I'm not sure if I should start a new topic about this but it seems a lot of people have problems connecting Activesync 4.0 (build 4343) and the device. I'm one of them.
I have 2 pc's and I'm trying to connect a WM5 device to both.
The 1st pc (Windows XP sp2) works instantly, connects immediately, lets me create a partnership and I can synchronize.
The 2nd pc (Windows XP sp2) tries to connect but fails. The activesync wheel keeps spinning but no connection is created.
Since I'm not the only one with this problem it would be appreciated if the real tech die hards could shine a light on this.
Thanks.

Hi people,
My HTC S620 suddenly stopped synchronising with my Windows Vista notebook using the Windows Mobile Device Center 6.1.
I also have a HTC X7500 which I also sync with the same PC (along with some other Windows Mobile devices now and then) without any problems.
But.... today the S620 suddenly stopped syncing. When I connect the device to the notebook there is this Vista connection sound (so the device is recognized) and the WMDC also recognizes the phone as a connected Smartphone including my device name. It notices the date and time of the last successful sync, which is correct.
The thing is that it doesn't do anything else from that point. It should start syncing by itself, but it doesn't.
The WMDC mentions 1 error: the syncing can not be completed. Cause: error. Please see http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=72544. - saying nothing at all.
Removing the partnerships on both the PC and S620, rebooting computer and S620, it doesn't matter, the sync just won't start anymore.
When I connect my X7500 again, there's no problem at all...... the syncing starts like it should, but just not with the S620 anymore.
So where is the catch and how to solve it?
Thank you for the help!!
Update
Hmmm strange, but here's an update:
When I turn off the Windows Firewall, the S620 suddenly starts syncing.
How can this suddenly be a Firewall issue?
Everything regarding "Windows Mobile" is checked in the list of allowed ports/programs and the S620 (and X7500) WERE syncing before, with the firewall being activated.
Any suggestions?
You'll have to delete the current partnership and establish a new one to get WMDC 6.1 to sync with a device that was sync'd with the older (original) version of WMDC.

Click to collapse
Unfortunately that isn't the case. The S620 DID sync until yesterday. Before that everything was perfectly fine, with the same WMDC 6.1.
Go in Settings->Connections->More...->USB to PC
and untick use advanced networking.
I had the exact same problem, when I installed 6.1 I can't get any devices to sync when advanced is ticked. And even going back to 6.0 doesn't fix it!
That last hint worked for me...thanks.
Guys,
This WiFi problem affects 3 guys in my office, each with different PC's (IBM vs HP) and WM devices (Hermes vs TyTn) and network routers (LinkSys vs others).
It's taken MONTHS to figure out what's going on, but here it is:
- On a non-secured WiFi network, PPC devices can connect to WiFi, their companion PC's connect to WiFi, and activesync works fine between the PPC and PC in every way one could want.
- HOWEVER, on WPA WiFi networks, any PC that has had a PPC device connected to it at any time since the last PC reboot does the following: Network is found and is immediately (5-30 seconds) closed down such that no PC in the office can connect for a few mins, then cycle repeats. ie WPA network is crippled for use by any and all PC's, let alone PPC's. Note that it's the PC's crippling the network, PPC's are all turned off at this stage of the game.
- Provided PPC and PC are not USB activesync'd since last PC reboot, all devices access WPA WiFi network perfectly; the PC's and the PPC's
- A side symptom: PC's list of networks ("View Wireless Networks") will show that you are not connected when you are, and connected when you are not. ie connection status gets inverted.
Clean rebooted PC' all work fine, until someone does a USB activesync and then their PC is screwed and HAS to be rebooted. If they don't reboot, they can go home and their home WPA network will immedaitely collapse as they turn on their PC. Once a PPC has been USB'd to the PC, that PC is screwed no matter where the PPC is, and no matter whether the PPC has wifi turned on or not. We see this when guys come from home (non-secured network) and turn on PC at work, the work WiFi collapses, even tho no PPC is trying to access the network at all.
Once again, different PC's, different PPC's, different WM5/6 PPC ROM's (TyTn WM6 Black, JasJar WM5 AKU 3.5). ALL FAIL ALL THE TIME on a WPA network. We even changed the office router - no better. Besides, we all have different ADSL routers at home.
There are many other Hermes posts where I can see the user is having EXACTLY the same issue, but haven't yet gotten the insight I have from playing with so many devices on so many networks. ie I am not alone...

I've been working on this for months and only now fully understand the issue such that I can avoid it (unsecured networks at home, rebooted PC's after Activesync). Any help would be MUCH appreciated.
My Cingular 8525 suddenly doesn't sync with my vista. Whats worse is when I plug in the data cable my PC can't recognize the device and my mouse gets disabled. Is tghis a problem with the phone or maybe with the PC?
My personal laptop runs vista and I had ZERO issues getting my phone connected to activesync via bluetooh.
Work finally came through with a laptop for me though so now I'd like to use it instead of my personal laptop to sync my data. The work laptop is:
Dell Latitude D630 running Windows XP w/SP2
I'm trying to get the phone added to the computer but it keeps adding it as a dial-up connection. Don't I need OBEX File Transfer (or something like that)? This isn't even an option when I initiate the connection to the computer.
As a side note... folks complain all the time about vista, but I must say, the setup for this bluetooth connection to the phone was entirely painless on the vista laptop and is proving quite difficult on this XP laptop.
At any rate, any help would be much appreciated!
Thanks!
nevermind...
found this and it helped me get things all fixed:

Something very strange...
I just got my HTC HD2 ported to WP7. Strange thing was, my desktop is having a hell of a time keeping up with the phone. I can never get a USB connection on it. I ended up having to do all the porting on my Macbook Pro running Windows 7 in Bootcamp. So the issue is that when I connect it to my desktop which natively runs Windows 7, the phone charges, but Zune and the Mobile Device Center both report that the phone is not connected. And to make things even more aggravating, every time I connect the phone, my wifi connection on the desktop drops off. As soon as I disconnect the phone, it comes back with some prompting. What am I doing wrong??
