Question Extract boot.img from TMOBILE Device - OnePlus 9 Pro

I'm trying to extract the boot.img from my T-Mobile OnePlus 9 Pro so I can root my device. I found a firmware dumper that doesn't work when the phone is running normally, but it does extract images when I boot the phone into TWRP. However, when I try to boot the boot image on my phone, it doesn't do anything, and I have to force-restart the phone. How can I get the boot.img from my device?

One way to get it is to connect your phone in edl mode with the stock Tmo msm tool. Press F8, select boot_a and press readback. The password is "oneplus" lowercase without quotes. That will read the boot img and save it to C:\ on your pc.
Then you can adb push it over to /sdcard/ and use magisk to patch that boot image. (Then adb pull it back to pc) Then fastboot boot boot magisk-patched-boot-you-just-made.img like normal. Are you doing fastboot flash or fastboot boot?

[Q] How to restore back to factory settings after using towel root

I have rooted my device using towel root which doesn't unlock the boot loader. I then used the twrp manager to install custom recovery. I am wondering how to restore everything back to factory as all the tutorials I have seen so far require an unlocked boot loader. Any help will be appreciated, thank you.

If I download a stock image from google and flash it from my nexus 7 using twrp will everything be restored to factory settings?
If the boot loader is locked does that mean I can just do a normal factory reset on the device and it will remove the recovery and root?

you have to install stock ROM by adb mode using fastboot command
you can't flash stock ROM via custom recovery.

Would you mind finding a link for me ? I have never encountered this before as I have always unlocked the bootloader to root but this time I used towel root which was different as explained above.
Doesn't the boot loader have to be unlocked to flash a ROM via adb?
try this and press thanks

nope,
Step 1: Download the ADB/Fastboot files and the
USB drivers for Windows based PC first. The the
latest factory image for your Nexus device can be
downloaded directly from Google’s website .
ADB/Fastboot – Mac , Windows
USB drivers for Windows
Extract the contents of the ADB/Fastboot ZIP file
inside a new folder called ‘google’ on your desktop.
Extract and transfer the contents of the factory
image inside this folder as well. The list of files will
include a ZIP file containing the codename of your
Android device, two files with “flash-all” names, and
a bootloader image file. All the extracted contents of
the factory image should be inside the same folder
as the ADB and Fastboot file, otherwise you will get
a file not found error.
Make sure to install the ADB drivers as well if you
are running a Windows based PC.
Step 2: Now, reboot your Nexus device in bootloader
mode. This is usually done by switching off the
device, and pressing the Volume down + Volume Up
+ Power button simultaneously. If that does not
work, try the Volume down + Power button
combination.
After the device has booted into bootloader mode,
connect it to your PC.
Step 3: Open a new Terminal or Command Prompt
window, and navigate to the ‘google’ folder that you
created in Step 1. Before we start flashing the
factory image, we need to make sure that your
Nexus device is being detected by the PC.
fastboot devices
If you are using a Mac, then you need to prefix a “./”
before every Fastboot command. So, the above
command will look something like this on a Mac -:
./fastboot devices
The above command should confirm if your device is
indeed being detected by your PC or not. If it is,
then proceed to the steps below. If not, repeat the
steps above again. Make sure that you have properly
installed the drivers and are inside the correct
folder.
If you are running Windows, copy-paste the following
command in the command prompt window -:
flash-all.bat
On a Mac, copy-paste the following command -:
./flash-all.sh
The script will then automatically flash the full
factory image on your Nexus device. Once the
factory image has been flashed, your device will
automatically reboot. Keep in mind that the first boot
might take some time so please be patient.
If the flash-all.sh script gives you a fastboot not
found error on your Mac, open up the file in Text Edit
and add a “./” before every fastboot command.
The flash-all script included in the factory image
might not work for all. It has always been pretty
unreliable and has only worked once for me in the
last 2 years. If you are in the same boat as me, you
will have to flash each partition manually on your
device. This is slightly cumbersome though.
The command to manually flash a partition via
fastboot is “fastboot flash partition filename.img”. In
the factory image that you extracted in Step 1, you
will notice there is another ZIP file. Extract the
contents of that ZIP file inside the ‘google’ folder.
Now, its time to manually flash the partitions to your
Nexus device. We will first begin with the bootloader.
fastboot flash bootloader filename.img
Then, we will flash all other partitions. They don’t
necessarily need to be in the same order as I have
listed them below. The names of the image files in
the factory image will clearly indicate the partition
they are intended for as well.
fastboot flash boot filename.img
fastboot flash radio filename.img
fastboot flash recovery filename.img
fastboot flash userdata filename.img
fastboot flash system filename.img
Thank you very much I will try this today.
I couldn't flash all and when I flashed the bootloader it came up with failed bootloader is locked?
Enter this command to unlock the bootloader:
fastboot oem unlock
After unlocking, you can run flash-all.bat (or run manual fastboot commands to flash).

