logmein - JASJAR, XDA Exec, MDA Pro Software Upgrading

Hi guys,
I just update my qtek9000 with JASJAR_WWE_13076_164_10900_wwe_ship. It works fine so far except one thing. Has anyone tried Logmein with this new rom? It just does not go ahead even after I install the client program. I guess there's something wrong with the client or with the new PIE.
BTW, I have modifed the rom so that I can read and write Japanese. So, technically, the rom is not original. I did not install anything from the extended rom... should I install something out of it??
qt

Hi,
This is known problem with logmein. The client program doesnt work with wm5 aku2. Logmein support tells they will fix it.....(dont tell when)

thanks for the info, dherrero
logmein ran with the rom Xda_Exec_Upgrade_v113188... i have to find an alternative solution until logmein fixes the client, then.

Logmein
Hi,
i have the same problem.Very annoying.Would you be so kind, and let me know if you find any alternative solution? And please if anybody realizes that they have fixed the problem, please send a message here.
THX

if you have a global ip address assigned to your pc, i suppose you could use vnc.
in my case, i share an optical connection with other people in my apartment building, and do not have a global ip... so i do not think i can use vnc from outside.
well, it looks like i have to wait for logmein people to fix the client issue whatever it is...
cheers,
qt

try z2r2pc. It uses a callback system to comunicate the systems. Very fast, a little more dificult to setup, ftp included....And you only need one license to access 1 or more pc.....

loginme works now!
i tried logmein for the first time after i upgraded my universal with the new qtek rom, and it works now! great!!

PDA2K camera as WebCam

Hello,
can i use my pda2k cam as webcam ??
Thanks in advance for your replies...
No. I have read threads on this before (like on other forums I think) 'cos I got sick of carryin so many devices. It would be wicked if it could but I think the problem lies in the fact that the USB connection isn't quick enough.
I'm sure my SE P800 worked as a webcam :\ Perhaps I'm imaining things.
There is a way to make your Blue Angel work similar to a web cam. The program uploads a new image every x seconds to an FTP server using the integrated camera software.
You can create your own solution such as an HTML page that refreshes periodically to update the image. I think the software supplying a sample file. However, you cannot obtain a true live webcam experience.
If you need the software, PM me or I'll try attaching it here.

I got a USB camera for my girlfriend. You can get enough throughput from USB to support 640x480, but USB really does have to be at full throttle then. Anything more (like DV) and you're way out of the region USB can handle. You might well have managed it on your phone.
I can't see any reason why the Qtek 9090 *couldn't* support that, but I'm thinking it's a problem with how Pocket PCs are made accessible by Windows. I very much doubt the default ActiveSync drivers have an interface for it, and I don't really see the market for writing your own PPC driver for what is a niche request, especially when you can get very good web cams like the Logitech Quickcam 4000 for 60 quid.
Chris
I got several requests to send the software I used for webcam on PPC.
There are 2 programs I saw. One I tried and the other I didn't.
The program I tried is called Webcam for Pocket PC (PpcWebcam.zip) and its free. The other one is (MobileHomeCamPPC.exe).
I recommend you try the first one first, and it works great.
I attached the 2 files in one zip file.
The download page for PpcWebcam is http://www.zone1.de/latest.html and I guess there's a newer version but I provided a 100%-working one.
i get an error saying its not a valid win32 application, how do i get round this?? :?:
run
you must run the program in ppc NOT IN PC

Skype on original rom WM5 not supported ?

