Need Help Finding Blackberry cab for O2 XDA IIs

I work for a company that is based out of the US and which has the Blackberry Enterprise Server installed.
I am based out of India where Airtel provides Blackberry service to customers in India. Airtel also provides GPRS service. I have called Airtel and they have indicated that they do not have the option of providing me with a cab file to install on my O2 XDA IIs.
My questions:
- Where can I find a Blackberry CAB file to install on my O2 XDA IIs?
- Given that Airtel does not explicitly support Blackberry on an O2 XDA IIs, would it work if I was able to find this cab file and install it on my O2, with only GPRS access from Airtel or does Airtel need to do something that "fakes" them into believing that my O2 is a "Blackberry device"?
- Does my O2 need to be registered with Airtel or does it only need to be registered with my company in the US and GPRS access locally is all I need? If it needs to be registered, what number do I need to give to them?
- I travel extensively throughout Southeast Asia; in any country I go, for the Blackberry to work on my O2, does the local service provider need to have access to Blackberry services or just GPRS is all they need?
Thanks in advance!

Hi I have an o2 xda orbit .I have put a t mobile sim in and it phones and voice mails fine, but i cant access the net with it ,any thoughts please!!
you need GPRS and the correct settings. Prvide more info.
hi its connecting to gprs ,the answering modem is disconecting-thks
Do you know, it cost you nothing to type more in your post? However, it does cost you 'the answer' you are looking for if you type less.
Ok a few questions.
What country are you in now?
Does your phone cames from t-mobile?
Is the phone using t-mobile (your country) ROM?
Did you skip the Ext ROM installation?
Have you manage to connect to Internet before?
Does your telco package include Internet?
What do you mean by 'answering modem is disconnecting'?
p/s: If you find me not trying to help you further, either I don't have 'the answer', or I just fed up asking Have a nice day.
hi yea sorry to miff you with the lack of info I will try to address that this time
country UK
Phone is made by O2 (mda Orbit )I am using a t mobile sim that can access the web in my motorola 3i razor ( definate yes to the do I have internet package)
I did install all the disks that came with it (O2)
This phone in new out the box and has as yet to be connected to the web
When i try to access the web I get the message
when i try to get on to explorer i get the message "connecting to gprs",theni get the error message "the answering modem has disconected."-thks
I'm not sure, probably the O2 phone is trying to connect to the O2 GPRS instead of T-mobile, hence the problem. Anyway, read this
http://www.4winmobile.com/q-what-are-the-uk-amp-roi-gprs-settings-for-web-wap-mms-vt1834.html
on the sectin "Setting up Mobile Web connections", it has the settings, and rather detail instructions on how to set up t-mobile UK. Hope that tmobile still uses the same settings. If not, try the WAP section.

Softbank: Access Internet *99# not working with WM6?

I am using a O2 Trion in Japan with a Softbank SIMCard. Just flashed a WM6 ROM and found that the Access Internet connection via *99# does not work anymore. Anybody has experienced this?
Thanx.

yeah, it's much better now; go to internet sharing and select USB then activate; it automatically connects, and what's more, your computer recognised the Hermes like it's a LAN card so you just go straight ahead and browse.

Sorry, I think I was not clear enough with my problem. The GPRS connection does not work anymore. It does not connect, respectively the connection is terminated after a second with the message "the remote party has ended this connection". That never happened with WM5.

I am trying since half a day. Re-flashed twice. Even called Softbank. No way. It's strange: All other functions work like charm. I am using XDA Live v0.20
Could you please describe exactly how you are trying to access the internet. In WM6 yo do NOT use *99#. I am not sure, but from what you are saying I get the feeling that you are still uing this method.

Yes, indeed, maybe this is my mistake. I have a Softbank simcard, but I am neither using their X0HT nor their Japanese ROM. Until now I used "Site Direct".
As this seems not availbale anymore from 1 April for non-Softbank ROM user, I thought I can use the "Access Internet" service via *99# instead. Is there any other way?
You dont need to dial up. You simply get the operators APN (access point) and any required username and password and create a new Cellular Line (GPRS, 3G) connection.

"*99#" is NOT the dial up service. It's the GPRS connection to access their "Access Internet" service:
Access point: *99#
Username: [email protected]
Password: softbank
That is the way I have been using WM5 since more than half a year. And this does not work with WM6. It works, but the connection is interrupted after a second.
They of course also offer a dial up service, but that's a different set up.
Aparently SOFTBANK are very choosy about their accesspoint. Their gateway checks the user agent. Do a search on here for softbank GPRS access.

