Hi
I keep seeing links referencing universal ROMs on the ftp site, but all the links are dead. I am assuming that:
ftp://ftp.xda-developers.com/Universal/
is the ftp root for the universal, but its empty. Anyone know where all the files are?
Nigel
Most of us do not have write or create permission anymore. Perhaps this will make it easier to figure out just who is doing this, and put an end to it.
Dah
There are some ruddy idiots about... what *is* the point?
Nigel
ftp://xda:[email protected]/Universal/ has some folders i.e. shipped updates
butt also emty!!
This is the upload directory for the universal:
ftp://xdaupload:[email protected]/Universal
everybody who's logged in should be able to put files here
Than the ftp admins will move the files to the ftp root if their useable for the device
Now somebody should tell us who the person is that deleted all the files from the root (accident or purpose)
Missing files...
Lets ask the admin then

Microsoft have released Windows Media Player 10 Mobile but only to manufacturers. It is not, and will not be, available as an update or download unless your manufacturer provides an update or updated ROM.
I pulled a ROM update down from one of the OEMs whove done an update and could extract the files for WMP10M, but I'm not sufficiently up with the whole ROM cooking thing to incorporate them into a new ROM for my Blue Angel.
Anyone fancy giving this a go ?
Can you Zip the files and Upload here?
yeah, let the expert assist you.
I am very keen to have WMP 10 too.
just upload the ms.nbf file of that ROM and the rest is up to us.
This is a link to the ROM update for the Dell Axim x30 that contains WMP10 :
http://support.dell.com/support/dow...eviceid=6672&devlib=7&releaseid=R87096&p=HTTP
I downloaded this and used a tool (which I now cant find - doh!) to extract it.
What else would you guys need ?
Do you need a copy of my current ROM ?
If so, how do I make a copy of it ?
Sorry, that last post was me...forgot to login.
i have downloaded the file.
After extracting, i found 2 *.IMG
therefore, i try to use UltraISO or MagicISO just to extract *.IMG but it fails.
Some other experts may need to participate
I presume DumpRom will not help us.. Mamaich?
What kind of Pocket Pc have you upgraded? Dell ??
OK.
I got an iPAQ rom update from HP here : http://h18007.www1.hp.com/support/files/handhelds/us/download/22279.html
I ran it so it copied the filees onto my PC hard drive.
I then ran dumprom.exe against the d2b10110uo.nbf file and got all the files from the ROM.
I have them all in a zip file as I am not sure exactly which ones are required for WMP10M. I have zipped up and attached all the ones that look as though they are WMP10M related.
i suppose all the files has to be zip into *.CAB
and copy over to PDA and unzip it
is this all the files that belongs to WMP?
i think let the expert do some testing

Sorry, tried to upload but it keeps failing.
Anyone tried copying the files in wm.zip to their xda2 and trying to run wmplayer.exe ?
wanna try but at work with no cradle
Locked up after a few seconds of the "wait" icon on my PDA2K running 1.31 WWE and 1.06.02 Radio.
First you are missing many WmFiles, there are many that are not begin to Wmxxxx, but unfortunately I can't remeber others.
And I think DumpRom is missing relocation on Dll files, like discussed time ago
I thought someone had mentioned that WMP10 software is "somehow" tied into the hardware or the OS specific to the devices so it wouldnt be possible to extract the executable application and make a cab or whatever and run it on any other devices that it didnt ship with...
I'm no guru with ROMs and stuff.. but if any one of you guys manages to make this work, it will be awesome!
Good luck!
i heard someone had the cab or a way to install wmp10 ... anyone here knows how?
i'm really keen to upgrade my MDA Pro (running ePlus UMTS flatrate). keep looking at the different posts, but can't find the files that are refered to on the FTP server - especially the .RAR file that is continuously mentioned.
after reading through the posts i'd like to do the XDA coprorate install as it seems to give the best performance and the cleanest install.
BUT if i can't find the files on the FTP server i can't do it...
poor me!
any help would be greatly appreciated!
p.s. i AM looking in the right folder...i see some things I need, but not everything!
Hey Everybody, I downloaded WM6 and it worked like a charm. However, for Office Mobile, can you only edit documents that you already have saved or can you start a new document. I tried starting a new document, but it word, excell, and powerpoint take me to the file explorer page. Can anyone help me please?
help with what exactly?
you can't create a new doc, just edit.
the work around is to create blanks on your pc and save them on your phone. just edit the blank and save as.
if you use bittorrent you can download Office Mobile and install it. Worked for me, but not on WM5 when I reverted back.
@sam1964:
look at this thread at modaco forum (you must register to download files).
Newchurch
I downloaded modaco's app, it works great. How did you download office mobile? I see you said bit torrent, do I just put Office Mobile in and search?
How do you download the modaco app?
Can anyone give me a detailed way of how to download modaco's app please?
register at their site and then you can download it.

