Question Manual network selection 2G missing - Google Pixel 6 Pro

Hi all,
I use my pixel 6 pro on an "unsupported" country and the 3G service is really crappy. VoLTE and WiFiCalling is disabled obviously, so my only calling option is via a spotty 3G coverage from my operator. I am getting so many dropped calls and setup failures that the phone is almost unusable.
I tried to force the phone to just use 2G so that I just use data only when on WiFI and voice through GSM but there's no option for selecting 2G only.
Is there a way to re-enable that option ?
Surely the phone supports GSM 900 / 1800 / 1900

Or you could give this a try.
Requires no root, only Shizuku, and you might get VoLTE/VoWiFi working. Needs re-enabling after each system update.

[Q] Can North America 2013 Nexus 7 LTE have cell phone function

can someone let me know if new 2013 North America Nexus 7 LTE can add a phone as HTC Flyer 3G did a small change and it show up the Phone APP? So I can use it as cell phone.
Thank you for advise
I sir share your quest for this burning question :fingers-crossed:
GSM vs Cellular 3g/4g support
i hope this answers the question or helped you. Gsmarena labeled the tablet Asus Google Nexus 7 2 Cellular with 3G/4G support.. while some other tablest with phone functionality are labeld with a GSM. So i think GSM means having phone functionalit/capability. But im not realy sure about that. I also think having a signal, mic, and speakers can make a device a phone.
GSM is a carrier tech - commonly used for legacy voice channels.

Nope not true at all. Many 3G networks do not have GSM hardware on the U-Tran/NodeB at all; and do all calls over UMTS voice channels on the WCDMA carrier path. The XT network in New Zealand is one example of this.
GSM is a technology - and many legacy/budget players use it to provide voice services - modern networks do not always deploy GSM along side there UMTS/WCDMA deployments which run the 3G and LTE networks.
Strickly speaking LTE networks don't have a specific Voice Channel at all and are mean to use a SIP handover data channel. Unfortunately due to poor device/handset support for the LTE SIP handoff many operators are choosing to use their existing UMTS/3G dedicated voice channels for voice calling over their shinny new LTE networks. This means your data rates will drop when making/receiving calls - amongst other things.
So at least to my observations on my LTE Nexus7 (Deb) that I picked up and rooted with the PAC man build - there is nothing stopping voice dialing except for the fact the CM10.2 builds that the PACman rom is currently based on have not included the phone/messaging applications and frameworks into the builds. Hopefully this is just an oversight from the initial AOSP code drop from google (which does not include them).
if so i'd stick my nexus4 rogers SIM card into this LTE nex7 and make it a phablet as well!

Yes CM10 for Deb is just at its beginning.I really hope they manage to get the phone function to work. I don't want to hang around with a phon and my N7... My good old P6800 was excellent for this...

Pretty much - am not sure what Rogers use for their voice calls on their network. If they have a GSM fallback path as well as UMTS voice then that might complicate things.
Going to test the CM10.2 third build that just came out last night and see if that fixes it here in NZ.

Sorry. I rarely use txt & MMS. I pretty much use Hangouts and Viber to chat with everyone I know.
By the way, if touch tone DTMF is not working, try to change the DTMF from Short to Long in Phone settings.
I have a T-Mobile edge and edge plus, both have band 12. One of the offices i work at only gets band 12.

Ofc the tmo S6 has band 12 support. I meant the verizon S6.

It's the same one that's everywhere online for TMO LTE, it's not device specific, in fact the same settings are used for all LTE enabled phones, even iPhones. I'd be shocked if it wasn't either the 1st or 2nd result after a Google search.
I once had Verizon Edge+, and used it on T-Mobile.
Add and use the following APN.
Name t-mobile US
apn
fast.-tmobile.com
mmsc http://mms.msg.eng.t-mobile/mms/wapenc
apn type default,supl,mms
Leave all other settings as is.
For MMS to work, make sure you add "mms" in APN Type field.
Moreover, once in a while, you'll get an annoying popup saying that the sim card is not Verizon etc. If rooted, just use Titanium Backup and freeze the "activation" apk. If not rooted, use Package Disabler Pro, and the disable the aforementioned apk.
Good luck.
the issue is in you are using Verizon S6 Edge+ on Tmobile network, you can't use data while on phone call.
it doesn't pickup band 12, only works on band 4 etc, which loose the data if phone call picked up.'
is there any way around?
I am facing another issue on the phone ...
If my phone is getting Tmobile 4G LTE, and i make a call - Network changes to 1X ...And when i try to Dial In the extensions .. it just wont take it ...

My note 3 did this going from verizon to tmobile. A workaround i found was to switch the network settings from 4g or global to 3g or 2g only and then make the call. Touch tone would work, then after hanging up switch network settings back to 4g or global. Hope this helps you.

