hi
i have the xda2s, that has a fault, when the battery is taken out it will not switch on for a good few hours. the power button works fine as i can turn the backlight off fine when on. i have sent the phone off to the xda repair center, but they nust have overlooked it, and sent it back with the same fault. ive been trying to get through to o2 about getting the phone replaced, as i dont want to wait the week and a half for xda repair center to fix the phone. but o2 customer services dont whant to be of any help since i dont have an o2 sim contract. i dont see why i need one, as its there phone and its faulty and still in warrenty. im leaving on a buisness trip in the next week and will be out of the country for quiet some time. so i havent realy got time to sending letters to get things sorted.
any help would be appreciated
thanks
Ariel
could be some really simple. Does a red light come on (top left) when you try and charge the unit. if so i had the same problem. i was charging the unit on a slight angle (so much for ergonomic desks) must have given it a bad connection. I'm sure you have already tried this but when i happens take the battery out for a min then give it a go.
your right about the red light, ive just placed an order fot the xda 2s cradle,do you think that would solve the problem
when i take the battery out it takes a good few hours to switch back on, is the phone now broken at the bottom, or is it just simply a case of not useing the usb cable charger again, would that solve the problem.
i had a suspecion that it could be the charger because my xda 2s with a broken screen developed the same recently aswell.
i realy hope this isnt permanent and if it is, hope its covered under warrenty
thanks for your help

ok looks like te problem was just the clip. its cracked on the side, so that not all the clip moves when you lock the battery in place. as the clip also has the power of turning the phone off, most probebly to stop a short circuit, it seems that the half that dosent move is stuck in the off postition. this can move by applying a little presure. does anyone know a way of fixing the clip or possibley getting a new one from somewere. or could it be covered under warrenty, can you think of an excuse were it could be.
thanks for all your help

If you're reading this, you're probably having a problem with your phone screen flickering rapidly for a few seconds, then the phone shutting off. Fear not though, this is not a result of a bad flash!
CHECK YOUR BATTERY!
Yes, that is right, your battery. Feel for any bulges, set it up on a countertop and look at it from the side, spin it on your counter, something.
If it is bulging, call Sprint or Samsung immediately, because your battery is defective, and you don't want it exploding in your pocket!
Now, the reason I'm posting this, is I've searched the internet thoroughly, and have not found one single bit of information on the screen flicker problem, but reading a bit up on batteries, I came up to this conclusion, and I was right, so I decided to alert my fellow XDA members. Stay safe guys.
Also: If your power button does not turn on your phone for one push, then you may have a problem with the power button;the power button or anything else not working, other than charging and screen flicker is not related and you may have a defective phone.
I'll update this later with how it went at the Sprint SAR Center, but I definitely need a new battery.
Edit 9/1/12: Had to send battery to Sammy since the Sprint corporate store wanted to charge me $45. Battery should get here in about 2 weeks. D:
Edit 9/2/12: I visited a Sprint store yesterday to try to get my phone checked out to see about the power button, and it's definitely broken. I had to talk them into replacing the phone rather than fixing it. I also got a white one, too.
Oh thank God, happens less than an hour after full charge, screen flickers, then LOS, then dies, if i reboot, it says battery fully discharged. Then as soon as i plug it in, it's fully charged again
EDIT: Took to Sprint, problem confirmed, spun the battery on the counter, replaced no questions asked

By any chance do you have insurance? I took it to Sprint, and they told me it was $45 since I had no insurance, so I kindly declined. ._.

Tried two already. .-. A corporate and a regular store. Maybe it's just everyone in Miami is a douche
This just started happening to me a few days ago, but my battery isnt swollen.
I just came to the general section to ask if this happened to anyone else. I just requested a replacement battery Sprint yesterday. Not only did I experience the screen flickering and constant shutdowns after about 1 hour, but my battery was bulging so bad that it barely fit in the phone. I hadn't thought about opening the phone to check the battery until the phone started smelling like it was burning.
Woke this morning to find my wife's phone untouchably hot after being plugged in all night and the battery is bulging. Sprint better replace this no questions asked.

