simple question but - Upgrading, Modifying and Unlocking

I am damned if I can find out how to change the font colour on the today screen, please forgive the lightweight nature but it is something that I'd like to do!!
Thanks
Pete
NB I do use "claunch" to launch applications off the today screen if that helps or hinders.

you can just get a today theme builder and make a theme with a different colour

or you can update the following registry key:
\HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\color\4
it's binary value of 4 fields of 2 digits [ex. 00 00 00 00 for black color]

XDA IIs not showing the clock

Hey guys, just recently I notice that there is no clock on the upper right hand corner of the home screen. Before It would show the time but now it has somehow disappear. Does anyone know how to get the clock showing up again? I have gone tto clock and alarms under settings and it does show the proper time.
Thanks in advance
Is it possible another icon overlapping it? Did you just install a new program?
A number of things can cause this:
1) As stated by cayotte - May be another icon hiding it.
2) Installed some kind of task switcher which replaced it (Or hid it as 1 above).
3) Modified registry entry under \HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Shell -> Specifically an incorrect value in TBOpt (Setting to 13 00 00 00 produces a clock and date in the taskbar by the way).
4) Desktop replacement software with clock disabled (Such as Wisbar advance)

Network settings

does anyone know how to prevent the BA to switch networks automatically, I have changed the settings from automatic to manual, but it still switches aparently when Im not looking !!! hahaha Im away from home on business and im right at the border and sometimes Im on home network and then when Im not looking Im on International roaming... and I cant maker or recieve calls and stuff...
also does anyone know any of the Call Barring network codes for Cingular?
we need to start a thread where everyone can post all their cool BA regsistry Tweeks... here is some rather simple ones...
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Color
if not there you can insert them
Binary_value 4 = Today screen text
Binary_value 9 = Start color and Time and date color
the background for the mail and the task is controled by 4 binary keys
15 controls the right side of the screen horizontally
16 controls the right side of the screen horizontally
36 and 37 control the alternate lines horizonally respectivelly
for example if you want to sent the background to a gradient of red and yellow you do this
Binary_value 15= FF 00 00 00
Binary_value 16= FF FF 00 00
Binary_value 36= FF 00 00 00
Binary_value 37= FF FF 00 00
39 key controls the Start Menu Text Color
6 key controls the Today Screen separator lines
13 and 14 control the notification bubble color
27 controls the color of the font of the notification bubbles..
thats just some... I cant figure out which controls the message body background and text in Poutlook and TextMsg...
Keep on Hacking !!

Hack the planet.
Here's a universal list of GSM codes which may or may not work on Cingular, and here's a page of registry tweaks.
yeah I have seen those... I was talking about new reg tweeks that people might have come up with since that thread was posted...
and on the GSM NET codes, for example...
Set: *35*barring code*16#[SEND]
Cancel: #35*barring code*16#[SEND]
I was talking about the barring code, if anyone knew some or something...

Show Clock AND Battery in titlebar

Ok i have searched for this, using both google and the forum search, and all i have found is ways to have clock and date, or no clock and the battery icon.
Some roms have both the battery icon and the clock in the top bar. Is there a simple registry edit i can use to do this?
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Hermes_Registry
@Lover: Thats not really what he's looking for i think. He wants the clock and the batt at the same time (next to each other I guess) There's no reg edit to get BOTH the battery and the clock

Lover's right. Look almost half way down the page:
Show Time,Date, both or Battery on top bar at Today screen
is the title.
Yes and that means show:
a) Time
b) Date
c) Both (Date and Time)
d) Batt
option e) is unavalable: Time and Batt
Perhaps Wisbar Advanced helps you, is comercial software, but you can set up your title bar like you want...date, time, battery, memory, etc... give a try.
Regards.
thanks for your replies. Its strange though cause some of the roms around have this.

Might be an idea to ask the creators of those Roms then, don't you think?
maybe you could try pbar (made by nncuong, at the development and hacking section). it has the capability to show the time above the remaining battery charge (in %), and can also show the battery level indicator at the topmost portion of the screen.

Why not have all 3, date, time, and battery icon to show in the title bar? For date and time:
HKLM/Software/Microsoft/SHELL
add a new binary value: TBOpt
data: 13 00 00 00
OK.....soft reset.
For the customizable battery icon, download this very small app.
If you want AM or PM to show by the time, download tweaks2k2, good for 3 tweaks. This is the way my 8125 is set up, and I've been very happy with it!

Standard type of TBopt value is DWORD. Leave it DWORD, simple set to 19. Soft reset. Result - date and time in two lines. Enjoy

If you install the battery app, either cut/paste, or copy/paste the executable in windows start up folder so that the battery icon is in the title bar each time the device wakes up.
hi, so whats the solution for TIME AND BATTERY? (no date please!)

