Re: Seimens or Siemens what ever - MDA III, XDA III, PDA2k, 9090 General

Re: Seimens or Siemens what ever
Never purchase pocket pc's from that company they are notorious for dropping off of the face of the earth and then reapearing with a new product.
AT&T was the worst company I dealt with since Worldcom and if you knew what they did?

Cingular Pulls SX66?

From the pdaPhoneHome forums:
http://www.pdaphonehome.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=43378
Anyone know why?
There are a few theories out there.
(1) Cingular intends on selling only locked handsets from now on - the SX66 was not locked
(2) Cingular intends on hacing DUN disabled so people don't use cheap GPRS/EDGE plans on their phones to connect to their laptops thus getting freebies
(3) Cingular could not control something about the unit - thus went bye bye.
The SX66 barely hit the shelves. I was lucky to get one. The PDA2K and IIs cost a lot of moolah compared to the SX66 (SIM-free --> $650 compared to $900 SIM-Free PDA2K vs $1100 for IIs)

I didn't realize it was unlocked. I managed to get one myself. I thought the reason it was pulled was because there were a lot of Bluetooth issues + other bugs that hadn't been resolved by the Siemens firmware update from last week. (although for me, it has always worked fairly well).

insurance on a o2 xda IIs in the USA???

hi i own a o2 xda IIs and im currently using it with cingular i started this acct with cingulars model the siemens sx66 but i love the black ones look and the camera, and wow o2 connect is the best anywas, i was wondering what if my unit was loast or stolen or broken, is there any type of insurance, mainly for repairs. or will the manufacture cover this unit even though im not where the unit was sold primarly.
thanks in advance

I was wondering the same thing, I am with T-Mobile the only thing that I know you could do is use your SX every once in a while so the IMEI stays in their system, they only do a scan every once few weeks or so. If your device gets lost still call it in. They will more than likely verify that you are using the Siemens phone at the time (Answer YES) pay the deductible unlock it and trade/sell it to replace your XDA.
Ok, I have something even better for you..
Listen to this:
"Mobile ProTech (www.mobileprotech.com) insured mobile devices (including cell phones) valued at less than $250 for $2 per year, devices worth ip to $400 for $60 per year, and devices priced up to $550 for $100 per year. The company even insures used phones purchased on ebay. The phone simply has to be activated and in working condition before you set up a policy."

Phone Insurance-MDA Vario

Hi guys, I have just got my self a MDA Vario from T-mobile who offered me insurance, i took it out but there is a slight complication.
My contract was given to me by my older sister so everything in the acc is in her name, so when the upgrade was done and the insurance came to my address it has her name and bank details on it. The agreement my sister and I had was that i pay for everything on the Phone, which is what i do but now the Insurance company (Fonesafe) won't change the policy bank details because they cannot change the acc holders name.
i have tried to cancel the policy an get a new policy with the insurance company but now im told that they cannot insure a Vario as its a "T-Mobile" phone and they won't insure it without T-Mobile doing the policy for me,(sounds like a whole load of crap to me)
Anyway my question to you guys out there is does anyone out there know of a good insurance company that does good deals on our sort of phones for a good price? Seeing as T-Mobile are that incompitant that they can't even set up insurance for their own phones.
Thanks to everyone who can help me on this one.
Ash
try these
Make sure you take out the 'Loss' policy as the theft policy involves violent crime only - So no pick pocket etc.....

TP2 on Vodaphone - upgrades & customer service

I'm considering getting a TP2 through Vodaphone.
Are Vodaphone good at making ROM updates available? I'm currently with T-Mobile using an MDA Vario III, they've only recently released the WM 6.1 update, so I'm worried that Vodaphone may not make the Wm6.5 update available for a long time for the TP2.
Also, does anyone have any opinions about Vodaphone's customer service. I'm looking at a business contract. In some ways it'd be a shame to leave T-Mobile as their business customer service has been so good (at least for me). Another reason I'm looking at Vodaphone is for the Access Gateway (femtocell). They have this available, whereas T-Mobile's version has not surfaced yet. I'm in a poor reception area for T-Mobile, but Vodaphones coverage maps indicate their coverage is better.
So far Vodaphone are ticking most of the boxes. Would I be jumping too soon? Maybe hang on for T-Mobile to make the TP2 available? I guess if the rumours of Vodaphone taking over T-Mobile business services come to fruition, it might be a while before it gets blended into the Vodaphone services and coverage.
I've been with Vodafone for ages and have never had a problem. Customer service very good in shops and over the phone. Trashed my new Xperia in MTB accident and was offered any phone replacement there and then because I had a business account (and insurance, of course). They don't offer the Xperia anymore so I had to wait for the TP2 to come available, which it did last week.
I was sorry to see the Xperia go but after a few days with the TP2 I'm delighted that I changed. Xperia screen was just a smidge too small for my eyesight.
Don't know about their ROM updates as I was using Itje's and smarberg's and downloading from this site every few days!
Thanks Pingu_3D, thats good to know.
Regards
Mike
I am with VF for about 10 years.
Customer Service is no problems at all.
ROM Upgrade - I wouldn't rate them at the top of the list. They take an awfully lot of time to pass on a ROM upgrade.

