OK I've had my XDAIIs now for two months and I think it must be a faulty
one:
1. My Keyboard isn't loose
2. The phone works perfectly, it hasn't dropped or missed any calls and everyone can hear me fine
3. It never locks up
4. Battery life seems OK, 2-3 days which I can live with
5. Wi-Fi and Bluetooth signal strength seem fine
6. Activesync works perfectly over Wi-Fi, IR and USB
admittedly I've junked all the O2 stuff, but what's going on............?!?!
Wow! thats the best news I've heard so far.
Same here but with the caveat that I've never synched over IR and I had my first total lockup since November on Sunday - I suspect it was my farting about with Sprite.
So far it's been at least as stable as my old symbian based P900 but the synch software actually works!
FWIW, I've had my SX66 for almost 3 months and haven't had any real issues, except for a little static with my Bluetrek G2 headset. Before I downloaded the Siemens update, I had to soft reset occasionally to get WiFi to sync up, but since the update, I haven't reset once.

Hi all,
I bought my SX66 from Cingular two weeks ago and so far I LOVE IT. Bluetooth, WIFI, PDA, phone, and a QWERTY keyboard all in one slick package.
However, as you all know, the bluetooth audio has MAJOR issues. I have upgraded my radio to 1.13.00 and my bluetooth stack to 3900. The volume level of my bluetooth headset has improved, but one thing remains - the HORRIBLE snap, crackle and pop (noticeable on both ends of the phone call).
Because the radio ROM and bluetooth stack updates have not helped, I am beginning to fear that the problem is a hardware design flaw. However, I'm hoping that some bluetooth headsets may compensate for this better than others.
I have read through all the forums but have yet to come accross a consensus for the best bluetooth headset (the one that has the least crackle and pop interference).
So here's the question - has ANYONE used a bluetooth headset with the Blue Angel that does NOT suffer from the audio problems described above? I would love to settle this once and for all.
I hate to have to spend money on a new bluetooth headset when my Motorola HS820 has worked fine in the past with other phones. However, it would be even more of a shame to turn my SX66 into a glorified $500 PDA and go back to using my Motorola V600 for phone calls.
Thanks in advance for any advice. Also - I am a new member of the XDA Developers forums and I want to say that they have been INVALUABLE to me. The SX66 users manual from Siemens is nothing more than an overview of the Pocket PC 2003 OS. These forums (and the wiki pages) tell me how the SX66 REALLY works.
Cheers,
Warwick
Bad news. I tried with 4 diferents blouthoot head set with the same problems (including the new jabra BT800). I use a cable headset and if I need my hands free I use my Sony Ericson phone.
So from now their is no good option to solve this problem.
FYI - I sent the following e-mail to Siemens customer support, just to see what they'd say:
"I recently bought an SX66 Pocket PC Phone from Cingular.
Everything works great, with one exception - the audio quality on my
bluetooth headset is TERRIBLE. Specifically, there is non-stap crackling
and popping. According to a web site devoted to SX66-like devices
(www.xda-developers.com) there is no known fix for this issue, and it is
a problem with the bluetooth antenna itself. Is this true? If so, the
product is defective and I will be returning it to Cingular for a full
refund. While it is a great device, it is useless to me if I can't use a
wireless headset to talk on the phone. P.S. I have already installed the
latest driver updates on the Siemens Web site."
Their response:
"Dear Mr. Webb,
Thank you for contacting Siemens Customer Care. I would like to thank you
for your trust and support by inquiring about the SX66. I will be glad to
assist you.
I understand that you are having problems with static while using a
Bluetooth headset.
Please understand that there are no settings on the phone that will improve
the function on the Bluetooth on the phone. It either works or it doesn't.
I would recommend trying to pair up another headset to see if the problem is
with the headset or the phone. If another headset gives you the same
problem the phone may be defective. Before taking it in for repair, you
will want to first try a hard reset on the phone. A full device reset
clears memory, deletes all data and restores the SX66 to its default
settings. Programs installed at the factory remain, erasing all data that
you have created and programs you have installed. To full reset the SX66,
press and hold the power button, and then use the stylus to press the soft
reset button at the same time.
**NOTE** Be sure you have backed up all your data in a SD card or on your PC
before performing a full reset!
