Poco F5
MIUI 14.0.6 TMREUXM
Android Auto 9.4.631624
Car: Škoda Scala
Poco F3 worked flawlessly. F5 fails to connect. Tried different cables.
It correctly detects the phone on the car and prompts me to connect via AA or Mirrorlink.
On the phone, USB connectivity menu appears. I select data transfer / Android Auto.
And then the car tells me it failed.
Is this known? Is is a weird issue with car compatibility?
Any way to make it work by messing with settings?
Seems Android Auto works on EU Rom or other non-official ROMs. Marble doesn't have proper certificate so car's audio component cannot accept pairing and fails to establish a connection in wired mode. It is probably the reason it fails in wireless mode too.
What's "marble"?
Is this a bug that could be fixed by an update or deliberate?
I need to figure out if I should return this phone, as this is serious.
I'm having the same problem.
I am having the same problem. I tried with 3 different cables but the result did not change. I'm thinking of returning it. Incredible problem!!
My car Skoda Scala 2020
I've seen multiple reports associated with android auto,. i have poco f4 gt and getting the same problem right after I upgraded my phone to miui 14 and android 13. they are saying that it's from android 13 version cause all of them getting the issue has Android 13 ,, even in samsung phones and other brands, they are getting the same issue. The only similarity that I noticed is that they all have android 13 on their phone.
I have no experience with the stock rom.
I'm using Xiaomi EU and Android Auto works both wired and wireless mode. Even better than my previous Flip 3

good to know tho,, so aside from android 13 there might be another factor that affects android auto with most devices.
Got a generic reply from support, so it seems they are not really familiar with this or interested.
Please reinstall the latest update package to eliminate possible errors during installation. Settings - About phone - MIUI LOGO - 3 items - Download last update package.
Next, you can also check the functionality of the device in Safe Mode. To enable Safe Mode, you need to turn off your smartphone first, then press the Power Button and Volume Plus at the same time, once the Recovery Menu appears let go of the buttons. In the recovery menu, please select the Safe Mode option.
All third-party apps are disabled in Safe Mode and will not be displayed. If the device works fine, please reboot to exit Safe Mode and boot the device in "Normal Mode". Please then uninstall the last three apps that were installed and check the functionality again.
If the problem persists, reset the device to factory settings. Please note that before you factory reset the device, please backup your data first, otherwise all your data (pictures, videos, music, apps, etc.) will be lost.

