Is the absolute volume bug fixed?

At long last the June update has been released for the regional devices for Europe on CSC codes EUX & EUY.

Update available for me. Anyone noticed a difference in battery life? Really happy with the battery I have now. On the Pixel 7 Pro, it varied widely between great to terrible depending on what update you were on.

Yes any updates on battery life or VPN issues on the Fold 4 would be greatly appreciated.
I've held off on updating for a few months now.
Thanks!

I decided to update anyway. Will post an update on battery life in a couple of days.

Updated in the morning to June patch (EUX). VPN works, battery life much better than May update, at least so far.

Thanks a lot for your reply!
Glad to hear that VPN works! By any chance are you using OpenVPN?
Glad to hear that battery life is better too! Please report back any further battery observations.
Thanks!

To be clear, with this update the phone also lags a lot less for me. I was about to switch to S23U because of unbearable lag with May update. VPN worked with May update for me too, so no change here.

I hadn't heard that the Fold 4, May update had lag issues at all. Wow, thanks for sharing. Was it noticeable only when you were pushing the phone hard, or could it be noticed with everyday, normal use as well?
Would you say the June update has resolved the lag issue, or is it still noticeable?
Thanks!

It was all over the place, I barely ever game (and then, 5 year-old titles). Mostly work with browser and documents. Looks removed to me now. Like new

According to this post on Samsung's forums this doesn't impact all devices, the poster guesses it only affects buds. What type of buds/headphones/Bluetooth receiver are you using?
I'm still on the February patch since I didn't dare to update yet since this issue would strongly impact my routine..

T-mobile here, not received June patch yet.......however, the one for May has caused my battery life to drain and the device hot off and on since the update.

I've got the Buds 2 pro powerboats pro buds live Sony wf1000xm4 Sennheiser momentum 2 and the BTR7 every true wireless earbud has the issue with absolute volume the btr7 is fine though.

I give up on Bluetooth until they fix it I bought a
HiBy FC1 portable dac for £30 it does the job bit of a pain using wired headphones but at least I can use my EQS with power amp in the car with the AUX and with my IEMS.
I did ask CS about it and they said they would look into it. The Samsung repair centre I left my z flip 4 in to get the screen fixed looked at it and did say yes that looks like a bug he had a fold 3 on the May update using the buds 2 pro it was working fine for him

Well, that really doesn't sound encouraging. I have Momentum 3 over ears, but also occasionally use the Galaxy Buds 2 (non-Pro). Seems like I'll stay on Feb patch for a bit longer..

Has anyone received the January Security Update via OTA?

So it's now January 18th and I've yet to receive the security update for January. Has anyone received it, via OTA?
Quite frankly I'm surprised that Google can be so late pushing it out given that there are probably not even 250,000 people who bought the thing.
Wouldn't surprise me if Google are holding off on it until a massive update is ready to fix/help other issues
Google will be lucky if 25,000 people bought the thing AND kept it.

not sure they care about sale numbers.
Like previous Pixel devices, it's mainly for done for internal usage, PR, aura, showcase, exploring, reference platform, etc. And to acquire knowledge on how to build such devices.
The fact that they sell it to anyone is a just a bonus for fans and tech enthusiasts.

interesting point. it would explain the lack of testing. but it does not explain the web site or many of the AMA answers or the AMA itself. google is certainly getting well deserved training on the return process with this device.

Typically the images are posted to the developer website before any OTAs go out. No updated image has been posted (other than MXB48K, which we know isn't a January update), so I wouldn't expect any OTA.

Just bought the Pixel C and it came with 6.0. I haven't been promoted to update to 6.0.1 but I'm wondering if 6.0.1 is the OTA update or if I should just flash the factory image?
Also, is then 6.0.1 update the one that moves the buttons to opposite edges?
Thanks.

Whoa you should have been prompted to update to 6.0.1 right away there's not even a 6.0 factory image.
seems this pixel c was really beyond what they promises to delivered. every 6 weeks for new update. in fact nexus brand can get update almost on time.