If this does not resolve your issue and your phone is less than a year old,
then it can be repaired by Cingular. Please take your SX66 to your local
Cingular store for a warranty exchange or repair.
I hope this has brought resolution to your issue and that I was able to be
of assistance. Your case number is XXXXX. If you need further assistance,
please reply to this e-mail. If you reply, please ensure that your reply
contains a copy of this e-mail.

Thank you for choosing Siemens; have a nice day.

It either works or it doesn't. GREEEEAAAAAT.
My HS810 set has worked great with limitations. The phone has to be in close proximity to the headset. I have static issues when I have the phone hooked to my belt and am walking briskly. But as far as using the headset in my car with the phone sitting on the passenger seat it is great. I bought a secong set of HS810's and had the same good results.
HBH-300
I'm using the HBH-300 with very little static. The headset has noise-cancellation features which seems to help a lot... according to the folks on the other end of the conversation. Like the previous poster, the SX66 has to be in line of sight to the headset, otherwise I experience static. So for instance, if I carry the PDA in my left hand w/ headset in right ear, I need to make sure my body doesn't block the "line of sight". When the SX66 is on the desk, I have no problems, again as long as I don't block the line of sight.
Shouldn't be this way, but it solves most my problems.... I'm using Radio 1.13 and still 1.40.
Hello,
I've had the Nokia CK-1W Bluetooth hands free kit in my car for a while. I started out with a Nokia 6310i so it seemed the perfect choice when I got it.
Last year I joined the HTC revolution. I got a Wizard and this worked fine with the kit. I'm not a heavy user as I don't drive as part of my work, but didn't encounter any issues the times I did use it.
I lost my Wizard on a train and got the Hermes as a replacement (thanks household contents insurance). Connected it up to the kit in the car and once again I didn't have any trouble. I have only had it a few weeks so the device wasn't really setup, I didn't have voice tags or anything, but I was receiving calls OK and could make calls from the device.
So I took the plunge on Sunday and updated my O2 Hermes to the WM6 Rom from O2. I was really quite pleased with it, seems to be more responsive and generally a pretty good upgrade.
I didn't expect to have any issues with the car kit. Silly me. Connected up fine. When I pressed the button to invoke the voice tags, I didn't hear anything out of the speakers. This was a bit strange as before you would hear either the "Peep peep" noise to tell you to speak or the "You don't have any voice tags set, idiot" noise that you get otherwise. I didn't think much of it. Yesterday it got it's baptism of fire. My friend called me, I hit the button to answer and heard.....silence. The kit was connected, the call was answered and I could hear bugger all. Most amusingly my friend could hear me perfectly and started having a conversation with me until I pointed out that I couldn't hear anything.
So has anyone got any ideas? I am guessing that something has changed in the BT stack between WM5 and WM6 but any ideas what? I know a lot of people have written a lot of threads regarding BT car kit issues but I hadn't seen one quite like this.
Any help would be really appreciated!
Cheers
Ian
School boy error
It seems that it wasn't anything to do with the phone at all.
Coincidence struck and it just happened that the day after I flashed my phone, a wire came loose connecting the hands free kit to the stereo!
I worked this out when I tried my old Nokia on it just to make sure it was a problem with the phone. When I couldn't hear anything on that I knew there was a problem elsewhere!
After I took out the stereo and replugged everything back together it all worked fine again.
Sorry about that!
So I've had my dash for about a year now. For the longest time, wifi worked just fine. I only use it while I'm in europe. I was home in the states for the summer and sent it off to have the screen repaired, got back to europe a little over a week ago, and have yet to get wifi to work like it did.
Some things I've tried- power mode to best performance, taking out the battery, restarting.
Some more advanced things I just tried- Installed the 3volution winmo 6.5 series rom I found on this website yesterday. Still when wifi is clicked on, it does not scan and I only see "unavailable." Does this mean it is a hardware error for sure (did they break something when the screen was being repaired?)
Anyone able to think of a fix?
Also the 3volution rom is awesome, thanks very much!
this is a old thread but i've had the same problem with you, wifi always "unavailable". so can every one help us or have solution for this problem??
I've got two identical Windows Mobile phones (Verizon XV 6800). One connects to our WiFi just fine, the other always reports "Unavailable". The settings are identical. Would love to have this mystery resolved.
maybe its an internal prob...