I might finally consider custom rom, most likely xiaomi.eu, but I am really hesitant to do this.
There is a lot of uncertainty regarding warranty, and everything working, and conflicting reports about battery life and bugs. Most are seemingly happy, but there are lso reports of it not really working that well.
Or I might return it and wait and see what Nord 3 is priced like.
I know you've said you tried different cables. I was having connectivity issues with Android Auto when my previous phone (Poco F1) had no issues whatsoever.
I've been using an Amazon Basics USB 3.1 cable for a few days now and touch wood, everything is fine. Perhaps the Poco F5 is just very particular about what cables it uses.
Hm..
I suppose it's easier to try with that then to return the phone, though my current cable is 90 degree on one end for practical reasons, and I want a short one.
And some people online are reporting that it works on one car and does not on another, but I don't remember they said it was tested with the same cable.
But I could try. This is like a MUST feature. I would not buy a car without it, let alone a phone.
Though my car is C plug, so I have to try with random cables :/
Android Auto is definitely possible with the proper software. This is definitely a software issue and not a hardware issue. I will revisit this thread once a stable solution (not via custom rom) has been applied. Marble devices (Poco F5/Redmi Note 12 Turbo) should be able to use Android Auto starting from Android 13. Ig we just need to provide some feedback via SocMed so we can be heard.
Same problem with Skoda and Poco f5 pro miui14 latest.
Any known solution to come or throw this phone away ?
You can sell it, don't throw it away.
I might get the Nord 3 if they have an early sale. Though oneplus is allegedly prone to bugs. So I can't be smart about this, just reactionary.
Did you guys try a new cable? I never had problems with my F5 but as I wrote before it happened in the past with another phone and the solution was 1) change the cable 2) unpair the phone/car and pair them again from scratch
It's not the cable. I tried multiple different C-C cables, 2.0 and 3.1. I only have not tried 3.2.
It could be that for some reason it's not standard spec USB, so it does not work with all infotainment systems. There are a few posts about Škoda/VW specifically, but also Honda and some others. My car is USB-C, so maybe for some reason it only works in cars with USB-A?
It could also be MIU14 bug, as there are multiple posts about Xiaomi phones being upgraded to MIUI14 and having these issues, Poco F3 included, and I have that one, works fine with MIUI13. But it's again not all users of the same model, just some.
In my case, it definitely seems to be USB related, because the phone does charge, but keeps dropping connection. When I am charging, it does not. I just remembered I have not yet tried connecting to my laptop and see if it drops connection there, that would be an easy test.
My F3, MIUI13/12, works flawlessly.
I sent my to service, as there was also a post where someone sent a Xiaomi phone to service with the same symptoms and allegedly they fixed it.
It is frustrating to say the least, as it is a crucial functionality for me.
Unfortunately, I don't have any other convenient car I can try it on. Everyone I know has older cars, no AA :/
I mean some do, but nobody where I can try it conveniently.
Now I'm kinda optimistic, becuse the phone also can't be connected to a PC. Nothing happens. nd it also keeps reconnecting.
nd, when I was switching stuff over via cable from my F3, this did not work, so I had to use wireless option.
I say optimistic, because it appears it is clearly an issue with USB, so service might be able to solve it.

I'm planning to buy this from rn4. Someone says that android auto is faulty. Truth?
On my Seat Ateca I used, without any issue whatsoever, an Asus Zenfone 3 for over an year.
Unfortunately, my Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Global is a pain in the ...
I have tried tons of different (quality) cables, including the original Xiaomi one.
Tried with developer options, MTP, starting AA before connecting, after connecting, while connecting, opening AA, closing it, sitting, standing, breathing, laughing...
Never found the reason why, once in a lifetime, it decides to work. It took me from 5 mins to 20 to have it running.
A real pain!
Disable dualapps
In my case I could connect with my original cable, no issues, you just need to disable the "dualApps" thingy, but I have other issues.
1- Waze when using the android auto, can look for directions start navigation it even calculates the time and traffic, but the position won't move, on the map, my position is always displayed on the starting point, but I get audio notifications, ODD!
2- Spotify, every time I connect the cell phone to the android auto, I'm getting a screen that says "Update something" and I cannot use Spotify unless I restart the phone (even if it's working fine on the device)
A redmi note 5 new, I used android auto on a Zenfone 3 for a year or so with no issues.
I figure out how to fix these issues, more or less:
1. Be very sure that for spotify and waze, the battery rules are set to allow everything (not automatically optimized). Our phone use to shutdown background applications for battery optimizations (so, no more waze gps location). Same for spotify.
2. Enable for android auto, spotify, whatsapp and waze the automatically launch on start.
hi, I have same problems with my RN5 Global and my Ateca. tried lot of Roms, all of them needs up to 10 minutes to connect. I have tested other phones, S7, A5, no problems. only RN5 have this problems. it seems to have MTP issues in the firmware
So I've just switched back from IOS to Android and picked up a Pixel 3 XL with the 1-day sale. I tried setting up Android Auto though but I can't get it to work properly. I can connect and add my car (2017 Kia Niro), but after I try to select the Android Auto icon on the head unit it crashed and keeps flashing "Phone is not responding" and "Reading USB" over and over. On the phone, it still says connected to the car and shows the green notification bar suggesting Google Maps is in use.
I've tried using an older version of AA, but it gives an error unless I update. If I try to connect, not press the icon on the head unit and start playing Spotify, I get 1-2 seconds of audio through the car but then it crashes again. One time I got as far as launching and selecting the navigation tab until it crashed. I've briefly talked to Google support and they requested a bug report which I've sent. I also tried updating to the Q beta to see if that made any changes. I've used 5 different USB cables with no luck.
I didn't have any issues with Apple Carplay, and I also tried a very old Samsung phone (micro-USB) successfully so it shouldn't be the car causing the issue. Does anyone have any tips on what I should look at? I've done a factory reset, cleared all cars, toggled the AA setting on the head unit but nothing makes any difference. I'm pretty reliant on this functionality, so if it doesn't work I probably will be switching back to my iPhone.
Odd behavior. I've had a few issues with AA on my 3XL on Q beta 2 (patched), but none like that. I have a 2016 Chevy Malibu and most of the time when I plug it in I get video but no audio. Pressing play on Spotify does play, but no sound comes out. Disconnecting and reconnecting USB a few times fixes it. There are intermittent skips in the music where it cuts out for a second and comes back. The screen flashes black at times when a notification peeks on the screen like when the song changes. Overall it works, but Q beta brought some bugs. It was mostly OK on P. I believe the no audio started on beta 2.
Have you looked at the developer settings in AA to see if any toggles might help? I think you can go to About and tap the version 7 times, similar to enabling Dev Options by tapping build number in Android system settings.

