SMS Message Chat Style (Grouping) - MDA III, XDA III, PDA2k, 9090 General

The Treo 650 handles text messages brilliantly by grouping them into AIM like messages. I would love to find an application that will do that on the Pocket PC. Anyone able to point me in the right direction?

I've been meaning to ask about this since getting my MDA Compact a while back - I used to have a Treo600 and the SMS messages were "threaded" much like your email might be in your email client. It was great and made it easy to store lots of messages - I know I could use folders but it's not the same.

IM program please help!!

I am looking for a program on pocketpc or WM 5.0 that allows u to send text messages AND im's similar to the way AIM and yahoo windows versions allows you to send text messages to a number in the US. I am in india and trying to find ways on keeping in touch with friends and family in the US.
I can send international text messages but that would be too costly after a while.
and Agile and Aim for pocketpc dont allow you to send text messages to phone numbers.
Any help is appreciated.

Email Notification of subfolders on HTC S620

Hi all,
I have just bought an HTC S620 and have been able to setup Activesync to an exchange server with no issues. I use alot of subfolders under my inbox to filter emails. I am receiving new emails no problem in my inbox and in the subfolders synched happily to my device.
I am only getting new email notifications on my home screen when emails arrive to my inbox. I would like to be able to see email notifications when they arrive in my subfolders.
I have a HTC S620
Running Windows Mobile Standard CE 05.2.1620 (Build 18125.0.4.2)
Do I need to tweak a setting or acquire an app?
I had this problem too but how I got round was to delete all of the server filters and use the newer technique of smart folders. Im using OS X and Mail.app, but I think the new Outlook on windows should have smart folders too. With smart folders all of your mail is in the inbox but when you click on a smart folder its like a saved search so for example it can show all of the email from a certain sender.
This also makes it much easier to read email on the phone, because all of the email goes into the inbox you both have the advantage of seeing the new email notification, and you don't need to jump between folders to read it all, which can take many key presses.
You can of course still have regular mail folders for email that can't be automatically sorted.
By the way, general questions like this go in the general smartphone forum
Ah i thought i was beign device specific enough.
Exchange 2003 I am using is for work and they dont use/implement smart folders/
Anyone else have any ideas? i have the same problem, and my comany's mail server also doesnt support "smart folders".
TIA

Setting groups

Hi
Im on winmo 6.1 and i was wondering if we can set contact groups.
Example when i send mass text i have to constantly build the list, and i know on the iphone it keeps the list so you can easily next time just type the text message instead of rebuilding the contact group
any ideas??
If i had to guess. Make a new contact just for SMS and MMS sending.
Add the phone numbers or contacts in that contact seperating the numbers with a ; and a space.
This is something that used to be in Windows Mobile 2003, but was removed around WM5. Categories, filters, etc. seem to be there, but they don't work for much, if anything. I have yet to find a way to edit categories, make new ones, or assign them to contacts on the phone under WM6.1.
A few posts were made in other forums on here about pocketPC apps that do the job. I don't know of one for a smartphone. It's all a jumble in my memory, but one of those apps that lets you assign different ringtones to individual contacts and groups of contacts has the feature for SMS as well, I think. Try a search and see what happens.
I have searched far and wide as well
what Mikey says is pretty much gospel. So far, there is no other way to do this other than create a HUGE contact with all of the numbers you want added to it. Then, you just sms that contact you created. No other ways are possible, YET. Mikey RULES!

Yes, Mikey has a decent kludge to get around WM's limitations. The weird question is why the limitation was added in WM5? For all the plusses, it sucks that a phone of this calibre can't do something a $15 Nokia can.
i tried making a contact with "number; number" format and it didn't work. I get this error
Cannot send to e-mail recipients from the Text Message account.
any ideas how this can be possible?
are you placing email address' or phone numbers in the "SMS contacts?
phone numbers
all im doing is making a new contact
and in the phone number field just typying in phone numbers ie. 1234567899; 1234567899; 1234567899
when i select it to send a message to it shows NameofContact<12345667899; 1234567899; 1234567899>
then i get an error when i try to send

WWE update

I used to be able to get my email from Outlook, then click on Inbox, and flip over to text messages. Now text messages are no longer there.
Any idea how to get them back in Outlook?
Thanks
As far as I remember someone saying that text msgs and outlook have been seperated in the new Roms. I could be wrong, but I think it has been done by design this time.

New mail notification for IMAP folders

I know this has been asked several times, but I never seen a conclusive answer (and maybe that is the answer in and of itself):
When you use IMAP with Outlook Mobile (this is a standard internet IMAP account, not exchange), your unread message count and your new email notification is only for your Inbox main folder. Subfolders do not get counted, and what is more frustrating is that there is new notification. I used to have a Nokia E71 and used Seven email client on that and it also did not normally show the total unread in all folders, but it did notify me when an email came in in a subfolder, and so I'd check my box and if there was nothing, then I would check my subfolders for new mail.
I have also heard people say this is an Outlook overall problem, including desktop versions. I'd have to disagree. Sure, the unread count at the top level of the account is only going to show the unread in the Inbox, but I have been able to tell Outlook to alert me whenever a new message comes in regardless of its folder. But I haven't found a way to do that in Outlook Mobile.
Is there a registry edit that can help me? If not, has anyone found that System Seven works on WM 6.5 so as to alert you whenever a new mail is downloaded, regardless of folder? When I tried it, it didn't seem like it.
Any clues appreciated.
Same question here on wm 6.5. for 6.1 there is a plugin available "Message notify " from blackmon labs which does the task. Anyone got a solution on 6.5 ?
