The SE ROM is now perceived quite unflexible.
In LumpyStefan ROM kitchen, you can cook your own ROM and choose from the list which applications you would like to be included in.

I wouldn't mind getting hold of that rom either, if its just access to planet 3 you're after then take a look at this thread.

Chris
The 3 UK rom is simply a QTEK 9000 rom with 3UK customisations in the extended rom.
The files from the extended rom are available in the link below.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=340982
I did make up a flashable extended rom as well but rapidshare has deleted it.
If you unlock your extended rom and replace all the files in it with the above then you have a 3uk version phone.

First of all Psidoc I would like to say thanks for the effort you have put in to bringing the 3 experience to others like my self who did not start off with a genuine 3 uni.
I am having a couple of issues I recently flashed the thing on a spring win mobile 6.1 rom onto my uni, fortunately thing on a spring packaged his rom up as a separate nk.nbf and an ruu installer, so all I had to do was drop your 10MB extended rom into the same folder as the RUU at it included it in the install for me !
I am now left with a partially customised device for example the dialler has the porper 3 logo in it (like the one in your avatar) but when I press the ie button on the keyb it says not assigned (not a big deal I can do a regedit for that. If I start up IE it comes up about.blank for the home page, also not a big deal. If I run some of the customisations independently I can get it to fix the homepage issue but here in lies the real problem, when I go to the real home page it is blank !! I think it is to do with this user agent business, so after all this rambling my question to you is which file sets up all the user agent stuff properly and will allow me to use the 3 portal ??
it's funny because with the thing on a spring rom, I had an error at the end of the customization, could not fing the TSK file even though I knew it was there, I just flashed ranju7.6 rom only and this time it customized with no problems ??
Some do some don't mate.
A lot of chefs cook roms specifically and they don't like random customisations. Also remember this extended rom is totally standard from a WM5 QTEK9000 so again some diffferences may occur when you apply it to WM6
Thanks again to Z£Y$ for posting the files that I could cook into an extended rom for general use.

It does work buts it's a bit of tedious mucking about to get it to do it. even original 3UK Qteks have problems with this.
I never use the portal, just surf the net.

CRCs PHKv11 Release 3 Complete ROM
BlackDragon WM6 ROM Updated
Schap's WM6 Pro 4.30 Full ROM
PDA Viet WM 6.1 19716.1.1.0 PV
ROMs were tested on my HERM 100 (Orange M3100) with 1 GB Kingston MicroSD. Radio version is 1.54.30.0 and during the testing phone part of the device was off (flight mode). Device was attached to a charger. All ROMs were tested immediately after the flash. SPB benchmark was installed into the main memory. After that I soft resetted the device, and stopped all running programs using settings>>memory. All ROMs were tested with their original settings - i.e. no today plug-ins were disabled. Results are device specific - some tests use the MicroSD card - so if you do the tests your results will probably differ.
Findings:
1) Cooked ROMs do make a difference: increased performance is obvious, additional tweaks and enhanced functionality of cooked ROMs make official ROMS quite useless.
2) Lite ROMs are more snappy and as they get more bloated their speed diminishes. Install only programs you need.
3) Black ROMs seem to be the fastest so far.
4) Faria is really a great cook (his ROM proved worthy it's almost legendary status )
5) There is more than just benchmark results that makes a ROM great. Read their respective threads about their advantages and disadvantages.
6) Cooked ROMs have made a noticeable progress since january. Older benchmark results can be found here and here. The performace and usability gain is quite impressive.
7) Older ROMs scored lower than the newer ones. Keeping your device updated is good for it's health
8) Actual differences between latest ROMs are quite small. Choose according to your taste.
9) Out of new (3.62.0-3) ROMs Schap's ROMs are outstanding. He is like a good (French) wine - gets better with age, The only ROMs with similar results were Black ROMs which are out of development now
10) Newest ROMs are very fast - including official one from Telstra - it seems that the video playback problem older official ROMs had is gone and official ROM now can compete with cooked ROMs in terms of speed
11) kin0kin has made a straight run for the elite cookers with his K's Rom v1.21. It is one of the fastest available.
12) Shamanix's Grass 2.2 is officially the second fastest ROM I have tested (R.I.P. Black ROMs)
13) New Pandora 6 Naked ROM also broke records in some categories...
Notes:
- I will not run tests on following ROMs:
- Sajakati's HypercoreLite froze while benchmarking (only HR solved the situation) and though I run less tests than usually it did not finish properly - benchmarking not recommended due to extreme instability while doing so) However new Black Dragon Sajakati's ROM was running very smoothly and I had absolutely no problems benchmarking it.
- Please note that benchmarking is a stress testing, so eveni if the benchmarking does not work on a ROM it does not mean it will brick your device someday.
- It seems that NETCF version has no impact on overall device performance (tested the ROM with either NETCF 2.0 or 3.5) compared to the ROM without NETCF or between the NETCF versions. That however might not be true for using programs that use these frameworks.
To do:
- Include more ROMs
- Include tabular comparison of ROMs features
- Include benchmarks from other programs
- Try to persuade mods to do this thread sticky....
- Any wishes, comments?

THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR SUPPORT
Please help me to make the benchmarks better. More info here.
Performance tweaks that will improve responsiveness of your ROM no matter which you choose (Kudos Cyphol):
1. Improve performance/response time:
- Start > Settings > Phone => Keypad = Off
- Start > Settings > Sounds & Notifications; Under Sound Tab => Disable/Untick Events (warings, system events) - this tweak will BRUTALLY increase the responsivenes of Start menu and Quick Menu 2.7 (because system will no more have to search for sound files in the ROM everytime you tap the screen)
2. Your Windows Mobile device is just like your Windows PC. So, soft reset it before going to sleep (or whenever appropriate) once a day to make it runs good at all time (because of the memory leak when you close the program not all the memory is restored - sof reset restores RAM lost due to Memory leak).
3. Make sure you install the today plugin apps such as Resco Today Plugin etc. on the internal/device memory. Some today plugin can be installed on the storage card but it'll slow down your system performance a bit.
4. Do not install too many apps on the internal/device memory. Leave as much free space as you can on it. Check whether it can be install on the storage card or not. Normally, don't let it become as low as 8MB free but 10MB is enough already.
5. Know what you're doing such as tampering your system registry. Make sure it can be done and you're doing it the right way. If not, then leave it as is.
6. Never hide the WirelessManager Tray Icon at the bottom.
Don't believe me?
Try it and feel the difference.
This is the key:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Services\WirelessMgr]
"Keep"=dword:00000000 ;<--- (dword:00000000 to hide and dword:00000001 to show)
7. Never let your device go to sleep by itself. Do it manually by pressing the power button everytime when you've finished using your device.
8. Make sure you shutdown the 'Activesync' completely after activesyncing your device with your PC. You can use task manager (X-Button), Magic Button etc or you can use memory applet in setting > System > memory; Running Programs
YES!!! Finally some solid numbers to depend upon for comparison! Btw, how long did it take you to do this frenzy of HR, flash, benchmark, HR flash, benchmark?

would a day of benchmarking suffice for conclusive results? although this would help would be FLASHERS to decide which ROM they can try first instead of starting another "WHICH IS THE BEST ROM" thread.

The thing is, SpB Benchmark is a program, as in lines of code. Hence, these numbers might not mean much for stability, but for speed, these numbers tell no lies.

