I work for a company that is based out of the US and which has the Blackberry Enterprise Server installed.
I am based out of India where Airtel provides Blackberry service to customers in India. Airtel also provides GPRS service. I have called Airtel and they have indicated that they do not have the option of providing me with a cab file to install on my O2 XDA IIs.
My questions:
- Where can I find a Blackberry CAB file to install on my O2 XDA IIs?
- Given that Airtel does not explicitly support Blackberry on an O2 XDA IIs, would it work if I was able to find this cab file and install it on my O2, with only GPRS access from Airtel or does Airtel need to do something that "fakes" them into believing that my O2 is a "Blackberry device"?
- Does my O2 need to be registered with Airtel or does it only need to be registered with my company in the US and GPRS access locally is all I need? If it needs to be registered, what number do I need to give to them?
- I travel extensively throughout Southeast Asia; in any country I go, for the Blackberry to work on my O2, does the local service provider need to have access to Blackberry services or just GPRS is all they need?
Thanks in advance!

Hi all,
I've checked out the forums but can't find a direct answer to this, and I'm sorry if it has been discussed before.
I bought an XDAII whilst I was in Malaysia, and now having returned to the UK I find that GPRS and various other phone components won't work correctly (I have checked the settings and just can't enter all of the correct settings provided by my service provider Vodafone).
My questions are:
1. Does anyone know how to correctly set the GPRS settings for a UK network on an XDA from the far east?
2. Would applying a UK XDA software upgrade solve the issue or are there differences in the hardware in different parts of the world.
3. Can the UK upgrade be succesfully applied to an Asian XDA, or will it (as I fear) render the phone useless?
Many thanks for the help.
Rory
Yes you can do that , I already have XDAII from Malaysia and i upgrade it to O2 UK ROM the new ver.

Thanks 'pqft'.
Do you have any problems connecting to GPRS for email and MMS? I am with Vodafone, and can connect for internet exploring, but cannot send or receive emails, no MMS messages. Any ideas?
Thanks
Rory
did you put in all the settings for pop3
and for mms ?
I have a malaysian vers too,and MMS and Email work perfectly with my Italian provider...but i'm unable to upgrade my phone with the O2uk new rom, i get a COUNTRY ERROR CODE.
Any hint?
I have recently bought an XDA II privately and unlocked it so I can use my Orange SIM. The problem is I cannot use the GPRS facility despite trying various settings. I have contacted Orange "Customer Service" who said I must sort it out with O2 as it it not an Orange phone. I fear I am being fobbed off. I suspect the "O2 Active Interface" is restricting this operation. Do I really need an O2 account?
Can anyone help, please?
Tony. :?:
Re: Orange settings
There is a post in The Alpine section. http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=26725 This has a file which sets up the orange stuff. I guess it is for the contract GPRS etc. You can get the PayT from the I-Mate FTP site.
I just bought a Dopod P800W over sea. When I returned the States, I tried my Cingular SIM card but the system told me that it is unable to connet to the network (with a number 31041 (error code ???)). I have tried to choose the provider manually through the network wizard. However, only several providers from some asian contries are avaible in the list. Is there anyone know how to add additional providers to the network wizard to make the phone work in the States? or should I update the ROM... Any comments and suggestions are highly apprecaited. Thank you.
well,
i am usind the dopod rom on my german hero. the network wizard does not list my provider, nevertheless it locks into my provider and displays all services as usual.
this could be due to me having unblocked my device so that all sim / providers can be used. i cannot imagine the network wizard to be solely responsible for you not being able to use your provider!!! once you r thinking about unblocking and paying for it, you might want to consider cid-unlocking it via imei-check.co.uk.
I am having the EXACT same problem. I am an AT&T/Cingular blue customer and cant get my phone to work. I purchased the phone in Thailand. Every other phone I've purchased there are unlocked out of the box so I dont know why this one would be any different. Is it possible that this phone is locked to a small group of asian networks?
If anyone knows how to fix this, it would be appreciated.
Network Wizard:"Your current operator (23433) is not supported. You should obtain an update from your device vendor.
Would you like to select another network provider?
When i turned on my dopod this message appeared. I am with Fido, and in Canada, Ontario, Toronto. Is there a way i can manually input settings so that my network wizard can adjust in order to work with fido/rogers? The only list of countries that i see in the network wizard is asian and other operators, no US or Canada.
Does noone have a solution to add Canada into the network wizard? it would be reallly helpful because other countries are added to this .cab file i found but canada is not included.
