Question having battery charging issues after sideloading - Google Pixel 6 Pro

Hi I have a Question. I have a pixel 6 pro Verizon branded. Last month when the march security update was posted I sideloaded it because i did not see a verizon specific build. I found out later that people on verizon got the ota a week later. Is there a difference? The reason i ask is because the phone is running like crap ever since. It seems to have broken my wireless charging. And my phone only charges rapidly when plugged in. I am using the wire that came with the phone and the gooogle 30 watt charger. Before this update my phone used to charge rapidly till about 50 then it would progressivly slow down until it was at a trickle and it never really charged past 75 or 80 wired or wireless. Except if i used a non usbpd charger then it would charge all the way if i let it. And that was with no alarms set and i do not use the digital wellbeing at all. And i liked it that way. I used to use a chargie but there was no need for it on the p6. My wifes p6 non verizon has the same issue and I allso sideloaded her march update. I factory reset my phone last night. One other thing i want to mention. My platform tools were from 2021 i think version 30 or something so they were old. I updated them today and sideloaded the april update. It is a little to early to tell but it seems like it is still not charging wirelessly.
Can anyone give me any insight about this? And should i leave my wifes p6 and wait for Verizon to send out the ota? And I will not sideload the next update and see if it gets any better maybe. For the record i have never had any issues with sideloading before

I would recommend you do clean flash your P6Pro Verizon version in case of unpredictable thing happening.

How do I clean. Flash it? The bootloader is locked. I can only side load. I did a factory reset and then side loaded the April update. It doesn't seem like there is anything different. I don't see an specific Verizon build.

it seems like Verizon has got an issue with the pixel 6 series. All the other pixel models including the 7 have gotten their updates for April. I think that i messed up my pixel 6 pro by sideloading the march and April update. The battery life is horrendous now. I have to charge my phone all the way to get through an 8 hour shift at work. And I dont even really use my phone while im at work. I used to charge to 80 and get through the shift just fine with some battery to spare.
I am now considering getting the 7 pro because it seems to have better support and the modem is supposedly better too.

S9 battery doesnt last more than 7 - 8 hour before going completely to 0 % w/ nom use

S9 battery doesn't seem to hold a charge. I can't get more than about 7 hours of usage with just nominal usage. Is this normal? I have already minimize all my background , etc. Doesn't the battery last normally up to 12 hour or more with some nominal usage?
Mine is the same.
Been like this since the android 9 (pie) update and never been the same since. No update has ever fixed this issue.
Used to last 2 days with android 8 (oreo)

my S9 battery life is abysmal also especially compared to the A8 i came from. Its never been good since i got it in july, and ive flashed the U1 firmware and uninstalled every crap-app i could find. very irritating to have a phone released 18 mos ago and it have such issues. I thought they were supposed to iron this garbage out over release iterations
I agree mate. I think i will be going to apple next time. Samsung don't care

Well, Samsung cares a lot, you're now using the S9 which is released 18 months ago, recent samsung flagships like the the S10+ and the note 10+ have excellent battery life.
My friend's iPhone X battery capacity has dropped a lot and he's using it since less than one year, and another friend noticed that her iPhone X's battery isn't great since she got it.

Samsung do not care. They just want us to buy there new products everytime they are released. They do not care for older devices, even if they are not that old. The s10+ and note 10+ may have excellent battery life now, as the s9 did when it was first released. But i bet with the release of Android 10 it will ruin the battery. And Samsung will not care, there priorities will be with the s11 and note 11.
Am not saying apple has a solid performance in battery life, but they still care about older devices letting them update ios versions for years and years.

If you don't know, older iPhones have bad battery life.
My friend's S8+ lasts more than a day on a single charge, so if samsung is making the battery worse in each software update, my friend's s8+ shouldn't last that long, especially that it's released two years and a half ago, right?

