Exec O2 Active UI Uninstall - JASJAR, XDA Exec, MDA Pro Software Upgrading

untill the orange ROm comes out i am stuck with the Exec for now. (better colour than that m5000 anyway).
does anyone know how to remove that bloody O2 ActiveUI tho , its doing my head in and when i try to remove it from Add/Remove it says ininstalled but its still there after a reset

Not sure if you can remove it - i think it has to be done via hard reset and then choosing basic or corporate install with pin code 0506.

any links to where i can get this info to do this or can someone tell me. im gathering its the same as the old jornada 928 when u hold the reset and push the power button

Havent got one of the devices yet - looking to see what O2 can do for me soon.
From what I've read through some of the threads, you need to clear permanent storage or something like that to flush out all the settings.
If i'm wrong, anyone feel free to correct me.

i did a clear storage and it flashed for like 2 sec if i want basic or corp , but i couldent click on it.
anyone got any ideas?

Removing stupid o2 Active GUI from XDAII

HELP!
My xda2 decided to crash (1st time in a year mind!) and i am currently reinstating it to its pre-crash look etc.
I remember when I first got it, i went to explorer/windows and found the o2 active GUI files and binned them, but this time its casuing me hassle and the damed thing wont dissapear. I hard resetted again a few times, no luck with this so I tried add/remove progs. via activesync, but then I lost half my screen......any ideas, I HATE THIS o2 SCREEN!!!
If i remember correctly i removed the o2ActiveUIEngl.CAB file from the extended rom. Then after hard reset its not there to install. You will have to use the extended rom unlocking tool to access it.
I can not check because i have put WM2003SE on the XDAII now.
If you do not want to remove the cab look in your windows/startup dir for a file called connections (i think thats it) this is what displays the O2 graphic at the top.
Then if you click start>settings and then the today icon then the items tab you can remove the active ui link. Soft reboot and you should be about there.
This is all from memory so details may be slightly different but you should be able to get there.
My extended rom is blank at the mo, but I always just used to uninstall o2 active from the "remove programs" tab. It'd come back after a hard reset , but at least then you wouldn't have to manually enter your GPRS settings.
You can cancel the installation while the device is setting up, i have to do that as i've got an o2 branded xda but with an orange sim.
A friend has WM2003 but it ha too many issues for me to risk upgrading yet

CLEAN O2 XDA IIs Reset (Skip ALL crap o2 software install)

I was reading through some previous threads on how to get rid of the dreaded O2 Active software that installs upon a Hard Reset.
One of the options people gave was to do a hard reset and select the infamous "Corporate Mode". Unfortunately I did not have this corporate mode option with my version of the ROM (1.31 WWE).
What I did notice, however, was after the Hard Reset, all this crap O2 software installs itself with a convenient little "warning" message stating it will do so.
In order to skip the O2 software install, just do a quick soft reset right before the software begins to install itself, and score, a fresh CLEAN O2 free install!
PS: I was also having problems getting T-Mobile GPRS to work on this device. But after a nice clean install with no O2 crud, GPRS worked fine.
All good - one major problem...
No MMS Settings - not even the MMS Options in menu!
Someone suggested on another forum to copy the .cab from ext ROM first, I cannot do this with File Explorer.
On a Palm I would use Filez - any similar prog for PPC?
Alternatively - how did you overcome this yourself if you have another way?
The hard reset once re-booted should start to load the OS at the end of this you are presented with a screen (for around 30 Sec) it is at this stage you select Corporate mode and enter the 0506 key - if you leave the device unattended then it will time out and load all the active rubish that wrecks the phone - mike
All sorted thanks.
Did the Corporate start so clean machine. Still got some crap.
So, instead soft reset just after hard reset before ANYTHING installed. Then installed all the .cab files that did not have O2 in the name from ext ROM. The MMS details I wrote down prior to Hard reset this time.
Sorted! Yay!
After the hard reset and corp install - what remained on the unit that you didn't want? - just interested - Mike