Getting confused.
If you want to browse or send e-mail FROM the phone itself you do not need to enter *99# etc, only the APN address. You enter the *99# ON YOUR LAPTOP, if you are using the phone as a modem.
What exactly is the problem? Can you not browse the net on the phone itself (if you use PIE, can you surf the net)? Or can you not access the net from your laptop using the phone as a modem? I understood the latter to be the case.
If you CAN surf on the phone itself, but NOT on your latop using the phone as a modem, then the solution SHOULD be simple. In WM6 the function where the phone acts as a modem (DUN) no longer exists. So exit *99# crap. Forget it. If you try to use that, it wont work.
Instead, do the following. In programs, start INTERNET SHARING. Set the connection to USB. Then click connect. The phone should now connect to the internet. Next plug in your USB cable into the laptop. The laptop should now recognize a new network card (a Windows Mobile Internet Sharing Device) and use it to access the net. No more *99#.
It should work. I am posting this using my phone as a Windows Mobile Internet Sharing Device (yep) right now.

According to my carrier *99# is the APN, that's the problme I am trying to describe.
http://mb.softbank.jp/mb/en/service/data/communication/sb3g_v8/index.html
And it always worked this way with WM5.
Sorry man, can't help.
Weird APN name. Usually that *99# string (and all kinds of variants like *99*1#) is a "phone number" you enter when using the phone as a modem, not the name of an APN. Hence my confusion.
I did stumble across some threads on accessing Softbank --- one of them was called how to access SOftbank without cooking a ROM. Have you seen those?
Anyway, good luck.

I'm having this same problem with my TomTom 910. It can't establish and internet connection, but can connect to my handset.
Are you on Softbank too?
Have you tried deleting all connection info, doing a soft reset, recreating your connection, doing a soft reset?
I remember that my phone refused to connect to the net once, and when I checked my connection settings (APN etc) all was OK. Yet it refused to connect, no mail, no browsing, nothing. Whenever the phone tried to go online I refused some kind of error message that the connection was closed or dropped or whatever. In the end, I just went in to Start - Settings - Connections, deleted the connection, did a soft reset and then recreated the connection. I entered the exact same APN as before but his time, mysteriously, the phone could establish connection again.

Access point: softbank
Username: [email protected]

i can surf the web via PIE, download emails via pocket outlook, sync avantgo content using these settings connecting to SB's GPRS APN.
What i have not figured out is how to send outgoing mails via pocket look using the above connection. I seem to get a returned mail all the time. Driving me nuts.

The link above is for softbank mobile communications which is using your phone as a modem for a PC or other device. Not for browsing from the phone. There is a whole thread on this form for how to setup your device post 1 April when they changed the access point password.

This is a Hermes WM6 thread. Do you have a Hermes device? If so, there are CAB files you can use to automatically populate the Softbank APN information to your Hermes.

There is always a problem with live messenger integrated in the wm6, and it says "there's a connectivity problem.make sure you're in an area with good phone reception and try again." but couldn't i use it with the internet connection? it's weird. My one is set to 'Optus Internet Settings'.
Give that a try
No, it doesn't work,

Just checked with my phone, if I set my connection to WAP I can open internet pages but get the following when trying to sign in to messenger
"There was a problem signing in to Messenger. It may be the service or you may be in a place with bad reception. Please try again later"
Setting it back to the internet settings gives me access again.
Have a play around with your connection settings. What provider are you with, and in which country?
i'm in france, with the operator SFR of vodafone, but i flashed the official rom of wm6 english version which belongs to asia.

The ROM you have installed will have customized network settings for the region - asia. You will need to edit them to your providers settings.
I am having the same problem. I am using the HTC new WM6 ROM. My settings are correct as I can surf the internet (not Wap) but cannot seem to login in Windows Live or Messenger.
not all operators open for the ports required to use IM programs as it hurt their sms mms and such earnings
because grps is based pr MB where sms and the likes are priced pr sendt

