Question SM-F936B/DS not having 5g support in Europe (estonia) - Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4

So like the title says, i dont have 5g in mt 2k€ phone, what gives? is samsung lazy with the firmware updates? or is the international unlocked phone actually hacing some locked bands? any way to unlock n75/n77 bands? i tried my sim in my australian netgear m6 pro in estonia in my location and it works perfeclty, other phones, older samsungs also work fine, but fold 4 just doesnt seem to find anything, besides competing isp tower and saying unknown frequency and 5g sa, if im not mistaken the int fold 4 should have everything? sa, nsa, all bands, etc? no? anyways maybe someone has a solution for me what firmware to flash or what to do, i rma'd my phone but i am 99.9% sure that samsung validated "repair" center wont be able to do anything like that as i have had different issues with different samsung phones before and they wont flash you anything than baltics firmware

Fold4 has 5g and it's working perfectly no need a firmware update. Witch csc are you using ? Witch firmware ? Did you check and search your provider in settings ? 5g/4g/3g/2g is selected ?
I'm not living in a big city in France and have great signal

5G from Orange Flex (Poland) works perfectly.

The same model. No issues. 5G is ok in Germany.

Same here. Latvia, 5G works fine.

the issue is in the firmware side, one of the operators doesnt work, every other operator 5g works, already got samsungs answer that they are working on a fix for it

Best firmware for note 10 plus USA in France?

Hello,
I have a note 10+ of US origin with snapdragon 855, I want to use it in Europe (France) in order to have the best possible network.
I installed the firmware N975U1 XAA but I don't have 4G + (I only have the LTE logo, no LTE +), a lot problem of concern for notification with my mailboxes.
So I would have liked to know if there was a more suitable firmware for France in order to have the 4G logo which replaces the LTE logo? and maybe be able to receive 4G +?
I know I cannot install the XEF firmware because the processor is not the same.
Thanks for your help
Hello ,
I'm surprise ! Your provider ? Your mobile network coverage ? If you have another mobile , full XEF , what result on the same place ? switch off !
I use the Orange network. the network is the same with another mobile except that I receive 4g + while there it is simple lte. I know there is normally lte + in us. so know if it is possible to have a firmware allowing to have 4g +. after maybe nothing to do but I receive with great difficulty the notifications gmail and other mailbox. I have however reinstalled everything several times but no change.
does anyone know if this is possible? or a tweak that allows you to do it? thank you
4G, 4G+, lte, lte+, lteA, 5G, etc, are sevice provider dependant, so, you will get what the carrier gives you, no way to obtain services that other carriers provide
I'm using a Canadian Note 10+ (N975W) here in the UK which is working flawlessly, I have full 4G+, VoLTE & WiFi calling, the only thing that doesn't work is Samsung Pay which I knew anyway, and as I use Google Pay, it isn't a issue :highfive:
Firstly search the bands that your phone uses with its model name on GSM arena, then the ones used by the carriers you'll need for both countries.
Then with the RNC mobile app or with Activity Launcher, search "hidden" and launch the one under "paramètre d'appel"
You'll be able to see what bands are actually used by your current carrier.
Since the protocol names and frequency aggregation hints are carrier specific, you may already use 4G+ without knowing.
Hello, I'm going back to the topic because I still don't have a solution at the moment. I had the opportunity to have a French Note 10 alongside with the same operator, I had the "4G +" (LTE+) logo, the speeds were tested at 300 mega / sec. With my 10+ USA rating stuck on the LTE logo I only get 50 mega / sec ...: /
according to my research this is a carrier aggregation problem.
How to unlock it?
I just tried the Canadian rom and the same, no support for LTE + or 4G +, the speeds are as low as with the US version

Enable 5G on LTE S20 Ultra

I have an Exynos S20U that is LTE (or 4G) and i would like to enable it to 5G. Samsung for some reason decided to keep the 5G module on all phones but disable it on some and i find that unacceptable on a phone I paid 1400$ for.
I would like to see if this is possible (and also to change the text on the boot screen).
All input is appreciated. Thanks.
sorry all s20 Ultra's should be 5G enabled?. Please ensure your phone is the correct one for your country/region and running the correct CSC code for yr network. make sure your network supports 5G and your tarriff is active with 5G etc

There isn't a 5G model in my country. Don't you think I would've done it if i could?