Having had a Tytn, Tytn 2, Touch Pro and now TP2 from voda let me just say that their ROM upgrades are terrible. Not a single upgrade for the TP. They will upgrade to a newer ROM if you send the phone in for repair though!!
For the Tytn 2 and Tytn I think they did release a single ROM upgrade (from memory).
Also, I am on a consumer tarrif. Getting the Tytn, Tytn 2 and Touch Pro was never a problem (despite being "business" phones).
It was a nightmare getting the TP2 on a consumer tarrif. They lied to me (told me my SIM wouldnt work), etc, etc. Finally by complaining enough they shipped one to me and I'm happy again. But most people on consumer tarrifs are failing to get them! Have a read in the voda forum http://forum.vodafone.co.uk/index.php?showforum=27

Thanks to you both. I've taken the plunge & ordered one today through Vodafone business, should get it Saturday. Here's hoping I won't need a ROM update any time soon!

For those having issues about getting one on a consumer contract - well at least you managed to get VF to budge eventually!
I just cancelled my Orange contract because they refused to provide a TP2 on my consumer contract. I have been with them for 9 years and spend an average of £75 a month (never less than £40, some months as high as £150)
The woman said "you have an awful lot of loyalty.. are you sure you wouldn't like another phone?" but could not provide me a business phone on a consumer contract, nor could she switch me to a business contract because I'm an employee.
Totally daft. Their loss though!
As soon as I get my PAC code I'll be getting a Vodafone business contract - it seems they will give me a phone even though I'm an employee; and worst case I'll have to get my company to open a contract for me (they pay the bills anyway.) But from reading the VF site it seems I should have no issues getting a business contract in my name even though I'm an employee.
just call business "straight"(08080600802) and ask for Adam or Mike just say it was Evilasio that told you to call them but dont say anything about not having a business, because they record conversations, so if you say that they are obliged to say no, otherwise there will be no probs because they make commission on every business account they open.
I have a TP2 on the Vodafone network. What is the best 6.5 ROM that I can replace this bloody Vodafone build with?

Nokia Lumina???

So two my surprise/disappointment I walk into my local corporate AT&T store looking for Nokia "Lumia" 900 accessories and they only have Nokia "Lumina" accessories. Aw shucks I guess people still don't get it huh. I really wonder if during these trainings were all the PowerPoint's misspelled, if not, Nokia/Microsoft should protect their investment by sending in secret shoppers now! Not next week but now. I've purchased four windows phones and by far the best experience has been when I buy them online. Anyone bumped into the Lumina?
So did they actually have any cases in stock, for sale?

Lol, no. He sounded quiet disappointed when he told me that Monday they would take down most of the iPhone advertisements and replace with Nokia, then and only then would they sell them.
actually AT&T reps aren't doing such a good job in promoting it. I went once to ask the guy about the Lumia 900, and he didn't even know what it was or when it was going to be released. And I'm standing there telling him everything I know about this phone. And then he goes to me "thing is, nobody really wants to buy a nokia, you're probably the first" I was like Anyways finally when the reps got the Lumias, a lot of them didn't even want to use the phones, but then once they gave it a chance, almost all of them said they loved it.
Sort of the same experience Ive noticed, they really dont care to much for it. But I feel if your a salesman you sell everything you offer not what you feel somebody should have. You should be a lover of all OS' and should care to learn them to teach your customers. I actually toldf the salesman about the re-installer app to move everything over to their new devices. But most of the salesman really didnt bother with the Lumia.
I had an opposite experience, I went to my AT&T store and I asked to preorder a phone and right away the lady asked if it was the lumia, she then proceded to let me play with her personal lumia 900.
