I recently acquired a 2nd user MDAIII and it is in excellent condition, very happy with the unit. But something that I have noticed is the main background screen appears to have more of a yellow hue than that of my previous units which where white. For example if I place my MDA1000 and MDAIII side by side the whites in the MDA1000 are more prominent and crisp. Is this a normal characteristic of the BA type units. It also has a screen protector attached, could this hue be attributed to the screen protector?
In fact the hue is very similar to the background colour of the XDA developers website.
Thanks john.
screen hue/colour
Come on Guys all you BA owners must have some feedback to this? would appreciate it...thanks
John
spooky this post as just got me new m2000 today and was thinking my eyes where playing up.
deffo a yello tint to mine as well previous units didnt have this was thinking about asking them to change it
Screen hue
Thanks thought it was just my eyes, but there you go. Another one out there. I was informed that HTC sources the screen from different manufacturers so this may explain the difference. Alas I cannot take mine back. Other than that it functions perfectly. so no problems there. But may trade it in for a XDAIIi or equivalent.
M2000 with blue tint
I've just got a replacement M2000 which has a really strong blue tint.
If they are going to use different manufacturers for screens, i'd expect some tool to adjust the colour settings.
Yes I agree you can only alter the brightness of the backlight, but not contrast or colour. It would be a good addition. If they want to use different manufacturers then they should at least ensure all the screens are within a specified tolerance. Anyone else have any thoughts on this or how to correct tones etc.
Orange have agreed to replace my M2000. Aparently there is no software solution to the problem...
SO whens the next blue angle coming out? I have seen any rumors on a phone like the blue angle(big screen, keyboard). Is it a discounted model? It seem that HTC is making different models. I live the wizard, but the screen is too small for me.
Have you guys seen anything?
actualy HTC Universal is descendant to Blue Angel ... but it cannot be treated so strictly .... I think the best combination of all will be HTC Hermes. The screen will be a bit smaller but it is still THE machine
The next BlueAngel? I think maybe, closest in form factor and yet WM5 would be the Sharp W-Zero3

Sharp is very cool, but only for Japan and wont work anywhere else.
I dont like the wizard, its too small. My phone is dieing! Im missing keys. Its totally overused(1year and 8months old!). Time for a new one, but I dont like anything thats out. I just want the Blueangle that slides its keyboard out from the side. bigger keyborad, same size, but thinner.
but it looks like nothing is on its way.....
If you want a keyboard, its the small wizard or the huge Universal. nothing in the middle............
Hi.
is wizard is most stable than blueangel i mean:
-wi-fi
-Movies
-phone
-comfortable
-BT
-fast and stable rom
Anybady can tell something about this?
Double post
Hi,
I had a Blue Angel (Orange SPV m2000) for 2 years before switching contracts and getting a Tytn/Hermes (successor to the wizard). After getting used to the smaller screen, I thought the Hermes was great for the next 18 months, until I dug out my Blue Angel. I couldnt believe how much nicer and easier the 3.5 inch screen is to read and use without the stylus compared to the 2.8 inch screen of the hermes. But what really surprised me was how much quicker the blue angel was compared to the hermes, which seemed real sluggish in comparision. I have now just flashed the Blue angel to WM6, and it is awesome. I'll sacrifice the lack of 3g and size of the blue angel for all it's benefits!
Regards
PS - I could watch movies no problem on the Blue Angel in full screen. I couldnt on the Hermes as the play back was too choppy. It's even worse on my mates Kaiser!
I am a Kaiser user thinking of upgrading to the Rhodium, but one of my critical upgrade requirements is to have a better screen than the one that came with the Kaiser. I am NOT talking about screen resolution (I already know that the Rhodium has higher resolution). I am talking about the light reflection properties.
The screen that comes with the Kaiser can be seen clearly when indoors, but it is impossible to see when you are outside. It reflects too much light. Other phones (for example on some of the latest Blackberries) have screens that can be seen PERFECTLY both indoors and outdoors.
Can somebody please tell me whether the outdoor reflection problems with the Kaiser are solved on the Rhodium?
I have a kaiser as well and tp2 is far better outdoor. The ambient light sensor and auto backlight adjustements really help...
I was going to ask the same question, so im just as interested in peoples response to this. thanks

I noticed you are from the UK. Have you tested it on a really sunny day? Because I am pretty sure that the results will be different on dark rainy day (like you have in London regularly...I am from the Netherlands, so its not much different) than on a sunny bright day.
Much better indeed

I'm from Israel, and upgraded my Kaiser for a TP2 a few weeks ago. Indeed the screen is much better, even outdoors on sunny summer days (LOTS of sun here. ).
It's still not perfect (what can ever be?), but the light sensor does help and if you choose your backgrounds well, it's great. I can use the phone without having to guess where things are (as I had to do with the Kaiser) and on the black on white background screens (emails, text, ...) it's even better.
I use it for turn-by-turn navigation on the car and it's good too, although the silver frame sometimes reflects the sun and it's a bit annoying, but it doesn't interfere with screen reading in any way.
I'm really happy with the upgrade and think the TP2 is the best phone out there by far.
I live in Arizona and when I walk outside the screen disappears! OTOH, so do the screens of all other devices as well.
I'm hoping someone makes an anti-glare screen protector for the TMoUS TP2 soon.

once they make it, and I'm sure they will, get a boxwave antiglare protector. I use them on all mydevices dating back to my original sony clie and swear by them. Problem solved.
The screen is not very good outdoors in sunlight or in shade. It is too hard to see. I am a BlackBerry user and can always see my Bold and 8900 in the car but I cannot safely even attempt to use the Touch Pro 2.

