XDA 11s Touch screen frozen - MDA III, XDA III, PDA2k, 9090 General

I have recently purchased XDA11s about two weeks ago. The touch screen function initially appeared unreliable, sometimes rectified by turning off and or a soft reboot. However over the last three days the problem has become more noticable. Yesterday the problem could not be rectified by either a soft or a hard reboot. The latter if anything has made matters worse because the device requires a functional touch screen following a hard reboot to enable the PC to be set up. I have contacted the vendor and O2 support. The latter have said that it is almost certainly a hardware issue and directed me to a UK number (not much use in Melbourne). The vendor has directed me to a third party ? supplier ? repairer: Phonenomena. Will let readers know the outcome of all this. I suspect there were other problems with the device but because of my inexperience with the device, I thought I needed to learn more about the XDA. I could not set up the Wi Fi at home despite having two laptops sharing internet access with a desktop via a wireless router.
Does anyone know who is responsible for replacement/ repair of this device in Australia? I am assuming the vendor however he is interstate (device bought on e-bay), and there might be a local distributor/repairer in Melbourne.

SPVM2000 no sound (response from Orange) help needed

Hi
Just got off the phone with Orange as the replacement phone they sent me also has the "no sound in call" bug (can not hear other party without soft reset)
They said, that as far as they are aware, there is no known fault with this Phone and no inherrent fault.
The Phone was supplied to me in working order and must have developed a fault after.
Their technicians are not aware of any known issues with "no sound in call" and the manufacturer is not aware of any issues with the SPVM2000.
I said itis well reported on this site, to which they said this is not an XDA it is a SPVM. so it is not relevant.
I said it is the same phone!!
I told them that I was surprised at their repsonse, but I would ask others to see if I am alone in having a Orange SPVM phone that about once a week needs a reset becuse the other party can not be heard.
Please help me. If you are another SPVM2000 user, that has suffered with this fault at any time, please reply, as I will then present them the information, that they can not deny.
Hi,
I have two SPV 2000 from Orange UK and *both* exhibit this problem with the ROM's they were shipped with (one had 1.40 the other 1.31). The one phone has been abandoned by it's user as it's just too unreliable, whilst my phone now has the Wizard WM5 port, and that does work OK (although WM5 has it's own problems).
As we all know this is the most common problem with the BA device - funny how Orange have never heard of it!
Yeah - this happens to me. It happens consistently when you turn bluetooth off. If you do a soft reset all works fine.
great, thats what I needed.
Pity no one else replied.
Ill give it another couple of days.
After this I will present them all the results and maybe a letter from Small claims, as they should not be selling phones they know will fail in service.

HTC Artemis freezes or blacks out

Hi,
For two days I have had a serious problem with my HTC P3300 Artemis:
There are actually 3 different things that happen:
1. The phone freezes while working. No idea what causes it. Happened at different occasions.
2. The phone doesn't wake up when I hit the wake-up-button.
3. Often while rebooting the screens whites out or whites out and gets green or purple vertical lines.
In each case only removing the battery helps.
I use Mossisrom as my OS.
Can anybody tell me how to fix the problem? Is it a hardware or software problem? Please help me!!!

I get the problem about waking up too. Sometimes it won't for a while. I leave it a couple of seconds and then try again which usually works.
Have you checked how much free internal memory you have. WM seems to still be very sensitive to low memory.
Hi,
I am rather sure that it's not a memory issue. The system freezes completely, not just for some seconds. I can't call the phone either. I think its either a SW or a HW problem and hoped, someone could tell me what to do.