Help / Advice Needed Regarding o2 Rom Upgrade for XDA IIi

Hi,
I am in the process of upgrading my rom using the rom upgrade from the o2 www site.
Its been stuck on the
'checking the information on your device....Please wait.....Please do not disconnect your device from the PC or power supply until the upgrade is complete'
window for some time now. I dont know if its hung / crashed or in the middle of upgrading.
I dont want to chance it by removing the unit from the sync cradle but at the same time i dont wanna just leave it there for hours if its not doing anything.
Can anyone help ?
Steve
ps - the window I am speaking about came after the big window stating what your current rom / radio stack was and what they would be updated to giving you the option to click 'update' or 'cancel' I chose 'update' and got the message which I described earlier
Try this on a different PC...I'm assuming the phone itself is still functioning.
I had this a while back with the XDA2 and found that by attempting the upgrade on a laptop I had, it worked great without the hang.
I would then remove ASync completely (including registry items) and then reinstall it.
Cheers
Ant
I had this happen, I just shut down and restarted the installer program

Guide to upgrading Universal with MaUpgradeUt_noID.exe

How to update your rom to the latest I-mate version (with push email) and Radio 1.09.0 using the MaUpgradeUt_noID.exe method
1 – download the file “Universal_Upgrade_v1.30.68_radio_1.09.0.zip” from the ftp site (see bottom of post for details)
2 - double click the file and allow it to unpack into a folder
3 – right click on the active sync icon in your tasks tray on you pc (at the stage you should NOT have you universal plugged in)
4 – select connection setting then untick “allow USB connections”
5 – Now take your Universal and take out the SIM and MEMORY CARD
6 – Press light + power + reset with the phone on, this will place the universal into bootloader mode
7 – Connect your Universal via the USB cable to your computer directly i.e. not though a USB hub
8 – Now double click on the program called “MaUpgradeUt_noID.exe” (found in to folder from step 1) this will start the upgrade process, the first stage takes about 3 to 5 minutes to complete, you will then be presented with a screen showing a “Imate Jam” and some information about what you are upgrading to, don’t be worried if this screen does not show you the version numbers you have at present that is normal.
9 – Now continue with the process by clicking upgrade/next
10 – After sometime (about 20 minutes) you should be at the end screen tell you to unplug and reset you “jam” So now unplug your universal and reset it and that’s all there is to it!
Note that during the upgrade process you can follow the progress by also looking at your universal screen with a light source as the backlight will be off.
I hope this post helps someone as looking around the forum Im amazed by the amount of people asking “how do I upgrade my rom” or “I only get a “country id error” when trying to update”
The “Universal_Upgrade_v1.30.68_radio_1.09.0.zip” file can be found here

Blank screen but do you have the USB or SERIAL written on the Screen?
Rat didn't mention in his post but it comes out in the last screen that it is supposed to be a HARD RESET which will bring about a menu where you have to press 0 (Zero) to ahrd reset the device. hope this helps
Yip, sorry, That's correct. I get the screen that says I have to press 0 to reset or X to exit.
If I press 0 the screen goes blank and stays like that.
I've installed the previous ROM now and it is working perfectly. It's just the new ROM on this page doesn't want to work on my Jasjar.

I downloaded it straight from the first post and it installed flawlessly...
Have you tried installing it from bootloader mode instead of direct update? And without SD card in the PDA? This might work.
BTW, I have returned to the older ROM.... advantages don't outweigh the disadvantages.
My phone keeps on hanging (for the 1st time ever after 5 months use and different ROMs) on the screen where it shows whose calling. I havent answered the call yet but it stops ringing. When i open the PDA it has ANSWER on the left softkey and pressing this doesn't do anything. Will wait for the release..
It is a lot faster thought (the test ROM)
Thanks for the info. I'm not gonna bother upgrading now. I'll wait for a decent ROM later.
Thanks m8
umm - stupid question I know.....
But what does this actually DO??
I understand that this will upgrade the radio stack and thus produce better reception etc - but what else will it do??
If I have an Orange M5000 will I still be able to use it on Orange's network?? Do i need to fill in any settings? Do I need to make notes of certain stuff beforehand? If so - what settings?
I assume this will totally rewrite the registry and what programs are on teh device - or will it??
I suppose a lot of this information is available on the forum - but tracking it down can take a lot of time for someone who's not necessarily that 'au fait' with the working of the device.

I also have an orange M5000 which I would like to get off Orange to use my Vodafone SIM - would installing this new ROM be the way to go ?
not if your phone is simlocked (or network locked). new rom is only the software.
Yeah, sorry
Just reading the other thread on this - sorry , am a relative newby.
It looks like MachineGod and Buzz are on the case though - and with their track record........
I wanted to confirm that Ratcom's file he linked to is good (not corrupt) and his method for upgrade works. Nice work, Ratcom.

o2 Graphite build WM6.5English beta1!!!!!

