dir.
This kind of covers all alternatives available..

well, if you just wanna read and write sms, and you dont care the hebrew being reversed (םכל םולש), then just copy tahoma.ttf from c:\windows\fonts\ on your pc to \windows\ on your ppc, and save the 250 and the slow down of a hebrew supporting device.

so anyway. if someone has a good solution for just getting the support of hebrew, I'll be more then thankfull.

I thank you very much for the quick fix with tahoma. However, what I think is quite strange is that only some of the fonts are displayed correctly while others remain as cubes (I mean on the same website, like ynet or haaretz) . (and strange enough the direction is OK!). So is there a fix for that? Do I maybe have to change something in the registry? My Device is Xperia, with WM6.1.
Any help is much appreciated!
Try this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=469061&highlight=alex+hebrew
At first I bought the PDAC version, and I was disapointed that it really slowed down my diamond. I also need Hebrew support only for reading sms, emails, and maybe some web browsing to hebrew websites.
In the link is a hebrew version that does exactly that. It even has a hebrew keyboard built into the diamond SIP changer (you pick Italian and it changes to the Hebrew keyboard)
Check it out.

Hi,
these in to ask for help to all ROM experts around here. I´ve had several QTEK/HTC and it was with all the help from you that I got the most of them!
Now (and lots of people, specially in Portugal) have a ZTE N61 (Portuguese clone is called TMN BLUEBELT).

People already found how to access bootloader, hard reset, etc but we´re stuck with the default WM 6.1. This is a very nice and cheap phone with a Qualcomm 528Mhz CPU, 64 or 96Mb of RAM (AFAIK), 3.2MP AF camera, WIFI, BT A2DP, A-GPS, 256Mb ROM.
If anyone knows how to get the ROM, change it and how to update it on the phone it would be FANTASTIC. I hope Portuguese people and ZTE N61 (and clones) owners care to join in here, please post/help/find help
anyone?
Hello,
I'm a Portuguese user of this phone, and an upgrade to this ROOM would be great specially the photo and video features.
Best regards
It seems like not in your wildest dreams a guess...
I dont believe that will ever get a rom kitchen or even a new rom in XDA-Devs, cause the phone in question is only sold in China and in Portugal
I guess, that´s the price to pay wen someone buys a cheap phone :S
someone has already unlock?
IS that possible?
A nice piece of electronics but damn...this camera needs some work! Not enough ligh. Outside=gr8; Insinde=0. :S
Count me in
If I know about something, I'll post back here.
Cumps.
I wish I could find a fix for the VideoCamera that Record really slowly (like 1 frame per second!).
And the possibility to run Internet Explorer using WIFI, without connecting to the GPRS.
yes, it is possible!
go to "ligações do browser" in teh settings and mark up the detectar definições automáticamente.
Also, when you run IE, it will open TMN services, so, that's why u'll get a error.
anyway, myself use opera on my bluebelt.
about the video stuff, check mine here:

first post in that place.
i did a recording. sure, it's not amazing, indeed the maximum is a interpolation.
But at least, is not the 1 frame only.
try to hard reset your device, btw.
i forgot another thing!
if u want, you can use a app named "nodata" to block the grps connections.
What about Windows Phones ?
Anyone ever heard of it ?
BTW, still looking for those ROMs. It can even be with 6.1, but in ENGLISH, please.
Kind regards.
Guess it´s up to us BlueBelt users to figure it out.. about the rom, there´s an official upgrade in TmN´S SITE... but no news bout the damn camera (pretty good in day light.. but in night time better do a drawing...
Hi Guys!
I have one of this, but not from TMN... This is a free with Chinaunicom logo. The WM6.1 installed does not contain any software for the GPS, no application can find it! Is there a TMN english ROM somewhere? I guess some device driver is missing...
i updated my bluebelt with the new room update provided by tmn ( its the working phone call operator that i'm blocked in the pda ) and don't have any problems with the camera...
but im not sure if it was a problem with the phone or the software cause i never tried to work with the camera until i made the update.
i dont use it to camera work lool
thks
here you have the url to the update...
version 12 is the last... i think...
