I just purchased an O2 XDA Exec, and its such an amazing little machine! But, its soooo slow, and compared with my ipaq hx2415 the ipaq screams past it. My rom version is (note that I purchased it 3rd party so I'm not sure if its a new rom, but I do know its unlocked):
ROM version: 1.30.107 WWE
ROM date: 04/11/06
Radio version: 1.09.00
Protocol version: 42.42.P8
ExtROM version: 1.30.162 WWE
Then, I ran into this youtube video and it runs as I would expect it to from a 520mhz processor:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UIMvqpxvPDo
The video author sent me these 2 images of the rom he's using:
http://www.aijaa.com/v.php?i=1215198.jpg
http://www.aijaa.com/v.php?i=1215219.jpg
Then, I found this thread for the rom that's actually on the unit.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/archive/index.php/t-291429.html
Regardless of all of that, I'm curious what I should do to get my uni to run at these speeds? And, is it a good idea to run wm6 on a wm5 device?
I am using this Rom build,as it seems the most stable and fast to me.
Actually I cooked the Rom to my needs.
If you want to try it,pm me.
This is an old ROM...
I'd say use the new one it's on thread : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=342944
I haven't flashed it yet but I've read the forum and it seems fast and stable.
Hey thanks for the replies... I'll definitely try the roms. A couple questions though:
How do I find out which uni I have? G3 or G4?
And,
How do I flash my device? Is there a guide somewhere?
Thanks!
I was reading this page: http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Uni_ROM_Upgrade
But, I can't seem to enter the bootloader. You press the on/off button then soft reset? Right? When I do this it just soft resets like normal, with no boot loader at all.
To enter bootloader...
Hi,
To enter the bootloader you need to press the light and on/off button while pressing the soft-reset button with the stylus. So first press both the light and on/off buttons then do the soft-reset and this will put the device into the bootloader...
Ok I press light/onoff/reset, but the bootloader doesn't work. Also, when I hold in the light/onoff buttons after I press the reset, the device doesn't boot at all!
What happens when in bootloader...
Okay here we are press the light and on/off button then press the stylus into the reset button all of this must be done simultaneously... The device won't reboot but it will come up with a screen showing Serial at the top and a number at the bottom - this is without a backlight so look at it in good light. The number is what they are talking about when they tell you to look for anything below 1.99999 or above 2.0000.
Hah. Duh, of course there's no backlight. Well I definitely have a G4 unit.
The next question is: I'd like to verify that my uni is in fact unlocked, but the link to the CID/EROM utility on wiki doesn't work... anyone know a utility I can use to make sure my uni is in fact unlocked?
Ok I found the utilities to make that work, but after I install the new Rom some hardware buttons don't work (the on/off, directional buttons, camera, display, etc.).
However, the keypad buttons work, which is weird. Anyone know what's going on?
First port of call...
Okay now that you have the new ROM, first thing to do is perform a Hard Reset which clears all the old settings out of the registry, extended ROM and file system... To do this you need to press the two function keys (look like this "__" on the keyboard and then used the stylus to press the reset button it will ask if you want to reset the phone to the factory settings, which you do so press 0. Hopefully this sorts your problems out. If the problems persist just reflash and hard reset and it should be okay...
Ah. It was all the extended Rom cabs that O2 had in. I put them in a backup Rom and now everything works great I think! Will post if I have problems. Thanks! I'm so happy my uni is now functioning like it should!
Hey Guys,
I have recently bought an Axim x51v and want to upgrade it to WM6, hoever my problem is this, i doenload the chosen new rom which in this case will now be Football's WM6.1 A08 rom, but when i do the restart the bootloader doesent load? so my question is this:
1. Am i doing it correctly - Power + Wifi + Reset button in the back with the stylus then release wifi?
2. If not how is it done,
3. Would i have needed to install the bootloader previously? if so how is this done?
4. Can any of this be done via USB from my PC?
Many thanks for any help on this i am rather anewbie, i previously used an updated rom to update my Orange SPV M3100 (HTC Hermes) which if i remember came with its own PC based flashing utility which made life loads easier.
