Hello Everybody
I am new to this site, i am having XDA IIs but its locked on O2. I tryed all posible ways to get unlock but no good luck . please anyone can help me getting this unlock. thankyou
Hi,
Use the search button Lots of posts on this!
But basically you can either:
A) Ring O2, pay them £15 and wait about 10 working days although in my case took about 20. Bah!
B) Visit http://www.imei-check.com/ and pay them £20 and have it unlocked in about 60 seconds (no really - We did my bosses this way!)
Hope that helps.

I was browsing around the net and found this site via google ads
http://www.discount-unlock.com/Unlock/GSM/1530/O2/XDA/IIs/
they appear to be able to unlock the XDA IIs via it's IMEI number I haven't used the service yet I was wondering if anyone else had ever used them?
possible unlock solution....
I've looked at the site: Although it's listed as "O2 XDA IIs", when you start filling in the details on the unlock page, it only lists some French operators and UK Vodafone as "current operator". O2 isn't listed!
I've sent them an email asking about this.
Mine is currently locked to O2 and I'm fed up with endless phone calls to them: I actually got them to agree to provide a free unlock code, but they don't seem to be able to actually get back to me with it......

hey i have unlocked my XDAIIS from unlockthatmobile.com
http://www.unlockthatmobile.com/xd.html
I send them the logfile and they have sent me back the unlock code. They supplied me with the unlock code after 1 and a half hours that i have sent them the logfile.
I personally recemmend them because it was a hassle for me to try to find someone who can unlock these xda2s . Ebay was slow and not good.

After reading all the doom and gloom on this forum about trying to get an XDS11s unlocked from o2 I thought sod it I'll ring em at o2 and ask politely if its possible. A very nice lady answered my call and I explained that I needed to get unlocked because I travel abroad a lot and needed to put a french or spanish sim in to save call charges. Certainly sir the lady said. It will take anything upto two weeks to get it done maybe, somebody will ring you in 24 hours to say wether it can be done. Lo and behold before the 24 hours was up she had called me back with an unlock code and it was done, all for no charge. So why all the hassle and doom and gloom amongst a lot of owners. why should anybody need to pay 20 quid to a third party to unlock these phones or was I just lucky.
Now I just have to weigh up which phone company after Hutchinson 3 ( which I have on another phone) can offer the cheapest call deal to put my new XDA 11s on. Anybody any thoughts ?
O2 xda location
Well not all xdaIIs will come from O2, some will be lock on a different provider and not all provider will be unlocking their phones once requested.
We get our XDA2s from O2 when they arive i call the retail help desk and within 2 hrs i get a unlocking code for them all.
I have never had any problems get a xda2s unlocked at all

Who know what is the cheapest way to unlock a mda pro?
This topic has been mentioned many times before, a forum search would probably have given you the answer
Unlock code from T-Mobile ~£15>
Send to IMEI Check - £50
Wait for the Devs to get an unlocker here - Free
ok, but how can I get the code from t-mobile for 15 Ł?
try searching the forum, i have said it once.....
Call them.
somebody alse?
Why don't you contact T-Mobile directly ? You can mail them or call them. You haven't got any other alternative.
Ah Yes there is another one as heliosfa said : Wait for the Devs to get an unlocker here - Free
why do people not read replies when it is something that they do not like?
Currently, apart from methods mentioned above, there is no way to unlock the universal[/u]
more unlock info
i was wondering, if anyone here has gotten the unlock code from T-mobile, does it take exactly 28 days or is it usually a week or something?
I just took my device to a local shop here in tampa, the guys said he will call me back in like 2-3 hours with the unlock code, i pay him $90 dollars when i get the code and if it works.
He said some really interesting stuff about a guy in Ukraine who unlocks the phones.
Can anyone here also explain how the unlock process works? and if anyone is working on the unlock, what is the current stage it is on, i really don't want to pay the $90, so if i can wait a week, i will, i really need a phone. Thanks to all.

hi mate i bought the same pphone over ebay i brought it cyprus and i have unlock it through an online service on ebay...
These phones are not supposed to be unlocked us they run the service from BT and they expect to use their services... and not pop up your sim from other providers..us this phone is practcly subsidised...
good luck
many thanks sir so how much do you pay for unlock is there is no other unlocking solution/??
well in the ebay uk they sell they sell the service for 30 pounds but i went to ebay.com not ebay.co.uk and there was a seller selling it for 19 dollars.. which is much much more cheaper...
Here is the auction....

i hope i could help...
I did the same as you and got the phone from BT - £5 a month for 18 months, bargain!
But it did take quite a bit of work to get it sorted, the BT software is erm, crap, to be polite. It slows the hell out of the machine and eats battery power.
First I unlocked the SIM as above using a US seller on ebay, which cost me £8. It was then app unlocked and flashed with the brilliant Kavana 080408, after that I didn't need to add anything else.
well i agree BT rom is a crab it needed 2 miniutes to boot and was very slow. I upgraded to kavanas rom for a while but i had stability problems with Jaggr i had to downgrade to the unbranded version. I dont know why... in kavanas rom the lower butto has been selected for celectask.exe which was alway unresponsive for me,,, no matter how many times i flashed it... even with rikkeys roms..... while in the unbranded windows mobile six is dedicated in creatng new mail... which works nicely
Hello, i have googled and searched all the threads but to no avail so decided to post another NooB thread!
I bought My arc from O2 on PAYG knowing full well that it was sim locked to this network. Having previously owned a HD2 i thought i could easily install a Open romm on it and it would cure the sim lock on it.
Upon looking into how to go about this i have seen threads on rooting but am unsure weather i will be able to do this on the 02 ROM that is installed on this. is it just a case of following the root guide then finding a general ROM for uk?
to summarise i just want to take the sim lock of so i can put my virgin sim card in and update to the latest android.
Thanks in advance
What happens when you put your Virgin sim in? O2 phones are usually sim-unlocked anyway, but no, rooting or debranding won't remove the lock.
Thanks for the quick reply
It just asks for a sim network unlock pin to enter.
i know i can request this but was told in the shop that i would have to have the phone for a year with O2 before i could do this. I should have just spent 50 pound more and got it sim free. i really thought that i could have worked a way around this though!
Any ideas?

Unfortunately, I have found with the Xperia Arc that it was a pain to get it unlocked. For the Orange San Francisco Android phone, someone at Modaco provided a free app that gives you your unlock code when you type in the IEMI number. Easy. On other phones, you often see codes for sale on auction sites, etc.
With the Arc, it seems it isn't anywhere near that easy or quick. In the end I had to get a refund from one online provider because they couldn't get the code (using their cheaper method - and I wasn't willing to pay for their more expensive service). In the end I used cellunlocker.net for a decent price, but it wasn't a pleasant experience from the point of view of not getting any updates on how long it would take (just kept getting told that it would be soon). However, in the end they did email the code and it did work - it just took about 2 weeks
this is what i found out online for you !!
Welcome to O2. Someone will be with you soon.
You're through to Ashton.
Ashton: Hi I'm Ashton. How can I help?
me: hi , i have a pay and go xperia arc and would like it unlocked , how long do i have to have the phone for and how much would it cost ?
Ashton: You've to use the phone on the O2 network for 12 months and then you can get it unlocked for a charge of £15.
pity ur not on contract as they do it straight away for free
Thanks for your replys. I thought it would be just a case of using a workround to install a generic rom and in turn this would take the sim lock off! I may jusy return the phone and buy a sim free version for a bit more. Cheers peeps.

There a guide here detailing how to debrand your Arc.
