Operator Logo - XDAII S - UK O2 - MDA III, XDA III, PDA2k, 9090 General

Is it possible to remove that crappy O2 Logo?
Max

Perform a hard reset on the device, and sit with it while it reloads - when you get to prompt screen to either install Corporate mode or Personal, select Corp and enter the code 0506 this will stop the O2 Cr*p from being put on the device - it actually turns it into a nice unit - by the way there is a new ROM upgrade (44MB download from there site) that further improves the unit, avail from O2 so if you take the hit of a hard reset use the opertunity to load that at the same time - Mike

ROM Upgrade of Imate-Jam (O2 XDA2 Mini) Failure, HELP!!!

Dear all,
I just got my imate jam (sold in Telstra shop in Australia) on last Friday, yesterday, I tried to upgrade the ROM as followed the instructions from http://www.clubimate.com/.
As imate jam has only one USB port which is connected to PC (Microsoft Active Sync 3.8) and there is no cradle, only 30s after I tried to update the ROM, then the USB is disconnected suddenly, and after that my Imate Jam has a black screen (it's like the backlight has been set to the lowest setting). I can see the word Serial 1.0, and if I try to connect to the USB again, it will display USB 1.0. Nothing more than that. Soft or Hard Reset doesn't change anything
Anyone knows how to bring it back to life, otherwise, I will return to the Shop since I only bought it for 3 days, hopefully, they will give me a new unit to replace this "dead" Jam
When I did the upgrade, the battery is at 100%, so there is enough power, but I can't understand why.
The ROM & Instruction are download from the page
http://www.clubimate.com/index.asp?PageAction=JAM
I've downloaded the Generic version of the ROM with the name ma_cdlsku1_wwe_10300_143_10100_ship.exe (28 MB)
with the following information :
The details of the current ROM image (found under Start -> Settings -> Device Info):
Rom version 1.03.00 WWE
Radio version 1.01.00
ExtROM version 1.03.143 WWE (Generic)
(PS. Sorry you may not be able to see that particular page and instruction if you are not a member for that site)
Any suggestions are highly appreciated.
Cheers
Wallace
PS. One more question, how likely is it for the Imate Jam / O2 XDA2 Mini to upgrade to Windows 2005 Mobile once it is available??
You are luckily in the Bootloader mode. I crashed during my PDA2K upgrade and found settings to get it into Bootloader mode and the upgrade was able to rerun and put the ROMs back in place. Try disconnecting, rebooting your PC (start clean), then, with the Jam in Bootloader mode still, relaunch the upgrade utility. Let me know if that works.
Also, do a search here on how to get the Bootloader to launch on your JAM if you need to pull your battery and power it back up again to it.
Oops ...
I've returned my imate Jam to the shop, and for some reason, they can do a hard reset on the phone (which I tried to press the power button and the reset buttons many times before), and so the screen comes up ...
And of course I told them I lost confidence in the phone blah blah ... and I want to replace a new phone ... So now they have sent my phone back to Telstra and need the Telecom's approval for a replacement unit ...
Once they approve it (it takes a week they said), I will ask for an O2 XDAII Mini instead. As in Australia, the imate phone has been customized by Telstra so it will by default shows the ugly logo of Telstra, whereas O2 will still display O2, and it has the options to choose which provider under "programs" ...
In the first 2 days, I need to soft reset the imate jam quite a number of times, I set the password so after the phone is unused, it will be locked ... but sometimes when I tried to unlock it, I couldn't ... I mean the number pad (virtually in the screen) has no reaction when I pressed it ... so I was forced to reset the imate jam a number of times, I suspect it might be problems from Telstra's customisation to the phone, but anything can happen so I just guess ...
Hope to get a new replacement phone soon ... as I only got the phone for 3 days ...

CLEAN O2 XDA IIs Reset (Skip ALL crap o2 software install)

I was reading through some previous threads on how to get rid of the dreaded O2 Active software that installs upon a Hard Reset.
One of the options people gave was to do a hard reset and select the infamous "Corporate Mode". Unfortunately I did not have this corporate mode option with my version of the ROM (1.31 WWE).
What I did notice, however, was after the Hard Reset, all this crap O2 software installs itself with a convenient little "warning" message stating it will do so.
In order to skip the O2 software install, just do a quick soft reset right before the software begins to install itself, and score, a fresh CLEAN O2 free install!
PS: I was also having problems getting T-Mobile GPRS to work on this device. But after a nice clean install with no O2 crud, GPRS worked fine.
All good - one major problem...
No MMS Settings - not even the MMS Options in menu!
Someone suggested on another forum to copy the .cab from ext ROM first, I cannot do this with File Explorer.
On a Palm I would use Filez - any similar prog for PPC?
Alternatively - how did you overcome this yourself if you have another way?
The hard reset once re-booted should start to load the OS at the end of this you are presented with a screen (for around 30 Sec) it is at this stage you select Corporate mode and enter the 0506 key - if you leave the device unattended then it will time out and load all the active rubish that wrecks the phone - mike
All sorted thanks.
Did the Corporate start so clean machine. Still got some crap.
So, instead soft reset just after hard reset before ANYTHING installed. Then installed all the .cab files that did not have O2 in the name from ext ROM. The MMS details I wrote down prior to Hard reset this time.
Sorted! Yay!
After the hard reset and corp install - what remained on the unit that you didn't want? - just interested - Mike