I believe that is because Android Oreo was solid in terms of battery life. My S9 started with Android Oreo and the battery life was really good. Since the update to Pie it has been terrible. I don't know what android 10 will bring but hopefully it will sort out this mess with S9 battery
At first, I did have pretty bad battery life, so I started investigating as far as a non-rooted aspects go. I installed BBS and GSAM battery monitor, enabled permissions with ADB and started checking. The biggest drain was Google Play Services SBM (significant body motion), Bixby and Samsung Location services.
This is a list of things I disabled:
Everything Bixby. Can't stand Bixby and use google assistant anyways.
Disabled all Permissions for Google Play Services, it does not need any permission anyways.
Disabled Samsung Location. Don't need it when you have Google Location.
Disabled Google location sharing and history, I always do this anyways
Installed Greenify and enabled permissions with ADB. I have not greenified any apps, just turned on aggressive doze.
There may be more things I have done, but can't remember right off hand. With the above done, in 5h 44min since unplugged, I have 4hr 30 min deep sleep and 1.4%/hr discharge. I can usually go 3 days on a charge, which at first was only getting about a day and a half on charge.

dude, do you not keep up with the news? apple is under major fire for intentionally sabotaging their "aging" devices. They have been caught red handed intentionally slowing devices down to spur users to buy the new one. Android phones have never in the history of modding suffered battery issues or random slow-downs because the release date of the device is x months ago. Dumbest thing ive heard all day..... heres an article showing that apple is intentionally doing this and they are facing potential law suits

Last leg

So, I made it from 2014 until today with my Nexus 6.
Was going to just do a battery swap and see how many more years I could ride this thing. Couldn't have done it without LineageOS.
My 3a XL should be here Friday.
I'll probably tear open my N6 to swap the battery just to see if I can keep it alive a little longer. But it would be interesting to see the longest someone has kept the same phone.
I also just came from Shamu. Unfortunately I broke the screen on my first (still have it) so I didn't technically make it that long on a single phone. I keep all my phones though. Still have my Nexus One, though it's been years since I've even powered it up.
You're going to love the 3a. It feels so much better in the hand than Shamu and everything is so much faster. And don't even get me started on the battery life. I consistently got 5-6 sot on my builds on Shamu (4 ish on stock) and now I get double that.
Consistent
Here is my normal at about 50%
I locked my bootloader out of boredom last week running latest complete stock with these results.
Good device for sure. I have 3a xl from T-Mobile fyi
Yea, I came form a Nexus 5x (had it for 2 and a half years) and the improvements over that are insane. I no longer have to keep it charging constantly and it's so much smoother.
Sent from my Google Pixel 3a XL using XDA Labs
I had a Nexus 6 myself but technically came from a Moto g6. You'll love the pixel 3a xl, it's by far the best phone I have used and performance wise it's a well deserved upgrade from Shamu.
The only downer right now is the lack of twrp but everything else about the phone is amazing.

It came today. Playing with it now. I really like how it feels in my hand. The Nexus 6 was horribly uncomfortable.

Exactly. This solved the slightly too wide issue Shamu had. I will say the smaller screen will take a little getting used to. I still find myself wishing for a slightly larger one fairly often.
I am switching to 3a from original MotoX running JellyBean mostly due to the battery not lasting long enough. I had a spare Moto X that I bough used for $100, this one runs KitKat and battery life is better (I rarely used/charged it) but it has problems running Google Maps, so considering current promotions on Amazon I finally made a move.
How do you know your phone is too old? When Chrome Browser has a menu item that says there will be no further browser updates due to OS not being supported. This is what I have on JellyBean, the one on KitKat is still being updated but inability to use Google Maps and a lot of new apps no longer being compatible finally pushed me to upgrade.
Og pixel xl about to be unsupported no more security updates after december so here you go moved on to a pixel 3a xl. I found a Great deal on amazon 150 off for a used 6 month old phone pretty satisfied.:good:
Got my P3aXL Friday. Great device.
But, I could see getting by with my Nexus 6 another year or so on LineageOS and a new battery.

Dang dude, that's impressive.
I got a LG G3 in 2014, but moved to a Honor 8 after a couple of years before moving to the 3a XL a couple of months ago. Both those phones where rooted, but the manufactures were slow with updates and eventually stopped updating them. I ran custom ROMs on both, but eventually even those dry up, especially when a new major Android version comes out and the manufactures doesn't update the drivers to the new OS. Perhaps I'll have better luck with the 3a.
The Nexus 6 got lots of support from the custom ROM community. I'm hoping this 3a will be supported close to the same.