Good luck with that! I came in, and they were all like "$45 since u don't haz inshuranse, lol fuk u"
Well, not exactly like that, but something similar. Anyways, I called Samsung, and they were nice about it, asked me to ship it in, and they pay everything, and also went ahead and ordered an OEM battery and charger from Amazon, but I'm screwed because they're both taking at the very least a week.

Keep your eye on it mate, as soon as it's hard to put on the back cover, it's begun.
This is good to know so you can get it fixed quickly
This is wild. I thought there was something deteriorating within my ROM over the past few weeks. It's been getting more sever. Just before typing this, my battery had died and now it will boot to the lock screen and freeze. I noticed things like the battery icon and service icon completely disappear and reappear. This is all new on type of the other issues described in this thread. I'll be calling Sprint first thing in the morning.
this is good info .. I was starting too wonder if I had done something when I flashed a new rom on ...
I called Sprint yesterday and they too told me since I didn't have insurance that it would cost $35 to bring it in for a tech to look at.
If it is just the battery, I ordered another from Amazon. If it is the phone, then I'll have to suck it up. I got this phone the DAY it came out, Sept. 16, 2011.
Needless to say I'm hoping it's only the battery.
2 weeks without a replacement battery, I'm getting frustrated at Samsung lol

If you have any way of checking if the phone is also messed up, do, and if it is, you should go out and exchange the phone for $35. My power button is completely dead, which I thought was somehow related to the battery, but it wasn't. So every time I want to turn the phone on, I gotta pull the battery, and it starts up for me, since I guess the button is stuck. I got mine September 20th of last year, so my upgrade isn't till July, and I'd rather pay 35 dollars and use this thing till Monday, than to use it till July or even worse, not have a phone at all while Sammy figures out what to do with it. Plus, the guy at the store hooked me up with a white one.

Try three weeks to a month. LOL. Apparently it takes "5-7 business days" to spin a battery on a counter...

Yep, took 4 days to get there, and 7 days just to look and a bulged battery and another 3 because they "want to make sure" is fu**ing frustrating lol. Even a pack of amputated monkeys can see the battery being defective ...
after updating to FH13 through Kies, whenever I have GPS on and may 3G data on my phone would do a quick restart to the 4G logo bootup. all this within 15 seconds. it is not the full restart where you see the Samsung Galaxy S2 in the beginning the and 4G logo animation.
this seems to happen only when my GPS is on and maybe 3G data, had occurrences with 3G only not 4G.
I have a few batteries for sale if you are interested

Hi all, I'm pretty lost here. My Note II (N7100) suddenly won't charge. Earlier today it charged just fine. I've only ever run stock with root on it. It's not the charger, it's not the cable. I've tried many of both, all of which worked before, none of which work now. I flashed back to stock recovery and did a factory reset, and the problem persists.
When I plug it into a charger while off, briefly a gray battery screen with what looks like a stationary 'wait spinner' will pop up and then the screen will turn back off again. I know the USB port is not totally FUBARed, because I can flash it with heimdall in Linux. It shows up in lsusb when in the bootloader, but not otherwise. The port is pretty much spotless, especially compared with that on my GNex, which still works fine.
I've tried leaving the battery out for an hour, holding the power button, etc. It almost seems like a problem that could be solved by discharging some capacitors, but battery pulls always solved those on my Galaxy Nexus.
Any thoughts on other things I can try?
I can't even figure out how to contact Samsung support in case this is somehow a warranty/hardware issue. At least on their US site the N7100 isn't even an option in the pulldowns they want me to go through.
After some calls to Samsung USA and Canada, I gave up. Apparently the phone is from the UAE, for which Samsung USA has no phone number, and their repair centers won't touch it if it's international. This is really stupid and I plan to write to Samsung about it. It had only been three weeks since I ordered it, so I am returning it to the Amazon seller for a refund. I'll let them deal with their supplier in UAE I guess. I hate to do that, but it seems to be a hardware problem and I have no other recourse at this point.
I cant really help here but i wanted to let you know i had the same problem with a white note 2 from Carphone Warehouse in the UK, just stopped charging after owning the phone for 2 days (i had also only rooted and running stock rom).
Carphone warehouse replaced the handset for me and havent had a problem with the new one so far but its made me take extra care when plugging or unplugging the usb cable ( i use Airdroid for file transfers now). I guess there must be a defect with a limited few usb ports on the note 2.
I thought it might be a 3rd party usb cable to blame (i use a blackberry usb cable at work but ive stopped that now and only use the official Samsung cable).
Sorry i cant help just wanted to share my experiences, hope you get it sorted, good luck!
Thanks for chiming in Steve, good to know I'm not the only one. I saw another post on here like that too, maybe it was yours? There was no discussion. The strange thing is ODIN worked just fine. Maybe a loose connection only on one/both of the power pins?
Nah it wasn't me mate, I had just put it down to me being heavy handed and thought nothing more of it till I saw your post.
I've seen a post in the Jellybam thread today about the charging being down to software but I don't know how true this is as i've yet to check the facts.
Did you manage to get it replaced? I remember it was the worst feeling in the world when the realization hit that my phone wouldn't charge.