Same here. I had a warranty issue with my first Pixel, the replacement they sent me is also on 6.0, with no OTA to 6.0.1.
But honestly it seems to work better.
---------- Post added at 05:17 PM ---------- Previous post was at 04:34 PM ----------
In an attempt to ask Google why my device is still on October Security Patch and no 6.0.1 Update on my warranty replacement Pixel.
So I guess I just had to wait. I avoided flashing the 6.0.1 update since I had already set up my tablet using the "Setup my device" feature through Google Now from my 6P. Last night my Pixel C was prompted to install the 6.0.1 update and updated fine. I'm unsure of what be features are added other than security, but my home and back buttons are moved to the left while recent apps button is on the right. So I guess it worked. That and the fact that under about tablet it says 6.0.1 ha-ha.
It seems to run a bit smoother now so, there's that.
I got the OTA udpate last night. I am in San Diego, CA.
Yesterday I received MXB48T OTA update on my 32GB pixel C. The inconsistent WiFi speeds issues have not been solved.

H933-any news on security update or Oreo??

So, the current Android version and security update I'm on has issues playing hdr on Netflix (everything has a brownish yellow tint). I've watched an hdr movie rental on Google Play store. Not bad, but can clearly see that it's compressed. YouTube works great. But not Netflix. Seen on many Reddit forums that the issue is resolved in the Jan security patch. Which I'm assuming they may be holding off for us Canadiens for the Oreo update.
But I cannot seem to get any solid information about if it's even planned.
Anyone else stuck with the delayed security update?
Oct 1, 2017 yes. You are not alone.

No, it's the December patch. Just got it earlier tonight, on both my open market US998 V30+ and my wife's open US998V30. I turned off my phone on my spare V30, to wait to see the update. I want to see if LG Bridge will offer to update it and maybe download KDZ.

I got this update today as well on V30+ unlocked.
But I hear it fixed the hdr. Yet I'm on the Dec 1 patch, and still have hdr issues with Netflix. Maybe because I received it before the fix mine was not included?
The very, very slow Oreo update release for the V30 (H933) is disheartening. Not like this is a surprise, but it’s still frustrating.
I thought it would be out before the end of Jan. Wait and see in 2 days time if that's true I guess.
I don't care about oreo, but considering that this is their "flagship" phone, such late security patches and updates on Canadian model H933 means this will be my first and last lg phone.
My Lg V30 T-Mobile USA is still on October patch. How disappointing.
I don't know why companies these don't just release one world wide model of the phone. It would streamline updates so much easier.

Because that would cut out the carriers and make the phones less expensive.
Google basically tried that, and so do a few other direct to consumer OEMs. But in North America, apparently people love going to their carrier stores to get ripped off. There are very few phones Sprint will accept that are not Sprint branded phones (and I'm pretty sure exceptions involve the OEMs like Motorola paying Sprint some money, somehow).
Google has to sell Pixel phones in Verizon stores to get any kind of sales traction. Verizon and T-Mobile make it hard for non-branded phones to work well with VoLTE and Wi-Fi calling.
If you could buy the phone from anywhere (and it was the exact same phone), you would buy it off eBay from Chinese dealers. But carriers want their cut. So, they make it difficult. And they want their bloatware put on.
Sent from my official carrier unlocked LG V30+ US998
That's not how it works up here with the 933. Non of the phones are branded. And I think at this point any phone from any carrier can be used on any other carrier. What's more is its now not legal to sell sim locked phones here.
Doing the math with the available plans, its basically either a wash or cheaper to get i from the carriers.
We don't get much if anything as far as cheaper plans are concerned if you bring your own phone.
Any of the small amounts of bloatware we get is easily disabled via the system so not a big deal.

Likely have a bug they need to fix first. Is still expect it in the coming week or so unless Google puts out a statement.
I think it is coming, as 1st Gen Pixels are under security updates support for one more year. Or it is possible that security updates under the bulletin not affect 1st gen devices, but I doubt Google will start to fragment their devices under support.