Dual SIM Function - Honor 8 Pro

I hope someone can help to answer the following query as I can't seem to get any information / confirmation on it's dual SIM functionality. As some of you may now, some countries has discontinue in offering 2G connectivity.
On the Honor 8 Pro dual SIM, does it function as ;
A) if SIM1 is selected as default data line on 4g/3g - can SIM2 run simultaneously on 3g (non-data)? Or,
B) if SIM1 is selected as default data line on 4g/3g - will SIM2 run simultaneously on 2g only (non-data)?
Noted they are dual stand-by. My question it's on the band connectivity for the none default data line.
Hope to get some guidance

I strongly think it's B because that's how the network with Honor 8 works.
A) is true! But B) doesn't allow you to be based only on 2g, it switches between 3g 2g
Also if you select mobile data default sim as 2, then it will be switched to 4g network and if your sim 1 is 4g only, it will be withering around with no network

Dual sim problem

Hi there :
I use dual sims on my 7T. from different carriers.
SIM1 only for voice call and on 3G network (in my place 3G has better signal than 4G)
SIM2 for DATA and on 4G .
when i do voice call by using SIM1, Sim2 drop to 3G and slow speed.(showing H or H+ on top bar. )
as in Australia non-carrier support VOLTE or VOWIFI on Oneplus 7T (or say all the oneplus phone base on my research),I can understand when voice call the network have to switch to 3G from 4G then go back after calls.
but in Dual Sim setup ,is it should be remain the network type and has same fast speed ?
Thanks in advance.
There's only one modem, so it can only do DSDS (dual sim, dual standby). When in a call, the other connection is dropped. This is why your data switches to sim1's 3G.
Are you intentionally trying to avoid using volte/vowifi for calls? If not, you likely need to do this: https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-7t/how-to/volte-op7t-t4007085

Hi Thanks for your reply.
I see the reason. so DSDS can not support the way I want to use.
I tried the link you mentioned before. no luck.
In Australia, oneplus is not officially on market. So none of carrier support Volte on Oneplus.
My understanding is VoLTE and VOWIFI have to be supported by Carrier AND the Phone.
My oneplus 7T can open and use VOLTE when traveling overseas if I use local sim.
Our local forum have discuss this issue long time. No solution so far.
Some other phone like xiaomi or so can be supported in Australia. I was wonder why oneplus not.
Flash other country's rom may be ? Is there have a Volte international roaming thing ? So 7T can be pretended a Euro device roaming to Australia and using Volte ?

Question Problem to use Motorola Edge X30 in USA

Hello, first of all I want to say that my native language is Spanish and I am using the Google translator to write this, so there may be writing errors and apologize.
Buy a motorola edge x30 and the imported import from China. The phone is unlocked to be used with GSM networks from anywhere in the world. When I bought it, I was with Metro PCS but in Metro I was told that the phone was not compatible with the 3G networks of them. After that I started to investigate and find a web page called kimovil and there I saw that the edge x30 was compatible in the USA with all the networks of 3 suppliers: Cricket, AT & T and T-Mobile: I choose to use change to metro by T-Mobile.
Immediately I left the T-Mobile store after making the change I have tried and could receive and send SMS, receive and make calls, and get access to the Internet without any problem. After a couple of hours of having activated services with T-Mobile, the phone could not or receive more calls (the Internet and SMS continue to work normally, the problem is only with calls). When I try to call someone, the call is not done and says "Hanging Up". I tried everything: Factory Reset, Networks Reset, modify network configuration, everything ... and I can not solve the problem. I went to T-Mobile to tell you about my problem and they tell me that the problem is not them but my phone.
If anyone knows how to solve this problem, I would greatly appreciate the help because I feel frustrated. Thanks
I have MOTO EDGE x30 with T-Mobile. Work perfectly. Check the SIM setting.

Good afternoon. I already managed to use the Edge X30 with the T-Mobile network. You just had to put the network selector on automatic so that you can use 5G, LTE, 3G and 2G as you see fit. The problem is that I realized that the phone only calls and receives calls in 3G and 2G, which limits not only the quality of the calls but also limits your coverage to be able to make calls since you can only make them in 3G and 2G . You who also use T-Mobile, does the same thing happen to you?
I'm not sure, but it supports 5G in N1/N3/N5/N7/N8/N20/N28/N38/N41/N78 and 4G in B1/B2/B3/B4/B5/B7/B8/B12/B17/B34/B38/B39/B40/B41. or check volte settings.
you may try to install "carrier services" app by google from the play store. it solves some of my problem with data connection.

Yes I have the same issue. Whenever I make or receive voice calls, the phone falls back from LTE to 2G. I looked everywhere on the phone for 'VOLTE' settings but could not find it. Does VOLTE work for this phone on Tmobile? Very frustrating.
Has anyone been able to find the solution for the calls switching back to 2g? I love the phone but this is extremely annoying. I'm on T-mobile. Thank you