Mixed Nougat/Oreo partitions

My Honor 7x (BND-L21) is totally bricked for the moment. I think there is Nougat and Oreo partitions at the same time because of Huawei Multi-Tool. Now I can't boot into recovery/eRecovery and the device stucks in the splash screen (bootloader unlocked). I think I have to rewrite all the partitions but I don't know how to do it... If anybody has a solution it will be greatly appreciated, I tried for 1 week!
If your device has a locked bootloader or frp follow these steps
First of charge your device for 1 hour in whatever mode it is..
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=11050483647474828964
Then download the service rom from the above link
Extract the contents of the downloaded file. Copy the dload folder from the extracted files to a sdcard.. (Directly to it not on any directory)
Insert the sd card..
Press all the buttons until the emui logo comes.
After the flashing reaches 100 percent.. Reboot the device unlock the oem in developer option..
Step-2 (Computer)
Download adb drivers and fastboot and install them.
Download complete ota package for your device (make sure you have the correct build number because service rom has a different build number ) (download size will be above 2gb)
Extract all downloaded zip files. Then using huawei firmware extractor extract all contents of the update. app files.. (one update. App file in each zip files)
Copy
kernel. Img
Ramdisk. Img
System. Img
Cust. Img
Version. Img
Vendor. Img
And version. Img to the folder having adb files. And version and vendor files to sd card
//Make sure that the complete ota package you downloaded matches the os before the software brick(noughat or oreo) //
Open the adb folder and do shift plus right click to open command window there and connect your device in fastboot mode to pc
Use the below commands one by one each after completion
Fastboot devices(show your device if its connected)
Fastboot oem unlock (code obtained from huawei unlock page)
#factory rest occur
After tha enter fastboot mode again
Step-3
Fastboot flash ramdisk ramdisk.img
Fastboot flash recovery_ramdisk recovery_ramdisk. Img
Fastboot flash system system. Img
Fastboot flash cust cust.img
Flash twrp using
Fastboot flash recovery_ramdisk twrp. img
Boot your device to recovery mode.( Volume up plus power)
Flash version. Img to version partition and vendor. Img to vendor partition
If you want stock recovery back
Boot into fastboot mode
Enter the command
fastboot flash recovery_ramdisk recovery_ramdisk. Img
And do a reboot
Relock bootloader upto your wish..
Better keep oem unlocked in developer options
If you have both unlocked bootloader and frp follow from step 2
I heard huawei discontinued the unlock page
In that case use dc unlocker to find the code
It will cost some money

Thank you I will try this but the dload method didn't worked when I tried 4 days ago...
I can't go into dload update mode (when I hold all the physical buttons the phone restarts and this appears (picture 1) and got stuck on this screen).
Also I don't know why but the phone doesn't charge, when I unplug it after 1h of charge, it shows the critical battery screen (picture 2) and it goes off...

If battery is not charging, then it will not take a flash.
You can maybe try remove back cover and unplug battery, then reconnect see if it will take a charge.
As for your question about resetting with fastboot. You can wipe data, and maybe format system also. But I don't think that will help you.
My friend is asking help. His situation is similar. The phone is honor 6x.
My opinion is that something wrong with boot partition. you can ask some body extract the boot image from another phone. Then run "fastboot flash boot_ramdisk boot.img".
Hope it helps

Describe problem please
As I recall it is as follows
** Phone working,
** Attempts some backup or restore using multi-tool
** This made phone no longer boot
**Possible that nougat images flashes to Oreo partition tanle (or visa- versa)
**Now no recovery or erecovery will even boot.
**Also phone shuts off with low battery as soon as cable unplugged.
If this is the case, I see no way forward. Because the battery needs to hold something in order for flashing to complete

