I'm afraid not.
HP didn't release any updates for this machine as they scrapped the whole range in favour of Ipaq
Dont be tempted to flash the ROM with a generic 2003, or even EUU3 as this hohses the machine.
I heard reports that EUU3 would only kill windows media, but as this is what you need I would say no. (too risky anyhow)

I have planned to buy O2 XDA IIs from my frnd (2nd hand for sure)
Does it comes under the name, blueangel???
also please tell me pros and cons about this dmobile device
I already own O2 xda exec, typhoon and voyager
what about this one???
cud U, experienced users please guide me....am i gonna upgrade its rom to WM6 or not??
It's a great device, you won't make a mistake It has Intel PXA263 400mhz processor (This is the only thing i don't like in blueangel. It is not so fast. If you plan to play 3d games it is not very good for this. But you can easily overclock it with pocket master to 530mhz. With this frequency it handles everything without Snow Rally - there's a little lag and you can't play Playstation 1 games even if you overclock it to 590. I got 21-23fps in Tony Hawk Pro Skater with @530mhz and Frameskip - 2), 128 ram (This is great! With so much ram you don't need real close button. But there are no applications that wants more than 32 ram, so this is not a big advantage), Big screen and the best design for games(The screen is perfect. It wouldn't be bad if there was VGA screen but QVGA is not so bad either. In web browsing the qvga resolution is a big dissadvantage. You have to scrool a lot. But now there are browsers now that supports Zoom function. With it the browsing is good even on qvga device. When Opera 9.5 comes out it will rock And the design is great for games. It's like joystick when you handle it in landscape position and there are many buttons), 64mb Flash Storage(It's not much but you don't need more. There are SD Cards for that), SD/MMC expansion slot( The bad thing here is that it doesn't support SDHC, there are no drivers for that and there won't be in future ), CIF camera (It is really badd. The image quality is similar. If you try to record video it lags. I don't know why :/ It does it wven in the lowest quality), WiFi( No problems here), Bluetooth (No problems here either), IrDA( It can't be used as a remote controller because the irda range is around 3 meters)
And finally the PocketPC comes with WM2003. You can install WM6.1 but I recommend you to wait for explode's WM6.1. His roms are the best With the new windows the pocket becmoes really fast and stable. That's all, it's a great device

Nice choice. I recently picked up a hermes and while it is very nice, there are some things I miss from the Angel.

I don't quite understand this question. If you are asking if it was sold under the name of Blue Angel, no. Blue Angel is the HTC internal name for the phone. It was never sold by HTC directly, but to the various cell carriers who rebadged it with their own plastics and ROM/applications.

Pros:
Good CPU speed (the keiser runs at the same speed, 400 mhz)
The CPU has been around for a while, so 3rd party apps that are designed for the CPU work well.
Good physical size on the screen
Lots of storage and program memory when the extended ROM is resized/removed.
Cons:
Since it is an older platform, any MW version after 2003 is a hack. The drivers are generally ported from other phones and there are various bugs that will probably never be fixed due to a lack of hardware drivers. Everything does work, there are just various quirks.
Radio range (bluetooth, wifi, etc) are not the best. Heck, they often tend to be down right crappy.
Unless someone is able to write and release a SDHC driver for the card slot, it will never support SDHC cards, which will limit the phone to 4 gig cards. 2 gig is the official spec for SD, but there are a few 4 gig non-SDHC cards out there.

I still like mine and plan on passing it to my wife or using it for testing and development if she doesn't want it.

I would. MW6 is a huge improvement over 2003 and 5. The latest ROM builds out there work very well, if not 99% perfectly, and are fast.
In my opinion, Hemli releasing wm6 for the angel breathed new life into the device.
Really, I wish HTC would revive the device, make an updated version of it. The form factor, while is a bit big for a phone, is great for usability as a PDA.

