You have granted root permissions to the file explorer app and mounted the file system as r/w?
ihave granted root permissions but dont understand the other bit ur asking
I have never used ES File Explorer specifically but I know in File Manager I use has the options you have to check, both use root functions, then mount /system as R/W or read/write. It's normally only R/O or Read Only.
This can be achieved with adb also if needed
Could anyone share their keylaout and keychars firetv folders please? I need the fire tv gaming controller kl and kcm files.
hi guys. i can not change files permission on root explorer on my g3. my rom is cloudy g3 2.5 and my phone is root. when i want change permission on root explorer give me this error:
" permission change was not successful. please note that some file systems(e.g. sd card) do not allow permission changes"
plz help me
I have recently acquired a custom hosts file that I would like to use in place of the built-in one. Of course, the hosts file on the phone is read-only I believe, so it can't just be replaced. I can access it with ES File Explorer, and change the attributes, but no matter what I try, it will not save. I have used the adb "push" command from my computer but I still get an error trying to replace the file. I have tried using ES File Explorer as a remote ftp server also. No luck so far. Short of manually typing the information from the custom hosts file, or copying and pasting chunks at a time, I am at a loss. I don't understand why this can't be done since I have changed the attributes of the file. Please forgive my ignorance if there is an obvious solution for this that I am overlooking. Any help would be appreciated.
Hi,
I am trying to figure out if I can grant write permissions to the external sdcard on my phone, to an app within an app. To be specific, ES Note Editor, which is a component of ES File Explorer.
Background: I recently loaded a custom rom (resurrection remix 6.0, by lox2013), upgrading to marshmallow. I now am dealing with all the fun permission issues associated with marshmallow.
I was able to figure out how to grant permissions to the patent app. I'm able to create files with it, rename, and move stuff. But if I open a text file, on my external sdcard using Es Note Editor, I get a permission error when trying to save.
Doing some research I learned how to grant permissions by command line:
example:
#pm grant com.estrongs.android.pop-2 android.permission.WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE
And I believe the full name of the app to be com.estrongs.android.pop-2.app.BTPopNoteEditor
But when I try to execute the command, using the full name for the app, in a terminal, as su, it returns the description of the command, along with options. Just like when you type a command wrong in Linux.
Any thoughts?
Any possible ideas would be much appreciated, thanks.
Hello,
I wanted to edit the file mixer_paths.xml present in system/vendor/etc to solve the issue with my incall speaker. But I'm not able to save it with a root explorer. I tried to paste another xml file in that folder with a root explorer with super user access, but it said access denied.
I tried also to mount the system folder with - rw permissions but it still doesn't work.
I also tried to move the file through twrp by mounting the system folder, but same issue, the transfer ended with an error.
Do someone have any issue to write on the system folder on a OP3?
Which firmware? Which root solution?