Will be by me as long as I own this. The main reason I moved in from Shamu was Pie was never functional to my standards on it. Many things never worked right and the battery was much worse than Oreo.

Unfortunately, there isn't much in the way of development on the 3a series. There is certainly more development on the flagship 3/4 level than the 3a, but even that level is less than the Nexus 6 - at least in the heyday. I don't think that will ever change. The good news is that raw Pixel OS isn't bad and obviously we can root our phones and have access to some development and modifcations, but it will never be at Nexus 6 levels.

Shamu was no cake walk to get fully functional builds on for the first 3-4 months after it came out and that was a basic 32 bit device with none of the recent security, partition, and other fun Google has thrown at us with Android 10. Shamu was also one of (if not the best) devices you could buy in 2014. Development will get sorted out at some point (soon hopefully) and when it does there will be at least 1 Rom for these which is all I need.
LineageOS is still kicking out updates for the Nexus 6.
I know a battery swap is doable, but a little more than what I want to dig into. Otherwise, I had no real reason to move on.

That may be, but Pie Roms on Shamu were never fully bug free and the battery was never as good. I spent months trying to get all the issues resolved and never did. The reduced battery youre seeing is almost certainly from running a Pie Rom and not because the battery is too old. Just prior to getting the 3a I was running my Oreo build and still getting 5-6 hrs SOT on it vs roughly 2.5-3 on any/every Pie build I made (or tried).

Question So...did anyone actually buy the OnePlus 9 Pro?

If so what was your reasoning and did you go direct or through a carrier deal? If you did upgrade what phone did you have before?
Upgraded from my perfectly fine OnePlus 6T (purchased in November 2018), just because the deal on OnePlus 9 Pro was really good. But I'm now really happy with the overall performance of the 9 Pro.
I bought the 12 GB/256 GB Stellar Black version through my carrier (in Belgium). It's not a carrier locked phone, fully unlocked. The price was € 999, but with € 349 one time payment, and rest in 24 monthly installments (with usage included).
But the pre-order offer between 23 March and 31 March had a € 240 cash-back from OnePlus, and the wireless charger included. So I pre-ordered it. Got the phone on 2nd April.
Also, my employer reimburses my monthly mobile+Internet bill, so I don't have to worry about the monthly installments as well.
If I break the contract with the carrier, I have to pay the remaining costs, that's just it.
Hello there, I came from OP8 Pro international version which I still have, I've got me OP9 Pro Chinese version (LE2120) and I'm already pleased with this phone, took some underwater pictures, slow mo video, the camera itself is better than OP8 pro, 5G works really well in my area, it feels that it has better 5G connectivity, now that's my personal opinion based on what's important to me, camera and signal, I can't tell you anything as far as performance for gaming because I'm not a gamer. Overall I'm really happy with my upgrade.
Carrier deal with 3UK, upgrade from the OP7P
I have joined.
Traded my s21u for this. Will share my experience.
The black is sexy af.
Bought global LE2125 direct from oneplus.com. It replaced my still very functional Samsung Note 3 that's been my only device for the last 7.5 years. The main reason I finally upgraded this year was SD888 has 5g modem built in, not side modem chip. Went with oneplus since in the U.S. it's almost the only option for a phone you can unlock the bootloader and have a decent chance of a dev/mod/theme community. Also was forced to relocate due to one of the stupid hurricanes destroying my home last year and my Note 3 didn't get very good signal due to limited antennae not utilizing all possible spectrum. Loving my 9 pro!
Note 3? God I hope you were running a modern version of Android for security reasons.
Anyway, I came from a Note 9 after it was crushed and would have cost more to repair than a new Note 9. Got it through TMobile USA.
OnePlus 9 Pro Global LE2125 bought used but like new! Coming from my OnePlus 8 Pro which will be eventually sold...
I switched to OP9 Pro from a 7 Pro because after screen replacement the finger print reader did not work properly.
However I am partly regretting this switch already because the 9 Pro feels slower than the 7 Pro, mostly due to its heavy and slow vertical scrolling which does not outweigh the small performance boost and 120 Hz in everyday use.
Bought a 9 Pro yesterday.
Found a deal at $900 for a device in the box.
Coming from a 7 Pro.
Got the 9 Pro 12/256 and came from my McLaren (Best phone i ever had)
I got mine yesterday and today I've been having lots of fun with it.
My Razer Phone 2 battery was dying it was on its last leg, it kept shutting down out of the blue, so I was forced to switch to a new phone.
Did a google search on Saturday for best phone in 2021 and 1+9 Pro topped the charts across board.
Did another search for accessories and found everything I needed in Amazon.
Ordered both the same day and the case + screen protector arrived on Sunday.
Last night I spend several hours transfering stuff from my old Razer Phone 2 to 1+9 Pro and wow it was easy.
It was the most effortless transfer ever, but the size took hours over WiFi
Aprox 40 GB of data.
Then another 2 ~ 3 hours with Titanium Backup to restore all Data, and wow that was sweet.
I was able to use the phone by the time I woke up this morning with just minor inconvenience like typing the password again for some Apps.
I was surprised most of my old phones Google settings, including Phone specific settings was able to get transferred as well.
Now the only problem I have after rooting is NO Netflix, it won't let me install Netflix, it won't let me sideload it.
Still trying to figure out how to get Netflix working in 1+9 Pro rooted.
The only negative thing about this phone, are the speakers... not strong enough, they sound nice, but no where near loud and clear enough as my old Razer Phone 2
Can't get that Movie Theather feel when watching or listening to music with the 1+9 Pro.

