I dont use from changing rom Dialup because i wasnt out of office....but now i wanted to connect my notebook via Uni and Bluetooth found only Bluetooth Network and Serial Service....
Anybody can help me why i don see modem ? I cant connect from my notebook via UNI...
THnx for help...
I believe . . .
Since AKU 3 BT DUN was dropped in favour of BT Personal Area Networking
I am also having trouble with this, as my primary OS is OS X which lacks a PAN service.
Helmi has released the broadcomm stack as a test but that fails for me atm.
Try using PAN if you can?

...Thnx
Great link for tutorial BUT....
Everything i understand i tried a lot of things but it only works via USB cable ...
I tried Internet sharing but if i choose Internet connection which i am using in mobile and works in Internet sharing it say that it cant connect because unknown reason ...
Sorry for my not so good english....
Ive installed wm6 black and 3des.1 cooked roms of wm6 and I definitely want to keep wm6 for now, however I am totally unable to connect my Hermes to my laptop for use as a modem . I have tried the internet sharing option which seems to do nothing (on the old wireless modem app it would request drivers, when switched on this one just says 'limited or no connectivity' and doesnt request any drivers at all).
My favoured method however was to use bluetooth DUN, but when attempting to pair the devices with wm6 i simply get told 'Services requiring registration were not found by bluetooth settings. The specified device provides the following services: FTP, OPP and BIP'.......basically no DUN option there at all.
I have tried activating internet sharing via bluetooth before pairing and this made no difference.
Please help someone - I really like wm6 but I need to use my phone as a modem when I'm out and about. I had no problems with wm5.
My OS is XP Pro SP2 and the current ROM on my device is 3DES.1.
I've checked these forums for help with no luck, so any advice would be greatly appreciated

This has to do with the fact that ics doesn't work with the toshiba bluetooth stack.... If you change to the microsoft stack on yout XP laptop you will be able to use ICS.
Cheers,
HJ
only problem is, that not all PC bluetooth device have this choice, I mean change stack to microsoft.... before you buy any BT stick, look at manufarcuter web, if it is possible to use MS stack. I dont want to make propaganda for MSI products, but there is few BT, which have this choice. actually I using THIS one, and here is possible to install MS stack. here is manual, how to install this device with MS BT stack.
PS: this question has been answered XXX times, so try to search before ask
my bluetooth is integrated into my laptop, hence the convenience. why have microsoft taken a seemingly downward step in windows mobile 6 and made it even LESS compatible than before?!? seems a bit stupid to me.
Also this doesn't answer the question of why I am unable to connect my device via USB. I need this function for work. is there any way of installing the old wireless modem app as a simple solution?
thanks everyone for your help so far
i have same problem with my laptop , the BT device is built in and not supported by microsoft stack.
Also the usb is a problem , i installed activesync 4.5 but when i start internet sharing it tell there is no or limited network activity so doesn't work with usb too
Does someone know if widcomm stack can work too ?
i can confirm the microsoft stack work fine on pcs where the BT device is supported ....
Can someone help ???

Care to tell us what laptop are you using and what bluetooth stack involved because some hardware could be forced to be supported by the MS driver.
sorted
VDAVIDE, you may be pleased to hear this.
just TURN OFF BLUETOOTH in comms manager, go to internet sharing and select USB/T-mobile (or whatever your connection is called) then hit connect. It then just connects as a local area connection - no need for drivers - nothing - it's absolutely brilliant and means I can just plug and browse on any laptop. Screw the bluetooth connection, I'm sticking with USB - more reliable, more convenient and it charges my phone too.

THX for reply , but as i wrote also the usb is not working ... i tried as u wrote but the pc say " no or limited network activity , error is : can't get IP address from the device " .
@ Ciphol :
i'm running XP home with SP2 , my laptop is ASUS A6 series model Z92J with internal BT 183 2.0 + edr module ( manifactured by toshiba ) that seem to be an usb module .
The only BT stack supported by the BT183 is the ( obviously) toshiba stack .
I reistalled the BT183 toshiba drivers manually ( not the stack software ) but the module is ignored by MS stack....
I searched for drivers on the net but no lucky.
Any help is appreciated , thx again

Connection through USB supposed to be ok, hmm... but you can try to force the bluetooth hardware to be supported by the MS driver. Could you please do this and give me the details.
The step:
1. Start > Control Panel > System > Hardware > Device Manager
2. Find the unknown USB driver ( The one with the ? beside it)and right clicking on it > Properties > Details > Click the dropdown option and select 'Hardware Ids'
3. You will see something like 'USB\Vid_044E&Pid_300c&Rev_1915' and maybe 'USB\Vid_044E&Pid_300c'.
4. Write down the Ids. and post it here.

I hope you've given me the complete Ids.If so then try this one. Backup the original bth.inf inside \windows\inf\ folder and replace with the one from this archive. Now try to install again by pointing to the new bth.inf. But please uninstall any previous installation first. If not success then tell me since I'm trying to use the widcomm stack.
thx CYPHOL , i will try tomorrow
i'm added the original inf file for this device ...

I tried the Internet Sharing facility on my XP tower upstairs (which has never had Activsync on it) and it works just the same - no need for drivers - it's as if I'm just plugging an ethernet cable in.
Be interested to know if the same will be true of old laptops with SP1, as is mine at work.
I am trying to connect using USB and nothing happened. No activity or anything on the laptop and I can't connect to the Internet.
I am runnign Sony VAIO and I have ActiveSync 4.5. I have an MDA Compact III (with built-in GPS) running WM5 and it also have the "Internet Sharing" application. I connected this device with Internet Sharing running and all works well.
What am I missing frommy 8525/TyTn with WM6?

WM6 is using PANU whereas WM5 is using NAP as to connect through Bluetooth but if you use USB it should connect as is only that you have to switch the bluetooth off before making the connection.
FYI, I'm using Vaio VGN-TX37GP and can connect through both the USB and Bluetooth conns. after modifying the infos on the MS inf driver file.
@CYPHOL
Dear Cyphol, thx , i can now use my laptot with BT internet sharing using your modified bth.inf . MS stack is now running
Only one thing , the line you edited has an error but fixed and working

Hi,
I searched my $ss of the internet to find a clear explanation how to use my MDA compact III (artemis) running windows mobile 6 as a USB modem within Ubuntu linux to browse the internet.
After a lot of reading I've got the feeling that the problem is not on linux but the lack of a proper tool within windows mobile 6 that allows internet sharing through the USB connection.
Is there anyone who managed to use his WM6 phone connected using USB to a laptop running linux?
If so please help me out, I'm desperate.
Thanks in advance