Is this confirmed?
I'm on September update, never applied the October update, and my battery state has gone from being amazing to super terrible in October.
The phone heats up a lot, the battery doesn't even last few hours without use, and accubattery doesn't show anything out of normal.
Could it be some of the play store updates like google play services and others are causing this?
Like I said I'm on September update and was waiting for the November update to wipe the phone clean and start clean slate, which I hate to do, dreading to reconfigure everything.
Thanks
BB
I went to lineageos 15.1, its.... So good... But looks generic. Battery life is amazing i average 5+ h of SOT
I'm facing weird charging issue with my ORIGINAL charger on my PIXEL XL. I have to restart everytime before I plug the device in for charging. It just doesn't charge on OG charger without a restart.
I hope they are fixing this dumb issue.
Yeah, this has been happening to me too, sometimes when restart doesn't work, i have to charge to 100% on another charger, after that it'll work again. And since last month it finally shows charging rapidly on similarly specced chargers as the original one

Any release notes?
Probably going to update (OTA) the next days. Flashed the russian pie rom and received this OTA. Working fine except for "Smart backlight control" stopping to work (when using USB tethering over a longer period of time, weird). I don't have wifi yet so i need to make sure my mobile internet is enough to try out Torchlight Fronters this weekend, that's something i definily don't want to miss. I'll give feedback if i find anything unexpected in that update.
UPDATE: Disabling Smart background control fixed my issue. Luckily it's not really something neccesary.
i also got the update and installed it. Nothing has changet at UI, i think

Sony certainly decreases the useful life of the batteries via software purposely !!! What's up ???

You're making some pretty harsh accusations, even going so far as to call them "shameless", but without anything to back it up, and even becoming overly defensive after getting called out on it, you come off as just an immature kid spewing nonsense (basically slander) on the internet.
It's perfectly fine to complain about worse battery life after the upgrade. That by itself is valuable input of actual user experiences that adds to the conversation and provides people more perspectives to what may happen after upgrading to Pie.
But to go one step further and claim that the weaker battery life is because of a conspiracy to purposefully cripple your phone in order to get you to go and buy the latest model?
If you have actual evidence indicating that the age old theory is actually true, by all means blow that whistle and tell us.
Otherwise, you're just spreading false information pulled out of your ass instead of contributing to any meaningful discussion. I don't see how you can justify that sort of behavior.
My battery life is just fine since going to Pie. If you don't like it, just roll back to Oreo.
@puiatmp: Why did you purchase a Sony device in the first place, if you despise the company that much?
I don't know if it was mentioned before. The .33 firmware contains Android pie with November security patch:

Yes, they want you to always buy the most current cell phone. just do not see it if you do not want it.
And why I have to be careful. I speak what I think.
Sony certainly decreases the useful life of the batteries via software purposely !!! What's up ???

you are absolutely right, and world is run by aliens as well, lol
fwiw my phones battery lasts a lot more after upgrading to PIE. usually 2-3 days with normal use, including about 2-3 hours voice calls, 1-2 hours internet browsing, usual emails, 1-2 hours gps while driving, approx 6-7 hours SOT . you better check if you have some power hungry apps running at backround. anyway, making such absurd accusations without having anything backing it up is childish and doesn't give anyone anything.
UPDATE: Smart backlight control was the thing making problems. Disabling this fixed my problems. Pie is fast, my battery life seems to be even better than before but Wifi WPS is missing i think or maybe it just got moved somewhere else.

I thought that WPS was being removed in Android due to security concerns. Might be wrong though.

General Manual updates arrive for Pixel Buds A-Series alongside new features "No more just waiting for it to happen on its own"

Manual updates arrive for Pixel Buds A-Series alongside new featuresBY SCOTT SCRIVENSPUBLISHED 1 DAY AGO