Thanks! I'll give that a shot when I go to my car later. I forgot about the AA dev options, it's been so long since I've used Android. Hopefully, if I do get it working I don't have the audio issues you mention by switching to Q else I guess I'll need to revert back to P.
I just received a new Subaru, and I couldn't get AA to open at all. After searching, a common denominator was the cable used to connect the phone (my car requires a usb connection). I tried 4 different cables before I got it to work.
The one that worked was an OTG cable, no longer available on Amazon.

I have 2 Subarus and had issues with AA until I figured out that I needed the head unit to come up, have the I agree screen dissappear, and then connect the phone. Works every time. Plugging the phone in before booting the head unit is hit or miss.

Try waiting for your cars head unit to come up before connecting the phone. Ideally bluetooth wilm be connected before you connect USB.
Well, turns out it was the cable. This was 4 old supposedly good cables from a few years ago, along with a new one from Best Buy. Picked up a new Insignia USB C cable where the reviews mentioned success with AA and it is working. Bit of a headache but good news.
Not at all stable to use as daily driver.
1 - No notifications after some times when the phone is ideal you have to open the app, like they are in deep sleep. gave all permissions like auto start, battery restriction none, no data restrictions.
2 - Bluetooth earphones gets disconnected randomly, usually when you lock unlock the device.
3 - Wifi speed degrade when you use Bluetooth and wifi at the same time.
4 - whatsapp video call are still lagging, connecting issue, other phones on the same network works fine.
5 - Battery backup degraded by at least 30%
6 - camera quality is noticeably degraded.
7 - fast charging not working with tbe official charger as well
and there are many more.
please post your work around for this bugs, it will be helpful as xiaomi is not going to launch any update sooner looking at ter track records.
I think you need to do a factory reset.
Battery is exactly the same for me as Android 9.
Camera quality is the same too.
Fast charging works for me with default charger.
Don't know about the rest.

Already did reset 3 times, thought my old google backup setting is the issue, even after setting up without restoring the backup this issues are there, specially the notification, Bluetooth and wifi issue.
I didn't noticed that many problems like you, only the battery performance lost, I went from 10 hours of screen on time, to around 6-7, factory reset from recovery didn't help, but that was enough reason for me to dare to unlock the bootloader, so I went back to MIUI 11.0.3 based on android 9, now I have my 10 hours of screen on time and I'm more than happy, the only feature I miss from android 10, was the wifi dynamic MAC address
So have you downgraded back to android 9
Can you please help me how to do so
Can't we download android 9 package from mi website and install as package in update settings?

