i've got an a50 that i want to install TWRP on so i won't have to use the abomination that download mode is. i've unlocked bootloader, yet when i try to flash the TWRP .tar in odin it fails and the phone gives the following error code: "Only officially released binaries are allowed to be flashed(RECOVERY)"
although this is the first time i try flashing stuff on a samsung so you can consider me a newbie, i've got experience with fastboot on others so it must be something i glanced over.
cuz see, when i unlock the bootloader of other phones they let me flash onto them, unlike this one. if you could redirect me to a post with a solution or something that would be very much appreciated!
If you are on the latest official build, then The latest official build (last official Update from samsung) won't allow the twrp to be installed.
Use previous build to install twrp.

can you point me to a site for downloading the october build? furthermore, my plans are to do whatever it takes to get twrp onto it and just flash the unofficial a50 port of lineageos (+official gapps) and debloat with the permission of the owner of the phone. any problems to look at for in the future (seeing that you're a senior here)?

You can proceed.
The problems you may get with FOD, VoLTE. Some operators like Jio completely depend on volte . Without volte we can not make calls and receive messages. Only internet Anwould work.
No aosp rom able to make work volte. For now, volte works only on oneui roms for a50.

Honor 6X (US version) model: BLN-L24C567
Firmware: BLN-L24C567B110
Updated Link 2017-09-09 MEGA-FULL-OTA
Rollback Package from Android 7.0 to 6.0: MEGA-ROLLBACK
You can also download both from Huawei at hihonor.com in their support area.
Thanks @adomol, repository updated with appropriate credit.
Is this the Android 7 update from the 6.0.1 ????
No, this is the stock Marshmallow firmware that shipped with the 6X.
Can this be used to downgrade from Nougat to Marshmallow? Or will it brick? Just figured I'd ask before I try, I'm stuck in a bit of a jam right now, and no firmware I've tried will apply successfully (fails at 5%). So I figure that I might have better luck going back to the stock MM that the device came with.
Edit: It looks like the download link is invalid. Any mirrors?

@AnonVendetta
Thanks guys, but I was able to go back to MM yesterday, with the help of private messages from @adomol. It involved using a small rollback package and a large full package. The rollback went fine. I may or may not upgrade back up to Nougat, got some prep work to do and things to test. I've only had this device for a few days so I don't know the ins and outs of upgrading/downgrading firmware on Huawei. I'm more familiar with Samsung and Odin.

Hi,
I flashed version 14.1-2017016-UNOFFICIAL-n8013 to my Samsung galaxy note 10.1 wifi edition.
I would like to flash an official ROM on it in order to benefit from upgrades.
Looking at the lineageOS download section it seems that there is no N8013 version anymore. Should I take the one called n1awifi ? This is not clear for me.
If so, can I just flash it with twrp and keep all my settings and programs ? Or should I start right from the beginning?
Thank you!
Nobody for this one?
Thanks

Please be sure (check again, then again) which model you have... and let us know
If it is the Galaxy Note 10.1 (WIFI) n8013 you can download the stock firmware and flash it with ODIN.
NOTE: Pretty old software and no updates lately, in fact it still keeps the 4.1.2 Android Version as official.
But, this forum is for Galaxy Note 10.1 (2014 Edition) [SM-P600 variants], if you have this model, please check EXACTLY wich model it is... so we can give you a link to downlad the stock firmware or the right custom (lineageOS) ROM for device.
Otherwise we could be giving you wrong advice and you'll end up bricking your device.

Hi,
Thank you for answering me, I was feeling a bit alone
On the back of the device I can read Model GT-N8010 wifi 16Gb.
I just ran an Antutu benchmark and the results are:
GT-N8013
Android 7.1.1 (32-bit)
Architecture: ARM Cortex-A9
CPU: Exynos 4412 1433 MHz
Resolution: 1280x800
size: 10.1 pouces
Renderer: Mali-400MP
Material: TFT
Density: 160 dpi
Back Camera: 4.9 mega pixel 2560x1920
Front Camera: 1.9 mega pixel 1392x1392
I hope this info is enough.
I'm currently running LineageOS 14.1.
My initial post has been moved to this forum, so I'm not sure if it's the right one.
I have TWRP as a recovery so I can easily flash a ROM, but which one? I'd be really happy if you could point me to the right one.
Thank you!

Well... between GT-N8013 and GT-N8010 only difference is software... so you can install any. Use lastest ODIN as main way to flash.
Official Firmware:
GT-N8010: http:// rapidgator.net /file/9080b81b75100c8f164859ea386ef5c1 > Android 4.4.2 (KitKat) - Recommended
GT-N8013: http:// rapidgator.net /file/96d70a410efbabe165c620587b8cd5ac > Android 4.1.2 (JellyBean)
Notes:
1. Just erase the blank spaces to get links
2. I recommend GT-N8010 since is a newer Android (KitKat)
After download, flash it with latest ODIN (3.12.3) as known. Try to do a clean install, so the bootloader will update correctly.

If you want/like newer Android versions and custom ROM, lineageOS is the best/most secure option still developing for this model... however, there are some issues since it is in Alpha Status.
https:// forum.xda-developers. com/ galaxy-note-10-1/development/rom-nougat-t3505239
There are other ROM projects too... but most seems abandoned, old dated. You can check for example the Gnabo version for GT-n108x.