Yeah I just invoked the Amazon.com return policy, sent it back for a refund, and ordered another one. It was supposed to arrive today, but apparently UPS had some kind of mechanical issue and now it's delayed until tomorrow. I just need it to get here before my next month's Verizon plan bills so I can cancel before paying another month.
Sorry to drag up an old thread but this has just happened to me, EXACTLY the same as OP.
I've reset it, wiped everything, re-flashed latest stock firmware. Tried 3 different cables and two different chargers.
Pretty sure the battery is good because if I take it out of the phone and charge it on the dock, it works fine. If I then put the battery back into the phone, the phones works in every way except it wont charge
I have most of my digital life on this thing, I am so screwed without it. Look like its a warranty repair job then? Ive had the phone about 3 months from Phones 4U :crying:

Happened to mine to T-mobile version. Never dropped it, never got it wet, only 1.5 months old.
WTF? Seriously?
Behavior:
Charges sometimes.
Charge sometimes stops at 70% or less.
Screen sensitivity screws up sometimes.
Data constantly being transmitted whether WiFi or cell network.
Never dropped.
Never wet.
Never harshly impacted.
Never rooted.
Tried factory reset.
Tried pulling battery.
Tried different chargers and cables.
Wondering if the trident aegis case put too much pressure on the charger cable by pushing it sideways with the flap.
Any ideas?
Hardware problem.

Check in the box, and if you have an EROS Group sticker on it that means it's covered under warranty here in Dubai, UAE as they are the main distributor here for Samsung products.
Sent from the rabbit hole.
This happened to me yesterday after spilling tea on it. I took the device apart as per this video, checked the connectors and reassembled it. Voila, the charger is working again. Obviously I take no responsibility etc etc.
My Samsung Galaxy Note 2 wont charge
I have also had this problem where my galaxy note 2 wont charge. I have tried all the chargers i have used successfully in the past and none of them will charge it now. I had the problem some weeks ago and now it has happened again. I only purchased the phone in January 2013. It is very frustrating. I have never dropped my phone or damaged it in any way what so ever. I have no idea what the problem could be but i will be taking it back to Telstra as i need it sorted out.
Same problem here - is this a generic problem with the Note 2??
I always put my phone on charge overnight , woke up yesterday and it hadn't charged. Swapped batteries - no problem - then put original battery back in, hey presto, charging!
But since then both batteries have run out and I couldn't get either to take any charge. Got it plugged in now and just like other people I've got a static charging ring showing, And no power.
Bought an external charger to try and get round this, but has anyone come up with a proper solution??

Strange...
a mate of mine just mentioned to me today that his note was charging strangely recently, apparantly he took an air gun (on low setting) to the charging port to blast out any miniscule dust n stuff and that fixed it!
Seems they're very sensitive and the smallest thing can make it act strange

It happne to my note 2 as well
I had to give it for repair to service center now i just want to know what triggered it and how to prevent it..................