1. Not happening here.
2. Also not happening.
3. This is normal if you use 2.4Ghz wifi + bluetooth, wifi always slow - READ WHY
4. This is Whatsapp issue, not phone specific. Try other such as Line or Duo. I only found lags on Whatsapp.
5, 6, 7. Not happening to me.
About battery, try flashing old one via Mi Flash > flash & clean all (don't lock back).

i am talking about Indian variant, various users have already raised this issues, also mi developers had confirm this notification issue and forwarded it to there developers.
2 - this was not there before day i switched to andorid 10 even after reseting 2 times i am facing this issue
3 - This wasnt the thing on android 9 that is the problem
4 - tried telegram duo, even the calls are not coming. forget about mesgs.
6 - this is also confirmed by many users
I'm in last version and Android 10 but don't have any of this problems in my phone! Performance is better than Android 9 and everything is fine! You must do a factory reset to fix this problems.
I am also on android 10 on the indian variant and I can confirm that the 1st issue which is about no notifications after some time is happening to me also. Although I don't know about the rest. About charging and battery backup, I think it is same as before.

I'm only facing the notification issue mentioned in the tread. Everything same, miui 11.0.2 android 10. All settings tested. Also tried pnf app. No use. Another symptom is when I open WhatsApp all the messages are delivered only then. Have allowed it to run in background, disabled power saving, all notification allowed, auto start permission given.
anyone noticing bluetooth mac is changed to 00:00:46:00:00:01?
maybe this causing the bluetooth disconnection issue?
I just noticed it on both of my RN8pro running Indonesian fw Android 10.
Mine upgraded yesterday throught OTA to MIUI 11.0.4(QGGIXM)/Andorid 10.
I came from the Andoird 9 and everything was good, but after the upgrade my GPS in Dual Space and Second Space can´t lock my postion.
Tried to hard reset 3 times and reflashed this ROM manualy and nohing. I still have the bootloader locked and can´t downgrade now.
I made some tests using app GPS test, in te upper screen is the "normal" app and in the bottom s the dual app that can´t lock the GPS, same thing happens in the second space.
After search a lot, people say that is better to downgrade, so anyone have this issue here or a solution for it?

No, not yet. It is a pain and I will do it if it is really necessary, I'm not sure if that would work. Anyway I saw the link that someone posted earlier that this kind of interference is a common problem; I never new about it or noticed it. On my PC there is some slowing down also, but not as dramatic as on the RN8P.

So basically it is common problem for all phones or even all device's?
Is it worse on A10 that on A9?

It is very common (if you use 2.4GHz WiFi); you'd need beamforming to get over it. But not all devices are the same - it depends on device quality and antenna separation (for example, laptops with Intel/Killer wifi modules are much less affected by it, while Raspberry Pis are having serious trouble doing both at the same time).
Of course, this only applies in 2.4GHz. Switch to 5GHz, and you'll have no more problems.
When to do factory reset? After updating or before updating?
I am using Stock Rom 12.5.3.0 RKHEUXM with the Poco F3. The wired Connection to my Car (Hyundai i40) is working very well. Now the problem: the Google Assistent sometimes asks a follow-on questions. In this case the microphone does not recognize any Input. Example: "Call Jenny". follow-on question from Assistent"Jenny at Home or Jenny at Work?" ...then the assistant waits for an answer, but the mic is not recognizing my answer.
USB-cable is fine. Works with Poco F1 and Samsung S21.
As far as I remember, it even worked with Poco F3 (earlier Stock Rom).
Are there other users experiencing same problem? What can Help?
Sorry, for my first post with even not knowing If it is the correct forum (or Android Auto?).
I have the same issue.
A further complication is that when connected (wired) the Android Auto display of the car won't fire up aps such as Tune in Radio etc. Says it's "Not working at present". If you pick up the phone itself and start the app manually, it then works on the car screen.
I only have the Poco F3 a short while and while it's an excellent phone otherwise this is frustrating.