I can't understand why a company like HTC would release a brand new model of the Kaiser (now called Rhodium), and not fix the critical issues of its predecessor. The latest versions of the Blackberries work very well outdoors. I had a curve model 8900. It was not a touch sensitive screen, so I don't know if that could make the difference. Perhaps somebody with an iPhone or another touch screen device can tell us if they work well outdoors.
As a previous Kaiser Owner, and living in the sunny UK
The Screen of the TP2 is much better outdoors, the Kaiser was very bad for anything outdoors... GPS etc etc...
DOXBOX on Rhodium?
Hello, is there a doxbox that can work on the rhodium?
Would like to play Command & Conquer on this badboy.
Thanks for all the replies. It seems that most of you feel that there is definitely and improvement in the Rhodium screen characteristics which makes it useful when operating out in the open sky. That's definitely a plus point that is leaning me towards upgrading.
The other thing that I want to check before deciding whether this is a worthwhile upgrade for me is the video acceleration.
Could those of you who answered this thread go to the following one and tell us about your video acceleration.? As you provably know the Kaiser (ATT Tilt / TyTn II) has capable chips, but no drivers for proper acceleration and the video playback, games playback and others suffers as a result. I am wondering if the Rhodium comes with the right drivers to operate the video chips, and how the video performance compares to other devices out there. The Kaiser underperformed even really cheap phones, so hence my concern.

if you actually use the kaiser light to the highest! while outdoor, you should have a better view then say using the TP2. I was with my wife, and I gave her my tilt, until I get the tmobile agree to sign a new contract for mytouch 3g since I already have five lines...on a family plain. when I noticed her phone was bright I was like let me check mine, and I couldn't see....I think tilt is a cool phone even after two years....you know you better keep tilt if you don't need to upgrade...PS my TP2 was on auto light!
Iphone 2g is not very good in the sunlight, neither is the TP2 or the T-mobile google phones, either one. The BB 8900 is very usable in direct sunlight. Of the phones mentioned I'd have to say that the TP2 screen is the least legible in sunlight. That's the way it seems to go with cell phones, unfortunately they all have their own strengths and weaknesses.

Quite surprised to read your statement recommending us to keep the Tilt instead of upgrading. I like it when somebody takes a bold stance like this one; but I would appreciate it if you could elaborate a bit more on your recommendation.
I live in Portugal and in the summer i have to go into shade to see my screen, but as another poster noted, I've never had any colour screen PDA or phone work. The only screen I know here that really works was a friends Motorola with what appeared to be an e-ink screen (black and white, looked like print).

Is that your experience with the Rhodium or with the Kaiser?
I guess I have been spoiled! I had a Blackberry Curve 8900 and I could use it as a GPS outdoors without ANY problems what-so-ever with regards to seeing the screen even in bright daylight, without shade, etc.
The Blackberry Curve 8900 does not have a touch screen though. So perhaps the touch screen technology isn't 'sun and sky' compatible. Does anybody have experience using the new models of the iphone outdoors? I don't want an iphone, but I am curious to know if that touch screen technology suffers from the same problems as the Kaiser and Rhorium
I have a Kaiser and TP2 if much better. Go for it.
I purchased a Rhodium (Att Tilt 2) and I am very happy with it. The screen quality is a huge improvement. It reads well outside, reacts well, etc. My only complaint is that I miss the up/down/right/left/center 'joystick' like keys on the Kaiser.
hello there
i am thinking of buying the htc desire , but after reading lots of reviews i didn't find any good answer of this question:
how's the sound quality of the earpiece during phone calls?
i work in a very noisy place , and currently i am using pro2 which is great when it comes to this point.
so , is the desire as good as the pro2 or better?? , please advice as i really need your opinions
thanks a lot
For me, the earpiece quality is more than sufficient.
But you might want to take a look at the Nexus One, wich has noise cancellation technology with a second mic.
i can't get the nexus one as it's not avilable in my country , and i am stuck with only two options the htc desire , and the sony x10
i pesonally like the bigger screen of the x10 , but i saw so many posts in its forum saying that it has a very poor sound quality
and i also like the sence interface of the desire as i am using it on my pro2
so compared to the pro2 to the desire how's the sound quality?
any help please
this point will be a deal breaker for me
thanks
Get either. They are both great. Although I prefer the desire's slim feel.
Then get a "Jawbone Prime" bluetooth headset. This has a sensor which detects movement in, you guessed it, your jawbone and only returns what its picking up.
I can make a call doing 70 on the motorway with all the windows down and the receiver can clearly only hear my voice on my headset.
Well worth the investment. Cost me £50