I second that! Just ditched my Hermes for my old trusty Blue Angel, which blows the pants off it! I forgot how much I loved the 3.5 inch screen!
Rookie as well with the Blue Angel
I am getting started with the Blue angel as well (O2 Xda IIs)
I like it a lot this will probably become my best buddy during my travels
I got a couple of complementary questions about it.
I intend to use it for business purposes, mainly Internet through
Wifi and GPRS, pdf and offices documents.
I saw on this forum that you advise to change from WM 2003SE to Windows Mobile 6 (the last published by Microsoft)
-My question is: This PDA is already a bit old now, is it going to work smoothly wit the very last OS, which is designed for more recent PDAs (i.e which should be more efficient).
I mainly want to use it for Internet, wich browser do you recommend ?
Internet explorer? Opera Mobile? Opera Mini? other browser?
By the way what is the difference between Opera Mobile and Opera Mini
you should go with opera mobile, as it is better suited for pda's. opera mini is suited for java based mobile phones.

man i wish they would do that, or release a device with the same glorious screen but with contemporary features, all in all the blu angel is still a killer device 4 years on.
Absolutely right. I had been using the subj for 4 years in nearly extremal conditions, uprading and downgrading firmware dozen times. But, unfortunately it died as hero. Really great gadget, legend of HTC platform challenging ages.
Hi
Well with WM 6.1 it does everything I need and thats for sure I have my pick of devices and always come back to this one - and the 11i which is just about as good
I cant think of a time I have been upset with what it does or doesn't do. I intend keep one for as long as it will run....

Check out this UI for the meizu phone..
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eq_qk4Rxn-0
It is running on windows mobile.
Will it be possible to port the code to HD?
http://www.meizume.com/m8-firmware/7812-m8-firmware-0-9-0-0-a.html
Probably possible - but difficult. The M8 uses only the Windows CE6 core, not Windows Mobile itself (which is still based on the crappy CE5 core). What Meizu did is take the good CE6 core and build a nice interface onto it.
This is exactly what Microsoft, HTC and all the other manufacturers should have done long time ago. Get rid of WM6 and its crappy CE5 core and build a new system on top of CE6.
Windows Mobile has both a crappy core and a crappy interface. I can't understand why Microsoft still has not built a new interface onto CE6, which was already released two-three years ago. That would've been easy but they just didn't care about Windows Mobile for another two years and let HTC and others do the work of replacing the WM interface - which is hard because there's always the crappy WM interface underneath.
The Meizu system is a bit like what Windows Mobile 7 will be - better core, nice interface. But Windows Mobile 7 is coming two years too late.
Anyway...
I suggest you do a Meizu M8 skin for iContact/PocketMusic/Resco Explorer/ThumbCal/Wisbar Advance Desktop and others in the meantime. Then replace the default Windows Mobile applications with these programs and voilà...
And make a finger-friendly alternative to Outlook...
And get rid of TouchFlo scrolling and implement the Windows Mobile 6.5 scrolling/zooming engine.

This maybe possible but you would need to shift everything around to make it Windows CE 6.0 compatible. I was looking into doing a project like this after building a ROM or two for my phone. Anyone up for a group project?
The project have been started?
i guess the music quality will be really good in this phone
MEIZU are well known about their good sound quality (i own the M6 MP4)
this going to be a really nice phone i think
At a net price around 325 euros during instant sale on the bay if the seller is in a good mood, and delivery ex Hamburg, it might be tempting to buy one... Just a pity there is no 3G, guess I wait for the M9

no G3??!
thats bad...too bad!
is this meizu m8 port to HTC blackstone possible?
I was digging over internet , may is a ported win xp image for ours Diamonds, but ... nothing. Maybe I was not so good to search ... and someone know?