[ROOT] [MAGISK] How to root

Just wanted to inform you, that rooting with Magisk works like a charm. Even without TWRP.
What you need:
Magisk Manager: https://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/magisk/official-magisk-v7-universal-systemless-t3473445
boot.img from your ROM (prepatched boot.img for CN_V10.0.11.0 ROM here: https://filebase.philipp.technology/filebase/index.php?page=Entry&entryID=19)
Unlocked Bootloader
ADB and Fastboot on your PC (Simple ADB & Fastboot Installer: https://filebase.philipp.technology/filebase/index.php?page=Entry&entryID=5)
Installation:
Install MagiskManager.apk on your Smartphone
---SKIP IF YOU USE THE PREPATCHED BOOT.IMG---
Put the unpatched boot.img on your phone
Open MagiskManager and Click "Install"
Select "Patch boot.img" and choose the boot.img with your file manager
Copy the "patched_boot.img" file on your PC
---CONTINUE HERE---
Now connect your Mix 3 to the PC and boot in fastboot mode (over the command line: adb reboot bootloader)
Navigate with the command line to your folder, where you saved the patched_boot.img
Now flash the patched_boot.img file with fastboot: fastboot flash boot patched_boot.img
If the flash is successfull you can reboot the phone with fastboot reboot
Open the MagiskManager and verify that Magisk is installed and your phone is rooted.
Thanks so much! Will try this out! Nice work!
Thanks, after i root my mix 3 can i flash the xiaomi.eu rom on it too without problems ?
Normally you don't need root to flash Xiaomi.eu ROM, just TWRP. But there is no TWRP yet. You could try "Flash Fire", but I don't know if it would work. Never did that before. If you try it make sure, that you have USB Debugging enabled and know how to use common tools like MiFlash etc.
If you are unexperienced wait for TWRP.

Stuck in Fastboot Mode (Recovery mode does not work)

Hello lads,
I have been having issues with my OnePlus Nord N100.
On my fault, I wanted to root with magisk using fastboot. Unfortunately, I had flashed boot a magisk.img which was not compatible with OnePlus Nord N100.
The phone is currently stuck in Fastboot Mode. I have tried several times to flash boot it back to its original boot.img, unfortunately it does not work.
Every time I try to go to Recovery Mode, it leads me right back to the Fastboot main menu. I can turn off the phone and reboot it with no issues.
I believe I have soft bricked it, and I need help recovering it back to it's original state, or better yet root it in a riskless way.
Here is a list of commands and techniques I have tried so far:
- Fastboot -w
- Fastboot erase cache
- Fastboot erase boot
- Fastboot erase boot_a
- Fastboot erase boot_b
- Fastboot boot boot.img (Ends up with a failure)
- Fastboot flash boot boot.img (Command is successful, but no changes for boot)
- Tried all combinations keys to go to Recovery Mode (Power button + Volume Down Button + Volume Up Button)
Thank you for helping me out if you can.

Hey mate,
Thanks for responding. Sorry for the late reply.
From what you had suggested, I did "fastboot --set-active=a" , "fastboot flash boot boot.img", and "fastboot reboot" (with the stock unpatched boot.img) the commands were successful once again, but there were no effective changes.
Afterwards, I did "fastboot --setactive-b", "fastboot flash boot boot.img", and "fastboot reboot" the commands were successful once more, and this time, I was finally able to go into recovery mode. On the other hand, in recovery mode I wiped the cache and erased everything, but unfortuantely I still could not boot into Android, even though I tried to flash boot the image once more.
Thank you for these commands, as I was at least able to recover recovery mode.
Any other suggestions maybe?