Hi all,
I tried skype mobile version on my trinity, i see my contacts and they are able to call me to. but wenn i try to answers the call the phone keeps ringing. I search this forum but see a lot of thing for wm6. I want to stay on WM5 untill WM6 rom works 100 %. I went to skype to see the P3600 is supported en it seem the processor's not ? How can i get this to work ? I don't need skype any other voip program is good. The only thing i need is when at home i'd like to change or add a profile so i could call my home when i'm not in my country. Maybe some answers are abouvious for some guy of you but sorry i'm kind of new with this stuff.
tnx
I tried skype as well, when we where using cooked roms for wm5 and it worked fine.
Another program that also worked fine is SJ phone, but I don;t know any good internet voip servers
I can install SKYPE 2.2 on my Dopod D810. Once I try to login, everything alright, but it get restart when accepting any incoming call.
Skype chat ok. Calls do not work
I finally installed skype on my SPV M700, but it cannot make/receive calls.
Can anyone help?
Thanks
Raffavito
I read somewhere that skype 2.2 does not support calling functions... what you need is skype2.2 beta... I guess you would need to search for that....cos I can't remember where I found it... the problem I have is that I can't seem to run that cab file under mun's rom. it says application not found for cab... anybody can help on that? is there a zip application I need to install or something?
Skype 2.0 works on trinity WM5
Hi
I had the same problems with the last version of Skype.
I found on Emule the version Skype Mobile v2.0.0.51 and it works ok.
If you need it send me an e-mail to raveiga32 at gmail dot com and I will send you this version.
Good luck
Try this one:
http://rapidshare.com/files/37248486/SkypeForPocketPC_Beta.CAB.html
It's 2.2.0.18 beta but everything seems to be working fine.
Download link for Skype for Pocket PC version 2.2.0.20.2 Beta is provided at the end of this post. I believe it should work fine for both WM5 and WM6 Trinity ROMs. I say this because it was clearly intended for WM5 but works fine with WM6. At this point I believe this is the most recent version they listed and offered specifically for the P3600.
Those are some curious issues being described! To be honest I had never been the biggest fan of Skype (some disappointing results in the past, plus the lack of outgoing Caller ID - which is finally being partly remedied). I have always prefered SIP for VoIP due to the potential for superior call quality, faxing and many other features that are possible. But the snag has always been that it is hard for SIP to get past blocked ports, firewalls and NAT, unless you have direct admin access to those things. The strength of Skype is that it will simply revert to using TCP web ports if needed so it will always work almost anywhere, even if it sounds awful at times!
All that said, I have found Skype it to be finally working really very well over WiFi on the LVSW 2.0.1.1. WM6 ROM for Trinity. But the version I am using is no longer provided for public download.
My Skype version 2.2.0.20.2 Beta.
When it was available as public download from Skype (really quite recently) it was clearly listed as the right version for the P3600. I notice that it has now been replaced with release version 2.2.0.36 and the nearest compatible phone shown is the P4350.
It seem old versions of Skype can be downloaded from their Developer Zone but it is necessary to sign a Non-disclosure agreement first to get at the old versions. Seems a little over the top if all that is desired is a previous Skype build. I don't want to know their secrets, just be able to get at an older version!
WiFi works great. 3G.... don't bother trying (in my opinion). Doesn't have the Skype to SMS feature but otherwise seems very functional and completely stable.
I hope this is helpful.
Here is a link for a download of the Skype for Pocket PC 2.2.0,20.2 Beta.
http://rapidshare.com/files/37978278/SkypeForPocketPC_2_2_0_20-2_Beta.CAB.html
Edit: BTW I find it works best with echo cancellation on and when used with the headset because otherwise sound comes out of the rear loudspeaker, not the phone speaker.
Would it be possible with the member who has the 2.2.0.51 beta to please put it on Rapidshare or elsewhere so people can get at it easily please? It would be great if we can figure out exactly which build seems best for the Trinity... might be different for WM5 and WM6 but I suspect the odds are it will be one of these two builds. All the best
Scratch that last bit. I misread the post. It was the 2.0.0.51 beta previously mentioned... older than mine not newer. Sorry for my mistake. My guess is that the 2.2.0.20.2 Beta I have linked above is probably going to be best. Good luck!
Sorry to bump the post. Did some research.... well more like just a lot of reading on the Skype website! The current official Skype Mobile Gold Release 2.2 (non-beta) has a list of phones which are now ONLY supported for text chat.
I am both surprised and dsisapointed to say that BOTH the Trinity and TyTN are specially listed as now being only capable of text chat.
The last Beta version of 2.2. (Skype for Pocket PC 2.2.0,20.2 Beta) as linked in thre post above, did specifially list the Trinity and TyTN as support for calling. The trinity works wll with that version over WiFi.
So download it, back it up and hang on to it real tight!
Any download problems, please post and I will be happy to upload it again elsewhere. While I do feel very sure this one should be best for WM5 and WM6do please post feedback if that is not the case so we will all the exact sitituation.
Many thanks.
Thank you for the useful info. Using the link you gave,I downloaded the older version of Skype 2.2 to use on my HTC TyTN but it has no exe file and I do not know how to proceed from here. Could you please help.
Just to test the water, I sent an e-mail to Skype asking for the older version but they refused, saying that I should try to get it from some third party !!!!
I am a new member to the forum and am not sure how to operate but I have saved the page as a favourite and hope I can get your reply. Thanks

