113MB Backup - what's wrong? - MDA III, XDA III, PDA2k, 9090 General

Having backed up my M2000 (BA) today via Active Sync the file was 147MB - its usually around 44MB
Having deleted all photos, videos & old data it still wants to backup 113MB to the SD Card using x-backup
I do have a 112MB Tomtom GB Map on the Storage Card but its never previously included this in the backup
If I can't reduce the size of the backup I won't be able to backup to my 256 MB card - which already has the Tomtom map
My M500 (Magician) has the SAME software & data - they are syncronised using Active Sync & Outlook - only has 44MB to backup & it runs Tomtom using the same configuration
What's Wrong?
Thanks in advance
Peter

Solved it myself!
When watching the restore; I'd baced it up to PC, I noticed Recording1.wav taking a l-o-n-g time...
An accidental 90MB sound recording!

XDA IIs Storage Memory Problem

When first using the XDA II2 the storage area had around 43mb of free
space with the persavebackup folder and a few small files.
Yesterday I was having a couple of problems with the device and
performed a restore using xbackup from a backup taken on monday and
cleared the Storage area leaving just the persavebackup that contained
a few 1kb small files. However according to the memory applet in
control panel Storage was still using 18.49MB RAM. I had a look in
the storage folder with file explorer and even with the show all files
checked I could not see anything other than the persavebackup with a
few kb's worth of files in it and I could not get all of my work
documents back onto the Storage area because there was now only 24mb
left for me to use? Before the restore I used to have 43mb. I always
run the xbackup utility to a 512MB SD Storage Card so it was not the
backup file taking up the space.
I then performed a hard reset to see if this helped. Once all the o2
applications had reloaded I checked with the memory applet and with
just the persavebackup I was still using 18.49MB of the 43mb Storage
before I tried to restore any of my files.
I then took this a step further and reapplied the O2 1.31 ROM to see
if this would fix the issue and again checked the memory applet as
soon as the O2 applications had been installed but again 18.49 MB of
the 43mb already being used leaving me just 24MB?
Does anyone know what could be wrong with the device could their be a hidden file/folder in Storage I can't see but shouldn't replacing the ROM
clear Storage or has some of the Storage memory gone down and do I
need to return the device?

where memory and data gone?[in my 2gb micro sd; mini adptr]

hi friends;
I have 2 gb micro sd. it was working fine. suddenly it appeared blank .... I had around 1 gb data stored, it still shows 1 gb data used in memory manager, but no data appears ..... where s those data? card with rest of storage s still working .... but I m worried for my backups and programs installed on storage r not working...... plz help. I'm ready to donate if data recovered.
Plug the card into a Vista PC. It automatically prompts you to fix data. Also try browsing the card from a PC' Explorer and see if you could read the rest.

Carty..

No more data on my memory card

Hy,
one hour ago, I discovered that my Trinity didn't see any more data on my 1 Gb memory card. All data are still there (free space is 67 Mb, used is 974 Mb), but the explorer do not see anything on the "strorage card" folder.
Could anybody help me ? How to get my Trinity reading again these data ?
Thank you
i had yesterday the same prob,
a soft-reset solved the prob^^

Apps2sd problem

I have had the latest MoDaCo rom running on my T-Mobile G2 touch a day after I recieved it and have to say that it out performs the stock rom by far. I have noticed a problem in the last 2 days or so which prompted me to do a clean install today but unfortunately did not resolve the problem.
I originally installed the MoDaCo rom using the guide over at the unlockr which was very simple and effective. I also decided that I would try and use apps2sd to help remove installed packages off my phone and store them on my 8GB SD. I had partitioned my sd card as the guide here suggests, I followed the code correctly by basically using copy and paste function in cmd so as to not make any mistakes and made note to update the ext2 to ext3 only as I read that the ext4 has issues with this particular rom.
I presumed everything was fine until today I noticed that when I install an app from the market store it seems to still be storing all the applications on the phone memory, I noticed the phone memory was reducing on every installation wheras the sdcard memory is untouched. Another thing I noticed is that in the sd card setting the sd card total space is being read as 7078MB wheras the partition was for a size of 7437MB. I have also accessed the data/apps folder on my phone through adb shell commands and low and behold all my apps are stored on there. There is also no folder on the sd card so there must be a problem.
I would be greatful if anyone could guide me as to any known issues with apps2sd on this particular rom or whether they can see where I might have done something incorrectly.
Many Thanks
With Aps2SD as I understand it, some parts of the programmes are still stored on the devices - system files etc. so The phone memory will change gradually.
Also, the browser and market caches still grow on the device, and need deleting via Application manager to keep the device memory as free as possible. (With Browser, clear cache, but not data as this clears your cookies and bookmarks )
Also, the apps from aps 2 SD are of course stored on the Ext3 partition. It doesn't get read at all as the SD Card in the device, as the device only sees FAT32 as SDCard space, so new apps loaded don't make a dint in the SD Memory seen on the device, or even in your PC, as this does the same thing, it doesn't see the Ext3 partition.
In My case, prior to installing MCR rom, I had around 50 apps on my device and my phone memory was reading around 70MB
After a wipe and installing MCR2.0 before loading any APPS - I was at around 155MB
After reinstalling ALL my 50 apps plus a fair few more - so around 60 apps(including some bulky apps like CoPilot - which I know stores around 8mb of its total of 15mb on the device itself to run smoothly and Docs To Go) I'm at around 120MB
So my advice is - Check your Browser and market caches. If your device has 50 or 60 apps on taking up around 30mb, then the bulk of those apps are being stored on your Ext 3 partition and its likely all running as it should.
If you have 50 or 60 apps and they are taking up closer to 80/90mb of your device storage, then aps2 SD might not have worked. - check on the thread for ROM that you have installed for advice on how to solve it.
Hope that helps
Dayz xx

Internal Storage Problem

Hi All,
Running Viper 1.8.0 and I am having an issue with the internal storage. The pc is saying I have 10.5gb of storage and I have 6b free but I only appear to have 3.2gb of space used according to properties on the pc, so there appears to be 1gb or so missing.
Any ideas?

Almost looks like you have 1.3GB missing, roughly about the same size a compressed nandroid backup
I've removed the backup to make room for a new backup and to flash a new Rom

Yeah but check on the phone itself too.
On my phone it says 10.51GB / 16.00GB.
In other words, 10.51GB used on the device.
From that 10.51GB it's broken down as 1.80GB Apps, 14.66MB Music, 12.45MB Photos & Videos, 1.19MB Downloads, Other 8.69GB. Available 5.49GB
5.49 + 10.51 = 16GB.
8.69 + 1.8 = 10.49 + the other small MB's adding up... Out of the 8.69GB my used for user made, apps, browser(downloads) , gallery and Miscellaneous, all of which comes to roughly 3.6GB. The rest has to be for the system itself(Android system).
Though if you deleted a back up then surely it has to update as such on the actual size available etc. Strange then
I'm afraid I don't have an answer or solution if there really did go 1GB missing somewhere. To be honest I never really even bothered with the internal storage. I got the phone and practically immediately popped in an SD Card.