As I have wrote before - benchmarks are just numbers. Actual experiences vary. Decisions about which ROM to use should not be solely based on benchmarks. Important factors are also support and or newer versions in the making, feel of the ROM (they do not look all the same) and for example bonus features also differ. Choose according to your needs.
great idea
some of the top scores were not in blue?? and ones that are tied should be in another color like yellow to show equality. i know you have spent lots of time on this and i don't mean to harp on you, so these are only suggestions.
thanks for the hard work!! this was a great idea. i will look forward to you adding new ROM's.
Farias super clean 3?
Guess I missed something. Where did you find Farias super clean 3 rom? I only can find super clean v1.
BTW: Great idea, I hope somebody will add this list to the wiki
Great work!!!
I've asked myself this question over and over again........... Hahaha but now I see these results I can only say to the COOKIES that they've done a GREAT job for all of us.
That is what matters, our guys even listen and they will sometimes ad some special flavors into a ROM. This development and research goes so fast I even wonder if the developers of HTC come here to see what is going on over here!
Keep up the good work!
Hi there - this really helps to decide which ROM one should take - but what is the cooked rom - I understood that I can no I have to choose whichsoftware I will install - and my understanding is that this takes even more time for the whole process - I liked it for example withe VP3 to simply follow the guide line in the forum and it was done ! Or is the installation provess with the cooked rom also simple ?
Cooked as opposed to straight from the manufacturer ("official").
This is one of the most usefull post's Ive seen in a long time, thanks for your hard work Oh and its crazy but "Faria's Super Clean 3 ROM" is still in the running after all this time! I think that says alot about Faria's work
Tests
Some small tests also here: http://www.ce4you.cz/forums/view_topic.asp?t=23151&fi=0 - this is our czech internal community testing.
About 30 latest ROMs.
In czech language, but main values are universal.
intereting and very useful. Whats more interesting is that I'm using the DOPOD rom as it seems to be the most stable for me. No BSOD or having to reboot all the time to get data connection working again.

Of course it is Faria's v1, number taken from package name (third update).

That is what benchmarks can not show. And stability really is important "feature". I personally have never had SOD with any of the ROMs.
Great Work!! Thank you for quantify this. I've been using Satin medium for over a week now, very stable & not a single lockup with this ROM so far. And it is good to know I'm using one of the fastest around. Thanks again.
Well done - this is excellent
Using this, with my thread here, anyone should be able to decide which ROM they are going to run on their phone, without relying on the eye-candy screenshots that don't really tell you anything
Kudos to you, dude
Smiffy.
i think such a test says nothing. all results are nearly the same, and 119 frames instead of 111, i ont think that i can see that BIG impovement.

Very usefull info thnx!

The Elite Team Proudly Introduce the Elite 1.0 ROM!
This ROM is based on the 1.35 Europe Version from HTC
WM6.1 CE OS 5.2.19588 (Build 19588.1.1.4)
Now, you MUST have HardSPL INSTALLED before you can install this ROM.
(and no i dont know if it works with the dollypro version, as i dont want a $700 brick)
Now back to the issue at hand, i have cleaned out the HTC ROM and removed / changed the following
AutoUpdate (as this will NEVER WORK)
Replaced .Net CF 2.0 with 3.5 (Massive Speed Improvement)
Removed the WelcomeCenter (no one uses it)
Removed the sample music
Tweaked the RAM allocation
Enabled HSUPA (disabled by default)
Enabled the usual SecurityProfiles (RAPI etc)
Removed that (gay) HTC startup jingle
Specs
Free RAM on first boot is 60MB
Free Storage is about 90MB
(and this is only the start of things to come!!)
A speed improvement by at least 30% (i reckon anyway)
Many thanks to the usual crew

i left the gplycache at Auto and the same with the FATFS as i've been testing this for weeks and modifying those values seems to cause some stability issues with the diamiond, so i worked on the RAM allocation and running processes, but this is a work in progress and this is only the first release of MANY!!!
Yes, released sooner than we anticipated.
However, this also means that Hard-SPL Developer Edition will be made available *TODAY*
Thanks for fast reply, working on a rom which uses the gsensor.dll and interfacing this with manila using LUA scripts and XML to create a motion based UI. this project would ultimately become an API or SDK for others. Thanks
just installed..no problems.
device is in config mode..
thanks..
Installed without issues as well. seems fast. I'm not getting the free memory of 60mb, only showing 47mb but I didn't check before activating activesync exchange so that's probably about right.

This would be great if you could......!!!! Or have you already included the change needed????

yes the ROM needs to be HEX edited but it has nothing really to do with the "development" of a ROM .
so when we get HardSPL ready and installed i will show everyone how to hex edit the ROM NBH files and then reflash it so bb connect can be used.