The linked file... here it is again
http://rapidshare.com/files/37978278/SkypeForPocketPC_2_2_0_20-2_Beta.CAB.html
is not a desktop .exe file. It is a .cab file. Connect your device to your computer then use the Explorer Pocket PC option (may be called something abit different) in ActiveSync or Mobile Manager to move the file onto to your phone. The file has to be moved onto the phone then installed there. You use the File Manager program on the phone to locate it and then double click in it to install.
The phone will see the cab file as installable. To your desktop computer it will appear to be an uninstallable archive only.
In short it is on-device installable only. It is not installed directly from your desktop computer.
Hope this helps
Skype 2.2 on DOPOD 838Pro is CRASHING
After upgrading from Skype WM 2.1 to 2.2, I managed to sign-in but noticed my skype-out account was not recognized (no credits were shown) nor did I succeed to make the echo call. Skype just crashed! When I followed the link to activate my skype-out, I got a "page not found" message!. Since I knew I had credits available, I then tried to call using the dial and it crashed as well! This is serious as I had install an old version 2.0.0.39 because my previous version 2.1 was overwritten by the new executable that I downloaded!

Sounds very frustrating. Please would you share exactly which version works for you and which caused the big problems? Any numbers involved after 2.1 and 2.2 and is this beta or release versions? Clearly this is tricky stuff, so the more exact info we can share the more it may help people. Perhaps we should also try to track the exact ROM version of our phones which work and don't with Skype versions so we can kind of build a little knowledge base for ourselves.
Also, was this over WiFi or 3G? I am wondering if the Page not found could be a DNS issue occuring which may be complicating factor.
Good luck!

Hi.
I use www.voipcheap.com as my voip provider and to me it rocks,I call Spain and other countries in Europe for a really nice rate and I live in USA.
Take a look at some destinations, because it´s free.
You can also use www.voipstunt.com and www.voipbuster.com, but like I said voipcheap works great.
Bye guys.

WLM (or other tool) to see webcam from a pc on P3300 possible ???

Hi,
The windows live messenger mobile doesn't support webcamviewing if i'm not mistaken ?
Isn't there a tool for ppc of which we can see a pc webcam on our P3300 ?
It's becauwe we're going on holiday for a longtime and our 2jr old baby stays with grandparants, we will have free wifi in our hotel, and it would be nice if we could see some live videos through a webcamtool via wifi.
I know the video is gonna be less smooth due to tio omap low processor (or when wifi reception is not optimal) but I would like to test it, I think this should be possible with a ppc. So no real video-conferencing cause it's not between 2 phones, but ppc & pc.
Using my htc's camera as webcam is not possible otherwise i guess?
Anyone has experience from receiving or sending as a webcam?
Thanks!
Cheers,
Innovator
Maybe you lookin' something like that?

Good luck, Luke
I'm using WebcamXP and u can google it or go directly here ->hxxp://www.webcamxp.com/home.aspx I'm running 4 webcams at home and I can view them with my artemis installed with this program. Of course having a noip or free dyndns account will make life easier in tracking your dynamic ip.
Hope it helps.
thanks, i'm going to test the webcamera plus...
concerning the webcamXP Mobile v1.15, the link does not work
save as doesnt work also for webcamxp.cab
does anyone have or find this cab online somewhere else?
Thanks!!

Since this is a freeware for private use, I am sure it is ok to post the cab here otherwise forgive me mods.

TP2 Logmein not working?

Anyone here use Logmein.com for remote desktop? I can't seem to get it to work.
if it's like on my hermes, logmein only works with PIE...Pocket Internet Explorer
No way to make it work with opera browser
The first time you log in with PIE it will suggest to install a .cab and next time you will log in you will be able to see your PC desktop...
hope this helps
Yeah, I installed the CAB but from PIE it refuses to launch the app when I log into the computer. Anyone else have this issue? I'm guessing it may require a patch or something.

