Hi Guy's and Doll's,
First of all, this is a great forum, one of the best i have seen till now.
I have just both the QTEK 9090. before I had a HP4100 series. But is I can see this QTek is much slower!. Or it hangs very often.
I have inserted a card of 1GB maybe this slows down the device? I need to soft reset this device very often!
I have a button problem! In the settings you can block all your keys, so you dont accidently push buttons. Is there a possibility to assign also another button then the on/off button to switch the device back on? For example the OK button?
Also is there someone who developed a soft doing the "Profiles" like on nokia phones?
Also, how you can get the best performance out of this device? Let's say by allocating the memery.
I learned allready a lot in this forum, and i will do more. THNX!!!

Hi all my old 2I got ran over so now have the xda exec. What software is there to get rid of the 02 stuff?
Also need to know exactly what buttons to do a hard reset if needed also is the code the same as the 2i? Ie 5306 or whatever it is?
Much appreciated John
hi great Phones not to sure on all your answers but for reset press both the buttons on top of keyboard marked with a "-" and push the reset then press 0 to hard reset or x to exit also get the vga hack its amazing makes it the best Phone/pda ive ever had i love mine
After you do a hard reset, when it gets to the "Wait 3 seconds" part, soft reset again. That prevents anything from O2 from being installed. You will basically have a clean, fresh ROM of whatever ROM version you have.
Do they happen in other device apart from the orbit (Artemis HTC p3300)?
NO! - HTC reckon its a WM5 problem - see Trinity forum etc.....
I reckon its more of a HTC problem myself.....they have proved that they really are incompetent profiteering tossers.
Hi together,
first I beg to excuse my poor english - but schooltime is more years ago for me, than I was when I went to school
I'm also having the problem with often corrupted directorys of the micro-SD-card by the OS of my XDA Orbit.
After searching in some forums I found out, the reason for corrupting the directorystructure is the powerbutton-function that disconnects the cardpower before writing the drivecache-content completely onto the card.
This corrupts the FAT of the card.
HTC says as workaround "Better don't using the powerbutton. Instead of this you have to set the standby-time down to one minute and waiting each time after using the phone a while for the self-off of the powersave-mode".
I'm wonder how noone becomes a idea to program a small plugin that deflects the power-off-signal when pressing the powerbutton to the keylock-routine for avoiding the error as descibed by HTC.
With this plugin a pressing of the powerbutton would accomplish the keylock-function and the phone may be pushed immediately back into it's case or into a pocket without endanger a operating error by pressing a button unintentional while handle the phone after using.
When pressing the powerbutton again, the keylock should be released again.
I think, this could be a solution until HTC will fix this problem (if they will doing in all).
Unfortunately I'm programming in VBA only. So I am not able to write a code for the XDA as suggested. I don't have any API-declarations of the XDA also.
Is anyone in this forum who may program anything like this, perhaps?
If so, a lot of thankful XDA-users will pray him...

Hi,
I have a VODAFONE 1605 (a plain Hermes 200, a TyTN). It had the original Italian Vodafone WM5 ROM until last month when I decided upgrading it.
I first tried the CH Vodafone version of WM6 ROM, but I had to remove it quickly because for no apparent reason, it was not working with SMS at all (no SMS out, no SMS in...).
I then decided to use HTC WM6 ITA ROM and to apply manually all the needed configurations to use it with my VODAFONE.
It run perfectly until yesterday, when it stopped sending and receiving SMS.
This is very strange as I did not install any program since one week (at least) and it seems difficult for me to be able to find any reason.
Probably the pim.vol file grew too much it is not anymore able to handle more SMS (provided the infos are inside there) ?
I have no explanations available to me and I was not able to find any kind of hint digging into the forum...
I was only able to find some other people with similar problems in the last few days but on different platforms...
Is this maybe a WM6 bug ???
Any hint appreciated.
I'll in the meaningwhile backup all of my infos and proceed to a HR... I'll keep my fingers crossed...
Dear Mix,
I wish I could give you a good answer, but... well, maybe the answer is not really an answer, but it could be at least an hint for other people like you (ME !!!).
You do not want to lose all of your settings, all of your received SMS, you do not want to waste a lot of time setting everything as it was before, so an HR is REALLY the LAST solution for you. You would like to find a tricky path to follow to bypass this unlucky situation...
You already tried to SOFT RESET your device but you did not succeed. The problem is still there...
Well, there seems to be another kind of RESET, before the HARD RESET.
I would define it the "DEEP SOFT RESET", which is something more than a SOFT RESET, but it is right before the HARD RESET.
This kind of reset solved the above problem. I don't know why, I don't know how. It only worked.
The DEEP SOFT RESET is this: press OK and ON button and while pressing those two buttons, put your stilus into the reset hole, pressing the recessed switch. This will place you into the BOOTLOADER MODE.
Keep the device there, showing all the colors and Bootloader information for around 20 seconds at least (obviously, not connected to any cable).
Then, put your stylus again into the hole for resetting and press the internal swith one time more (without pressing any other button).
Your device will reset again, your data will still be into your TyTN and your TyTN will start loading all the data it still has inside.
As soon as I did this, the waiting SMS started reaching their addressee and they moved to "sent" folder.
Again, I'M SURE THIS DID NOT WORK WITH A NORMAL SOFT RESET (I ALREADY DID THIS 20 TIMES !!!). And again, I don't know wither HOW and WHY.
It only worked.
Good luck.
UPDATE:
I've noticed that the problem aroused again and I did a DEEP investigation, with a complete reset of my Hermes...
I then placed all the same programs inside and again no problem...
Problem came back once I used a program called Hermes Tweaker v2.1b which tweaks some parameters around in the WM device...
Once I reset the parameters to default again, the problem went away.
I'll have to discover which parameter is creating the problem...
I'll post the results here (beside fit4cat's pm...)
Good luck.
Hi guys, i have a question. how come after i installed wm6 on my htc 8525, my phone is very slow whenever i open any files or folders. Hope u guys can help me. thank you
Did you do a hard reset after you flashed?
How do i reset it? Also, with wm6 , it's really hard to use activesync, sometimes it work but sometimes it's not.

