normally it means it's charging...
ORANGE light means charging.
RED light normally means battery is almost dead.
Try removing the battery overnight, then replace and charge. If this doesnt work maybe you could try it in another phone just to see if it is dead.
It happened to me too the first time I got it. Actually the red light means either the battery is completely dead, or you haven't put it all the way in correctly. In my case, after putting in the battery, I had to press it at the bottom, and then push the latch all the way up, otherwise i would keep getting the red light.
There is another reason, AFAIK: it's when you have a missed-call or unread message.
Red light
Hi all,
i've got the same problem .. got a red light but the battery is fully charged..
h4x0r: your solution did not work form me ....
does anyone know what could be wrong ????
Ive got the same problem now.
Worked fine all day, than it said that the battery power was low.
So i put it on charge, when i came back, the device was dead and the
red light was on.
Gonna leave the battery out for the night, to see what happens.
Hi, I had the same problem too red light on and it wouldnt respond at all even after putting on charge then about an hour later it came on and hard reset itself!!. Mad! seems ok now though (3 days on)
it has something to do with messages or alarms eventhough no messages are incoming. all you have to do is go to settings, sounds & notifications, select the notifications tab below, and just click ok. that will change the red light immediately to green. there's a bug of some sort here.

i've just updated the ROM on my artemis, after CID unlocking etc. It was working fine, although it seemed to occasionally power off whilst copying files to it via AS. Thinking it was the SD card I removed it, and now it won't turn on. Plugging into power for a few mins gives a red light on the top, but I can't power the thing on.
Anyone want to give me some tips on what I can do to rescue it?
Download this HTC P3300 WWE factory rom here http://rapidshare.com/files/19322112/HTC_1.12.405.01_026790_WWE_SHIP.rar . Now first launch Bootloader (multi color screen) and just run the ROMUpdateUtility.exe from the rar, voila your device unbricked .
Bootloader: Press voice dialing & on/off button at the same time till you see a multi color screen (red/green/blue stripes)

Your mobile is actually turned on but backlight is set to lower so your screen does not appear. It 's a known bug changing backlight by itself. It happened to me too with Β&Β4 when I enable Batery Status tray Icons. And happened again on B&B 4.3 twice with no reason and Thanks God not to lower setting.
You have two options (both painfull).
1. Hard reset.
2. Reflash.
Good Luck
i thick it's easyer than reflash or hard reset, just plus the artemis to a usb or to the charger and your screen bright will be at full bright. Once done that, simply adjust the bright when running with battery at control panel.

I'm presuming that it's not actually related to the flash, until proved otherwise though - no-one else has reported any issues and as it was a 2nd hand but new to me handset it seems more likely it already had a fault. Annoying, though.

my friend had a similar problem with his charmer, although h never cooked it.
if you are in london, go to southall, they will fix it for £20
try plugging in to the charger if the little orange light comes on, its a phone fault, if the little light doesnt come on, your phone is not holding charge, either way can be fixed
Orbit cannot be switched on, and cannot be charged