I am not using AA the moment but I had a similar thingy a few months ago where opening an app (I believe it was Spotify) did not work with some similar error message.
I noticed after some attempts that at the same time (opening app in AA screen) I got some message on the phone asking to accept some safety disclaimer, which only showed on the phone itself.
If it worked before and now not I would always go for a clear cache/uninstall session with reboots.
Be sure to check out the following tweak app for AA: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...er-the-ultimate-android-auto-utility.4194239/
Is Android Auto working for anyone? No matter if I connect it to my car or use wireless AA, it starts and disconnects right away and just keeps doing that over and over. I haven't been able to get it to work with anything I found online with past Samsung phones that had connection issues. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.
Same issue here with my 2019 volvo xc60. Car briefly shows it's going to connect then says "reconnect device". Phone will display the initial setup screen but when you hit next it flickers something and vanishes. Using cable.
All updates installed...
Working just fine in my iX3 wireless. Not tried wired, but then never do. I am running 8.x.x beta though, might be worth trying that
Found The beta and sideloaded the update. No luck, same problem.
This really sucks.
Broken here too. I'm using a JVC head unit in my truck. Works great with my S22 Ultra, Z Fold3 and iPhone 13 Pro Max.
I've tried everything under the sun. No luck. Even reset network connections in case it was a corruption from migration.
Same here, 2021 Tacoma. Fold 2 worked just fine, now nothing.
AA desperately needs an update in general.
iOS carplay is so much better.
BUT! Not working at all is very, very bad.
Early users also reporting July security patch too so perhaps an update is in order. They usually smooth out new devices (aka shakedown) after a few months so fingers crossed.
Just rec'd my G4F today, and also nada for me in my 2015 Mazda 3.
G3F works like a charm. This sucks.
How the fck could Samsung deliver a phone that has broken aa? WTF
Also broken on both my kenwood radios. fold 2 still working like a champ
No issue in france with my peugeot 208
Kia Sportage no issues....
No issue on e208
It's like the AA crashes before it finishes authorizing the permissions for the vehicle. I may try getting everything set up to pull ADB logs this afternoon and see if there's any clues there.
Solved it!
I went into apps, Android Auto, cleared cache + data (again) then I went to the battery option for Android Auto and set it to "Unrestricted". I'd already gone under the central battery options and set it to never sleep for Android Auto previously but that alone didn't do it.
Paired perfectly on next connection. After that I just paired it with my wireless AA dongle and everything is fine with the world again.
AA working fine with my GF4 + 2022 BMW M3.

Hello,
I just wanted to let you know that it worked for me. I was having the same issue. I have a 2020 Hyundai Palisade with the new Fold 4.. Thanks for posting the solution!!!!
Dave
I can confirm that resetting caches and data for Play Services a Play Store did the trick. Also AAWireless is working now.
I was going to reply and tell you all that if you have uploaded apps from the old phone you had to the new Z Fold 4 , there will be some apps that will require a clean start and date and cache probably will require it, especially AA. Getting my phone today (FedEx say it is on the truck to be delivered) and here is my part I am re-thinking the wireless AA.. I drive an Audi A6 with an after market module for Car Play and AA.. That worked fine with my S20+ so far. The screen in the car is not a touch screen , 8.5" lower resolution than the fold 4. I got the new car Qi mount for the fold 4 installed last night and it looks , even with the S20+ much more crisp and clean, not to mention a touch screen. I bet when the Z Fold 4 arrives today and I will have it placed in the mount open, the 950NIT , hi-res , will make my car screen look bad even more.. I truly think of removing AA from my phone, not connecting to the car although I can, connect only Bluetooth to have Spotify/phone use the speakers, and turn off the car's screen.. For less than $50 good car mount, WHY would I need AA? Controlling from the steering wheel ? Meh, I use Google Voice anyways.. Your thoughts, as Z Fold 4 7.6" hi res screen owners? I'll share my comparison between the two options after 2-3 days of driving around with an open phone, vs. Car screen..