Any help would be great!
Cheers

Here is what you need to do:
1. You need to format an SD card with 32bit file system.
2. You copy the image and its .CRC in that SD card.
3. You put the SD card in your Axim.
4. You press simulatanously the WiFi+Power+reset.
5. You let go the stylus from the reset once you see the bootloader message.
6. It will take some time to load then it will ask you press the Action key.(the middle one).
7. It will again take some time to flash your Axim. Do not power off or intrupt the process otherwise you will kill your Axim.
8. After completing the flashing process it will ask to hard reset (i.e reset+Power).
REMEMBER: Flashing your Axim will void your warranty. Think twice if you still have an extended warranty.
Hope everything goes well.
Bootloader
Hey thanks for the reply i tried your method however dont get a bootloader message? the screen just stay black , i prob sat for about 10 mins waiting then when i release the buttons it just comes up with the restore factory settings screen?
any ideas?
Many thanks,
P.s. not sure if it makes a difference but im still running the default version of WM5 which was shipped with the device, it hasent been previously flashed (to my knowledge).
I believe you dont hold onto the wifi + power + reset all the time. Try holding the wifi + power first, then push reset and let go of it. Wait until the bootloader come up and then release the other 2. Its been a while since I flash so not really sure but I believe thats the way to do it.
Try this little YouTube video. Is it the exact same procedure with your x51v !
Ah Brilliant it worked, wireless and power, then just press the reset in once and it went straight in!
Many thanks for this guys!
Hi all, I have a problem with my MDA Pro, my phone usually use WM6 OS but when I come back the T-Mobile WM5 Original ROM, the backlight button can not be used, click and nothing happen. I hope someone will help me to sovle this problem. Thanks a lot!
I think ,maybe you should change another ROM on you MDA PRO,this problem was happend in my Universal,at last, the only way is use another ROM.
By the way,you can try to:start->setting>button , to set you backlight button.
Good luck to you!
Mine's an spv m5000 (UK-Orange). When I got the phone (2nd hand) it had the problem you described, although I knew it worked as it would get me into bootloader mode. Strangely, flashing Ranju's 6.1 made it work again.
Thanks for everybody! I've had a solution to solve this problem, I downloaded a program: "Ivan Light Bulb 2" and after install it into my device, the backlight button works again. Great!
Hi Guys,
I am aware of how to upgrade a ROM, how to Use HardSPL and how modifying in general works, although I think I may have really broken the phone now.
I had OliNex 1.40 installed since forever. I have used several Roms in the past including EnergyROM, Ahen's Roms and I have currently been using Makeveral's BSB6.5O Rom, and it was working great.
The last time I tried to use the unlock, i tried to flash it with the 'Subrata' unlock package (the one with Step 1,2 and 3' folders. It didnt work both times I tried so I gave up. It said it was unable to write to the phone. I reflashed with BSB Rom and all was well.
Today, I found a seperate unlocker. It was a simple .exe file that opened up what appeared to be the 'CustomRUU' application. The screen initially went black and then the program said that it lost connectivity. I did read that it used Cmonex HardSPL but I did it anyway (I take responsability for this error) and from then on, the phone will not boot. No matter what combination of Hard reset button combinations I use, nothing happens. No vibration, no light around the centre button that I can see, nothing.
So is there anything, anything at all that I can do? Or have i totally F**ked it?
I have also done alot of searching both on here, PPCgeaks, all the forums.
Let me know, cheers guys.
I had a similar problem: Screen was black, no reaction from the phone. But i was able to connect it to my computer, it was not really detected, even though
i was able to flash a new Rom with a Custom RUU. Perhaps you could try that?