Yep, bought outright. Here in the UK Three were offering both the headphones and wireless charger as pre-order incentives. Previous phone was the Pixel 5.
Within a week the OP9 Pro screen was defective and causing flashing (seems common issue on the forums) so Three offered to send a replacement. Courier also left the old one behind leaving me with 2 phones lol
Upgraded from my OP7Pro
No, we all just like to loiter in the OnePlus 9 Pro forums and we all have iPhone 12 Pro Max's.
Got my OP9P from T-Mobile coming from my OP6T. My OP9P is already unlocked and rooted and I have no complaints with this phone so far.
Like other users, i buy used, but like new. I wait for the price to drop. I saw one less than 750 $, but already taken.
I ordered the 50w wireless charger from China (56.99 $). For me is a must.
The 30w for OnePlus 8 Pro is Awesome, so 50w should be even better.
I already got the 65w wall charger and cables type-C to type-C.
Traded in my Pixel 4XL towards it. Loving my OP 9 Pro so far. I think there is a lot of bad hype about this phone.

Question New to pixel device

Hi all I have the Xperia 1 IV which I'm sending back due to overheating and I did have the s22 ultra but sold it
I'm looking at getting the pixel 6 pro and I'm thinking of rooting and flashing custom ROMs ect
Is they anything in place that causes problems (like on Samsung phone Knox,) where if I ever wanted to return to stock I could and it will be as if it was never rooted ect
And how are people finding the pixel now after all the updates ect does the tensor chip hold up (I don't really game)
Thanks

You can return to stock fairly easily, especially if your bootlaoder is unlocked or unlockable. Android Flash Tool is probably your best bet. You can also flash the factory image via fastboot, sideload the OTA and factory reset. There is also a flash tool created by @badabing2003. There are many guides in this forum you can peruse through.
I personally find this phone very good. Opinions will differ, of course, depending on people's experience.
I've had mine since March. The Only issue(s) I had was the fingerprint sensor was a bit laggy, but one of the updates fixed that.
The only "real" issue I've had, as have many, is the modem chip still has a few bugs.
The signal level is a bit hit or miss. On my previous phone, I pretty much has full strength all the time in the area I typically operate in. With the 6Pro, sometimes the signal level drops. Most of the time if you put it in airplane mode for a few seconds, then turn it back on, it corrects. To me, it's a minor glitch that doesn't bother me.
The 6 Pro overheats on warm days too unfortunately. It's been happening a lot lately.
The camera stops working and the phone gets very slow. 5G gets disabled too when it happens.
I think your first mistake was selling the S22U. The second would be buying the 6 pro.
At least wait to see what the 7 pro has to offer. Hopefully it addresses the 6's shortcomings.
I've been using the six pro for 4 months now and didn't have the heatimg or the fingerprints or any other issues.
Solid experience for me, I highly recommend the device
I've had 1 overheat warning (and that was yesterday) but we are seeing shade temperatures up to 40C in the UK at the minute, stands to reason the hardware isn't going to be cooler then the air around it. Any use in direct sunlight even on cooler days has always made my P6P feel really hot in the hand but when you look at the battery temperature it isn't even at charging temperatures.
When the weather is a bit more normal for the UK though i can shoot video at 4K 60FPS without any problems or heating warnings.