Some countries in Europe get the LTE version which still has the 5G modem inside the device, hence the identical model designation but it's not enabled. Even on the boot screen it says ''LTE'' instead of 5G, and on the box it doesn't even tell you that it has 5G capability. An idiotic move on Samsung's part tbh.
That's why i was asking if i could somehow bypass that and enable it manually.

The only way to know that for sure is to tear the device apart and check if the 5G antennas are present, there is supposedly no other way to know.
For the bypass part, you need someone to actually understand how that modem works, create a custom firmware for that modem (which I guess is different for Exynos and Snapdragon models) and then enable 5G.
All of this will require significant reverse-engineering effort to work at all. You won't see a 5G enabler soon. Also, it will 99.9% require unlocked bootloader AND root, so say goodbye to knox.

I've actually seen a teardown of the Ultra i'm using, and it has the exact same 5G modem as the advertised Exynos 5G G988B Ultra.
Thanks for the input.

Edit: Do you think that perhaps changing the CSC might do the trick?
Wow didnt realise there was an lte/4g only model of the s20 ultra. It doesn't make any sense is it much cheaper than the 5g version? What market is it sold in?

As far as i know, Indonesia and some parts of SEA, and parts of Europe (Central and Eastern). Could be more widespread but in essence it's an exactly the same phone, same model number, identical internals as the 5G version, just with the 5G modem disabled for some reason. It doesn't cost a penny less.

it is possible Samsung locked the 5G in S20 Ultra sold in Indonesia because Indonesia is still far away from the implementation of 5G.
Quoted from The Jakarta Post, "We'll be able to implement 5G services no later than 2022," said Association of Indonesian Cellular Operators (ATSI) chairman Ririek Adriansyah.
I guess Samsung is trying to save your phone battery from trying to search for 5G bands when it doesnt exist in Indonesia.
Try installing this app from google play store. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ray.samsungbandselection
If your phone has the antenna, it should show up here.
UNLESS...... samsung added the antenna but didnt load the antenna drivers into the firmware.. but that would be a stupid thing to do.

That's a good point but it seems strange as i live in Europe, in a country which promises 5G coverage by the end of the year (not country wide, but in major cities). Do you think Samsung could eventually release a patch to enable it?
Also yes, Samsung indeed added the antenna but there's 0 drivers.

A CSC based switch is definitely possible, if you switch to a CSC from a country where the 5G model is officially sold, you might be able to use it, but no way of knowing for sure without visiting that country, switching the CSC and inserting a 5G-ready SIM card.
Has anybody tried and tested this?
What if you install a S20 5G firmware instead of the default one?
Please tell anyone how to enable 5g in S20 ultra Indian version.

SM-G988N CSC bypass for UK location?

Hi everyone,
I got a S20 Ultra (Korean version) as it was one of the few with Snapdragon to work on UK bands but I am struggling to trick the phone to show me content in english on native apps (Samsung Daily, Weather, Members app...).
Don't get me wrong, the initial content is in english but once you try and get more info, about the weather for example, it takes me to a korean website. Members is in Korean all around and daily has Korean cards inside.
Which I think is normal due to the Korean CSC.
I changed the CSC from SKT to KOO but it only removed the network branding and default carrier apps.
Is there a way to bypass the CSC or install an English CSC from UK for example?
did you find how to change it ?
Also have the same issue. I am in Australia. I was thinking about installing australian firmware?
I have an SM-G9860, which is the Hong Kong S20+, and live in Romania. Anyway, I'm pretty much in the same boat as you, having the TGY csc instead of ROM or ORO. Samsung Weather sends me to samsung internet to accuweather.com, which is just what my old exynos s10+ would do, and samsung daily seems about normal, with only the spotify recommendations card showing something in chinese. On the other hand, Samsung Members, which had been acting like I was living in Hong Kong (showing me the offers from there and so on), has, since a few days ago, started showing me content from Romania. Upon randomly launching it last week, it gave me a message as such: "App might reset due to regional settings change" or something like that. My csc is still TGY and samsung pay for instance still is the hk variant. Other than that everything is pretty normal.
Thats why I was asking if its possible to dowbload firmware for the Australian version of the S20 Ultra which is not snapdragon (the reason I bought Korean version because it is snapdragon). Will things still function as normal if I put on Australian firmware that is designed for a korean phone? Sammobile has the firmware for all countries spec phones.