Can confirm this is the case! Tried everything, but the blowing air into the USB socket worked :good:
Hi all, a quick question: I've been waiting for a good 2nd hand bargain to buy a Note 2, then one shows up on ebay for a very good price. Problem is, it's dead. Guy has impeccable feedback and says it's in brand new cond but it just won't power on, just the red LED blinks when he tries to charge it. It's an LTE model too which would make it less than half price than new.
I've asked him what happens if he puts it in download/recovery mode and am waiting for a reply. Are there any inherent problems with the 7150 that are fairly inexpensively fixed? Does this sound like one or is it likely to be shot? Anything I should ask him to check to see if it's fixable?
Thanks!
It seems device is victim of SDS(sudden death syndrome) and repair cost will be nearly half of device price
In case of SDS you will needs to replace Motherboard
If you want to deal, first ask price of motherboard + repairing charge to service station and sum it to device price. Then you can decide to make deal or not.
Two halves make a whole, so not much point going for it rather than a brand new one!
Thanks, I'm confident a better one will come along
It's wise decision.

What's up folks...I've got an issue with three different Mophie's and wanted some opinions.
Upon getting the cases, all works well. Lights are working/displaying, power button is active, switch works great, etc.
On all 3 cases (2 black cases from Best Buy and 1 silver from mophie directly) they randomly become unresponsive and dead to world at random times.
The only way I have found to "revive" them is to plug them in and the lights will show fully charged and ready to roll...only to do the exact same thing less than a minute later.
I've reached out to Mophie, and they had no idea what I was talking about...and I've returned the 2 black cases to Best Buy. I'm due to send the silver one back tomorrow, but was really hoping to avoid doing this, as it's the only case I've come across that I actually like...aside from this lovely little issue, that is.
So yeah...any best practices or anything would be ultra helpful.
Only thing I can really think of at this point would be either my phone or there is just something wrong in general with the packs...but I just find that so hard to believe, as there are countless out there that aren't having these issues. And if they are, I haven't been able to fid anything on line just yet.
Thanks again for any help, I really appreciate it.
I actually had the exact same issue on my first Mophie for the One. I had to kind of "jump start" it even though it was charged. Wouldn't light up or charge. Then I exchanged it after a couple days, and the micro-usb port on the replacement was bent (badly enough that the case wouldn't seal.) The third unit I got works perfectly, I love it. Thankfully I work at Best Buy and exchanging it only took a couple minutes.
I would recommend you swap it out until you get a good one.
Right on. That's kind of what I was afraid of. Good to know it's nothing on my end, just sucks that it might be one of those revolving door issues until I get lucky enough to find one that jives.
Thanks.

I don't know about dead in minutes, but I've definitely felt the batteries are draining out much, much faster than they should. I'm considering doing a return or exchange to Best Buy (across the street from work, great stuff) soon. At least they price-matched against Amazon post purchase.
Mine does it on occasion, I just deal with it. Over all the case is a lifesaver.
Yeah, I've loved them in the past. But sadly a case that gives me 5% and then is useless until I can give it a jump start from a wall charger for another 5%.
I mean, if I was around a wall charger all the time, I wouldn't need the case.
Really a bummer.

I had a definite scare where mine wouldn't do jack for the first few days, but now things have evened out, and some error messages on my work computer yesterday tipped me off that the USB port I'd been using to charge was just flat out faulty. I think I'll run caseless for now (or buy a slimmer case), but definitely going to hold onto this for a trip.
Mine is doing the same thing. I bought it and the phone last Friday and used it Saturday but it did not seem to work. This is my fist Mophie and I could not remember what exactly to expect from reading the instructions. I took it home and charged it and all was good, or so I thought. I tried using it Monday and it showed to start charging my phone only for me to start hearing the phone warning of low battery every few seconds. I messed with it and it started working but only charged the phone for an hour than was dead. had to plug in to get a responce from it. I will take it back to BB and try another,.
I've got a replacement phone coming in tomorrow for other reasons...so I'm curious to see if anything changes. I REALLY want to keep this silver mophie, but it isn't looking likely.
Really hope someone from Mophie can voice on the matter, as I'm curious to see how widespread these issues are