Click to collapse
Press both buttons above the green call and red hangup key poke your stylus to the reset hole. all together, and you will get a screen. look at the wiki please.
Or simply go to start>settings>system>clear storage>1234>ok.
Thank you you guys !
hi everyone
ive seen quite a few busted/malfunctioning standby button posts but none have had any proper answer other than to open the device and clear the dust.
ive done exactly that- opened up the device, blew off all the dust. but no help.
on closer inspection i realised that the legs of the standby button had actually come OFF the circuit board.
now..i could probably take it into a mobile shop and have it fixed. but i wonder if there is any software out there that could possibly simulate a Standby Button press?
this would be especially useful for flashing ROMs..
i am sorry but i can't figure out, how it should work. if it was some sort of cab and you "pressed standby" once, how would you wake up the device, you can test that with pshutxp. plus, the program would of course not be accessable when turned of or for reset. when reflashing the device, the prog would be gone anyway. if there was a remote program to control via pc, same thing, when your device is in standby, there is no pc connection, and again, no way to do it, while not being sync with AS. so the only actual access to that function is the hardware button itself, so instead of trying to substitute it, you should probably go get it fixed or order spare parts, or an entirely new device, which is probably the cheapest.

thanks for the reply
well i just need to press it once :S
to flash a new ROM
after that i can then reinstall the app (if it exists) to do any hard resets thereafter i guess......
zes, and that is the problem, in that situation, trying to start the bootloader, and also after flashing for the hard reset, you don't have any external access to the functions or to any programs on your device (since at that moment there are none, quite redundant). the one and only option to give the device the power buttons impulse, is the power button.
also i guess you're aware of the fact that upgrading your rom does not solve nor avoid your problem, you will still have no key lock, drain incredibly much standby time and once the device shuts off, you need to soft reset it to restart. if the button in physically broken, it needs to be physically repaired or your problem will not be solved.
http://mikechannon.net/PDF Manuals/HTC Blue Angel Service Manual.pdf
that is the ba's service manual, in which you can find the exact process on how to change the power button, and if you don't have spare parts, you could get inspired on how to substitute one...
also, maybe posting a photo of the damage to your button could make people who went through the same be able to advise you exactly, since all my experience in the hardware section of the ba is purely theretical.

hi tony
thanks.
after the flash i can still access the clear reg hive thing by holding record and cam button..
that should be all i need.
as for waking the phone, i can set it not to disable other buttons while on standby, so i can wake it with Call/End buttons.
and then with that, i can use s2cu to software lock the device to avoid accidental presses.
but you're right, nothing better than getting it fixed physically.
i GUESS itll just require resoldering the little switch back on, as the damage is that 2 of its pins have left the circuitboard. i dont have the tools to do a small and precise soldering job so..
ill try to take a pic too and post one later
well i dug deeper...
seems that there is a 'Enterbl.exe' thats supposed to be related to enterin the bootloader without having to do all the hardware keypresses.
I've not yet had luck with this...dont know which 'version' i need..
so perhaps to rephrase my question:
is there an alternative way to enter the bootloader mode on the blue angel?
similar to the Wizard Service Tool (which i also tried out of desperation, though all it does is blink the BA's screen)