Question I've had enough with the Pixel 6 pro.

Pixel 6 pro, had it for like 3 months and this is getting outrages, fingerprint sometimes not working, phone buggy as hell, always over heating over the most basic of task, the battery life is mediocre compared to other phones of the same size and price, so many bugs like camera dot being turned upside down, things not loading and now?? None of the Chargers are charging the phone after the January update. Like not even the pixel 30W adapter and cable will charge it. Like what is this crap, $1200 CAD phone and it barely works and runs on an operating system that runs worse than window Vista. I thought Google had standards but clearly this phone is such a giant letdown, I could go on and on about all the problems this phone has and now the simplest of task can't even be accomplished by it, it can't even charge with a OEM cable and adapter and needs to be restarted 3 times a day when the system bugs out. I have never had such an awful experience with a phone and the pixel 6 pro just proves Google is incapable of making an actual flagship phone. I won't even start with my pixel buds 2 and how bad they are always disconnecting, every time one side earbud dies before the other even hits 90%. I've had enough of Google. It's been out for like 3-4 months and they still can't even fix this. Imagine if they focused on the phone with the same effort they do in the ads department.
As with your phone, have you tried a factory reset?
Your ear buds have gone bad. I had the same problem with my Sony wf-1000xm4 and Sony acknowledged it was a problem caused by a software update. I got mine replaced under warranty after almost a year.
I get you. I've felt like crushing the phone into bits with my hands, or snapping it in half.
But windows 11 for me is the same. My pixel watch etc. I think technology as a whole just isn't a user friendly experience
I got a Samsung a34 5G. Same. It's like the manufacturers of devices conform to deliberately build tech to screw up.
But having said all that, android Z is about 4-5 years away, and with enough people complaining about stuff not working, I think things will need to evolve
how did you get fricked over so badly with the price you paid for it - 1200 cad for a pixel 6 pro in feb 2023? you got ripped off, i got mine for the equivalent of 940 cad in june 2022
I've paid 350$ and i think that I'm ripped off
The phone is good but not as quality of 'google'
It makes some headache from time to time
I came from a oneplus 7 pro /8 5G about 2 years ago and it was a tough transition admittedly. However, I have to say that I've come to find this thing to be both versatile and quite resilient. I put it through hell and it only costs 30 bucks to replace the screen on Google's $9 protection plan. And thanks to the work of the development community, I enjoy a lot of cool features and privacy protection. After hearing about Google's plan for dashcam (supposably, you'll be able to user pixel as a dash cam via the safety app) I will give serious consideration to Pixel 8 Pro.
I'd say Android Flash Tool, flashing al partitions and formatting device, that worked for me, from hating it to loving it, try it if you want as your last choice, if that does not fix it, nothing will

Main problem with mine has been the mediocre modem. Constantly have bad signal and at least twice a day whilst not on WiFi I will lose all connectivity. Even though shows I have signal and on 4g/5g I have to toggle airplane mode to get it talking again. My first experience on a Google phone and possibly my last
Bliss 16.7, radioactive kernel, with pictured modules, and LSPosed modules. Best phone setup I've had in awhile. Then get ReVanced modded apps. Hmu if you need help making your P6P better.

I was a bit harsh in my statement about modern tech's shortcomings.
With AI manifesting itself daily into most applications I think things will change. I rooted my a34 and it is a little less powerful than the 6pro, with just 6gb of ram.
The pixel 6 pro isn't a bad phone, I was just having a bad day when I posted that.
