Hi
Is there any way to sync PDA2k with Linux?
Is there any way to install linux on PDA2K?
In case it is possible, Is possible to rerturn to windoes later?
Thanks in advance.
I found this project a while back but have not yet had time to look into it to see how well it works. It should allow syncing and there are KDE and gnome wrappers for it
http://synce.sourceforge.net/synce/ SynCE
Maybe someone else has some experience with it and can help you more.

Hi guys,
I just update my qtek9000 with JASJAR_WWE_13076_164_10900_wwe_ship. It works fine so far except one thing. Has anyone tried Logmein with this new rom? It just does not go ahead even after I install the client program. I guess there's something wrong with the client or with the new PIE.
BTW, I have modifed the rom so that I can read and write Japanese. So, technically, the rom is not original. I did not install anything from the extended rom... should I install something out of it??

Hi,
This is known problem with logmein. The client program doesnt work with wm5 aku2. Logmein support tells they will fix it.....(dont tell when)
thanks for the info, dherrero
logmein ran with the rom Xda_Exec_Upgrade_v113188... i have to find an alternative solution until logmein fixes the client, then.
qt

Hi,
i have the same problem.Very annoying.Would you be so kind, and let me know if you find any alternative solution? And please if anybody realizes that they have fixed the problem, please send a message here.

if you have a global ip address assigned to your pc, i suppose you could use vnc.
in my case, i share an optical connection with other people in my apartment building, and do not have a global ip... so i do not think i can use vnc from outside.
well, it looks like i have to wait for logmein people to fix the client issue whatever it is...
cheers,
qt
try z2r2pc. It uses a callback system to comunicate the systems. Very fast, a little more dificult to setup, ftp included....And you only need one license to access 1 or more pc.....
loginme works now!
i tried logmein for the first time after i upgraded my universal with the new qtek rom, and it works now! great!!

hi is it possible ot ssh to the hermes, i do it with my ipot and its so much easier than finding the cable!
i have winscp what else do i need?
whats the user/pass to ssh also
thanks
Windows mobile doesn't have a ssh server built in. So, I'm guessing that if you could install one then you could ssh to it. I have never tried it. ssh seems to be more of a unix/linux thing, wich I am guessing the ipod os would be since it is an apple product.
Good luck. I hope this might give you something to search for.
Let us know how it goes.
bummer oh well thanks for the heads up

I don't use it either, but from a quick Google-Search, it seems there are quite a few alternatives that can be used. For instance, PuTTY has released an open source of PocketPuTTY. I have used PuTTY on a desktop, and if their PPC offering is as good, this must be a nice package. You can read more about it HERE.
Also, in February last year, ZaTelnet released a free SSH tunneling and port-forwarding program for Windows Mobile devices that supports the .NET Compact Framework 2.0. "ZaTunnel" boasts facilities for secure remote administration of Unix and other servers via Telnet, FTP, or VNC using mobile devices, according to the company. See more HERE
So it certainly looks like it CAN be done. This is what turned up on the first page of hits returned by Google. I'm quite sure there are MANY other applications available for SSH by now ... one just needs to do a quick search (and a lengthy read) to learn what options exist, and which one suits them the best.
Hope this helps,
-pvs

He is asking for a way to ssh to the Hermes,
the solutions you mention are to ssh from the phone...
He needs a ssh server to be run on the phone, the only thing i have found is the OpenSSH for Windows CE
Unfortunately for me it doesn't work... :-(

Once you have a usable sshd server running in your Hermes, what then? AFAIK there is no CLI (i.e. "DOS prompt") available in Windows Mobile. Maybe there's a port of Cygwin to WM.
Hi there, I'd really like to get started on a programming project for the Artemis.
Is it possible to get all the required tools and compilers free and legally?
I already have MS visual studio, but I have no idea if I can use it to develop for the Artemis. Do I need some expansion pack?
Cheers for any advice!
(I'm assuming there's no way I can develop a WM5 app in Linux? Without using Wine.)
Hi, did you find something about the tools required for this? I'd also like to start developing on WM6.1 but only found this ATM:

Hello all, I've flashed my Asus P320 to hdubli's cool WM 6.5 ROM. Of course, before this, I've tried the SPB Shell, PointUI, etc., but what I REALLY want, is to completely get RID of Windows. Replace the kernel, if I have to, and change my OS. To maybe, a Linux based system, or even the promising Google Android.
Is there any way I could do this?
Thanks a lot for your time
How much do you actually know about linux (any system, right now)?

ugh, tough,
how about playing with fancy Xwindow with a lot of mouse clicks?
sorry no offence.
Linux? Well, I like the terminal, I can find my way around with it. I'm typing this with my Ubuntu Jaunty, with KDE
I'm more than comfortable with Linux.
Edit: Oh yeah, do Local Privilege Escalation Exploits count as well?
There is a known Microsoft problem (they acknowledge it, but don't pretend to be working on it) that WinMo 6.5 will not sync with Outlook 2010 64 bit through WMDC.
Does anyone know of a solution or workaround?
Thanks

Use x86 version instead. There is no longer support for WM devices or services.

Thanks a lot for the response.
You helped me on another thread also!
I'm under the impression I would have to change the entire Office Suite to x86 - is that so? I'm nervous to do anything directly to Office because I bought my laptop with it preinstalled and don't know if I can reinstall it if I have a problem.
I was wondering if there is either another program I could sync with. Also perhaps there is something online I could sync with and then sync my outlook to that.
Thanks

I'd check to see if it is installed in the C:\Program Files (x86) folder first. Occasionally it is also installed there as well for compatibility. If not, then You might want to look into other syncing solutions.