Exec O2 Active UI Uninstall

untill the orange ROm comes out i am stuck with the Exec for now. (better colour than that m5000 anyway).
does anyone know how to remove that bloody O2 ActiveUI tho , its doing my head in and when i try to remove it from Add/Remove it says ininstalled but its still there after a reset
Not sure if you can remove it - i think it has to be done via hard reset and then choosing basic or corporate install with pin code 0506.
any links to where i can get this info to do this or can someone tell me. im gathering its the same as the old jornada 928 when u hold the reset and push the power button
Havent got one of the devices yet - looking to see what O2 can do for me soon.
From what I've read through some of the threads, you need to clear permanent storage or something like that to flush out all the settings.
If i'm wrong, anyone feel free to correct me.
i did a clear storage and it flashed for like 2 sec if i want basic or corp , but i couldent click on it.
anyone got any ideas?

Click to collapse
Following is my way to uninstall O2 Active UI
firstly clear storage
then it will restart automatic
next after restart it will automatic install O2 Active UI at the same press the restart button
finally restart again and O2 Active UI does not install

Update a ROM file. Step by Step.

These steps SHOULD unbrick/flash a ROM onto an XDA Orbit. (Only tested on a UK O2 Orbit as this is the only hardware I have)
Step by step:- (works for me. No promises. So far only on a Windows XP machine)
1. Hard reset phone (press and hold two buttons with white lines next to red and green button while pressing reset with stylus. When text appears on screen, release all buttons, read text and if OK press "send" key. This means the GREEN call key. Screen will show FAT formatted etc.)
2. When phone starts to boot back up press and hold TOP LEFT button (speech dial) while pressing reset to enter bootloader mode (screen changes to 3 colour, red green and blue bands.
3. With PC running (XP only for now) connect USB cable to phone. Windows will conect to phone but Activesync will not show as phone is not running Windows at this point (Bootloader only remember!)
4. Run the ORIGINAL ROM file for your handset. If German phone run GERMAN ROM, if UK phone run UK ROM. This should restore the handset back to its factory settings with WM5 running.
5. If you want to upgrade to WM6 I suggest you unlock phone using imei-check first. Easier to fix later on if something goes wrong. Costs about £28 I think.
6. Download and run USPL program by unpacking and clicking on "start_uspl.exe" NOT by running UpgradeROMUtility.exe. If USPL is successful, which it usually is, when the phone restarts pay attention to the RED number that appear on the bootscreen. SPL should read 1.11.0000.
7. After phone is finished re-booting download and run a ROM of your choice. Should install OK, especially if phone is unlocked and USPL'd
Apparently you can flash any ROM by using only USPL. I have not tried this as I previously "bricked" my handset by NOT running USPL when I should have. Therefore I have only detailed the steps that I take to flash my phone if I need to restore from a bad flash.
So far it works for me.
XDA Orbit running B&B v3.7 (no problem)
I hope that this long winded message helps some people out. This website forum has helped me out, with my Orbit and my old Himalaya device. Time to return the favour.

i780 cannot start after flash

my phone run wm6.1, i downloaded dt39-UltimateROM-v3-MutliLangKB from this forum
- start Mirage_LV_1.8, click PDA button and select dt39-UltimateROM-v3-MutliLangKB
- click detect button. switch off phone to Emergency Mode, and it start flashing...
- after all, the label changed from green to blue, device reset and cannot boot to win, it halt at Samsung boot screen for long time
- i take battery out, and insert back, start again but still this problem
i try to another rom but it still this problem
was I wrong?
after flashing new rom always do hard reset. If any problem - do hard reset...
what if install harmful cab on i780 orange which lack key combinitions for Hard reset
I post here even it is to late because I had a problem of a spanish i780 that did not respond to key combintions of hard reset and boot mode. the only way to HR is by using code *2767*...... I forget it lol. But, when I installed an Arabic MUI cab on it the phone can't start so I have no way to Hard reset now since I can't access to dialer no more. and I can't flash by mirage since I can't use fn+Enter on this wm6 orange tweaked rom phone.
The only Solution for me was to download this rom ziddu.com/download/8450774/i780PDXIB1_Upgrader_VISTA.rar and I used wincotroll program from 4shared and samsung xp driver (using windows 7) then I tweaked the rom installer by draging a loop icone from wincontroll (software tweak tab) to the bottom of rom installer and clicked show then an emergency box appeared ... I checked this box (no need to check charger battery or phone connected boxs) and reset the phone or rebooted it. >>>>>>>>>>>> the phone started flashing and horaaaaay I have wm6.1 now and both key combination are working now.
I was able to flash the phone again and again testing for the best rom now I have 6.5 rom that works very very fine for me
NB: I searched the inside and outside of the Web with no results so I applied this tweak as I do to my omnia i900 when facing (incorrect software essage)
I am sure this can help someone else who still have orange wm6 useless rom on his i780.