After flash stock firmware with ODIN, you will lose TWRP, however... you can get it official from here:
https:// dl.twrp.me /p4noterf/twrp-2.8.7.0-gt-n8013.img.html > GT-N8013
https:// dl.twrp.me /p4noterf/twrp-2.8.7.0-gt-n8010.img.html > GT-N8010
After download, flash it with ODIN, but unclick Auto Reboot in options to flash it, then get in recovery mode before to reboot, it will ask you to swap to allow modifications, so you do. Otherwise it will be override with stock recovery and you must repeat process again.
To get root, simply copy latest SU.zip file to the sdcard and flash it with TWRP.
Once you are root, you can even try to upgrade to TWRP 3.xxx with the TWRP APK from Google Play if you like.
Final Notes:
Don't forget to use ODIN you must have the drivers for your samsung device correctly installed in your PC.

Thanks for the link, I'll give it a try.
According to Sammmobile.com , Samsung has finally released the Galaxy A8 (2018) Oreo update, bringing an end to months of waiting for owners of the company’s latest premium mid-range phones. The Galaxy A8 (2018) and Galaxy A8+ (2018) are currently being updated to Android 8.0 Oreo in Russia. The rollout seems to have started over the weekend, and since it’s already mentioned on Samsung’s official website that details software updates, it should be available for most (if not all) users in Russia at this point.
Samsung’s official changelog suggests it’s an update similar to the one received by devices released before the Galaxy S9. Oddly, Dolby Atmos support isn’t mentioned, despite the devices’ user manual saying it’s included. That could possibly be because the A8 and A8+ only get Dolby Atmos for use over wired and Bluetooth audio, similar to devices like the Galaxy J6 and the Galaxy A6. The update also brings support for VoLTE on both SIM slots, which was recently made available for the Galaxy S9 as well. It’s unclear what security patch is included, but since the May security patch has already been out for these devices, it’s possible Oreo bundles the June patch. The July 2018 security patch is included in the update. The build numbers are A530FXXU2BRG1 and A730FXXU2BRG1.
Our What’s New With Android 8.0 Oreo series of articles is the best way to get details on some of the major new features and changes that Oreo brings to Samsung devices (and this official Samsung infographic is also something you should take a look at). To see if Oreo is available for your Galaxy A8 (2018) or A8+ (2018), open the Settings app on your device, tap Software update, then tap Download updates manually. The update is likely to take a few days to start rolling out in other markets; it could also be a few weeks, depending on how quickly Samsung expands the rollout.
The Russian Firmware is avaliable on Sammobile.com on the link below :
https://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/galaxy-a8-plus/SM-A730F/SER/download/A730FXXU2BRG1/224366/
My question is ... will this firmware work on non Russian devices ?
It will.

For G975N there are 3 Android Q firmware versions released by samsung as BSKO, BSL7, and BTA4 from old to newest.
Only kernel source of BSKO is released currently (2020-03-01) which you can find here: https://opensource.samsung.com/uploadSearch?searchValue=g975n
This recovery image is built based on kernel BSKO (G975NKSU3BSKO) and it works with BTA4 firmware so it should work with all these 3 firmware versions.
Note: This image is not Magisk patched yet, if you need magisk to be installed in recovery partition you'd have to patch this image yourself first.

The ones meant for F/FD Variants work on N devices. The only differences are some radio bands and CSC. plus the N Variant being sold as a single sim only just like the F.
Thanks though

Via custom roms based on ONEUI with patched system and kernel. yes.
Via ODIN, you'd have to do some patching else it won't boot.
Can't exactly remember, but I had an N variant before.
I don't know if anyone else uses this device anymore, but worth a shot! I've lost root on my UK MediaPad M5 SHT-W09 9.1.0.335 (C432E3R1P2).
I'm trying to get hold of the full FW download so that I can re-patch the ramdisk with Magisk. I can't find it anywhere, though, not even through Hawawei Firmare Finder - the latest SHT-W09 FW from there is 9.0.1.160, all later ones are SHT-LGRP2. Even then, the best matches for a FullOTA are 9.1.0.333 and 9.1.0.336 (only OTA for 335).
Is it "safe" to use the ramdisk image from what's on Firmware Finder? 333 or 336?
Or do I need to get hold of the 335 FullOTA for SHT-W09?
Thank you!

Hi - Could you clarify this, please ?
I can see SHT-LGRP2-OVS and SHT-LGRP3-OVS versions of 9.1.0.335.
Are either/both of these compatible with SHT-W09 ?
Could you flash the full firmware rather than just the ramdisk ?
What about local variants (eg. C432 etc.) ?

Thank you.
Just pick the SHT-LGRP2-OVS 9.1.0.335 (approved + full).
For magisk only flash the patched recovery_ramdisk (or stock to get back).
Also the system.img is useful to get back to stock from e.g. phhusson's GSIs Android 11 which is great BTW.
Stupid question, I lost root recently on my M5 and am trying to get it back. I have a US M5 so I'm still on Android 8.0.
When flashing the patched ramdisk image do you use the command "fastboot flash ramdisk Magisk_patched.img" or "Fastboot flash boot Magisk_patched.img".
Thanks,
Rick

Both Android 10 and 11 GSIs work well for me. Some of the 11 ones are getting too large for the M5's system partition, although this can usually be overcome by deleting unneccessary VNDK files from the image.
See this comment by CAOS GSI developer eremitein.

I use Android 10 (HavocOS 3.12) for daily use - everything works fine.
Magisk works and it passes SafetyNet with the 'Universal SafetyNet Fix' module.
I tried phhusson's Phh-Treble 11 for a couple of days and everything seemed OK, but I'm waiting for it to come out of 'pre-release' before moving off HavocOS 3.12; the latest 11-based builds of that are far too large, even after removing redundant VNDKs.
It is worth noting that I have a WiFi-only M5 (SHT-W09) and so can't comment on whether the telephony parts of Android 10 or 11 work correctly.
