Question Phone switching lens faster when hot - Google Pixel 6 Pro

Today I noticed the lens switching being super fast, the battery was at 45.2 degrees celsius, later it cooled down by just stopping using it and it started to switch slow as usual, is this normal?

40 degrees Celsius?

My Galaxy Nexus often increases its heat to around 42 degrees Celsius (108 fahrenheit) constantly with minimal use (light 2D gaming for about 5 minutes), surfing the app store and playing around with the menus for a 10 minutes. I have installed the battery monitor widget application (free) which tells me everything and gives a timeline of different temperatures the phone reaches.
Constantly the phone is 30 degrees Celsius (86 Fahrenheit) and above, even during minimal use of apps (only running one app at a time, I selected the phone to only use 2G networks and it has no data plan).
This seems very very hot for a phone. My Galaxy S2 doesn't get past 28 degrees celsius (82 fahrenheit) under very heavy use whilst on 3G. My HTC Mozart is the same as the Galaxy, it barely gets above this temperature. Is the Nexus supposed to get this hot?
So far my battery life is set at 17 hours battery life with minimal phone/texting on 2G (literally 2 text messages and 1 phone call per day), 30 minutes of light 2D gaming and zero music or videos being played. There are no programs running in the background and the brightness is set at 40% or below.
EDIT: Even on standby without use for hours the phone has NEVER gotten below 26 degrees celsius (78 fahrenheit) .
I'm hoping someone could share info on the heat of their devices/the normal range of heat that these kinds of devices should be putting out. It sounds interesting that this much heat can actually be created, more elaboration would be better though.
bumping for answers for op.
I noticed a dramatic difference in the temperature from my evo 4g. Some potential causes:
* high stock voyages (there is a great thread in the Dev section about uv kernels)
* when running modaco's brightness patch it got worse for me.
* since it happens with the screen off, it is probably not tht...

What's your ambient temperature?
Absolute temperature doesn't tell us much, what's useful is the delta between device temp and ambient temp.

The room temperature is air conditioned around 18 to 25 degrees celsius (64F to 77F). The phone should not be hitting above this range, especially on standby. It should not reach 40 degrees Celsius whilst texting/app surfing on 2G.
Same issue here.
My Nexus One's battery is at 24C (plugged in, not charging).
And by GNex's battery is at 37C (plugged in, charging)
Okay 37 is fine but 42 is not :/
right now I have flashed a few roms and am browsing tapatalk.. at 34 Celsius. Just applied my undervolts though so we will see

Mine increase more than 42c when using too.
Just bought the phone and mine seems to overheat too much... going to buy a case....
Battery says 46 degrees cel...
also i noticed on galaxy nexus it get too hot around the camera on the back and the earpiece on the front.
noticed the problem mainly when in an area with weak reception. or while charging the phone even with good reception.
its something with the radioROM or hardware.
any suggestions??!!
normal
Its normal! 76F when not in use 90-101 in use 101-120 with charger and using . I called Samsung . My euro gs2, at&t gs2 and my skyrocket all have the same temps remember this is a very thin plastic phone with battery right there behind tiny plastic cover . Think of it like this dose ur computer get hot when u use it?? ? Have u ever even thought bout that? No cause ur not holding it in ur hand .
+1
This is a dual core phone, it is going to run hot because it's a dual core processor with no cooling other than dissipation. It's not a problem unless your phone is actually crashing because of it. I've seen mine get up to 46C during long periods of gaming/charging.
I expect the hardware has been developed to tolerate these temperatures or we'd see a lot more "my phone overheated and now it's a brick" posts or even "my phone exploded into flames" posts. Have only seen a couple of the former and none of the latter.
Running hot after root, rom and maybe 'incorrect charger'
So like others here my GSM version Galaxy Nexus phone is quite hot at the top right corner back and front, near the camera. Only when the screen is on. Battery drops very rapidly too.. like 1% every 30-45 seconds...
This heat is brand new. I recently rooted and romed the device after the recent ICS update cause signal loss when the screen was off. I tried AOKP, various kernals and have now returned to the original backup of android 4.0.2. The heat continues with the screen being on, through all of this. Doing nothing, wifi connected... just on. Screen off no issues. No apps are installed except stock. Default Kernal again.
I also noticed i plugged the phone in with my blackberry playbook charger at the same time as all of this. The specs on that are playbook charger output is 5V @ 1.8A..
I notice a few other people posting about this so want to know if this might be rom related somehow, or if perhaps ive done something to the hardware from the charger. I've tried a spare battery that was not used with the charger at all and the heat continues.
There was no heat at all like this before this last 24 hours so its not 'normal use'. Promise Hope someone has some possible suggestions to try
Mine is at 31 right now.. listening music and xda... if play games it goes to ~35 if I plug it in it gets hotter than 40...