Do you still have the same IMEI on your device? Maybe they swapped boards in the repair center and you now have a board without WLAN (T-Mobile MDA Mail in Germany is such a board).
Hello,
First of all I read most of the posts and topics regarding various One X wi-fi issues, but I wish to describe what I encountered and tried to do to solve the issue.
First of all, I had an old router at home that has successfully handled several laptops and mobile phones so far.
Came home happily with my new toy, alowed to fully charge before trying anything, etc, etc.
I ran the setup fine, hooked up with my WiFi network fine, started downloading and installing my apps from the Market. Suddenly my HOX switched to mobile data. I initially said to myself, I must have copied or installed something that messed up the setting so I did a factory reset but unfortunately the pattern repeated itself half an hour later.
So I disabled mobile data and tried to reconnect. Did so using every concieveble method tried suggested here, the only way it was solved was by resetting the router. Of course, within five minutes it happened again, and again....
Pissed off and got myself a new router. After connecting everything seemed fine for the first half an hour then the problem occurred again.
Reseting the router always helps. I wonder if it is something that has to do with the built-in browser (so software) rather than what hamdir suggested as being a hardware defect. I will try Chrome tonight at home and see how it goes.
In the meantime I would appreciate any input coming from those who experienced similar behavior. I would hate to return the phone as it seemed not to have any other physical issues (except a hint of a yellow spot in the upper left corner).
Thank you,
Sent from my HTC One X using XDA

Hello, got a replacement today. After propely charging and a quick setup, connected flawlessly to an unprotected network in a restaurant, then had a friend create a WPA2 hotspot on his Galaxy Note and worked again, and finally, back home, now only disconnects when signal is weak but most important can pick up the connection again by just turning wi-fi on and off. No more need to reset the router. Taking into consideration that with both phones i came from factory settings and had the same router configuration it just couldn't just be the router.
With the first phone i couldn't even connect to free unencryped networks! so there must have been a software bug or a hardware issue.
I'm sorry i did not keep the SN of my first device but it definitely the same batch as my replacement (just the last 2 or three numbers are diferent)
Oh, and the routers... one was an old and faithfull Dlink 524 (that handled three other Htc devices out of the box, while the second is a brand new TP-Link WR741 series. Now i reencrypted the connection with the WEP protocol and everything seems fine, no dropouts.
As there a few people that have this strange issue, the best way to check is to try as many hotspots, encriped or not and see whether it is a prolblem with their own router or something else. Always remember that a factory reset may be needed - do not take it for granted that the phone is at fault.
Good luck!

For myself it works fine on one router, but has the same constant disconnects (and failed reconnects) you described on a D-link (DWL-G700AP)
Could it be related to D-link router/accesspoints?
Sounds like I have similar issues.
I find that signal strength gradually becomes weaker and leads to dropped connections. I never lose all the wifi connection it always remains with at least one bar, 20% or -85dBm to -90dBm.
I find this in strong and weaker signal strength areas, ie all over my house.
eg. In the same room the wifi router is in signal strength is on all bars. After 10 mins of watching iplayer the signal strength drops to one
bar (the dot) and the stream buffers.
If I move the device, literally wave it around the signal strength will get better and the process starts again.
Other devices, iPod touches, laptop and my wife's Desire aren't affected at all. Signal strength on these remains the same, they have never had a problem. I don't have the latest router but it hasn't skipped a beat in the 5 years I have had it
I have restarted the router changed encryption type, even turned the power up to 100%, I only needed it at 75% before but now with the one x it
seems to require a stronger signal to keep a consistent connection. Also tried setting 'best wi-fi performance' to on and setting a static IP but this hasn't helped.
Having said all this I have noticed that the one x does seem to pick up weaker signals than the desire did.
All very frustrating this is the 2nd device I have. I had to return one device due to a yellow stain in the bottom left corner of the screen.
I don't want to return this one since I feel this is a software issue, but one never knows. I have contacted HTC support and will update with what they say.
Unbranded One X on o2.
Software number: 1.28.401.9, the latest OTA update.
Router: Buffalo WHR HP 54G
did you try to disable wireless N and run it on wireless G only? see if there's any impact (this fixed the dropouts for me on my home network)
I don't have a wireless N router but I did try changing all settings available, nothing seems to make a difference.