I think there is no xp port for diamond(because the specs of the device itself)

see if you can get a virtual machine for the mobile processor architecture. then emulate an x86 processor and load XP in that.
i'll tell you though it wont be a full xp. and it will be slower than a slow thing.
There are currently no versions of Windows XP which run on the ARM processor, and as recently as 6 weeks ago Microsoft wouldn't comment on any plans to ever do one (see this article http://www.thestandard.com/news/2009/03/13/3-reasons-microsoft-shouldnt-port-windows-arm-processor).
Even if they did, RAM requirements and the amount of disk writes the OS naturally does would make the Diamond REALLY work to offer even a mediocre performance standard.
On the subject of emulation....seriously???? I promise you, you're talking about taking a pretty advanced instruction set (x86) and running it on the arm processor (comparatively a child). It's easy to emulate current ARM processing on your current x86 processor, but it doesn't go the other way. I think I have read that some people have done this on some more powerful test hardware before, but the start-up time alone on your phone will be measured in hours, not minutes. If you seriously think this is worth trying, it's theoretically possible today by loading an ARM-compiled version of linux onto the phone (I seem to remember reading a thread about this a while back) and running something like virtualbox to emulate windows. In 6 months, after the install onto the memory card is complete (remember, phone memory alone will certainly be too small), let me know if it starts.

Well it is April but not the 1st.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=362344
Hello, this is my first post here, and I hope to not to break any rule. Here's what I want to say:
I have a Benq P50, and I'm one of those users that have to regret the fact of having bought a P50 and not a P51 instead, because we, the users of p50, have to stick on WM 2003, and see how the most of the programs we can get are designed for WM5 and superior.
Now, ok, maybe there's no any official update available por our phones to WM5 or 6 because they discontinued the P50 (now they discontinued the p51 as well) but they probably wanted to make the p50 obsolete, so everyone has to change to p51.
Well, now let's talk about hardware & software. These phones have almost the same hardware. Actually, I can state the differences:
To the left is P50, to the right, P51
Display TFT resistive touchscreen, 65K colors / TFT resistive touchscreen, 256K colors
Memory 64 MB RAM, 64 MB ROM / 64 MB RAM, 192 MB ROM
Wlan Wi-Fi 802.11b / Wi-Fi 802.11b/g
Bluetooth v1.1 / v1.2 with A2DP
Infrared Yes / No
So, as you may see, there aren't many differences between these phones. Even the processor is the same.
I just wonder, how can't be possible to adapt a P51 WM6 (or WM5) rom to P50? If they have almost the same hardware, this, theoretically, should be possible, shouldn't it?
I just want to ask you guys to help me do it, I'll use my phone to test it.
That's all. Thank you for reading, I hope you answer soon.
PD: Sorry for my english
please someone... tell me how to edit the P51 rom or something... Or at least tell me that what it want is not possible...
Are you really really sure you can't answer?
sorry!my dear friend. I dont have this device. So……
pls i ve a benq p51 in china lang,i dont know how to fromat d neqw rom on it,pls teach me step by step
I am also having one P50 running on 2003SE, I think because of the ROM there is no space for WM5 or WM6+. There are some websites claiming to upgrade the ROM of the existing devices and I tried to contact some of them but unfortunately, all told me that it is not possible. Despite of lots of problems like Data loss and crapy UI, I still manage to run it with PIM backup & SPB Backup. SPB keyboard V4 works well with it for better typing. Though, recently I bought a Gsmart i128 & upgraded it to WM6.5, with SPB Shell it is giving me Marvelous service, I still love my BenQ P50 because of the Universal IR Remote.
hello all
i am wondering if windows mobile 7 will work on the win mobile based xperia x1.
ofcourse i know that the panels will not work, but thats not an issue..

Hi! I'm afraid the Xperia X1, or the Xperia X2... or any phone with less than a snapdragon processor has no chance of Windows Mobile 7 working on it. The hardware won't support it at all. The HD2 will also have trouble running it, but if anything, that's probably the only phone (HD2) out now that will come close to running 7.
that would be sweet if it could be done
