Has anybody got the solution to restoring your backup after upgrading the ROM. I just upgraded the ROM to the i-mate (much more stable), but cant restore the backup I made before the upgrade because the device is now an i-mate device, not an 02 device.
Im sure its simple, im jusy not techie.
Thanks,

the way i did it was ...
Used a tool to open the backup file, then copy all files to the phone.
Ive attached the program below

Hi all new? here got an o2 orbit need advice?
Im just wondering what i could and should do to improve it, its currently runnin on wm5 i have the official file to update to wm6 but dont want to lock out my orange sim card ?

Yes you can. Make sure you unlock the CID first: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=308242
Cheers m8 so which rom is recommended at the moment and i wont mess up my phone will i as im unlocked o2 at the moment. Also can i backup my rom im using now simply?? thx again
I have the same phone on o2, (I didn't know Orange done this phone ?) anyway, I would reccomend this ROM, its what im using.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=342298
It is based on Windows mobile 6, and has all extra toys to play with.
Read the post, see if you like it (its best one IMO)
Download it, do step one first (This is CID unlocking), then step two (flash the device).
I think you can backup your device now but it depends on what you want to backup.
If you mean backup your contacts, SMS messages, photos ect then sure you can. Copy them with activesync or search google, there are many programs out there.
If you mean backup your device entirely (As in ROM) im pretty sure you can but its not needed. You will find on this site both the offical ROM that your phone came with WM5 so you can go back to that, or the offical ROm for WM6 so you can go back to that.
All custome ROMS are SIM unlocked so you will be able to use your orange sim card.
Hope this helped.

How to Flash Dell Axim x51v and install WM 6.1

Hey Everybody,
Heres a big hello to everyone, this is my first post here. My brother gifted me a Dell Axim x51v with Windows Mobile 6 Classic installed on it. He flashed it himself earlier on. Now, I'm wanting to install Windows Mobile 6.1 on it, but am pretty much lost on how to do so. I've never flashed my Dell before, so have no clue about it. If anyone could refer me a guide to do so, or help me out with it, it'd be much help!
Which is the best ROM to install? I've read up and seems like Lenny's is the best to Install. Is it stable on x51v?
Any help will be much appreciated,
Thanks in advance,
Regards,
Sibot
You might want to have a look at this
Lennysh, didnt try them yet but Makuu has a sweet one out now with Voip embedded. Looks pretty sweet.
Hey, Thanks for replying. I'm looking into the football version. I don't really require VOIP support apart from Skype.
The football version has A03 and A07. Any idea which is the more stable version?
Also, I have 2 memory cards. CF and SD card.
On my CF card I store some programs. I plan to flash the ROM using SD card. Do I make sure that the CF card is not in the Dell Axim while flashing? Also do I delete the "Program Files" folder in my CF card on the new install?
Is there any way I can take a back-up of my current Dell Axim ROM? Incase if I mess it up, I can load it back on? I remember there was FUBAR when I used to flash my Siemens Cellphone, like a backup.
Regards,
Sibot
Do you mean all the files included in the rom image or all the files (ones that came with rom AND personal files)? If just the files in the rom image, you just need the nb0 file for a backup. If it's everything, use a backup program like Data Backup (not sure if came bundled with rom, ususally has) or SPB Backup.
Hi!
How i flash my Axim with CF card?
Thanks ;-)
So I got it brand new, I am trying to get basic windows executables running. I was wondering if anybody could recommend me with any good ROM images. I have the original ROM, but the PDA dosent see it for some reason.

Question on newbie with rom update

okay, guys, I have a few question that I am hoping it can be answered before I advernture ito flashing my rom.
First of all, I relaly appreaciate all of the people who work so hard getting the rom updated. You guys rocks.
Now, this is the first time I am going to flash to my tilt 2. As I have read the flashing the GSM phone guide (which I am hoping that's the guide I should be following to flash). I am just a bit confused as to how to do it.
It appears to me that I must flash the SPL unlocker in order to flash to the any rom am I correct? Just curious what exactly does it do? If I flash it, would tehre be any issue if I decided to go back to the original rom. I saw that at HTC's site, they have stock rom for ATT phone (http://www.htc.com/us/support/tilt-2-att/downloads/)so if I want to go back, can I just use that file and flash it back? Or I need to flash to a diff HardSPL? before I can use it?
Also, i am curious as to are there any program that will let me keep all of the settings and stuff up to date. in my past where I have the hp's ipaq. I had a tool where after I flash teh rom or do a hardreset, I can run that tool to revert all of the program and configurations (of course, I had a backup file first).
Let me just double check:
basically
1-hardspl
2-rom
3-all set
again, my phone is ATT tilt 2, I would really appreciate any information.
The SPL is kind of similar to the BIOS in your computer; it performs very low-level functions, and functions as a bootloader, among other things. The SPL is responsible for flashing new ROMs to the device, and the SPL that comes on your device won't let you flash ROMs not signed by HTC. HardSPL is a patched SPL that removes this ROM signature check, allowing any ROM, official or custom, to be flashed. The way HardSPL is designed also makes it more difficult (though not impossible!) to brick your device.
If you ever want to restore your original SPL (for warranty purposes, etc.) there are a few threads which explain how to do this, and the HardSPL thread has all the SPLs available for download. If you flash the package from AT&T, your ROM will be the original ROM, but the SPL will still be HardSPL, which isn't okay if you're returning the device for warranty purposes since they check for that. As I said, there are a few threads which have full tutorials for restoring your AT&T Tilt2 to stock.
For backup, there are tons of solutions out there such as the User Customization types (XDA User Customization and Sashami), as well as the full backup and restore suites (Sprite backup, SPB backup). I've automated everything on my device with XDA User Customization, so I don't know much about the full backup and restore suites, though a backup and restore suite might be more what you're looking for based on your description.
Lastly, you have the order of flashing correct. Optionally, you can flash a radio ROM later on, but if this is your first time flashing, you might want to wait awhile until you're more comfortable with flashing.