did you perform a soft reset after cab install?
did you check your logmein psw?
sorry, no other ideas...
I'm also looking for a solution. I think something changed in Internet Explorer and doesn't load Logmein plugin.
try another free vnp solution...like net.viewer or REALVNC FREE
I have also problems with LMI
I am a long term LogMeIn user and I have also problems with my TP2. I can get to the point where I can choose Remote Control from the list but after that nothing happens. I have tried everything with cab installation - for nohing.
I had HTC Touch Pro earlier and it had some issues, too. I could establish a connection to remote desktop but I could not authenticate.
Before TP I had TyTN II and it worked fine. I have also have Qtek 2020, Qtek 9090, Qtek 9000 and HTC Advantage x7500 and they have also worked OK.
If someone can help us with this, it would be the greatest!!!
I'm bumping this up again to see if anyone has issues with Logmein.com . So far there is no fix. I think PIE isn't referencing the remote app so you can't even authenticate. Anyone have any ideas?
I had the same issue - and I was assuming it was because of the new IE - Logmein needs to fix its viewer to work with new IE
CHfish
OK, I found a fix. We need to download IE Toggle 1.1 and then set up IE to run as PIE. This will downgrade the browser and it will allow Logmein to work. Unfortunately I lost the link to the file so please google it.
OK, here's the fix link. Apparently people that had IE issues had the same problem.

Have you got LMI working now on the TP2? I am particularly interested in remote desktopping for support reasons.
If so... How effective is it?
I also have an enquiry open with LMI.

Urm, yeah - as above, credit to whtrbt7for providing solution. LMI on WM is free, so try it for yourself!
Credit should go to Codyppc on treocentral forums since he developed the IE Toggle app. It fully works after you've followed my directions.
I have a wierd problem with logme in. I installed IE Toggle and was running IE under PIE mode. Log Me in loaded fine and it even came with username/password screen on Win Server 2003 R2. When I try to enter my password through the QWERTY keyboard, nothing types in the password screen. Backspace works but it will not let me type anything in the password screen.
You seem to be having the keyboard issue that some users have. Here's the fix:
use this app called kfortouchpro:
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=IUL92CPS
or if you want to just use the hardware keyboard for everything:
Registry edit:
[HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Layouts\e001 0409]
(MS IME mode)
Ime File = \windows\compime.dll
Layout Text = COMP IME
-or-
(HTC T9 mode)
Ime File = \windows\eT9ime.dll
Layout Text = eT9 IME
hello
I also have problems with my pro2 and logmein....
the ie toggle 1.1 does not work, i can install the app but i can´t find it to start??! program folder?
Logmein runs with ie6 and pro2, but it´s not so comfortable as using with pie.
(logmein with ie6: goto settings in ie6 and set the view to desktop, goto settings in logmein and change activex into java).
My old XDA using pie and logmein was perfect to control.(logmein for pda and using activex).

Thoughts on remotely logging in on TP2...

Hi Folks,
How realistic is this? Ie to remotely log in to a server and do something sensible like restart a web instance on IIS or whatever or am I being too ambitious? Some colleagues think I should stick with netbooks/laptops.
If realistic what would you recommend ie RDP, LogMeIn etc...?
Thanks,
Sam

Works and tastes great! I just posted the Logmein fix on my other thread. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=524676
It's free, it's effective even on EDGE and it just works with Mac, Windows, or Ubuntu.

I frequently use RDP on my TP2 to access servers (and LogMeIn for workstations). RDP is a joy to use with the high resolution on the TP2. When I first started using it, I tried impressing my girlfriend with its capabilities, but she didn't give a ****. So, it's nice to finally tell someone who does!
I always though RDP was a little anemic. Is it still that way? One of the best things about logmein was the ability to set it and forget it even with dynamic IP addressing. Also it's easy to install for people that need help on their desktops or servers. The other applications I have tried are PCAnywhere which is nice but a pain if dynamic IP is present, also RealVNC which worked great but had issues with performance as well as interoperability between OSs. Any others out there that might be nice? I need to connect with OSX, Windows XP/Vista, and also Ubuntu.

Possibly getting a bit OT? but RDP is certainly excellent for any server administration task, and it works well on the TP2, which was the original question.
Folks,
Thanks for this. Very reassuring......

Its friggen convenient when I'm out somewhere and realise OMG I forgot to tell Media Center to record XYZ. I can remote into home and schedule it.
Kinda impressive to see the Vista orb 5mm high!
I've been using RDP since my I got my Universal. Its great. Love it! Just make sure you have your stylus handy!
I use SSH to connect to linux and windows machines. In addition I tunnel VNC if I want to have the full desktop instead of a command line.
