I must warn you that my SD card got damaged after backing up the ROM as explained in the wiki. I have no idea if that was the immediate cause - but after calling the sandisk technical support, they did ask if I had format it in a special way. Which is essential what will happen when you back up the ROM.

Yes, but it would be far easier to just install a stock rom on your cm7 device.

Thanks. Could you tell me which one is the latest unlocked ROM in that list and what should I do to install that, please? I'm in UK (if this information is relevant).
Backup your rom via recovery......copy the backup to the other phone......restore that backup from recovery......
I'm puzzled by the fact that you have 2 WFSs

If you have rooted WFS (both) then do it with Clockworkmod recovery, it backups complete system/apps/sd-ext including call logs, sms etc

edit. sorry I didnt read your post carefully
you can use rezo609's All-In-One Utility (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1697985) to get stock recovery to your phone and I supose you will just make factory reset and will be on stock rom, but you should make Titanium Backup of your apps cause you will lose them

Answer to your first question is NO, you don't have to swap the sdcard. It is optional...
To answer your 2nd question, we need to know what rom you are running currently. If you are already on a custom ROM, it is most likely that your phone is already rooted. However, if you are on a samsung STOCK rom (the one that came with your phone) then you need to root your phone in order to flash recovery. Recovery is needed to flash custom ROMs.

swapping of internal and external sdcard gives you a larger place to store your pics etc. You can also move your apps to the actual external card and save space as well. I don't need it, so I did not do it..
Now the rom you have... Was your phone new when you bought it? (I mean not a used one but a NEW phone) and did you flash any ROM on it after you bought it? If your answer to first question is YES and to 2nd question is NO, then you have a Samsung Stock ROM...
I believe you can check this info under settings > about phone too...
if we flash Custom ROM, will it update our kernel too?

Changing the ROM will not change the IMEI.
And discussion of how to change the IMEI is expressly forbidded on XDA.
If you lost ur imei then read the posts by the user named Binary100100
http://forum.xda-developers.com/search.php?searchid=239699708
You may get the imei back by installing a 4.2 rom. That user somehow was able to make it work by installing two 4.3 roms without formatting partitions but no one understands why it worked.
If you simply have no data then follow the instructions below to odin flash a new GSM modem

Did you restore a backup of your EFS? If so did you have a backup from before it was corrupted? If you flashed your backup over the corrupted it should have fixed it, there should have been no need for wiping it. But to get more attention you probably should have asked this question in that thread.
Hello I tried rooting my device using Kingo Root, well it was rooted successfully. Now, I messed up in deleting some bloatware apps from a list I saw before making a backup . Then when I click the settings>about device, it crashes. Then when I try to factory reset, the apps I uninstalled didn't came back. Please let me know what to do, I just want to make the phone the way I got it then root it.
ps: I googled and some say flash the stock room, I'm scared to flash it because I don't know the firmware version of my phone since I can't access the About device of my phone. I'm in the Philippines btw.
pps: I don't know if it might help but, I installed Kies and the fimware was the latest and it was: PDA:NC2 / PHONE:NA3 / CSC:NC2 (AFR); I don't know how to read that, no google result so far. I'm planning to download firmware from this site: //samsung-updates.com/device/?id=GT-I9082
Please help me Thank you!

Thank you! I'm downloading it now. I hope it'll return my phone the way it was when I got it. After flashing this, do I get root access and custom recovery? If not, would you please lead me to a link I can follow to root and add custom recovery so I can backup my device. Thanks

Put SuperSU in your SDcard
Just Flash this recovery with Odin
Make Sure "Auto-Reboot is not ticked Because Stock Android Restores Stock Recovery
When You get "RESET" in odin
Remove the battery from the and boot to recovery directly
And then flash SuperSU

CSC Doesn't matter Because its Cache
Almost All Partitions are recoverable except EFS

I have another question if it's not too much to ask but, do you know how to swap the internal and external memory of this phone? I would like to know how. Thanks for your help! Especially Yousef!

You can use Partition Backup app. Nandroid backup will backup most of the main partition, but i prefer third party app which will show some unseen partition.
As for the memory thing, i believe @Yousef Mohamed have better knowledge, he even made a flashable zip for expanding the internal memory size.

Gonna try it out thanks. I'm going to do what I learned from here to my future devices Yeah, I hope Yousef does reply.
EFS is most important "recoverable" partition
Bootloader partitions are the most important because without them you can't even boot the phone ( you can't boot to download mode , recovery mode or even the OS )
So you can't recover it
