Tried the 'g' hack to get recognised on wifi G only networks and now my wifi won't connect to anything.
Uninstalled the cab from add/remove programs, but I'm still stuffed.
Can anyone help with a suggestion or the original registry values for the wifi?
I originally did it via the hack compiled in cab form, then manually set the registry via the msmobiles site, then tried another suggestion - only joy I have is seeing but being unable to connect to any network.
Before it was 'fussy' anyhow, not wanting to connect to some networks and I was hoping to improve it's connectivity to include those set to G only.
Help...
Try hard resetting your phone, this should restore the original settings fully and it should work again.
Tried that, no difference. Also after hard reset (0) my boot loader splash screen is still the same (customised) and I am now unable to upgrade the rom it seems. Tried what I did before, only switching to the CE from my original O2 rom, and it examines device ok, disconnects it ok, restarts it when the device boots up and the rom upgrade utility sits at 'do not turn off' doing nothing....
Update, put device into boot loader mode, flasher now worked, re wrote the rom and setup again, now wifi works again. Long way round hey, even hard reset didn't work!
just as you get one thing working correctly...something else f***s up!!
just went to check some mails and now my GPRS settings don't work.
I've not changed anything, or messed with connections...it's just stopped working.
followed the instructions on the t-mobile website...but still no GPRS connection. Just nothing happens..doesn't even try to conect and tell that I have a username or password incorrect..just does nothing but tell me that the current connection cannot be used for your request.
wtf??
Can anyone let me know where I can find step by step instructions to get this set up?
many thanks
even worse...if I try to access anything while connected by wifi....the same message!!
the current connection cannot be used for your request!!...
URGENT HELP PLEASE
Just about had enough and thought about a hard rset....better back yo first though right?....and now active snyc wont recognise my device....could it get any worse???
Hmm is this a HTC Artemis or T-Mobile MDA Compact III? if its the later the hardware is not fitted for WiFi so that option won't work.
When my device is playing up in this way (which it does at least once a week) I simply soft reste the device by poking the stylus in the reset hole. Being a soft reset it doesn't wipe any data or settings - I wold start with a soft reset and see what happens next - Mike
You could try deleting your connections and the installing a tmob connection cab which shoudn't be too hard to find on this site.
This is one particular bug I,ve not yet had the pleasure of, but I can appreciate what a pain it is.
Do you have a backup that works?
well...I'm having a nightmare!!!!!!!
hard reset the phone (nothing seemed to be going my way)
someone on here told me that I could save a copy of pim.vol and then replace this back onto my machine and I would have all my contacts back....sadly not..if you try to copy this file back you just get a sharing violation!! I'll be making a comment about this in the post where it was suggested!!
so, might have to spnd the next few hours adding my contacts back in.
NEXT....to try to fix the sync problem I upgraded to 4.5 (as suggested by the MS website) ....that screwed my PC up well and proper!!...everytime I tried to connect my PC usage went to 100% and nothing worked!!
so had to search for my original CD and go back to 4.2 which seems to be ok now.
I do have a back up that I made a few days ago...just a little concerned that it will put back all the issues I had in the first place, as I'm not sure when I lost my connection stuff.
what a complete nightmare tody!!
try to restore, at least you will get you contacts back which I am sure though I can't point you at it, there are other ways of backing up.
Just finished restoring my backup from a few days ago.
Got my contacts back which was one of the main things.
then had to set up a new connection with active sync (now called PC2, how do I delete PC1???)
anyway..everything is back to normal..including my GPRS and wifi working...
happy man now...
Cool.
Just open AS on your PC, click file and you will see an option to delete a partnership.
Hi there
The first time that I have attempted to perform the upgrade to a cooked rom and everything has gone horribly wrong.
A reset (using the pin hole) gives a blank display. Nothing at all.
A hard reset (using pin hole and soft keys) gives the option to perform hard reset by pressing Yes. This then gives HTC logo screen and then system hangs after displaying
IPL 3.13.0001
SPL 1.11.0000
I can go into bootloader screen (pressing two side buttons) and can connect USB. When I try to install factory ROM or any cooked ROM it stops at 2% and gives me an error saying
Error 228 - Invalid File Size
Is there anything I can do to save my device?
Please help.
are you sure that you have the right factory rom?
must be the one that was on your device when you bought it!
had the same problem! flashing with original rom solved it!
Yes - this is the WM5 rom that I had orginally before upgrading to WM6.
Bricked P3300
try and remove the minisd card
that must be the cause
cheers

Bootloader is not just by pressing two buttons. Press both the buttons and make a soft-reset. When the tri-color screen appears, connect to USB and perform the ROM upgrade again. If it fails, perform the upgrade with a factory ROM. This will bring back your device to working condition.
Next time before flashing, make sure you have applied Hard SPL once.

Carty..
Hi guys,
Can I hard reset my kaiser without f**king up android??
Thx
Depends on what you mean "without f*cking up". Why do you need to hard reset? What would you like to keep?
I'm running nand flash and when I flashed a new boot screen, the thing wouldn't boot and I cant be bothered to copy and reflashing all over again.
A hard reset will not change the boot, if you are unable to boot you will have to reflash i'm afraid. Actually I'm not even sure if a hard reset even works, might try it just to see what happens....... might be a whole new experience
However a splash screen flash should not affect the boot, it writes a different area of the nand flash, unless the nbh was not intended for kaiser, in which case anything could happen, including a real chance of bricking.
If you can still access the bootloader screen, then you can still flash nbh's via usb, you just have to use the KaisercustomRUU.exe and an nbh renamed to RUU_Signed.nbh in a temp folder on your pc.
The process is easy enough if you have flashed custom WM roms before, just make sure you disable activesync first, put it in bootlaoder, connect usb lead, run the exe and it should flash just the same as usual.
Screen got broken when I pulled the phone out of my pocket today and pressed the power-button to activate the screen (power button has been a bit strange, so I've had to push it quite hard every now and then to get any response). Now, since the screen doesn't respond to anything at all, and the phone is locked (w/ PIN), I can't use Sony PC companion to do a backup and factory reset before I hand the phone over to the store to either get a new / get it fixed.
Is there any way to do a backup of the internal memory card and then do a full wipe / factory reset?
It's not that important if I can't back up the phone; all images should be on my dropbox, but I'd like to do a factory reset / full wipe incl. internal memory before I hand the phone over to the store.
Got stock rom (newest for NO/scandinavia) w/ root, if that should matter at all.
If I remember correctly, USB debugging is enabled, but to use Sonys' software I must unlock the phone to back it up, which I can't atm.
Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.
Managed to reset the phone with Sony PC companion, so problem solved, but still curious; is there a way to do a backup of the internal memory in the same situation?

Check out an article I wrote recently. It may help you out. http://webanditstudio.com/recover-data-android-device-broken-screen/
Thanks for the tip. Seems like a smart solution, will definitely get one of those adapters. To late for this time around as I wiped all the data with Sony PC companion before handing the phone over to the service center, but might be useful for an eventual next time.