Optimus G(E975) Heat Issues - 105F on basic surfing/music?

Hi guys,
I've had an Optimus G (E975) for about a month now. I have started noticing that the phone has tended to run quite hot recently and am wondering if any other users have this issue.
For example, if I am listening to the radio (TuneIn Radio), and surfing on Chrome on 3G connection. The temperature has gone up to 105F according to AndroSensor - the phone also gets quite hot to touch as well. This is also with Ecomode turned on. What I have now noticed is that even surfing the web (non-flash based websites) the temperature can already reach close to 100F. Is this normal or is there a defect internally? I am still within my warranty period and am wondering if I need to return the device.
I have read reviews stating even with heavy gaming, users have not seen battery temps go above 100F, can anyone shed any light on this issue?
I can post screenshots of AndroSensor if necessary. Currently running Android 4.1.2.
Thanks in advance.
do you live in a hot area? most of these tests are done in an ambient temp of 24* celcius and yes where i live ( moscow ) it tends to get to 36 degrees celcius and the annoying unable to increase brightness still comes up.

Higher temperature on Android 5.0?

Hi Everyone,
Just wondering how your Nexus 7 runs under the new OS? I notice my device getting higher temperature than before, especially when playing some games. For example, with CPUTEMP and Smash Hit, CPU's temp was around 50-55C on Kitkat but now it is 65-75 on Lollipop.
Would be great if someone can run the same test and see if you get high temperature on this game.
Thanks
I can attest to this myself. I use the same app (on a N5 and N7) and I've noticed that the feel in the hand, while doing normal stuff with the same usage pattern, seemed hotter than normal. So I launch the CPUTEMP app and run the overlay, put the N7 to sleep for 15 minutes to idle. Temp starts around 36 C when first turning on the screen, then it ramps up to 44 - 50. Then while actually using the device, (e.g. surfing the web, email, basic stuff) the temps will go up to the 50s and 60s easily. If I leave it at rest on the homescreen after using the tablet, it idles around the low to mid 40s. While video chatting online with someone (hangouts / skype / etc) it will ramp up to 70s, then 80s, and finally cap out at 95 C. (5 degrees before S4Pro SoC maximum?) A video chat will last 2 - 2.5 hours on a fully charged battery, and the heavy SoC throttling affects the frame rate / responsiveness of both my front / back camera preview during vid chat and the entire OS. Downloading an app or two brings the temp 55 - 61, and then installing them (due to AoT compile) from 61 to 72.
The same goes for my N5 also on Lollipop, to a lesser degree, but nonetheless, it runs higher average temps than I noticed while running KitKat. Both devices appear to drain battery quicker on Lollipop, especially during use. That's not even considering LTE / mobile data use, since these days I'm here at home using WiFi all the time.

Yes. You are correct. Even i face the same issue. The device gets heated even on playing candy crush / angry birds which was not the case with kitkat 4.4.4.

[Q] Considering on purchasing the z5 premium

As the title states I am thinking on making a purchase for the z5 premium. My question is fast forward to about a year, how has the phone been holding up on a day to day use? Heating issues still occur? Worse, same, better? Battery life has taken a a hit? Are you satisfied with whenever you've purchased the z5 premium from day 1 at launch or recent purchase? How's the image quality on the camera performance? Any other info on how the z5 premium is doing since you purchased it is greatly appreciated. Thanks
Im completely happy with the phone performance, bought in November 2015 (just when launched). Battery still good, if I dont game too much, almost two days depending if at home with wifi or at work with 4g and elevators (loss of signal) several times a day, but always at least the whole day. It heats only with 3D heavy games or during the summer if you use it a lot outside, but always usable. Video recording stopped once while driving in a mountain road because of the sun, at summer. I recommend the phone and a case because I broke the display with a small drop (search for my post for further explanation xD). The camera is very good for the use I give to it