Greetings to all!!!I represent you first the european the build WM6.5 Standart, language, only english!!!!!It is made on a basis OEM-parts from WM6.0 O2 UK,with kitchen use amazingosp from is forum ioicn.com.cn,build OS has given ALEUT from is forum wce.by http://www.4shared.com/account/file/134858805/26201766/WM65Eng.html The problem with the chamber is solved. The reference has updated.
I tried using this and got nothing. It seems to be running, but doesn't flash the phone. What's the deal with the WM5storage .jpg? The instructions are not in English so is it prompting us to use a particular setting? When it apparently finishes, it just sits there waiting for the phone to reboot, which also never happens...Try again please, or post some instructions.

Yes,so
Ok, It works. Here's how I accomplished it, and some of the features you will find in this rom. I used WINXP Pro SP3.
1. Disable (uncheck) "Allow USB" and "Allow Connections to one of the following" (Comm Ports) settings in Active Sync 4.5
2. Double click the EZBOOT.exe and then click the NEXT button (it's in a language that my computer can't read, so just assume the NEXT button is on the LEFT).
3. With the unit off, and the sim inserted, but no storage card, insert the USB cable and hold the joystick to the DOWN position (this is where many get confused, its the down or south direction, toward your body, NOT pressed IN), and press the power button at the same time. You will see it enter bootloader mode, and it says updating on the phone screen.
4. Now click the NEXT button on the EZBOOT program and it will flash your unit.
5. It took about 15 minutes and I was using a UK version O2 XDA Graphite, with the official WM6 O2 rom.
6. You will see red and green bars going left to right on your phone. Don't panic, it's normal.
7. It seems to finish the last bit faster than the rest, and reboots to the normal O2 Welcome screen, and then a NEW ORANGE Windows 2nd screen, then to the setup screen, with all the normal options.
8. The default homescreen is called Sliding Panel, and there is another new one called Sliding Panel Media which adds shortcuts for playing music, and viewing photos. I am sure someone has written a review of WM6.5 so I will leave the other descriptions for other websites.
A few notes:
it uses bootloader Eboot ver:UK_V3.4.0_XB FUU
and it SAYS you will be flashing OS M_V6.1.0_SZT_080320 and
RADIO V3.17.2 P10_2008-03-20 but I ended up with
RADIO V 2.17.2 P9_2007-06-11 so I guess my radio didn't change? No problem, I made sample texts and calls with zero issues.
The threaded text messaging is kinda cool and the sliding shortcut functions of the homescreen is handy...
In Settings/About it reads: Windows Mobile 6.5 Standard CE OS 5.2.23017 (build 23017.5.3.0). I am guessing that a hard reset will change my radio, but I will leave it for now, as it seems to be working ok. Thanks to cubaseda for the rom.

If you try it and it doesn't allow you to flash, then the answer is still Yes, if you use ResHacker, and Open EZBOOT.exe in Reshacker.
Then modify the part of the package which is responsible for telling you that the phone you plugged in is not an XDA Graphite. And its actually correct, as the device name for Asian graphites is something like "O2 Graphite" not "XDA Graphite" which is what the installer is expecting. SO - Expand the node in the tree on the left that says "String Table" and then expand the node "3". Click the "1033" node, and you'll get some text displayed on the right. Look for a like that says: 34, "Xda Graphite" and change it to your device's name so it looks like this: "34, "O2 Graphite".
Click File -> Save As and save the updated package as something like UpdatedInstaller.exe.

Oh cool i wondered if there would be a ROM for this cool phone. I been looking for a while now. I will test.
Would be great to see more roms for this phone. I will test all new roms.
Hmm, i use windows 7 and tried this flash every way, it starts to flash then errors after 5 mins and doesn't do it. When it errors the usb makes a noise so it is like it stops communicating so not to flash. I'll have to flash on a m8's pc.
............
I got it upgraded successfully. Thanks a lot

This ROM requires completion. For those services O2 are necessary to a clod, i will lay out the special version later.Personally to me, it is not necessary, since in Russia and the adjacent countries there is no operator O2,and I consider the smartphone as Asus Jupiter