Hi, I'm having a similar problem as you described. When the charger is plugged into my Orbit, the little light does not come on. Moreover, when try to switch my phone on, it turns on and starts booting. But before it could boot further than the O2 splashscreen, it shuts off. Occassionally, I do succeed in turning it on, which it would turn it itself off at random from a few mins to a few hours after turning the phone on. I'm able to access the red, green, blue screen without any problems, and it can be turned on (ie the phone remains in the red, green blue screen) indefinately untill the battery runs out. I've tried re-flashing with the O2 official WM6 (which i was using for a few months already) which didn't make a difference. I'm able to access the phone through activesync just fine, but it wouldn't charge throughj the USB connection as well. I'm currently charging my battery with my friends Orbit.
Would any guru have any clue on what's going on with my phone? Can it be fixed?
I checked email then I sent a text. A few minutes later, I got a response. I hit REPLY and the screen went white. I don't know why. It's never been dropped or put in water, etc. The phone had been in my pocket all day and was close to a full charge. I couldn't power down so I removed the battery and turned it back on. The phone vibrated as it does when it boots up but the screen remained black. I flipped out the keyboard and it was backlit as usual.
I tried a few times and never got anything going. The screen remained black but the phone got hot. Just now, I noticed the amber light blinking but it went solid when I plugged in the charger. I attempted to power it up once more and called from my landline- goes straight to voicemail, no rings. Hmm. Is my Tilt 2 Dead?
Any advice on how to resurrect my phone? AT&T gave me this refurbished model about 4 months ago (60 day warranty?) to replace the Fuze that died at 13 months (12 month warranty). I just want a phone that can last as long as my contract.
try to put it in bootloader mode.
do this by holding the volume down button and powering on the device (if its already on then volume down button and press the soft reset button on the side of ur device with the stylus). Keep holding the volume down button until the 3 colored screen comes on with text in red.
if you can get it in bootloader than you can save the device
Sometimes mine hangs on startup several times in a row, to fix it, i take out the battery, put it back in, hold down the power button and volume down button till its in bootloader then soft reset with the button on the side of the device and it boots up
if that doesn't work then you may need to hard-reset/flash a new rom (all your data will be erased). If nothing comes on the screen then your screen could be dead.
I charged it all night. When plugged in, the amber light is solid. When unplugged, the light turned off. The phone doesn't power up.
It did not respond to a soft-reset (holding the volume down button and powering on the device) nor a hard-reset (press and hold both the send and end hardkeys).
AT&T is telling me it's dead. Um, I've got a different ROM loaded on this. Can I return it in this state? If they cant resurrect it, it doesn't matter?
Do I need to restore factory settings and, if so, how?
And, Warranty Dept. wants me to buy another one. They gave me this refurbished one four months ago with 90 day warranty. What are my chances here?

If the indicator light never went green, the battery may be at fault. Just a thought.
I have heard of the black screen that comes up and ppl have to soft reset to get anything to work. Never had this problem till lately. My fone was on and plugged in all nite. Never had a prob with the battery, only had this fone 3 months and now all nite and day the screen has been goin black then not waking up at all. I did install Cookies Home Tab and the CTHE Editor last nite along with the newest SRS WOW HD sound.... anyway, put my fone on charge, left it on as I always do, woke up today and had no way up waking it up, and the charge light was still orange. I took off the back and used the reset button on the right to restart it. Unplugged it, then plugged it back in. The light immediately turned green yet when the device powered on and the screen went to black, it would NOT come off the black screen. I checked the settings for the lock screen, nothings on... I am using Energy ROM 6.5 OS 5.2.23569 build 23563.5.5.0 ... awesome ROM and yet Ive never had this prob. Had this ROM for the past 2 weeks without a hitch, installed Cookies Home Tab and the Editor progs and now this. ... any help?
EDIT: Also in the time the screen was blacked I never got a single text, MMS, fone call or email...

OK, now it is clearer. It happened AFTER you installed software. You need to do a hard reset.
Power down the phone. Hold both left and right phone keys (red and green) while you hit the power button. The phone should reset itself back to factory condition. Unfortunately you will lose all data on the phone (the SD card data should be OK). This should fix your problem.
Yeah, its totally dead now except.... when plugged into the charger, I get an amber light. I will stop by a store and try a different battery.
By the way, AT&T Customer Service told me they will not replace my 4 month old phone because it is past the 3 month warranty.