HTC got back to me and said they didn't know of any wifi issues.

I returned my first HOX on Saturday, and I am glad I did. This one connects flawlessly where the other one had the described issues. Taking into account I am using the same settings as before on both router and phone, Leeds me to believe that there might be a hardware fault. Based therefore on personal experience I would advise that you get an exchange if that is still possible - and have a good vissual check (screen spots, screen fitting, creaks, ...) before you pick your device.
My second handset, despite being of seemingly the same batch, looks and behaves perfectly so far - I am so pleased with it. What I can say, having used this phone - hTC design = great; hTC Quality Control = crap
Sent from my HTC One X using XDA
I contacted HTC and registered a case with their support they said they were escalating it and would get back to me in 5 to 10 days.
However since I was still within the UK's 28 day exchange period I decided to take my HOX back for an exchange. Glad I did because the latest one has no wifi issues .
To summarise my issue: When using wifi and streaming content, eg. iplayer or tune in radio, connection would drop after 10 mins to 1 hour. Sometimes it would drop and go to network or just remain at 1 bar. I had no issues connecting to routers but I experienced the same issue on all routers I tried ie g or n.
The signal would also be on full strength one minute and then drop to 1 bar the next. I always had never sleep and best performance enabled.
I also found that pressing the back of the HOX (viewing from the rear, approx 1cm south east of the camera) would bring the signal up to full strength.
From this I deduced that the issue was a faulty connection to the wifi antennae. The behaviour I noticed possibly occurred when the components heated up and expanded which in turn moved a loose connection.
This is now my 3rd device in as many weeks, which is poor for their flagship device. 1st unit had a yellow spot in the bottom left corner, 2nd faulty wifi. 3rd so far so good.
In HTC's defence I could always get through to an operator and each one advised to return to the retailer or they would send a next day courier to pick up and repair. At least I have that security for 2 years.
Now I will enjoy the HOX, I have driven my wife mad for the past 3 weeks.
So after using the NOTE4 for 6 months and the latest lollipop updates just completely ruining my Smartphone experience, I started searching for my next phone. Fastest I've started looking for another phone on any smartphone I've owned.
Not wanting to dish out another $600 immediately, I took my NOTE4 to ATT repair center and after two trips, had my device replaced.
and I must say.. the new NOTE4 seems faster, has ZERO gps issues (locks in under 2 seconds). Car tracks smooth under Google Maps instead of jumping and getting stuck. And placed that I use to get really bad download speeds are now much better.
If you have issues with update and been having problem with GPS.. go get your phone swapped.
Several on this site have swapped our device multiple times over GPS issues and had just as bad a problem with the new one.
i'm thinking to do the same thing. Were they aware of this issue or they were surprised to hear that? What tests did they run to confirm you had malfunctioning device? Did you get temporary replacement for time your phone was in shop?
Guess this happens randomly, cause i have my Note 4 since it first came out and upgraded to Lollipop ? and have 0 issues.
Running On New Deadly Venom Note 4 v3.0
First time i went in they said they'll "FACTORY FLASH" the device to the latest Lollipop update. said sometimes the update over the air gets all messed up. so I let them.. tried it for 2 weeks only to see that it was behaving the exact same.
I use GPS all the time for work and the problem I had was when I would stop at the light, the GPS position would be stuck for 30sec to a min after I left that intersection. Made the GPS useless.
So I just went in.. same complaint.. they had log of what they did before.. and just said "we'll give you a replacement device."
I had them flash it to latest lollipop firmware and I haven't had issue since. Granted.. It's not as good as 4.4.4 GPS.. but it's workable.
and I'm only out of $8 bucks for the glass screen protector.
I may ODIN it back to 4.4.4 to test the temp root, but at least i know that my phone is good with 5.1.
Venom.. I got the NOTE4 on week of of release.. possible that mine was a earlier hardware with issues? can't be sure.. but I'm happy again with my NOTE4.
Waze GPS lost when static
Hello all,
My problem is that my GPS signal gets lost when I am stopped at a traffic light...
Has anyone else got this problem?
I have a release day Note 4 as well. My GPS sometimes loses signal when nothing is blocking it such as trees, tunnels, etc.