I can only suggest resetting the ROM back to a standard one and seeing if you still get the problems. If you do, it is probably a hardware problem and you should get the phone replaced.
I had the exact same problem with my P3300. It's a malfunction in the Motherboard. I've called the dutch helpdesk and because a hard reset didn't do much good the PDA was picked up later that day to be sent to Eurotwice, the repair station in Belgium. I got my phone back 2 weeks later, I started it and it froze again! So I immediatly called HTC Netherlands and again, the P3300 was picked up by UPS that afternoon. The second time I wrote a letter to the repair station and sent it with my phone. In another topic on another website I read that some other phone with the same problem had been fixed by replacing the motherboard. I got my phone back today and it works great! It hasn't crashed today, and I have confidence it won't in the future. So my tip to you and anyone who experiences this problem: Call the HTC helpdesk in your country and ask them to sent your PDA to a repair station. It might take a while but they fix it well! By the way, you have 2 years full garantee so it didn't cost me anything! Great service from HTC!
Wow, you had a great experience from HTC . I didn't. I had the exact same problem as posted. HTC claimed I broke the phone myself and wanted to charge me. They claimed something broke behind the screen and that I must've pressed it too hard, despite the screen still being intact. After three months of phone calls to the UK and a lot of empty promises (promised to get a manager to call me back, never got them. promised to discuss with repair dept and call me back, never got them) I finally got my phone back , fixed. No explanation as to why they changed their mind. I had asked them to take a picture for me of what was broken and to how they came to the conclusion that I was the one who broke it. Maybe they were too lazy to do it.

p600 wifi turning off on of on off on....

Ok this started last night, tablet has been working flawlessly for the last 6 months or more.
What happened was, I wasn't able to use the Internet. Just wasn't working. And every 20 seconds or so it would flash up at the bottom of the screen "connected to (my router)".
So I turned wifi off and on, which usually fixed connection issues, but didn't help. I also restarted router, even though my computer and my phone isn't having any issues.
So then I went to the wifi settings screen to see if there was any way to reset networks. What I saw was this:
If i turn wifi toggle on and watch the screen, it would scan for networks, find the list... Couple seconds pass... Then the toggle would switch itself off and back on! And then it would start looking and finding networks again, and then off and on, and etc etc.
I have tried a factory reset and cache reset.
I have also downloaded the 4.4.2 stock rom and installed using odin for a totally new install.
Still does it.
Any suggestions? Seems very strange. It's under warranty but it seems like an odd hardware fault, seems more like software but I dunno.
Help me xda, you're my only hope.
I've been searching the Internet all day trying to find someone else havin this problem... But I seem to be the only one. And noone seems to have any suggestions.
At the moment I'm having to consider a warranty dispute, but that means however many days/weeks without the tablet which I use on a daily basis.
Not ideal Samsung.

Hey. I had the EXACT same problem. Even made a video of it and showed it to the service point personell. Turning on off on again and again, it also displays in the settings the switch just switches itself without any action of mine. It was a hardware defect. send it in and get a new one, better than being annoyed by it. Mine did it on a 5-10sec interval length...

Yeh mines probably every 5-10 seconds...
So this is definitly a hardware fault? In which case I'll have to get in touch with john lewis and hope they will do an exchange in store. If it involves having to send it off to samsung and waiting for it..
Anyway thanks for replying to the question, shame it wasn't better news haha!

yeah sorry to be the one to tell you this is a faulty device but it seems like this unit ain't free of errors and there quality control is somewhat sketchy.
Which android version are you running? I am asking because I run kitkat and also have relatively ****ty battery life. I use it for university so I have the screen on and write notes during lectures. Usually it lasted 7-8hours but for about a week or two it now only lasts 4-5 hours of screen time which is really ****ty.
I read somewhere that this might be a motherboard issue and if it is it might be somewhat corellated to our wifi problem. In my case they replaced the wifi module and gave me back my "old" device but this is having bad battery life so I am thinking about sending it in (again). I did however root so I would have to make use of the warranty provided by the seller, not samsung itself, since my knox is tripped.
(in Germany the sellers also must provide 6months - 2 years of warranty and there was a judgement in Europe that rooting must not have any influence on wether your device still is under warranty or not. sadly this only applies to the warranty provided by the seller, not the manufacturer)
Is your BT on and are you connected to a 2.4 GHZ network?
If so, turn off BT
I get random WiFi disconnects and reconnects from 2.4 GHZ networks when BT is on but not connected. Though, Ive never noticed the wifi switch going off and on.
I am running 4.4.2 or whatever, kitkat anyway.
Bluetooth is off, I never use it on my tablet. I dunno what network type I'm running, might be N or might be B/G, but whatever it is it what it has been for months as I havent changed any router settings lately.
I have restarted the router twice already in case this was a network problem, but the network wouldn't cause the wifi to toggle off and on, it would just cause disconnects etc. Least I assume so. I may try this just in case but like I said the network type hasn't changed lately
John Lewis are saying they won't exchange it, it will have to be sent off to Samsung for "repair". Meaning I'll probably get sent back a refurbished second hand one with a dodgy light bleed screen, as I expect they have hundreds of those lying around now.
Oh and it'll be up to 28 days. For a premium and expensive device that's less than 6 months old this just isn't good enough.