No. Quite simply put: You can only flash Firmware intended for that specific handset.
For example: I own the SM-G9880, which is the (snapdragon 865) Asian version of the S20 Ultra 5G.
I can only flash three firmwares: TGY (Hongkong), BRI (Taiwan) and CHC (China "open"). NO other firmware. Certainly not, say, the EU Firmware, which is for another CPU entirely (Exynos 990)

Thanks Roman. For example I cant use Samsung Pay because it says 'cards must be from Korea'. And a few other things of that nature.
Firmware of a US s20 Ultra running Snapdragon chipset wouldn't work either?

The same way I can't use it because I'd need a card from Hong Kong, but I just use GPay instead, works like a charm. Nope, nothing, I'm afraid. You can only flash the Firmware intended for that specific model number. I am in a slightly different conundrum - I got the SM-G9880, and I'm using it in Europe. While LTE and 5G bands are similar, they aren't identical. LTE, it's barely noticeable, since 1,3,7 and multiple others are supported, 1,3 and 7 work in 4x4 MIMO and the most important Carrier Aggregation Combos like 7-3-3-1 (12) work too. Only thing I don't have is CA with Band 20 (only supported in single mode) and on the LTE side that's basically it - I even have 28-7-3-1. However, 5G wise, different story. Only Bands I got for the EU are N1 and N78, which luckily is exactly what my carrier uses, but there might be N3 and N28 down the road like in other EU countries so it'd be nice to have that...

i just don't know how to modify the file like how to unpack and repack so i can flash it i search for a guide but nothing on google or here in XDA

Question Help with Fold 3 5g problem.

Hi guys i've searched all over the net for a solution and i am starting to think that there is none.
I've bought a Samsung Fold3 5g SM-F926U1 and i think it is an US model. I live in Romania and i can't get 5g signal, only LTE. Tried everything that is normal, reset settings, update internet profile, switched on and off, selected 5G auto and/or GLOBAL.
Nothing works. Do you have any solution? Flash a different rom on it or something?
The phone is single sim, in Romania they sell the dual sim version
Thank you
The F926U supports these 5G bands:
SA/NSA/Sub6/mmWave (2, 5, 25, 41, 66, 71, 260, 261)
What 5G bands does your provider use?

Thanks for the tip. I will probably do the same if there is no other way.
it is possible the software installed on it is not playing nice with the carrier in your region.
for example. In the US, each carrier decides which version of SW update to release to their customer, but if a user brings their own device that was with another carrier hence has a different software version than what is being used for the new carrier... the phone tends to have issues or not be able to update and such.
Other possibility is that the region you are in doesn't use the band that the phone supports (but this might be less likely in my opinion, but I'm no professional nor do I have experience with overseas inter-usability so I may be wrong).

Question [India] Airtel 5G and OTA update

I live in India. I have a HK Variant of the Samsung Galaxy S22 (9010).
Airtel just launched its 5G in 8 cities. I checked NetMonster, and the tower near me is 5G enabled.
However, it appears for 5G to work on Samsung phones, an OTA update is required.
Since I don't have an Indian variant, I won't receive this Airtel specific OTA (which appears to have been pushed for Indian Galaxy S22s).
Apart from changing my CSC thru Chimera Tool etc, is there anything I can do? Please help.
You could contact your service provider

I too have the same variant. Samsung Galaxy S22 (9010) -- Taiwan BRI version.
Same issue.
Maybe once the Android 13 stable is rolled out to our devices, it may work then.

I wonder if there are enough number of us out there for Airtel & Samsung to consider fixing this issue.
Requiring an OTA to just connect to a band seems too much of a hoop to jump to, especially if people are visiting from overseas and have compatible bands. I'm hoping you're correct about the stable Android 13 update, let's see how they approach this.
I have heard S22 series doesn't need an OTA 5G update to work with 5G network. It's enabled already. The OTA is only for the mid range and previous gen S series. Due to some 5G bands and implementation. There are some people with S22 series device in Chennai receiving 5G signal without any issues.