Already done that Steve with no luck. Next step?
If the Tilt 2 is dead, I have to replace it. Any suggestions? I was happy with this model. My big requirement is real keyboard.
if its dead its dead... if you need another just go get another I guess.... Sounds pretty crappy though. I got my phone in December and just got a warranty replacement today. They said my warranty was good till the 1 year point of when the phone was purchased or 90 days after I received the new phone (if it was close to the end of my original warranty) I assume you were out of your original warranty or bought a used phone or something. But yeah... try another battery before diving in to another phone for sure.
Possible fix
Ok, Ive kept lookin for this solution and so far, its worked. On the lock screen, especially with the new custom ROMs, the lockscreen has to be set to "classic". Something about the new Slide to unlock feature is killin the screen to black, and that makes the fone unusable... meaning when the fone goes to black, it will ONLY charge. No fone calls, no texts recieved, no emails, no nothin... calls go straight to voicemail when ppl try to call u. (when u restart the fone u may get ur emails and any MMS messages, but not texts or missed calls) If u have the Cookies Home Tab, like me, it would be labeled "Windows" lock screen that u will need. (From Home screen, click "MENU", then "Cookies Home Tab Editor", then "locksreen Settings", then under Unlock Style, click "Windows". then click "menu" at the bottom of the same screen, then click "apply settings". When u exit, Sense will refresh and ur good to go ... Ill repost in a few days to see if thats it or not.
Also I heard less talk, but some about it being an issue with the SD card. That one said to remove ur SD card, install a new ROM and reformat ur card before installing it back into the device... *(Be sure to transfer all info on card to PC before u format, formatting will erase everything from the SD card)*
I have a Tmobile HTC TP2 flashed with Energy Rom and it had been working fine for several weeks. Today the screen randomly turned off and the red light was on. I couldn't soft reset or anything, but removing the battery and putting it back and powering up worked. However, it only stays on for about a minute before the screen turns black again with the red light coming back on. Anyone know what is going on or how to fix this??

Red light ... do you mean the left hand light? That one is orange on my TP2. Is the unit hot to the touch on the back panel?
Yes the left hand light...after looking at it again it does appear to be orange, not red. The back panel does not feel hot, and when the screen goes black, the orange light appears to flicker a little bit as if there may be some kind of power issue or something (but is mainly solid orange like it is when it's charging), I'm not sure. I don't believe it's a problem with the actual battery, because I've tried using a different battery and have gotten the same results.
Edit: It is now staying on longer maybe a few hours compared to the minute or so it was staying on yesterday, but with the same turning off problems. Except I think it is just the screen that is turning off because if I play with the volume buttons, eventually I can hear the volume up/down sounds.
After searching through some forums, it seems it could be a 'Sleep of Death' problem...
After i unlocked and installed MoKee everything was fine until my phone got out of juice while listening to radio. Now the phone is just unresponsive and when I connect it to the wall charger it just blinks(kinda , it looks like a blink on top of a static red light. hard to tell) red light and does nothing. From time to time it stops for 1-2 secs and starts blinking again.
If I try to open / reset / fastboot the phone stops blinking for half a second and goes back to blinking. I found some topics about this problem in xda and other forums but they were all resolved by disconnecting the battery and letting it cool for sometime.
Well the problem with that is; I dont want to void my warranty by opening up the phone and I dont want the service to find out that I m fully rooted and unlocked (which means another excuse to void the warranty). Is there anyone who solved this problem without opening up the phone? or am I doomed for good.
EDIT: topic heading supposed to be red blinking led but my mind is getting bricked without my phone too
Try to connect phone to charger, and hold both valume down+power at same time. Hold for atleast 10 seconds.
I was given a Note 5 to fix. I do not know the history of the device. If a Android update was attempted or why it is needing to be fixed. It presented with a very dim (almost unreadable, except in completely dark room) screen. I have wiped cache and master reset the device. I can see that the powered off battery icon is center screen all the time and it is solid black. I cannot power it off via the normal power button but I can power it on. I can power it off using the power button + volume down. The touchscreen is responsive and not cracked or broken at all. The back, multi and home buttons react normally to touch and light up. When plugged into power or PC, it does charge and will show a red LED when charging and a green LED when battery is full. The sounds are normal as far as I can tell. I cannot get the screen to change when I swipe or press a center button. I was able to get a picture of a begrizzled man peering closely at the phone trying to figure out what the hell the problem is. So, softwarewise, some of it seems to be working. But, I cannot figure out the dim screen. Like I said earlier, there no cracks or even scratches in either glass, front or back. The bottom portion of the stylus is broken, but I was able to use a tiny phillips head to stick up in the open area and it working. I get a sound and vibration when it is removed and inserted.
Any ideas?

For some reason when the phone detects that the battery is under 5%, it will forcibly dim the screen until it is charged above 5% or plugged in. Maybe the phone thinks that the battery is at or below 5%. Have you tried plugging it into a power source to see if the screen lights up?

Yes, I have plugged it to the wall, I have plugged it to my PC and I have wireless charged it. It seems to charge to full as the red LED turns green.