I had mine replaced as well but dont remember wether I got a new one or just my old one repaired... should have written down the IMEI I guess :-/
you're from Bristol, don't the EU rights apply there? If so your retailer should be obliged to replace or repair the device.

Anyways my replacement was done through Samsung and it took 6 days. But then again idk differences between UK and Germany...

Ghost Touches on my Zenfone

Hello everyone,
Since yesterday i have been experiencing ghost touches on the top part of my screen., and it keeps increasing. I have not been able to find a solution uptil now.
I am prism barebone Rom (Stock). I was using google launcher, tried removing it, but not of much help.
I am not able to understand whether its a Software issue or a Hardware issue. Should i take this to Asus, i am already rooted, so wonder whether they would help or not.
if you got your device bootloader unlocked , your warranty void but i think there is some article how to getyour bootloader relocked but idk i havent got my device unlocked yet. but another story if you havent done anything to your device, just bring it to asus and get repaired

I am also a prism barebone user and I have the same ghost touch problem time to time. I started noticing this after I received my last update (165).
My bootloader is unlocked and there is no way to relock the bootloader (except flashing the dark splash screen to make it appears to be locked) as such I can not repair my device with warranty. I could do out of pocket repair though.
I did search on xda , internet and found so many postings without any proper solution except send it back to Asus repair service. (Asus changes the digitzer part)
Here is what I found.
1. The Ghost touch (it also called Phantom touch) started noticing around December 2015, after taking the last update. So it could be software related. Asus has aware of this problem and we are hoping that the next update would fix this problem.
2. Everybody who had their warranty repair said that the problem was fixed. So it could be hardware related.
- Some said that they download and flashed the latest firmware and it solved the problem.
- Some said that they replaced the ZenUI with Google launcher and it solved the problem.
Here is one I thought it is useful so I copied it to my note pad. I did not copied the name of the original writer so I don 't know who wrote it.
"For millions of ASUS Zenfone users having Ghosh Touch issue there are 2 temporary solutions you may try:
i) Slightly Bend your Zenfone towards front and back - this should instantly solve your ghost touch issue but only temporarily (be very cautious while bending your phone as excessive bending may damage your screen)
ii) Do Not Keep your mobile phone in the pockets of your trousers as it may again bend your phone and cause ghost touches
iii) Even if the ghost touch is fixed try running the SMMI Test (Touch screen Test - draw a big 'S' from top to bottom of the screen and repeat it from left to right side of the screen) frequently to find if it is really a hardware issue, while testing you may find sometimes the tests are passing while sometimes the tests are failing. If the Tests fails frequently please take it to local ASUS authorized service center immediately for a hardware fix, take screen shots of the tests before visiting the place. "
I used to have screen and phone cover. I took those off .
I no longer put the phone in my trouser pocket.
I did bend the phone sometime.
I am waiting for the next Asus update.

Hmm....i too looked it up and found that it could be software related.
So just for testing purposes, i have started using a custom rom. Uptil now i havent faced the ghosting issue. I will also try the methods you have listed.
I have a back cover that is pretty tight and a tempered glass. Will try removing those too.
Thanks a lot for your feedback!
In settings there is a setting to increase screen sensitivity if you are wearing gloves. Have you made sure this is unticked?

Yes, i did check it. It was unticked.
BTW i am cm13 now, and havent noticed any of the ghost touches for some time.
But now they are back. I assume it is hardware related now. Going to take it to asus.

i encountered the problem, i replaced asus launcher with nova launcher and problem was resolved

Unresponsive touch screen...