... didn't I say that ? ; )
How to properly unzip the file and install CAB file for the Modaca app?
I tried unzipping the modaco file and that worked out perfectly. However, when I download the CAB file in the my documents folder in the phone. next, when I try to open the CAB file in the my documents folder, then the phone says cannot open the specified file because it has to be associated with a program that I have already downloaded. Can anyone give me a step by step way of dowloading it please?

*ding* *ding* I think we have a winner for most ignorant post of the day. Just kidding. Really though, you're in the wrong section for the forum for the mpx200, and the mpx200 is so damn old that the support for it has ended, which means that there's no way in hell wm6 is going to be put out on it. In fact, WM5 final was never released for the device.
For those of you who want japanese input, Just install Asukal's files as usual
and then copy the WM6 wince.nls to the /windows directory BEFORE you soft reset.
I have taken the liberty of extracting the wince.nls from the jpn rom and bundled
it in a rar together with Asukal's cabs for anyone who wants.
JPN.rar
Enjoy
P.s if someone wants to stick the wince.nls in the "LetsJapanNo5x.cab" and make it even easier feel free.
download limit reached....
Can somebody post another link?
Thanks!!
Here try THIS one
ISK, thanks man! I did get it. Just haven't been online for the last couple of days! (dead internet). Cheers for that!
mine doesnt work i try to copy it and i say yes when it ask me to delete the other file but it says access is denied
It screwed my WM6.5 ...
Hi, everyone! I´m still working on a Wizard (don´t want to touch my Hermes, yet). I´m pretty advanced... but
I dump the [latest] original cingular WM5. I rebuilt it with office 2007 and realize that the original shortcuts are still there. Of course, they are both useless (as I have new names for the apps) and annoying (because I can´t remove them before compiling).
This is the whole point: Those shortcuts are not coming from neither an xml update for the XIP nor an initflashfiles.txt
HOW ON EARTH DO I REMOVE THEM. I can´t find what is creating and copying those shortcuts
Are they embedded in the OS.nb file? If so, how do I take that file apart?
Any help is very much appreciated!
..provxml, m8..
Nope, had checked already
*.mopvxml, etc had been checked.
But... what did you mean by m8?.
BTW: I will check inside os.nb now, but please give me fresh ideas
You may also want to check for a file called initflashfiles.dat. That contains a lot of shortcut information as well. Especially for apps that are default for that particular ROM. It should be found in the OEM\OEM_LANG_* folder in the kitchen. The (*) is the locale number. For example, a WWE ROM would have the folder as OEM_LANG_0409.
Yep, solved (initflashfiles.dat)
Hey, thanks! You´re FAST!
I was about to post it. But thanks, you could have saved me hours
Anyways. If anyone ever reads this thread, remember: scavenging os.nb(a) isn´t that great. An automated kitchen does it all (Hypercore in this case).
I also found somebody claiming that certain shortcut came from a dll. Just keep as a sidenote.
Cheers!
