My pda has just started to constantly reboot - after the usual blue i-mate screen it briefly displays the windows tap-here to setup message, then reboots again. Does anyone know what might be wrong ?

Hey, so I bought a 8525 cingular(at&t) yesturday. The guy sold it to me cheap because he said when he upgraded it to the vp3... somethin which is WM6 the touch screen didnt work anymore. But he was able to get passed the, "TAP THE SCREEN TO SET UP YOUR WINDOWS MOBILE-BASED DEVICE" screen in the beginning. I was wondering if anyone would know how to get the tap screen up and running again. I flashed the whole ROM, I upgraded the radio, & installed WM black Satin. But its stuck at that tap the screen ****, and my tap screen still doesnt work.. Anyone have any solutions? Maybe Downgrade to WM5 would work? anything I could try would be great.
Respond ASAP if you guys can, this is my only phone, and need it to make calls. Thanks

If a reflash of rom doen't help then I'm guessing you need to send it in for service. Don't think any other software will do any good at all.
temp solution at least
put a blank file called "welcome.not" in the root of your storage card. In this way the whole thing gets passed by when you hard reset or flash new ROM.
you may later try to align screen using buttons or I can make you a cab for that.
cheers,
dan
Hey Dan1967 I would appreciate it if you could make me a cab for the alignment. I had tried that without the cab file, but your right, I doesnt work without a mod. Also, where exactly would I drop the welcome.not filel for this all to work?

it is written in my message where to put the file...
do that and if you can not realign by buttons than your touch is indeed useless, but the device may still used with some reduced functionality
Try this link. Im 100% sure you can bypass the screen alignment.

oops i posted a wrong link.
Try this one instead.

where is my storage device located. R u referring to my microSD chip?
does anyone here think it could possibly be the touch.dll.. maybe when the dude upgraded to WM6 the touch.dll file got corrupted. Any info on this could help. And if someone does thinks this happened. How would I go about reinstalling the touch.dll
thanks for the link .. i was stuck with having my iPaq hard reset & my touchscreen not working .. this helped..

My touch screen goes white
Hi there, does anyone know why my screen on my tytn goes all white sometimes - i have to put it in and out of sleep to get it going again?
I tried to do a firmware upgrade (HA_VZW_207_117_01167_A12.exe from Verizon) on my BA using ActiveSync 4.5 from a Vista Ultimate workstation. The upgrade process stopped and now I have dim screen with the word "Serial" at the top and "v1.02" at the bottom. The BA does not respond to any buttons, hard resets, battery removal, etc. What did I do, can it be fixed, and how do I do it? Thanks for any insights and help.
more on Serial v1.02
I should have added this:
I have tried holding Power + Record + stylus in Reset hole, but when I do, the screen display does not change, still Serial v1.02.
I get the "bedunk" sound when I put the BA in the cradle but no light on the BA indicating that it is charging and no indication in ActiveSync that the BA is connected.
When I run the upgrade firmware program, I get a Error 101: Connection error.
Problem is Vista?
Just got everything to work on an XP workstation. Maybe it is a Vista problem thing.
Verizon should have posted an instruction how to upgrade under Vista environment...try searching their forum. It has to be somewhere!

The same thing happened to me when I tried to upgrade my phone to WM6. What I did was to restart everything and resume upgrading. Hope this help.
I had same problem, and I solved it applying original rom update for appropriate device.
Using other rom updates it was giving errors or it was not working at all.
My PDA is Blue Angel - QTek 9090 and I used BA_WWE_14000_147_11200_Ship.exe
Now is everything working
Hope it will help you, too

Have seldom had any issues with my Orbit on WM6. However, today, after taking my SIM out to use in my Data Card, on powering up my Orbit, it freezes on boot.
It goes through to the point where the green Windows Mobile screen is displayed, but then displays the Volume sliders and freezes. I seem unable to get past that point - the pointer doesn't move and the Orbit will not switch off. Doing a 'poke the hole' reset just does the same thing; with or without the SIM, with or without the 2Gb Memory card.
Anyone help please? Can anyone tell me how to do a 'cold start' from the buttons?
Thanks.

Hi. I have exactly the same problem today. Is a cold re-start the only way to cure this? Or does anyone else have a work around that doesn't involve me losing everything....
p.s. Std ROM - but that may change if I have to cold-start!