Tilt 2 ATT Wifi Cab, MediaMall Cab, and Opera Proxy

I'm having some problems getting the ATT Wifi and Media Mall cabs after flashing to the latest energy rom.
I think this might be solved if someone can post their stock opera:config settings for proxy. That way I could download the cabs from att through opera.
Any ideas?
[Proxy]
Use Proxy On Local Names Check=1
HTTP Server=wireless.cingular.com
HTTPS server=wireless.cingular.com
Use HTTP=1
Use HTTPS=1
Enable HTTP 1.1 for proxy=1
Added this to my proxy settings (Opera:config in address bar or \windows\opera\opera.ini)
Was able to go to device.home in my browser and navigate to the MediaMall site and then got the cab from there (search wi-fi).
I'm running the WWE ROM on a Tilt 2;
I was able to set the proxy, and browse the medianet page. I ended up going to the regular att website since searching the mobile medianet page didnt get me anything, and have it send me a sms for the wifi download. When I follow the link on the device, the medianet page complains that I do not have a supported device and won;t let me download it.
Is there some medianet component that has to be installed, or do I need to change opera's user agent string? Or is there another link to the wifi app?
Try navigating to http://device.home and if the mobile friendly medialnet site pops up your proxy settings are good. then find the mobile medianet site and search wifi.

I am getting to the mobile medianet site, but searching either in the medianet search, or the mediamall search, i get "no results for your handset" (searching wifi wi-fi wi fi etc.) , similar to the "your device is not supported" message when I use the direct link to the install.
I'm still thinking i need to change my user agent string currently its this;
HTC_Touch_Pro2_T7373 Opera/9.50 (Windows NT 5.1; U; en)
anyone know what the stock tilt2 uses? I didn't think to check before i flashed.
It was the UA. Found the string on the ATT devcentral site;
seems huge, but when I changed the custom string in opera to this the download/mediamall access worked;
HTC-ST7377/1.14.502.12 (50433) Opera/9.50 (Windows NT 5.1; U; en) UP.Link/6.3.1.20.06.3.1.20.0
Attached the WiFi client cab. It added some pre-configured wireless networks in the wireless setup, not sure what else its doing for authentication.
ATT Wi-fi cab
I installed the ATT wi-fi cab on my Tilt 2 running the stock ROM, but when I try to run the program in doesn't open. The program shows up in the list of installed programs and in Program Files/Wi Fi Client. Tried a soft reset, but still not working. Any help is appreciated.
uh im a noob but what would be the benefits of using/having a opera proxy
and is the mediamall like a appstore from att?
and what does the att wifi cab do

I haven't been able to get the wifi client working. It just instructs me to turn on my wifi in comm manager and gives me the opportunity to search for locations. Unfortunately, I still was hit by the starbucks wifi login page when I tried.

It seems the tilt 2 ships with 2 different proxy settings out of the box. 1 is a hidden proxy setting in the registry, the other is set in your opera settings. This basically instructs the device to view the internet via ATTs system (basic explanation). You need to do this to access Cellular Video/MediaNet, but otherwise it is usually better to circumvent the proxy.
Right, MediaMall is an ATT appstore filled with java based apps.
ATT Wifi cab supposedly lets you use WiFI for free wherever ATT Wifi is offered (Starbucks/McDonalds/airports).
ATT Wifi
I actually was able to use the ATT wifi at the local Starbucks today. I just turned on my wifi and it picked up the ATT network. I noticed that the ATT Wifi client had added some networks to the list, I guess that did the trick.
Does anyone have the att wifi .cab or know where it is located?

Only if you pay ATT for the wifi service. If you use the MediaNet $15/month package I dont think it will work. I think the Wifi and 3G package starts around $39.

I think the exact requirement is the 30 dollar a month data plan and a newer Windows Mobile device. Any Tilt 2 owner theoretically meets this due to the forced data plan requirement.

I pay $10 for family data unlimited which is usually called $15 for MediaNet unlimited but if you have txt plan it is only $10. This is the plans for non-smartphones on ATT.
I would rather save the monthly fee and not use crappy att wifi. This new att wifi is a way to try to lessen the load on 3G network since they suck. A little while ago the ATT wifi was $69 a month with 3G combo. They added the wifi to the standard package for smartphones in an attempt to get people to use the wifi when available but unless you need a lot of bandwidth (torrents) then the 3G should support the user needs without having us manually look and turn on wifi just to help them out.

Do you have any clue what this hidden proxy in the registry is? How do I set it so I can use the media mall. I've set everything in Opera and can get to the media mall but all I get for anything is a message saying "no results for your handset." I went to the Media Mall on line (desktop) and found what I was looking for but when I tried the download via a text message they sent it tells me my device isn't supported
Anyone have a clue?
