My Qtek 9090 started turning itself on and off for no reason. All this happens every 40-50 seconds or so. I have done 2 hard resets (no third party programs are in phone) but it continues to have the same problem.
I have also noticed that battery power icon permanently displays a fully discharged battery even though I have left it on charge for up to 4 hours. All this happened from one day to another. Prior to that I never had this problem.
I've Had the Qtek 9090 for over 6 months with the same battery.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks
Are u using the supplied charger ?
Hi pabellon, (i wonder if it is Criollo)
Its been addressed that custom made chargers (specially car charges) present this problem. there is a post in the BA forum somewhere that speaks about it. The problem seems to be amperage needed for the beast to charge.
However if u are facing this problem with the craddle then a wornout or damaged battery maybe the problem...

This happened to me several times in the last two weeks. I use a Brodit car holder with Sapphire GPS and charger attached. The MDA works fine, when I put it into the holder, sometimes it survives, sometimes the screes freezes or goes blanc and the only remedy is to take out the battery, that causes the system reset to factory state.
Any similar experiences?
Is it a short circuit or a bent pin in the connector? (are there pins, that if we short circuit them cause factory reset?) or is it a software issue?
Any help would be nice!
I had a similar problem except it felt as though my whole car was being run from the MDA3 battery, my phone said charging but the battery would drain so quickly (two hours from full charge to dead - even with the screen off), would freeze and a few times did a hard reset, I took the cradle apart couldn't see anything wrong, so bought a new one and it has been fine since.
I do have a different cradle to yours though.
Sorry can't be anymore help.
Yes happend to me too, was a bad time bcs i was just navigating with tomtom in an unknow area.
But the reason was as far i could reproduce a spark in the powercable, so the device resetted itself and complete reinstalled itself to factory default.
The starnge thing is, that the same doesn't happen to my old i-Mate. I changed back the HW holder and as the connector of the Blue Angel and the Hymalaya declared to be the same, I use it now with the old maschine without problems.
It moves the suspition from the cable/charger to the connector.
Time will tell.
Since My last post I use the i_Mate with WM 5 on it with the same cable, but of course different holder without any problem.
My friend gave me his used T-Mobile Vairo 2 for trying.
I took approxiamately 4 hours for charging after the battery is totally empty. When i charged, the ppc is extremely hot,I have used O2 mini and Dopod M700,they were not hot as Vairo 2,this is hot like a laptop run 24/24
When finish,i istalled software from Memory card, play a round during 2hour30 minutes, no wireless or bluetooth.I checked battery at this moment,it was 50% and hot as i mentioned before.
I also enable function "Standby device if not use for 5/10/15 minutes".At 50% of battery, i turned it off in order to go to bed.4 hours later,i open device,it was totally empty (the screen cant boot),then i charged it again,it reseted and warned me that battery is 0%
SO,it is normal or battery problem

WTF does this have to do with WM6?
Please post in the correct section.

welcome to xda-developers... first i suggest when posting you list your Operating System, Versions, what ROM you are using, what Operator, what programs your running to achieve these figures etc... to give us a little more information to help diagnose the problems...

1. This is not forum for battery problems, this is forum for WM6 problems.
2. I had similar problem when I used some 3rd party USB charger. When I switched back to stock one I had no problems. Later I tried to use USB cable to connect to computer and also noticed no problems.

I had the same problem with my Cingular 8525 before. Battery is hella hot and even burned my hand once. The battery drains so fast like 320Miles/Seconds..... got a replacement and everything went fine.
Please help!
At my wits end with this handset! Just got a complete replacement Ignito as the last one didn't charge beyond 65%; the replacement is stuck at 60%!!!!!
Been advised by o2 to have the battery checked in an o2 store. However, I've been told by a mate it may well be a ROM problem?
Has anybody had this problem with their Ignito / Diamond? How did you solve it?
Thanks in advance,
Chris.
Mine is working fine, so I don't know what could be the problem with yours.
hummmm
you are charging from the wall and not pc i take it?
that's very strange, i've not heard of this problem being caused from the ROM, i take it you are on the standard O2 rom? If so i'd say take it back to O2, and let them test it, but if you are on a custom rom then i recommend you try changing ROM
I'm still on the 1.93 stock ROM and have no issues with charging from the mains. Using an old IPAQ charger with an extended USB cable too.

I've had issues with the handset reporting its full and then upon checking the power settings its only at 60%. Simple answer for me was turn the device off, leave to charge overnight from the mains and it was fine in the morning. Happened twice now but on a different rom each time. Think its best to charge with the device off anyway so nothing else is drawing power (such as the phone connecting to the network etc) that way you know its got the best charge possible. Could of course be complete rubbish but I've never had any issues and the battery lasts longer I find.