Faster Dell Axim x51v

I am sure that the answer is here somewhere, but I can't find where.
I have an Axim x51v Mobile 5 rom A12 (official ver)
I would very much like to make the device go faster, as fast as possible.
Please tell me what to do.
Overclocking is not an option that i want to risk.
I have no need (that I know of) for Mobile 6.
Thanks,
Jo
You can try a forum dedicated to the X51v at www.aximsite.com to see what tips and tweaks are available to increase performance.
However, making it faster is relative. WM5 without apps installed is fast even with the stock ROM. Having apps running and installing new apps tends to add to the lack of responsiveness of WM5.
You may not have a need for WM6.1 or want a custom ROM, but for now, that's the only way I've found to increase and push the responsiveness of Windows Mobile--WM5 or WM6.1. Makuu & Lenny have done some great optimization to the OS and I've been very happy with my X51v ever since I've upgraded to their ROMS (tried WM5, WM6 or WM6.1).
Thanks
I have been thru aximsite and didn't really find what I was looking for, meaning a quick and easy way. You are correct that I have loaded it up and that is really my problem.
Where can I find Makuu & Lenny's tweaked OS?
Also, I have seen mention og football's ROM. Is it worth it?
Thanks,
Jo

They are all good but with different customizations. All are based off of Football's work. I prefer Makuu's. His edition has all the software I use (rltoday, TCPMP, VGA Mode, etc). Your preference may be different. You can try them all for a couple of days. I use Sprite Backup 6.2 to restore all my programs and settings on every ROM change (I just hate reinstalling everything). I'm sure if I install everything fresh, my Ax will respond better but it's fast enough right now.
Thanks very much.
I will give each a try and see what happens.
Now I just have to have the time to do it.
Greatly appreciate.

Look in Start>Settings>System>Power>Processor and set to "Maximun Performance" rather than the default "Auto". Then you will have 624 MHz speed at all times, rather than throttling down to as low as 104 - at the expense of battery life of course. (If WM5 doesn't have this, then right there is a good reason to go to WM6 - I upgraded to WM6.1 the day I got my x51v so I don't know if this setting is there in WM5)
That was actually the first setting that I set when I got my Axim two years ago.
Thanks
You may have some success by setting the glyphcach value higher in the registry, by turning menu animations off, and a few little things like that. Try the latest football ROM, or Lenny's forthcoming L10 rom. I goofed around with both and compared to WM5 A012 official which I still flash every once in a while to put the awsomeness of the new ROMS into perspective and they were way way faster. If I had never flashed WM6 i would never have believed the device could run so fast!
Upgrading to a WM6 or WM6.1 ROM has a dramatic effect on the speed and stability of my X51V and I speak from using these ROMs since the beginning of this year. Well worth a try, just make sure you select a ROM thats for your specific unit and that you follow all of the directions from the site you get the ROM from.
I went for Lenny's rom and am very happy.
I recommend it.
Though there is one issue,
My battery life has gone down drastically.
Any ideas?
Thanks.

I have the x51v but while going thru the forums i noticed that there are x50 versions.

Adding Theme/New ROM

Hey guys this isnt my first time flashing my device but ive run into a little problem:
I flashed my HTC diamond before to the Gen.Y D2 R5.5 ROM. After I had to return my device for warranty so i flashed it back to the original Rogers Rom and Radio.
I got my new device and now ive been looking at these few ROMS or themes or w/e u want to call them:
|6.5.5|WWE| ★ Energy Series (23563/21899) ★ |Apr 21| Sense 2.5 ! - GTX Themed is what i want to put on my phone if i put this ROM
GTX Sense 2.5 - (looks beautiful but i can see its cancelled and is continued by the lower ROM chef)
[PRJ] [THEME] [Prev] GTX Sense 2.5 Theme - Continuation of development - Continuation of the above one and is so nice but I dont know how to add it since its a theme and not a rom. Also how do i put it if i just got my diamond straight from Rogers.
I would like to put the last of the 3 but Im not sure how since it isnt a ROM so can someone please tell me step by step?
Also if I want to put the first one as well is all i need to do again do flash it with signed hardspl 1.93...and then upgrade the radio and put that rom? Because I tried to use hardspl signed 1.93 but it doesnt show anything in the folder but a .nbh file and no custom ruu app inside.
All help is greatly appreciated
Thank
sorry guys i just needed the hardspl developers version i was using the signed version
