Hi,
Before I upgraded my Himalaya (Qtek) from v1.66 to v2.06, I made a backup of my Rom to an SD card.
Now I'd like to copy that backup to my harddisk because i'd like to use my 256mb sdcard again.
I tried doing it with ntrw.exe, it gives me a 256mb nb1 file, but at the end there is an error.
When I try to open the file with er2003, it asks for a password.
Any idea what I should do?
Thanx!
this image of rom on sd card includes only the rom stuff or aswell as stuff in the ram>????
thanks
I made a backup of the 3 roms, WM2003, Radio and Extended Rom.
But I don't know how it's written on the card, 1 big file or 3 separate ones.

Hi, I just wanted to know which order I should install ROMs and Radios in. I want to install the latest radio because I have heard it can improve reception/increase battery life and I am going to finish installing MoDaCo 3.0 when I know which one to do first.
Also when partitioning an SD card using the AR Recovery loader (sorry if thats not what its called) do I have to change any values or are the default ones suitable. The reason I ask is that I bought a 4gb Class 6 card and want to use that instead.
Many thanks

When I had a Windows Mobile Phone, I flashed the Radio first, and then the ROM. You would maybe have to look if it's described anything about the ROM and which Radio, I don't think it's any problem. Find also the best Radio for your area, I once flashed a US radio and got the worst signals ever.
And if your flashing the MoDaCo 3.0 I would partitioned the SD card after the default settings, but you loose 1gb then. And you loose all data, so therefor do a Flash of the ROM afterwards.

OK well I've flashed the radio already. Now I'm going to put the MoDaCo ROM on my new SD card. Once I've done that I will Flash the ROM onto the phone.
Once this is done I will boot into recovery and partition the SD card. This I assume will wipe the SD card and if I follow the defaults (32MB, 512MB, Rest in Fat32) then I should have an OK setup?
I assume the values I have listed are the best values for partitioning but I don't know.
Also, what do you mean about losing 1gb?
Thanks

Sorry I ment 500mb ish, From the total size of the sdcard, since 544mb goes to ext and 1,4gb is left for FAT32.

I tried to flash a custom 2.2 ROM yesterday onto my unlocked, unbranded and rooted Desire yesterday but it failed and the SDcard seem not to be receiving files downloaded, either images or applications. Then I flashed the original 2.1 ROM back to restore the Device but the SDcard still displays 3.66GB as total space and available space even when I download music, pictures and apps. What can I do to restore the SDcard to the way it used to respond to downloads?it seems to be installing onto Phone's memory instead
did you wipe before 2.2 ? and then before restoring 2.1 ?
yes,i think i must have done that.was that a big mistake?
OMG, do you have any idea what were you doing?
You opened like 10 same threads, but you don't tell us anything, which rom, A2SD or not, Froyo app2sd or not, ext partition or not, exact procedure that you used...
What's wrong with 3,66 GB on sd card, that's usual amount of space for 4 gig sd cards... Do you have some sort of error with sd (cannot be mounted, mounted as read only...)? YOU NEED TO BE MORE SPECIFIC.
flashing does not take up space on the SD Card. The only time this is different is when you are trying to update the phone manually by copying the update files to the SD. If you set the phone to be usable as a disk drive when connected and then copy a file to it I think you will find the free space of the SD Card alters. You can't copy directly to the phone memory from windows so I very much doubt you are doing anything wrong. I think you simply misunderstand the situation.

Yes,you're right.I got confused when the ROM flash went wrong,i thought the unfortunate action corrupted the sdcard but having restored the original 2.1 ROM,everything was back to the way it was though some files got erased.Luckily for me,i did a backup of the entire sdcard onto my PC before carrying out the custom 2.2 update. So,all i did was copy back the lost files and everything became ok.Thanks for everyone's assistance/explanations.BTW,got the official HTC froyo Over The Air update earlier, installed it and wholla!!!,it worked like a charm and it's still looks stable.
I am having a strange problem when I try to flash a rom. When I boot into recovery and choose file from SD card it is showing a listing of files that do not correspond to what is on the SD card, they are an old listing of files.
If I take out the SD card and go in it correctly shows no files. I have done a complete format of the SD card and put the ROM on and I can see it fine in Windows but when i reboot the old files are listed....Also I can see the correct ROM ok within the phone when using ROM Manager but then it reboots into recovery and then can't find the file!!
It must be some issue with the SD card any idea how i can fix it?

Have you rooted you phone eg. with unrevoked 3...?
Yes I have, everything has been working great until now.
I can still use everything in the phone and apps2sd+ is working. Astro file manager lists files on sd card.
but in recovery there are old folders and an old rom that i flashed a while ago.
WTF
i think flash orginal again...maybe from provider´s site (on my o2 site is a original) or from xda devs rom´s thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=695667
and start from zero:
unrevoke again....change radio...change rom...
with kind regards...Alex
edit: if you don´t have it...make a ext3 with rom manager
recreated the partitions in linux and everything is ok now...strange
Hi, newbie in Android,
I want to upgrade my original SD to a 32 GB one in my HTC Desire HD.
Can I just copy the old one in Windows 7 en place it on the new one?
(I flashed rom Android Revolution HD that uses Ext4, maybe I have to use a tool that makes a copy of "special" partions?)
Thanks in advance Guys, I already learned much from this forum.
you may want to but it isn't necessary, if the SD card isn't formatted put it in your phone and go settings, storage, format SD card, let it do its job, then take it out put it in your PC and copy all the files from old card to your new one

Android Revolution HD has nothing to do with your SD Card.
When you copy the file from one SD Card to another, it does not have any Rom files on it, other then if you made backUp of you Rom.
Your SD CARD is formatted with a [M$] Fat file system, unless You have formatted the SD Card another file system
Take Care

I believe this is referring to the internal partitions for ROM, Kernel etc. You don't need to do anything different to your card.
Personally I'd just format the whole thing as FAT32 as one big partition.
BUT...
If you want to use apps2sd (unless you got a class 10 card and more than 750MB worth of apps I really wouldn't bother) then you will need to partition the card.
31GB (what ever is left if you subtract 1024MB from the available) as FAT32
1GB (or whatever you want but more would be excessive) as ext4
Then, simply copy across all the files (make sure you show hidden files) from the old card (can leave it in the phone) to the FAT32 partition on the new.
Hi there.
Would like to confirm if i would wish to have an EX4 in my SD as I am not very sure after reading several threads.
1) Firstly, I back-up my files
2) Partition my SD using ROM Manager (3.0.2.6 or higher)
3) Then placed my back-up files into the SD
4) Flash ROMs
Is it like it?
THanks. =)