Has anybody noticed an intermittently unresponsive touch screen after the latest OTA? I haven't had any problems since they fixed the original problem way back when.
It goes completely unresponsive and I have to reboot several times to get it to work until it stops again. I'm assuming this is a hardware issue on my end since I haven't heard anybody else talking about it but I just wanted to make sure.
I think I will try a different kernel and/or ROM to see what that does.
Hi,
I have the same issue here, it started a few days ago for me. Up till today I just had to reboot but now it seems completely blocked... I will try again later but this is becoming really annoying
.
I had the same happen to me about 2 months ago. Happened around an OTA.
In the process of trying to replace it. Tried flashing recent factor images but no luck
I've had exactly the same issue as described. Hardware buttons work fine, but no response to touch. Started intermittently and got progressively worse until there is no touch response at all.
The first time this happened, I contacted google support, and they arranged a replacement. That was in June.
The replacement device has now developed the same fault, which progressed in the same way as the first device.
Just got off of the phone with Google support, and my second replacement is now on it's way.
Fingers crossed for 3rd time lucky.
Same thing...
This has started to happen to me -_- replacement is on its way. Doesn't seem like the problem is being fixed more or less just addressed...

Sadly they don't think the Pixel c is important enough but least the RMA is straight forward.

Ditto here. Just received "refurbished" (was actually new--factory wrap, unopened) replacement unit two days ago. Had my initial Pixel C about 10 months with zero issues. Then, a couple weeks ago, touch responsive became spotty, typically cured by putting tablet to sleep and waking. Progressively got worse until no touch response whatsoever. Physical buttons worked fine. Factory reset, tried flashing prior OS versions, etc. Nothing worked. Stock / unrooted.
But, Google customer service was very cool about the replacement.
How were everyone able to contact Google Support? I have the same problems with the touch screen, but am not able to find a way to contact Google about it. I had bought mine straight from Google Store.

I had the same problem after an OTA Security update yesterday. Booting into recovery and erasing cache fixed it for some time, then problem reappeared. Can be fixed by repeating the procedure. Seems a software problem to me.
Same problem. I can't even get it unlocked now as nothing registers.

I guess this is just a hardware issue because it happened to me twice and both times Google provided me with a new tablet. The only advice I can give you is to contact the support because in my opinion nothing can be done at our individual level...
Will they still replace out of warranty? Purchased Dec 21, 15. Tablet had been flawless until yesterday.

Hmmm I highly doubt it, but you can give it a try. Did you try to factory reset yet, just in case?
Yes, initiallyit was slightly working as of Wednesday and I factory reset. No change, but it registers no touches now so I can't even unlock it.
Google is getting me a replacement so I thank them greatly for that.

yeah, google did the right thing by shipping a replacement, bill3508. i just hope whatever hit your device is isolated.
2 issues I've come across lately with my Pixel C tablet:
1. Touchscreen unresponsive
The tablet has lost touchscreen responsiveness. When I touch the screen, nothing happens. Buttons pressing ok - it works.
I have connected the device to the PC by Vysor app. Using a mouse from PC I can manage. I tried diagnostics in programming options (I've turned on show touches on touchscreen and localization of the pointer) but no touches detected however mouse moves yes.
Rebooting didn't help - many trials. Safe mode neither.
I haven't done a full recovery to factory settings yet. I am afraid of loosing USB debugging mode. Looking foreward to finding software resolution before warranty replacement.
2. Power button doesn't light up the screen - possibly backlight fault (software?)
After few trials with power button the screen shows up. Sometimes I try reboot but the problem returns. It is randomly, sometimes after one pressing power buton, sometimes lastlky after few trials withe few rebooting.
When I put the tablet on light (a lamp or sunshine throug window) I can see the view of the screen darkly. So there is the view but without brightness.
Android 7.1.2, N2G47D
I have the same problem now.. However I've noticed the following: When the device is in the case which covers the screen and has a magnet, the problem will persist. If removed from the case and left for a day outside, the problem is gone (so far at least). I will return the device for a replacement and hope google can replicate the issue. Anyone else using a case with a magnet?
Yes I have the same problem and also a magnet case. But for me the problem is not gone, after removed from the case and left for a day outside .
Now I get a replacement from google.
Should I now no longer use a case with magnet? Is the case the reason for a broken pixel c?