Bass boost and loudness compensation are among the latest enhancements
We heard back in February this year that manual firmware updates for the Pixel Buds A-Series were in the works, but it's taken until now for Google to start rolling it out. At the same time, the cheap but cheerful true wireless earbuds also learn a few new tricks, with enhanced bass boost, loudness compensation, and some nifty new device-switching functionality.
Google hasn't officially announced the rollout of manual updates, but our own Daniel Bader noticed the option on his Pixel 6 Pro just today. In the settings for his Pixel Buds A-Series, accessible via the Bluetooth menu, the top menu item now reads "Firmware update available - Tap to start." This leads to a new splash page informing that the update may take up to 15 minutes and that the buds need to be securely placed in the case for the duration.
Unfortunately, it appears as though this new manual update method is rolling out as a server-side change, so even updating the Pixel Buds app to the latest version (1.0.411945615) won't guarantee that you get it yet. After sideloading it (via APK Mirror), I'm still only able to check the automatic update status in the More settings > Firmware update.
Whichever way the latest Pixel Buds A-Series update arrives on your device, version 282 brings with it some interesting tweaks. As we briefly mentioned as part of our Pixel feature drop coverage, the bass boost feature is now improved with a 4-level slider, bass and treble can be adjusted at lower volume with 'Loudness compensation,' and the buds will now more intelligently switch between devices. If they can't find the last device they connected to, they'll automatically search for the next-last when they're taken out of the case, which could save you some faffing. Google says you'll be asked to allow the 'Nearby devices' permission with the new update, just in case you wonder why that pops up.
Look out for the latest update to both the buds and the app over the next few days.

No more just waiting for it to happen on its own
Google's latest Pixel Buds were pretty polarizing when they landed last year, months after their announcement. Like them or hate them, one feature has been almost universally resented: The fact that updates are an automatic process with no user control. They just kind of happen while the buds are connected, and you can't do much to speed up the process. But according to a recent teardown, manual updates may soon be possible.
A teardown of the latest version of the Pixel Buds app, performed by 9to5Google earlier today, revealed a handful of new strings buried inside the app, which point to a manual update feature under development. It's early, and the particulars are always subject to change when it comes to teardowns, but the new feature could be as simple as a button you tap to trigger the update process for a pair of connected Pixel Buds.
Based on the details divined so far, the option will appear in the Settings app on Pixels, while other devices will get it in the Pixel Buds app itself. Error support via a notification is also present, indicating if the process runs into trouble.
So far, the feature isn't live yet. It isn't clear if that's because it hasn't rolled out, or if it's simply because the Pixel Buds haven't had an update since September. It looks like that whole "feature drop" thing for the buds didn't quite pan out — or Google hasn't stuck to the same sort of schedule it does for its quarterly Pixel feature drops.

"Manual" update would imply that they offer an update file that can be loaded... *manually* using standard bluetooth firmware update tools. Obviously not going to be the case here.
You guys actually have your buds? I'm still waiting on mine from my Pixel 6 Pro purchase.

Sure do. I ordered on October 19th and received our A-series Pixel Buds (23rd) before we got our phones (27th). I like mine much better than the Samsung Buds+ I had before - mostly because the Buds+ kept falling out of my ears, and I don't think the software was as tightly integrated or smooth with my at the time Note 10+ as the Pixel Buds A-series are with the Pixels.
When did you order your P6P?
I ordered my P6P much earlier, but Google sent me the offer code later, and I didn't see it until NOV 10. I received my comply fit foam tips a while back, but still no movement from the actual buds.

Ah. Aigh. Well, I hope you like them once you get them. I didn't know about Comply fit foam tips. Out of stock in the Google Store Get a 404 error at least on the manufacturer's site for the ones for the Pixel Buds A-series. Ah, they did something weird when I clicked on the link, it had the URL in there several times in a row - correct URL. Interesting and good to know, thanks. Have you had Comply Fit Foam Tips before? Worth it?

Most people swear by them. I've never had device-specific foam tips, but I did by generic ones for my Galaxy Buds Pro... which STILL fall out every few minutes. Extremely frustrating, considering how good they sound.

I had mine on the day after I ordered the phone and I ordered the phone about 5 seconds after they fixed the website on launch day.

Update the app and firmware. Just got the new version without even the December update. Bass controls are pretty sweet.

Agreed. Closest things they got to that is OTA extended control. Specifically the 'build label to apply' seems to imply you're choosing the firmware to use but that's in debug and you need a url TO the firmware, so it's prob for Google Devs
My buds came in with the phone in the same package. Haven't received the update yet. I have tried checking for one and get nothing
