Uninstalling O2 Active on the XDAIIs - MDA III, XDA III, PDA2k, 9090 General

How the hell do you do it? - It not compatible with spb pocket plus.
If I attempt to uninstall it throws an error, saying it is running, but there is no process in the task manager to stop.
Help greatly appreciated.
Rich

to stop it from running, i've just deselected it from the today plugins (start / settings / today / items), which seems to have done the trick.

Thanks - but I am trying to get rid of the O2 icon on the top menu bar.
I can move it from left to right but not uninstall it!
Any ideas?

ok here is all you have to do goto the startup folder in windows directory and remove connections from the folder this will not remove active but will stop the anoying o2 icon personally i like the very simple battery indicator and the profiles so i kept it alternativly you can ditch the whole of active by hard reset and use the Coperate option the password is in another thread think if i remember it is 0506
just checked it is that ..

A perfect answer many thanks

Getting rid of O2 Active on XdaIIs

Hi all,
Just received my XDAIIs. Overall impression so far is good. One thing I can't stand though is the O2 Active software. I have never liked it. It was easy to disable this on my XDAII - I just moved the application from the Windows folder into a temp folder and did a soft reset. However on the IIs there is no O2 Active icon in the Windows folder so I'm unsure how I can disable. Any ideas?
Cheers

a good place to look for autostarted programs is \windows\autostart
I don't seem to have a \Windows\Autostart folder but I do have a \Windows\StartUp folder. Is that what you meant? The contents of that folder are:
aPerSaveStar
Camera_Dete...
CheckAutoRun
ChgDfLnk
Connections
cPerSaveStar
nPerSaveStar
poutlook
RegNotify
Run_BTTrayC...
STK
tPerSaveStar
I'm not really sure what any of these files does. Can anyone shed any light on this?
Cheers
Carlton
yeah thats was the dir i ment
what i would try was to copy all those files to your pc
and view them in a text editor to see what they point to
and so find out what they are and remove the one which point to that o2 thing
or if the program is installed from the extented rom i would think it would be possible to go to remove programs in system and find it there and then remove it untill your next hardreset (unless you remove it from the extented rom)
another path would be to get a registry editor and search and destroy it's settings
sorry i cant tell you 100% how to do it since i never had the program on my device
maybe somebody else will stumble across this thread knowing how to go about giving it the axe
connections is the link that starts the connections manager app. The o2 symbol in the middle top. Delete that from your startup and it will not start after a soft boot then.
Getting Rid of O2 Active
On first time installation or reistallation of the XDA -
Choose Corporate -
On the code wanted type in 0506 -
That should give you the Windows Pocket PC look back ...
Cheers

no, tried that already. It's still starting. Is there a run section in the registry just like a dektop windows?
Looks like i got rid of it now. I removed the o2active shortcut from the windows startupscreen as well as removing "connections" in the windows/startup folder and rebooted for the second time.
I can actually keep the o2 battery indicator if i like. It doest seem to do any harm...yet.
Did I miss something here, why not just uninstall O2 active from the "remove programs" icon under settings (the program name is something along the lines of o2active_UI). It won't reappear after a soft reset then but will after a hard one.
It fails during unistall because of active files but yeah that should be possible if you manage to close all the active components first. But then you lose the battery plugin as well.
There are better battery plugins out there....
And fro my experience you could unisntall o2 active on an xda II while it was running, with a couple of folders being left over as a result... but with o2 active gone all the same...
thanks for the corporate code saks, just what I was after!
Anybody know which unlucky corporate client got their 0506 code leaked onto the web?

Uninstalling MS Voice Command

Does anyone know how to uninstall this? When i try to do it on the phone or over Activesync I get a warning message that it could not remove all of the program and ultimately the entire program is still installed. It takes up too much room for what it does (and I think there's a battery issue with it as well) Thanks

Try using the Uninstall application of this program: http://www.dinarsoft.com/memmaid/ Once the program is uninstalled, just delete the remaining folders and then run the Quick Clean and that should remove all remnants of the Uninstalled program.
Thanks. It helped to remove mobitv and xmradio which were entirely useless to me and took up a lot of room. However, when I tried to uninstall memmaid it left a few bits behind - there are folders remaining in the program directory... in fact the MobiTv icon still exists in my program directory leading me to beleive that it's just deleting a folder and not removing the program from my reigstry, etc. It's a start though. Thanks again
Re: uninstall
This may be a silly question, but was VC cooked into the rom originally or did you install it yourself? If it was cooked in you will not be able to remove it. (As is true for any cooked in application.)
Best wishes,

Quick question; when using MemMaid, did you use the Quick Clean with all items checked? by default not all are checked.
Dead shortcuts
Dead Registry
Bad uninstall (files)
Bad Uninstall (Registry)
These are just a few items I would make sure are checked..
Thanks for the help guys. It was not part of a cooked rom and after checking the boxes on memmaid and rebooting a few times VC is gone (and 5 megs are free). After uninstalling memmaid (it's 900k - I can't keep that around ) it just left an empty folder called "Handyswitch actions" that I'm just going to manually delete. Thanks for the help. I was this close to deciding between keeping Skyfire and outlook

Sorry, during install of MemMaid you could of unchecked the handyswitcher and whatever extras you didn't need and they wouldn't have installed. Glad to see you has some success though.

