I'm confused, I recently bought the ZenFone 2 ZE551ML and it clearly is the Chinese version as it has CN on the box and the inside plastic cover is written Chinese too. What I do not get is my firmware which is the ww version out of the box. It clearly reads on the packaging ZenFone 2 Z00ADB and ZE551ML which I'm sure is the Chinese version. I have updated to the latest ww firmware which I got off the ASUS website with no problems occurring. I'm just curious as to whether my device may be dodgy or not and was wondering what experienced owners/users think.
Did not see the other q&a thread so delete this one if you need to.
Where did you buy it from? If from a Chinese vendor they often load the ww firmware on the phone before shipping, the only difference is that if in the states or Canada or Mexico you won't get the 4G/LTE bands, there are a number of people here at xda who are trying to resolve that problem.

It was new of eBay. I believe the seller may be Chinese but it was all bought here in the UK and wasn't shipped as it was listed as UK stock. I've got no problems with the device, 4G on my EE SIM works fine. I'm just curious I've not got a dodgy device. It has a ww firmware out of the box and all the packaging is Chinese even that plastic cover around the device which highlights the specs.
Anyone getting the Korean version via Wonda mobile? Probably be cheaper than getting the region specific models and losing the extra camera...
I was thinking to get it from WONDA. the reason i I wanted to buy a Korean version because it has triple camera, but I will wait a little longer and see how it will look like with the g8s that should be released pretty soon.
Hi all,
I live in Europe and am planning to buy a Snapdragon S20+ from HongKong.
I've checked which network bands the HK phone supports and all bands I need are there.
Before placing the order I want to check with you guys if I have a clear picture of all limitations that come with buying a HK S20+ in Europe.
The list I compiled so far:
- No Samsung Pay (I don't care, won't use it)
- VOLTE may or may not work depending on your carrier (I don't care, I barely call and if I call I don't care about the quality)
- No warranty in Europe .
- Difference in timing of updates
Anything else I should take into account?

Carrier Aggregation may suffer, which will reduce download speeds. I have a Hong Kong variant, VoLTE, WiFi Calling and Samsung Pay work however I'm in the US, your results may vary as you mentioned depending on the carrier. Don't expect you can modify the CSC, you can't change it. Samkey doesn't support HK variants and OXM, which allows Preconfiguration changes for different European CSC's isn't embedded in the software. Updates have come in a timely fashion every month and there's no Carrier Branded Bloatware. Even though the device has some limitations I've been pleased with the HK variant, anything but Exynos!

Thanks for sharing your experiences.
I'll go for the HK version then. Don't see any reason why I shouldn't.
Actually Samsung Pay should work in Europe flawlessly, only thing that won't work is rewards. To be more precise, rewards do work, but the rewards shown are the ones of the phone's original country...
As for the Samkey CSC change limitation, I remember reading a post here about a user that changed CSC from Taiwan to Hong Kong using Samkey...

Good to know. I'm currently not using or planning to use Samsung Pay but that might change in the future.
Regarding the CSC limations, I don't see any reason why I would need to change the CSC.
Reason why you may want to think twice is that in the event if you get unit with poor uniformity seller may not be willing to replace it as easily
How do you plan on buying it?

I bought mine from T-Dimension. Just be sure to order from their .de or .co.uk site and you don't have to pay any customs. Cheeper then the Exynos version here in Sweden. Took about 2 weeks to get the phone. First they ship it from HK to their warehouse in UK then from there to me.

I have ordered the phone from WondaMobile.
They have the HongKong Snapdragon version for the same price as the Exynos in my country.
Also no customs are being charged as they will ship it from/via the UK.
I have ordered S20 ultra also from WondaMobile. I was on 6th of May and I'm hopping the delivery will not take to much time. I also hope I don't have to send it back because of broken camera glass or other issues which s20 ultra suffers...
Hello
My S20 Ultra comes to WondaMobile and is amazing (model 512/16GB)
Samsung Pay and Volte work perfectly.
Photos are fantastic.
I also have the Snapdragon version
Get it. I had the Exynos and it had a poor battery life plus other disadvantages

Hello, what is the CSC, what is the use of it and why someone would change it? Are the european languages supported in this version?

Can anyone double check and see if there's any issues with this listing? I'm in Canada, if that matters.
Just making sure it's the international version with global Rom, if either of those matter or if they can be fixed or changed by me.
Or any concerns? Just need a second opinion.

Just checked it out. It states it has global firmware. Oos 10.0.3 but doesnt state anywhere in the description the model of the phone. Judging from where it ships from Hong Kong i think its a chinese variant HD1900 with global firmware. Shouldnt be a hustle as this is the same setup i use in Africa unless you are looking for specific network bands
It's the Chinese version. The International version only has 128GB storage.
I would look elsewhere.
I'm not sure what's been sold where, but here's a complete list of 7T variants:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/OnePlus_7T#Variants
A phone sold as the "international version" is almost always an HD1900--that is, the Chinese version. The HD1900 has both Chinese and international ROM's available, and I think which one it comes with is a matter of where you buy it--but even if you buy the Chinese version, you can download and flash an international version of the ROM through the settings menu.
Ideally, in Canada, you want the HD1905, but it's no longer sold anywhere, and you're going to have a hard time finding it--I had to buy a used one. That being said, both the HD1900 and the HD1903 (the European variant) will work in North America. The lack of certain bands, especially on the 1900, may affect your coverage in specific situations, but I personally used an "international" version of the 3T in the U.S. (that was before they had a U.S. version) with no problems.
Note that the HD1907, while probably also suitable for your purposes, comes network-locked, and you'll have no way to unlock it unless you first activate it on T-mobile or a T-mobile MVNO--so avoid that one.
Hi, I was looking for the ROG Phone 6 in Amazon (US), and came across with 2 versions: Regular and Tencent ed. Between them there is an important price difference ($659 vs $899), and would like to know, what the differences are?.
If any user here owns Tencent version, could you please confirm if it supports Spanish language?. I saw only 1 video about it, and only had Chinese and English.
Thease are the phones:
Tencent: https://www.amazon.com/Phone-AI2201-128GB-Factory-Unlocked/dp/B0B91CS8W8
Regular: https://www.amazon.com/-/es/Teléfon...-desbloqueado-AI2201-16G512G-WH/dp/B0BC5B7XL6
Thanks for your help
I have this version, i.e. AI2201_A. Yes I can enable Spanish with various regional dialects also available. I believe mine has had the model code changed from CN to WW. I can't confirm all suppliers will do this.
I have questions myself and I haven't gotten very far with seller or ASUS.
My main question is, does the AI2201_A have 6GHz Wi-Fi soft or hard disabled? In China, 6GHz has been reserved for cellular use only. So, they would never need 6GHz Wi-Fi. I had hoped that by having the WW ROM on it, this would restore 6GHz... but it seems more like the radio has been disabled at hardware level. I'm hoping someone figures out how to re-enable it if it hasn't been burned off the board or something. From various analysis tools, the SoC is all there and the 6GHz radio should be too.
Otherwise, the differences only seem to be RAM and storage. I actually bought it to be my new DAP. I am not a gamer. I was just interested in aptX Lossless codec.
It will load the full WW ROM from asus.com but I suspect that OTA updates do not work. At least, I was not offered the October update when it shipped with July update. I was however able to manually load the full WW October 2022 downloaded from asus.com.
ASUS Support UK believes that these Global ROM-loaded AI2201_A are not officially provided by ASUS China. I'm not sure what to believe. Regardless, it works as it should. I would just like 6GHz Wi-Fi too but it's no big deal.