Thank you for the info. Sounds good I will probably be going forward with the purchase. Only thing that gets me worried is using the phone outside in the sun as you said it's gets hot. I live in vegas so it gets pretty got here lol but luckily it's already cooling down so i should be okay.
I too am considering buying it..what is the screen on time ? And how fast is the charging and fingerprint reader ?
The Screen on time, today for example has been 3 hours and 3/4 of the battery gone, but I've moving in the car and using 4G data a lot, so other days it is higher (I usually don't look a it, I'm happy just if the phone reaches the end of the day after high usage because I don't watch a lot of videos or movies, but I turn the screen on a lot of times due to instant messaging). I don't like the screen very dim during the day and I've it always above 50%, so it last less for me than for others I think.
The charging is fast, it comes with a fast charger but not the fastest available, and the battery comes to 60-70% quite fast (I haven't measured the time taken), and from 90-100 it takes a lot more time, but I think this is normal for such big batteries. When charging from low percentages, you have the feeling that it is going quite fast.
The fingerprint reader works really cool and fast, as long as you have it clean and no sweat in the fingers. In summer I've had to clean the sensor (with the t-shirt for example) and/or the fingers due to high temperatures (above 40º in Spain a lot of days), but in a more "normal" wheather and environment, it usually works always at first try, I'm very satisfied with it.
About getting hot, it does but the phone always works and you only feel it very very warm after gaming with heavy games for a while. For the normal use of the phone usually it is comfortable to use althoug you can feel it warm if using Google Maps or similar things outside when its hot. The heat usually can be felt in the back, and if you hold it on the sides you don't notice. I sense the screen hot when using a racing game called Real Racing 3, and as you control the game with the fingers if you desire, after a while the screen becomes very hot. No other scenario have made the phone really hot.
I've to add that the screen is very very nice, the definition and max brightness are superb. When viewing 4K content, if you compare with the same image at 1080, you notice the details, and 4K video seems complete real. I recommend watching this sample http://4ksamples.com/4k-chimei-inn-60mbps/.
The sound is very cool, when on noisy enviroments the volume it is not very high, but the double front speakers sounds very nice even for music (no metal can sound).
I hope I've answered you doubts
My SOT is around 5 hours, but that's with screen dimmed.
I don't think it's terrible, but it's short, but I'm always considering this phone being 4k sceen, we have no choice.
It's just good feeling to have 4k view capable phone. It could also be smallest 4k screen now?

Do you feel screen is better than a regular full HD screen when comparing with other phones?
I can compare it with a S6 and S7 because of relatives that have those and I don't see differences (apart from excessive colors of Samsung phones). You won't be able to see any pixel, the angles are almost 180º and the brigthness is very high (only in the street with a high sun you will have problems, like any other phone) and the low limit for the night is great also.

Galaxy S9 Temperature

Hello, I have the S9 for almost a week now and i think its getting hot sometimes with just a normal use (facebook, internet etc. not gaming). Whats the ideal temperature is should have. i think its getting warm on the upper screen and a little on back at camera place. While charging is a little bit warm but i think its normal. Should i send it for a test or getting a bit warm is normal?

Have you looked at the battery or CPU temperature for your phone? I'm wondering this too about my own. I sit at around 85 F (29.4 C) while it is in my pocket. It gets down to 72 F (22.2 C) while on the table. That's about the room's temperature.
Definitely getting warmer during certain use than my S8+ ever did (I remember noticing that it pretty much never got hot) or even my Note 8.
I have an Exynos version though so probably has something to do with how inefficient it is when the cpu ramps up.
Haven't noticed any warming on normal use. When gaming, yes specially pubg. Not too much coc.
SD variant.
Is it about 22,5C CPU temperature when not used, its the same with rooms temperature. after 15 mins of use for example scrolling on FB it reaches 35C both battery and CPU (from AIDA64). Battery also drains fast. Last night 30 mins of scrolling on FB lost 10. Screen brightness is always less than half. and only WiFi and sync are enabled. AOD disabled. Bixby button and bixby home page disabled. While sleeping also battery loses about 8-10%. Yesterday with 15 mins driving with google maps the screen was burning.

Honestly, i would recommend it. Even the plus. For me tho carrying more than one phone for work and stuff it got old having the s8+. But for the s9, man the stereo speakers sound great. Much better than last yr but of course they werent stereo so diff is noticeable. As for pubg, i really have messed with resolution and looks great i think im on fhd. While playing tho the s9 does warm up, havent checked exact temp but its noticeable. Cant say if it does the same on the s9+. Hope someone can confirm.
I look at it this way, like having a macbook air for gaming vs a macbook pro, the air will make more noise and warm up vs the pro.