[Layout][WWE][SWE] BIGkeys for FingerKeyboard 2.1

First off: Credits, a big THANKS and hats off to Rozenthal, Exidler and Giannis86 for their respective work with FingerKeyboard: IMHO the best typing solution for windows mobile.
Click here to go to the FingerKeyboard thread!
What's BIGkeys? This is a landscape layout for FingerKeyboard v2.1 that maximizes the size of the keys to facilitate typing even more. The goal of the layout is to be as similar to a normal keyboard as possible to provide intuitive placement of special chars. Of course with the size constraints of the keyboard there are some compromises. There is no BIGkeys portrait layout. If you want bigger keys in portrait, try the SoftTouch Max Key layout by ring-bearer (thanks aussiebum for recommendation).
The original swedish layout is created by a friend of mine. I thought it was so good that I wanted to publish it here and he's given me permission to do so. He made the key spacing and the original layout, I have polished the layout to make it similar to a normal keyboard for intuitive placement of special chars etc and I also made a WWE layout with his layout as base. My friend has the name byggver here on XDA and all credit goes to him for this excellent layout.
How to install: First install FingerKeyboard. Then copy the .txt file attached in the post for respective layout into the Skins folder of where you installed FingerKeyboard, for example Internal Storage\Program Files\FingerKeyb\Skins. Then select correct language in FingerKeyboard settings.
One more thing: These layouts are provided as-is. If you want something added or changed, take a look into the layout .txt file and do it yourself. It is really quite simple: there is one row per key, the first numbers in every row are key x-placement, y-placement, width and height, then there is a reference to the key images used and there is the text displayed on the key as well as the corresponding output. It is really self-explainatory once you look into the .txt file. I did this with hardly any programming skills and so can you.
I cannot please every taste, only you can make the perfect keyboard for you. I'm just sharing what I already have and as a bonus I'm doing a WWE layout. This way, you can at least have a starting point for your own perfect layout. If you make your own layout based on BIGkeys and want to share it, feel free to post it in this thread and I'll make a link to it on the first page.
WWE layout
So, here's the WWE layout. I used the standard US keyboard layout as reference, however I've not done much typing on US or UK keyboards, so I probably don't have a good feel on where to put the special chars that don't have a given place. I tried to make it as intuitive as I could.
Feel free to change what you don't like!

SWE version
This is the swedish layout. It contains no key to change language, I removed it to give more space for other keys. I only use this language layout anyway so...
UPDATE: A swedish portrait layout for WVGA can be found HERE. The keys are only standard size, but it's still useful.

Actually, portrait doesn't really give much to work with if you want bigger keys. The 480 pixel width is really a limiting factor there. The BIGkeys layouts are only landscape, at least for now. But feel free to make your own and post it here, I'll put a link up on fist page if it gets buried in the thread.
Of course I can share the swedish portrait layout I'm using if anyone is interested, but the keys are not bigger than FingerKeyboard standard size. The WVGA version looks the same as the VGA version in my signature but with an extra row for arrows and keyboard on/off.
ok, thanks for your response, and i would not have a clue where to start on this, and will take your expert advice in this and leave well alone.
Thanks!
How nice isn´t this! I was going to buy a bluetooth keyboard, but with this I will not. I can type at full speed without errors again, just as on my Hermes.
Thank you very much!
WWE layout is up. Enjoy!

You have some pointers in the first post. Back-up the .txt-files before you start trying and you can't ruin anything. Have a go, you'll figure it out in no time, promise!

Thanks for your feedback! Glad you like it, it's a pleasure to help my fellow swedes. I used to have an Xperia with a hardware keyboard but I find typing with FingerKeyboard and this layout faster and more accurate.

If you want bigger keys in Portrait mode try the SoftTouch Max Key layout in the Xperia forums => http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=506474
It looks a bit funny but actually works quite well.
I think I am missing something. I did what you said loaded the text file into the skins folder. Nothing no resize in portrait. Any help?
Thanks Really want to use this!

BIGKeys is landscape only. If you want larger portrait keys use MaxKey: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=506474

When the app you run (for example notes) is rotated into landscape and you bring up the keyboard, you will automatically get the landscape layout. To be able to rotate you need to activate rotation for the application you run and to be able to do so you need to have a rotation app like ChangeScreen, Gyrator etc.
Thank you Thank you

Swedish portrait WVGA layout
This is not really part of BIGkeys since the keys on this layout are standard size.
It was hard to do something useful with the portrait layout because of the size constraints. This is definetely a compromise but at least the swedish special characters are easily availible. Enjoy!

Now the KT key is just to show/hide the bottom bar for quick texting in landscape. I paired it with the abovementioned MaxKeys and converted that to VGA just by changing the resolution from 800x480 to 640x480 and it was easy.

Should be possible through the use of advanced parameters. Looks like you want to move your minutes vertically, so the basic code should be
Code:
$#DK#=1?[oy]xyz[oy]$
where xyz is the value of the y offset for that hour. Then you'd have to repeat that for every hour
Code:
$#DK#=1?[oy]xyz[oy]$
$#DK#=2?[oy]xyz[oy]$
$#DK#=3?[oy]xyz[oy]$
...
This way you end up with one module for the minutes that contains positions for every hour and the conditional will switch between these positions. Your minutes need to be in a separate module for this to work though.

Now i found it is work only with text module. Is there any way to get this work with series module or how can i make it (hour as like as series module) on text module?
If it is work only with text module then how can bold or highlight current hour on that?
Thanks.

Just to make sure I understood everything correct: you want to have a display of the hours from 1 to 12 and beside that a minute counter (+ am/om marker), that is positioned on the current hour, right?
If so, I would probably do it this way: Rich Text module (not the normal Text module!) with the following code as the content of the text module (not as an advanced parameter!)
Code:
$#Dk#=1?[*b]01[/b]:01$ $#Dk#=1?#Dmm a#$
(remove the * from the b-tag! it's just there to break XDA's tag parser :) )
Copy that module, replace all 1/01 with 2/02, copy the module, replace with 3/03,etc. etc. Then you just need to properly space the modules and you should have build your own "series" clock.
This was all done in my head, so I couldn't really test it. If it doesn't work please post the zw file of your widget so I can have a look at it
