Guys,
Does anyone know of WiFi tools for the MDAIII that will turn it into a mobile sniffer? As I drive a long the built in WiFi app will pick up some SSID broadcasting. I would like to have something more like the desktop software that tells me if its available, is it encrypted, is 64 bit or 128 bit, etc.
I will be traveling to my parents house and there isn't any wifi hotspots available in the City. I would like to 'sniff' one out so that I can get some work done while I'm there.
Thanks,
i belive this is what you are looking for

There is a PocketPC version of NetStumbler, called MiniStumbler. You can use this tool to detect Access Point who broadcast their SSID and you can see if the AP uses encryption (not able to differentiate between WEP 56, WEP 128, WEP 256, WPA-PSK, ...) or no encryption.
Thanks guys
http://www.thedragon.co.uk/Downloads/Downloads.htm has a copy of MiniStumber on it.
WiFiFoFum is way better than Ministumbler IMHO...
But the ultimate tool for the WiFi road warrior is PocketWinC hands down... 8)
Avoi Pocket Winc
Pocket Winc used to make my XDAII crash and a need a hard reset, so when it works, great, until the freeze. I would avoid it like the plague. Try Streethawk, it is an advanced wififofum, that not only finds hotspots, but automatically checks internet availability and connects...at your own peril

Looks fine but why pay for it when MDA III has the functionality already to some extent and you can use wififofum for free
Bluejacking
What abt bluetooth?
Are there similar BT tools for wm2003?
Thx
Well you're right. Which features has PocketWINC instead of WifiFofum ? Don't say there is no difference Why does Rayan says it is the "ultimate" tool?
The ultimate should be a passive wifi scanner such as Kismet on unix or Kismac for MacOSX, but I don't think this exist for PocketPC. The difference between ministumbler/netstumbler and these passive scanners is that they are too noisy and every smart security admin can detect you scannen for wifi networks. Passive scanners just listen to the traffic without making any noise.
Another point is that most active scanners do not notice Wifi networks when their SSID broadcast is disabled, passive scanners just watch traffic and if there is traffic on the wifi network with SSID broadcasts disabled, they will detect it.
just so it's mentioned:
Both streethawk and WiFiFoFum work perfect on my Orange SPV m2000 ... so does pocketWinc trial by the way.
cheers

sorry, wasn't loged in before..
one more tool i've found to work on my SPV m2000: WiFi Graph
cheers

Pocket WinC DON"T USE IT!
As mentioned, Pocket WinC has the same problem as SPB Plus/ Storage card monitoring error: It causes a power out and only a hard reset will bring you back. Suggest you use any of the others, I had to send my XDA2 to O2 for repairs before figuring this out... goodluck
hello all-
i am stubbornly trying to get my ppc-6600 to be able to browse network shares. i can FTP and activesync to my hearts content via bluetooth, but network access only works once and then flakes out, requiring a hard reset to work again, thus eliminating any convenience of wireless connections. i have tried various stacks from this forum, with little success. i am currently running the toshiba stack, but i can hardly tell any difference, because the "about" section in bt settings still refers to broadcom. however, i do have a new option in network cards that is toshiba.
anyway, is there anyone who has had consistent success with this on a phone like mine (blue angel?) i have seen some references to some other models, but not this one.
tia!
okay, so i take it i am the only one with any interest in this??
Hi
I remember that phone operators had a problem with allowing wifi on their phones as it opened the possibility of using things like voip which took their revenues.
On a similar note, is it also possible to make ad-hoc wifi connections between phones such as the artemis and use them as an intercom? and would the wireless network hold in moving vehicles, e.g. between two moving cars?
I'd be interested to hear any thoughts.
Thanks.
Is it somthing like this you are looking for?

Has anyone got any good idea for setting up a quickly-accessible shortcut for turning the wifi connection on or off?
There's CommManager button on the keyboard that leed you to WiFi and other connections. I'm on the SPB Mobile Shell3. Try it and you find out that there can be everything you imagine on the screen. So have Wireless Manager right in fron of me.
Dan
Thanks - I hadn't noticed that.
Interesting that you're choosing to use SPB Mobile Shell 3 instead of TouchFlo - I was thinking of doing the same myself.
TF3D is definitely not bad and this last release is good. But MS3 is awesome, using this already since times of Kaiser. There is much more freedom and operativness with MS3. Worth of trying at least...

Have set long press on the "phone" key to Comms Manager, then you can twiddle wi-fi to your heart's content!
This program works great just one click on or off
http://www.freewarepocketpc.net/ppc-download-aktogglewifi.html
This is one of the issues that I'd like to solve as well. One of the great capabilities of Nokia Symbian OS is that you can directly press on a bookmark for example and it will pop up a menu asking you to choose the way you want to connect (GPRS, WIFI access point, WAP, ...)
You just choose from it and there you go! Once you close the browser or the application that requires the internet connection it automatically stops wifi!
I find this setup great and it makes things much easier. Any way we can have such a setup on our beloved TP2?
I have installed smaberg's action screen:

That's affirmative!
The util, a great util by the way, is written for the Xperia, which has a WM bluetooth stack.
The Rhodium has a WidComm BT stack, so that's the only part that won't work.
Hi,
I am look ing for a SIMPLE today plugin to fast switch on/off BT. I have tried a dozen but none of them seem to work. Strange. I used to have a HTC Universal (WM 6.1.) and there the BatteryStatus (name of the program) worked like a charm (even the last version homescreen_plusplus doesn't work on the rhodium) I tried exe versions (like BtOnOff.exe)and cabs (like BlueTogglerSetup). So I am starting to think I am missing sth. Anybody a suggestion?
Oh yeah, the indicators do switch on of these plugins (when i switch on BT trough settings-connections) so they detect the state of BT but are not able to switching on them selfs?
Help welcome!
thx in advance

(damn, i am missing my solid universal!)
Read the very first post in this forum! The very first paragraph. The search function works well ;-)
Pro2 use a different bluetooth stack than all previous models. Currently I have not seen other BT toggles that is working, but I expect they will come later.
I have CommManager assigned to the send button, so it is no big issue for me.
The biggest issue is, that the BT headset controls are hardcoded to WMP/HTCPlayer, so I can not use my favorite mediaplayer.
thx
thx, yeah I searched and read about the BT problems.
I just wanted to check in to see if there was sth new going on this front.
I hope you didn't mind too much.
In the mean time I assigned comm manager to a soft key in combination with 2 today screens it is feasable, but definitely not sth I want as a final result.
greetz,