Ditto for me also, when switched on seems to take ages bout 70% but turned off no bother!
Hi all,
My two year old HTC P3300 has gone dead and I suspect it could be the battery. How could I know for sure? When it was new I upgraded to WM6 and apllied the corrupt SD patch because it was crashing sometimes when I would access the SD.
After that it has been working flawlessly for over a year except for battery life which has been getting shorter and shorter for the past few months. I turned off bluetooth and wifi and still the P3300 was only able to go for about 24H with normal usage (just four or five calls, a few reminders and no GPS).
All of a sudden a couple of weeks ago it started just turning off by itself when using simple things like card games. I could feel the battery was pretty warm and pressing the power button would do nothing. Only a soft reset would work.
Then a few days ago it finally decided to die. I was playing Freecell with the battery at about 80% and it turned off by itself but now even soft reset won't work. When I plug in the charger the orange light wont turn on althoug the battery does get a little warm.
The only thing it will let me do is start a hard reset but nothing much happens. It says to press send if I want to return the P3300 to the original factory settings. I accept and for about one seccond it shows:
Format FAT partition!
Format complete!
Then I get the HTC boot screen and some red letters that say:
IPL 1.36.0001
SPL 1.36.0000
and then nothing else happens. It just stays like that for a couple of minutes until it turns off by itself. After that I can't even do a hard reset unless I put the phone on the charger for a couple of hours.
To me this looks like it could be an exhausted battery but how can I confirm this without buying a new battery? I checked with a tester and I get 3.07V DC but I can't seem to get any amp reading (maybe I'm doing it wrong).
Please any ideas would be welcome. I love my P3300 and I hate the idea of having to change.

Hi!
I'm experiencing the same problems...
Tried new rom, sdhc update cab, format sd to fat32, try another sd, etc...
Seems that the phone works more or less well if there's no sd card (maybe because it need more juice from the battery?), and even better, if I can say that for a phone..., without sim card too.
It worked more or less today only with sim card on it, but when there was an sd card it keeps blocking, hanging and turning off with difficult turn on situation.
Can someone help us?
Thanks!
Hello both.
It can be frustrating waiting for help (and you might have found an alternative solution) but I'll say what I can.
If your Artemis can be operated more normally whilst charging but fails quickly under battery power, that certainly suggests a battery problem.
Batteries are consumables but hard to test (although some shops can) - try your local retailer?
My spare battery is a Sanyo ARTE160 rated 3.7V 1,200mAh.
On the reverse, 4.2VDC is printed amongst chinese characters and it actually measures 4.16V off load. I'd think 3V far too low.
There's clever technology behind the management of these LiOn batteries because both over charge and over discharge can damage them. Their life is more determined by battery chemistry and charge/discharge cycles than age.
One caution - measure voltage by all means...
BUT
DO NOT measure current with a test meter to a battery - particularly not a LiOn battery - because it amounts to a short circuit. Current can be so high as to blow the meter fuse and in cases of sustained short circuit or over charging, the battery can swell or even burst dangerously.
I'd think a replacement battery (via e-bay?) far less expensive than paying repairers to confirm the battery was the only problem.
Hope this helps
Hi!
I bought a replacement battery from Ebay.
All seems to be OK yesterday at night until today by noon.
Today, in the middle of a phone call, the phone stalls.
After a reboot and some hours later, the phone keeps crashing and crashing and, sometimes, it doesn´t turn on...
Will try now to upload an original rom and see what it does.
Regards!
This might have happened because difficulties whilst using an impaired battery left a legacy of part-saved data, registry and file corruption problems.
The outcome would be good to know because battery problems can/will affect us all eventually.
Also, a brand new battery can need a few charge/discharge cycles to bring it up to best condition.
I also got a new batery from ebay and unfortunately it still doesn't work. Behaviour is exactly the same as before.
I suppose this means it is hardware related. Do you suggest opening it up to see if there is anything loose or broken that could be resoldered?
Thanks,
My p3300 went blank and I had the take the battery out to switch it on again. Took it to HTC and they had to replace the insides of the phone. When I got is back the batt. Only lasted for a day and it use to work for 4 days.
Hi everyone! Sorry for my poor english but I need help. I know that maybe there is solution inside the forum but I can't find it (blind!). So...few weeks ago I noticed that tablet's energy suddenly went down from about 30% -> 0% (and it happened after each charching) . Before this situation I was able to work on 1% (with dimming of course) for quite long time... So a week ago after connecting charger I saw on the screen a charching logo but there was now effect (You know - the green battery). I connected tablet to AC charger and to USB port on my PC there was no effect. When I tried to switch on - tablet starts and after booting showed 0% of charge and ****ched of. So... I took back cover and disconnected battery for few houres...and without USB charging tablet starts and showed 6% of battery then went o 5% (dimming) and it happends again and again. So my question is: Anybody knows if changing the old battery for a new one (replacement) about 30$ will solve this situation? Thank you in advance for your replies
Battery and charging port will fix this. Only mention charching port because its cheap and easy to replace while swapping batteries
Ok! So now I have to look also for a charging port . I'll do it. Thank you for advice!
I had the same issue. I sent the tablet to a service center. They said the charging port was gone, and the battery is weak too (after 3 years of heavy use). Both replaced for $69 (including tax). The battery is OEM, much better than cheap Chinese ones on eBay.