You can't install MS VC to storage card and have it work correctly unfortunatly.
I've had same issue whilst installing MSVC to storage card and had tp install it to phone. I also had same problem trying to uninstall it. Luckily I wanted to upgrad my ROM which solved the problem
As I've been using my phone I learned there's a new glitch - if I use autocomplete to fill in text or complete an email address, etc it crashes my phone (I think pasting text does too). This didn't happen a day ago so I think there's a connection to the uninstallation of VC. I've reset it 5 times and it's always the same result. The screen becomes nonresponsive, switching to landscape mode takes about 45 seconds and doesn't solve anything and both the onscreen keyboard (Happy Tapping) and the hard keyboard fail to function. If I wait it out I can get the start menu to drop down and get to the Today screen but navigation is still brutally slow there and the email sits. I Use o2plus and it shows apps are running but doesn't state them (it's pOutlook that is frozen). Any ideas? I wish PPC had 'last good state' like Windows... thanks again
I have VC on my memory card and have no problem... Dont know why you have though.

More specifically when installing to SC anything bluetooth related doesn't work.

disable replog appRunAfterTimeChange to stop ActiveSync

don't know why the tweaks that worked for my other phones is not working here.
I have WKTasks task manage tabbed to see what's running/easy switcing. Like all WM ppc, I see ActiveSync popup every minute, and I disable it. Using WKTasks to make it invisible is just like sweeping the dirt under the rug, i.e. useless, so with other phones, my solution has always been:
fdcsoft task manager3.1 disable replog appRunAfterTimeChange to stop MSActivSync from popping up.
However, the fdcsoft setting is having NO effect in my US TMO TP2. Is there another program I need to install to make these tweaks stick?
I asked the same question in another post re: can't disable aGPS. schaps's adv config 3.3 settings are not sticking either, so I'm missing something obvious here, I just can't find it.
look @ this > http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=4246210&postcount=217
i found no other way to disable repllog.exe(acitvesync)
greetz
^ Thanks, yes, that is a solution and I'd come across your post in my search, but didn't use it because of:
there are 3 repllog.exe in Notifications. Two of them are actually useful, like having ActiveSync wake up when usb/serial cable detected, or when manually pressed. The 3rd one "appRunAfterTimeChange" is the MSexchange one I can't disable, which was easy to do in my other devices, Herald/Kaiser/TP1. But with the TP2, the changes are not sticking, and the rom overwrites the changes as soon as the screen blanks.
I know I'm missing some kind of application unlocker or sdkcertificates to make the changes stick, and I don't remember doing anything else in my other phones.
The only way to prevent repllog from popping up again after every n min, is to create a fake activesync connection and set both the schedule (peak and offpeak) to manual. This is on top of removing the time changed notification. I did that and I dun have the repllog popping up all the time. And that bugger drains quite a fair bit of battery.
Thanks all, unlike the other devices, I had to do ALL 3 THINGS to stop ActiveSync from popping up on the TP2:
1. disable repllog.exe appRunAfterTimeChange notification using fdcsoft task manager3.1
2. create a fake ActiveSync server
3. "uncheck" the automatic time zone under Phone Settings.
here's the solution from the Kaiser.

\End Thread
What's wrong with activesync popping up? I never had it pop up while using the phone for no reason only when I connect it to the computer when I need to use it.

How does one go about creating a fake ActiveSync server?
Thanks

Titanium Weather

Hi Everyone,
Just a quick question on restoring titanium weather to my home screen.
I went through the trouble of finding my code etc when i set it up, but then i accidentally hit yes for the "do not display summary page" in the setup options. (This is NFSFAN's latest 6.5 ROM on a Bell HTC TOuch)
Now, I am unable to get it back. What is the easiest way of getting this working agin?
Any help is greatly appreciated
QUick addition
I also should have added that I looked at the Titanium registry key for summary and it was set to disabled. I set this to enabled, but still no luck.
+1 on this issue. I have the same problem!
I think I figured it out!
You have to go into your windows folder. Scroll down to Titanium Weather. Once you get there open up titaniumweatheroptions.mscr and reset everything to enabled (even if they are already set to enabled). Then go back to the windows folder and double click on titaniumweather.exe and it will run! It now shows up in it own panel and in CAnalog Clock for me. Just to be sure I wasnt kidding myself, I turned off Titanium and moved CTitaniumWeather up and down the list to be sure it is there!
Let me know if it works for you or if you have any Q's.
EDIT: I have actually had a ton of issues with things just disappearing from the Home Screen, after a few more issues with the weather and other panels, I just reflashed my phone.
You're Brilliant Gersonian
Your advice worked like a charm. I kept on playing with the registry entries and never even thought to look in the Windows folder. Really glad I didn't have to resort to reflashing again

Questions now that I installed 6.5

I like WM 6.5 but it leaves me confused.
1. Txt msgs... before, If I got a new msg notification, the new msg would open if I clicked on the notification. Now if I click on the new msg notification I have to hunt through all my msgs to find the new msg. Is there away to set things so that the msgs are displayed in the reverse order that they come in.
2. Second, for the life of me I can't figure out how to display all my installed programs. I have a screen where most of them show up, all the pre installed programs, but not all of the ones that I have installed.
You should be able to view it from your Installed programs in start > settings > system > installed programs.
If that does not do the trick, download SK Tools it should work. If not TMS uninstaller is another one.
IN regards to your txt messages, I remember reading about another user who had the same issue. I don't know if it ever got solved, but check about 2 weeks back on these forums.
Hi guys, I have a TP2. I have a quick question. I'm not sure if before I did the update to the 6.5 the accelerometer would work when i put the phone on landscape with out taking out the keyboard. Also wasn't there an option on 6.1 that let you set it to auto? it no where to be found. is there a fix for this? please help/advise thanks
