Question Can you update to miui14 officially - Xiaomi Poco F3 / Xiaomi Mi 11X / Redmi K40

Recently I've been having terrible battery life and I've read that people are having better experience after updating to miui 14. Is there an official way to do that, because I still have one year left of warranty and I really don't want to unlock bootloader.

Unlocking the bootloader does not void the warranty and you can re-lock it after flashing.
Mi Unlock and Miflash are official Xiaomi tools.

Bootloader unlock problems?

Hello,
I bought a 64gb version throw gearbest and they installed a vendors version 7.3.14.0.0 not oficial rom. With defeats the purpose of the bootloader being locked.
I want to install the original miui 8 china or miui 8 from xiaomi.eu.
If I unlock my bootloader by submitting the request to xiaomi what I lose? What are the disavantages?
Does the fingerprint reader works on a bootloader unlocked phone with official miui 8 china?
Does it work with xiaomi.eu rom?
What are the features that cease to work with an unlocked bootloader with these two roms?
If I install xiaomi.eu rom without unlock the bootloader using Doom Slayer method I must not update by OTA or I will brick it, right?
And oficial miui 8 can I update by OTA?
Sorry for these questions but is my first xiaomi with locked bootloader and don't want to screw up by not knowing the consequences of each method?
Thanks in advance

The fingerprint will work. But Find phone will not work and it will not be secure. But your phone will be less secure like if gets stolen anybody can flash firmware and you will be loser. With find my phone nobody could even flash firmware . I have got permission within 2 days for unlocking but i have not done but i have flashed chinese firmware by using miflash. the link is here http://en.miui.com/thread-326039-1-1.html. it is very safe that way.

Security is not about flashing, is about protecting your data. Encryption makes phone more secure, not locked bootloader. We have ways to flash whatever we want with locked bootloader... how about that? Do you still fil secure?
Thank you both,
@seking for what I could understand this is the xiaomi.eu rom with even more stuff, right?
Do you have the helium version?
For that rom you just need the miflash to flash the rom via fastboot, right?
This is different from the Doom Slayer method because with it we fastboot the TWRP recovery and then use it to flash the xiaomi rom.
@nijel8, that is my question also the locked bootloader doesn't add security, gearbest flashed a custom rom even with it locked, so the security reason isn't a valid one.
Partition encrypting is only available when the bootloader is locked? If so that is one feature that is gone with unlocking.
If one unlock the bootloader can later lock it again?
With the bootloader locked we can't use miflash tool to flash fastboot rom, right? Only using EDL, and even then from what I could understand the system and data partition need to be formatted and that removes the encryption...
I just want to get rid of a rom that I don't know what is it and install a oficial rom or a rom from good sources like xiaomi.eu
After replace my rom can I update it by OTA or after I must update only by fastboot ot TWRP?
Thanks again
Bootloader status has nothing to do with encryption. Encryption always is a user option in any ROM... Not sure about MIUI though b/c they enforce encryption on both system and userdata partitions in ramdisk fstab so no user choice as far as I know. And yes... You can always lock bootloader back but will loose your data in process.
Not going to answer the second set of questions (see my signature ) not b/c I don't know but b/c never done it myself so yeah...
mi max is comparatively new phone. there are notnmany roms. development still new. therefore be careful of what you flash. for hardbrick solving we have to open the back cover which is risky. i have taken the safe mthod of not unlocking it. i flashed the rom on the locked rom with miflash via EDL. one can always flash the official rom through twrp and you will be safe.
Thanks a lot you two.
Trying to get the most information before doing something wrong.
Don't worry... Mi Max poves to be die hard phone...

Does unlocking the bootloader voids my warranty?