Try to change the rom . Pull out the stylus , Press the reset button and hold the VOLUME DOWN and the right down button . After connect to pc
The phone is in an Off state - I recharged the battery in it overnight - no white glowing ring around the centre button. No combination of buttons work - nothing happens and the device is off still.
OK, regardless of what has happened, Ive sent the phone to Victoria (Australia) to be repaired or replaced under warranty.
I just hope that it is so scrambled that they cant figure out that the device has been toyed with - will keep everyone updated!
btw - does anyone understand what technicians with more advanced tools would be able to determine (if anything)? Do they use special hardware to view the contents of the ROM or how does it all work?
thanks friends
Well..not exactly, but they have probably tools to examine the flash/memory/parts of the phone. interesting question
Update!
I sent the phone away to the Three mobile repair centre - the phone is back, fully repaired and Running BsB again.... just awesome.
it seem they replaced all the components of the phone except for the shell itself, I dont really know why they didnt just replace the phone? lol
EDIT: I forgot to mention that I told them the phone wouldn't boot after an overnight charge - thanks 3!
Sorry for bumping.
I have the same problem! I used the same program; 'DiamonCustomRUU.exe'
The screen became black. I can't open the bootmenu, soft- and hardreset doesn't work
It's a Dutch branded Vodafone TD.
I have to send it to Vodafone for repairing?
Hi guys, looked a lot of threads on this forum but didn't see one similar to my situation!!!
My HTC P3300 Artemis is dead in a very strange way.
-Had it for a week with WM5(factory, german) - had no problem.
-After a week i've installed the WIN6.5WWV from Shady, from this forum - everything was ok the system worked fine (did the USPL unlock before installing)
-The device worked for around a week and yesterday just died while i started a ringtone from my additional flash of 8G SDHC within the device (had no problem with the flash before)
-A note - while on 6.5, the device had different issues with stability, had to restart once in a while.
Description of death :
1. Power button does not start the device(?!)
2. Trying to Hard reset (2 soft buttons + Reset with the stylus) - firstly i get a black screen that asks for confirmation, i press the green button to confirm. I see the text :
Format FAT partition
Format is completed!!
Then a WM logo appears on the screen with a red text in upper left corner:
IPL 1.12.0001
SPL 1.11.0000
And the phone freezes in this state.(?!) - does it mean the SPL is freezing? because before that i saw like 4 lines written with red, now only 2, the last being with SPL.
PS:
-Tried to take out the battery and repeat all steps, tried to put charger to make sure the power is constant (don;t ask, just tried .
-Tried to take off battery, wait for 20 minutes, then repeat
-Tried to take battery, wait for one night and repeat (actually i didn't wait, i just went to bad, it was night already
-Tried the bootloader mode (the Power+Voice+Reset)- it works fine, but don;t know if this helps.
What could be wrong? Is it a hardware issue? Very strange!!
Thanks for your time
Have a good one
maybe u can flash it again in bootloader? that could solve the problem?
if else, it looks like a hardware issue or the phone is bricked.

Yesterday I tried to install from flash like described here - and it was dieing all the time at "Reading from SD" - the screen was becoming bright white and it just shut down. (tried 4 times with same result, only that the moment when the screen went white was different - from 5 seconds to 2-3 minutes)
Right now, when i wanted to reply about this, i said to myself, let me try one more time!!! What do you think???? It worked!!!!
Reading from SD (1-2 minutes)--> Flashing OS (2-3 minutes) and after this it was DONE!!!!
Shuuuush!!! HTC is so weird!!!
Thanks for the help ) i think there are 2 logical ways to go next:
A) Just use it and hope it's gonna be all right in future
B) Install a generic WM not a cooked one. And maybe it's wize to downgrade to WM6.1 or WM6?
What do you recommand?
Have a good one!!
I'm so happy i fixed it!!
well u can safely use a cooked rom, if read a few topics that it can occur sometimes that a cooked rom isnt good flashed the first time. maybe that was the case with your phone, who knows