Hi!
Just a quick question:
Does unlocking the bootloader on Xiaomi Mi6 voids my warranty, even if I would relock the booloader and flash it to stock ROM & Factory Reset?
I do not own the Xiaomi Mi6 right now, but this would be very useful to know, as I'm considering buying this device.
I did found this post on the MIUI forums, which seems to be a an official reply, but I think the answere is somewhat vague, can somebody please clarify it for me?
Does somebody has any experience about if Xiaomi actually cares as long as the bootloader is relocked, and stock rom is flashed correctly, before sending a device for warranty repair?
hi.. I Will try to answer..
- unlocking your bootloader Will void your warranty
- if you are in Global Stable and trying to flash Global developer throught updater app, it wont work.
you have to flash Global developer Rom with fastboot Rom with miflash tool throught edl mode.
other methode is.. flash MIUI Global developer 6.8.18 first throught updater app then flash the latest Global developer.. (I dont think this Will work with all user)
- its not possible to root without unlocking your bootloader
if you are worry about your warranty..
Xiaomi are user friendly..
just flash Global Stable Rom throught miflash tool with flash all. it Will give you clean flash installation. It Will re-locked your bootloader, lose root acces and lose custom recovery/TWRP.
about service center..
I Will avoid going to service center..
as long it is about firmware problem, bootloop (softbrick) or dead state (hardbrick). I Will solve it personally..
(they can take long time to repair your device, 1 week up to 3 month)
for Kenzo (Snapdragon or Qualcomm) users
you can recover your softbrick phone with miflash tool.
for hardbrick phone ..
you can use
1. deep flash cable or
2. test point methode
adding more info..
- flashing custom Rom, custom recovery, custom kernel Will void your warranty.
- you can flash other official MIUI Rom type (from Global Stable to Global developer or event to China version) without unlocking your bootloader. just use miflash tool and enter edl mode
- flashing official MIUI Rom throught miflash tool with edl mode (locked bootloader) will not void your warranty
if you are afraid about flashing custom Rom..
Dont be afraid..
- read alot before flashing, the thread ussualy provide solution for the problem
- if you get get stuck, softbrick etc, etc.. while flashing custom Rom or kernel
just flash official MIUI Rom with miflash tool..
recover your phone first, then.. back to square one, follow the step given by the thread on how to flash custom Rom.
PS : I'm not trying to explain about the warranty. I'm encouraging you to explore your phone. if your phone is for daily use.. you dont have to unlock your bootloader.
I'm Kenzo users, MIUI China developer 6.9.29
unlocked bootloader, root, flash xposed, radon kernel, Magisk v6, zcx TWRP and flash audio modification (viper Atmos +audio +beat)
hope it Will enlighten you..

Question POCO F3 Warranty

If I use ADB to remove bloatware on the F3, will I lose my warranty? Is the Xiaomi ADB official (from Xiaomi)? Do I also lose my warranty if I unlock the bootloader and install a custom ROM? If not does Xiaomi say so on their website? What is the difference between using ADB and just deleting them manually? Thanks!
You will not use your warranty by using adb to remove bloatware. However you do waver your warranty by unlocking the bootloader to put a custom ROM on it. However you can theoretically still get a replacement despite this wavering of a warranty

Thanks! What do you mean theoretically? Can I just install MIUI again and lock the bootloader and sent it for warranty, without them finding out that I unlocked it?

You should be find. I have never had a Xiaomi and so didn't know how supportive they are. The official advice by Xiaomi is here:
What do you need to know about unlocking?
First and foremost you can only unlock your own device. This means the unlocking tool you downloaded must be logged in with the same Mi account on your device. One Mi account could only unlock one device within 30 days
Isn't locking bootloader against Mi's 'geek' spirit?
Locking bootloader is aimed to provide a better user experience, which we've been trying to do the whole time. In the meantime, we've provided an unlocking tool for senior users who know their ways around flashing and tweaking their devices.
The unlocking procedure will need Internet access to get the unlocking password. Also, the Mi Account logged in on the Mi phone and the unlocking tool needs to be the same. Otherwise, the unlocking request will be denied. This will ensure that ill-intentioned people will not get access to your personal data.

Question Tmobile OnePlus 9 Pro Unlock/Root

Hi all. I'm thinking about purchasing a oneplus 9 pro, via tmobile. I know traditionally speaking you have to pay off your phone to network unlock, and then request an unlock token from oneplus to be able to root the device. I havent snooped around the forums here much for this device. Is there currently a way to root the phone without having to do all the pre-req crap normally required. Is there a way to unlock bootloader like there was with oneplus 7T via MSM tool or similar? I don't perticularly care about SIM unlock, just bootloader. Thanks!
Hi, you have to sim unlock inorder to bootloader unlock

OnePlus phones are easy to root as compared to a few other brands. And since there is a flash tool available for OnePlus phones, you can take risks for rooting your phone. You can use the flash tool to fix your phone in case of any issue. Rooting is not an easy task, but Magisk app makes it easier if you follow the correct steps. But you cannot directly root your phone by default. So first we will share how to unlock bootloader of OnePlus 9 (Pro).

If all you want to do is root/ROM your phone, then you don't need to "unlock your phone". You just need to "unlock your bootloader" which is something different and not hard.
My phone is still SIM-locked but I have rooted it and installed Havoc OS ROM.
To unlock the bootloader, this app should do the trick.