Hello,
I used the tool MSMDownload but unfortunately I was unable at all to boot into Qualcomm Edl mode, even though I have installed correctly all the drivers for Windows Qualcomm, and OnePlus USB drivers, and used the correct method (Volume Button UP and Down at the same time whilst connecting the phone via USB). I tried flash booting with the boot.img you gave me, but still no changes. I am still stuck in Fastboot.
If you had encountered the same issue back then, can you tell me the excat procedure you did please?
Thank you so much.
I was in the exact same situation after flashing boot.img from one plus nord by mistake.
It got so bad it was totally bricked and just got into EDL mode by holding down the up and down volume buttons and holding power on. Even the screen didn't work.
Once that started, MSMDownload tool from the N100 thread worked fine, you downloaded the proper package right?
Which model does it say on the back? This was BE2013.
I think solution for you is a fastboot image, I extracted the payload.bin to .img files and brought it back to life with it and rooted it with magisk.
The boot.img I uploaded here was from Oxygen OS 10.5.5.
If you have fastboot you should 100% be able to boot into EDL mode, just hold down the up and down volume buttons for long time and then the power button
Thanks

Thank you that's very kind of you. I think the only way to fix it by flash boot.img, but I have doubts because it does not work.
The only commands I am doing are "fastboot devices", "fastboot flash boot boot.img"
With the fastboot image you will be able to flash everything, it contains not only boot.img but system and etc. I managed to boot mine and bring it back to life by reflashing everyhing.
So the only thing I need to do is "fastboot flash boot ''.img" right?
Where can I get all the nesscary files?
And how did you manage to root it?
The fastboot image flashes all partitions, not just boot with stock Oxygen OS 10.5.5
What you need to do is run flash-all.bat from the archive and it will flash the entire os not just boot.img.
If you can't get to EDL mode, fastboot flash is the only solution. What model does it say in the back? This one was EUROPE BE2013.
Is your EU or Global device?
Archive is uploading still.
Thanks
The model is the correct one. BE2013, although it does not say EU or anything.
In the archive, I would just need to run flash-all.bat which flash boots all the nesscary images correct?
Thank you once agian.
2.55 GB file on MEGA
mega.nz
This is a fastboot image for OnePlus NORD N100 EU BE2013 device.
Extract it to a new folder, it contains fastboot in it.
Right click flash-all.bat and run as admin.
You can open the flash-all.bat file with notepad to check yourself there is nothing strange in it. I used a bat file from the forum that was fastboot image for OnePlus NORD and changed it to use the .img files for OnePlus NORD N100.
Contains Oxygen 10.5.5, once you bring it back to life (IF YOU HAVE THIS MODEL), you can use magisk to patch the boot.img and flash it via fastboot.
This is how I rooted it and it worked properly.
Please use it with caution and ensure your model matches! I can not guarantee it will work on other devices.
If you can't go to EDL mode, this is your way to go, but I don't know if flashing GLOBAL version will work.
Thanks

Question Need help rooting the Poco F3

Hello fellow XDA'ers
I have waited and unlocked the phone, running the MIUI 12.5.1.0 (RKHEUXM) the EU Official Rom that came with the phone, and was following the guide on how to root from NaldoTech, but i'm stuck, magisk can't patch any Firmware file i throw at it...
Don't know what i am doing wrong, i opened the zip files manually looking for the boot.img file but i cant seem to find it in any of the Firmwares i download from XiaomiFirmwareUpdater.
Also tried downloading the rom file and extracting the contents using the xiaomi-flashable-firmware-creator, but no luck with that either, throws some permission error at extracting the payload.bin
what can i do from here??
thanks in advance
Easy peasy
Steps
Download Adb and fastboot tool.
Or just download TWRP image and start CMD from there "the folder containing the twrp img" (in destination bar type cmd and press Enter) /the drivers should be installed and working properly ofc.
1- set phone in fastboot mode then plug it in to PC
2- Type: fastboot boot twrp.img (twrp here is the img file)
Then the phone will boot into twrp.
The phone will be shown in PC. Paste Magisk in the phone. Then go back and flash it using TWRP. Then reboot to system. And you're all done.

You're doing something wrong then.
Check all drivers are set up properly. Try flashing twrp then boot to it using Volume UP + Power button.
Make sure you download Nebrassy's twrp 3.5.10
Managed to do it, not with twrp tho, the way i intended originally, i found this payload extractor, went on miui and download latest package (on the phone), after that sent the file to pc and extracted the contents to the payload extractor tool, follow the tool's guide and Tadaaaa! got yoursef a boot.img.
after that was simple and follow the rest of the NaldoTech guide, which is sending the boot.img to phone, open magisk manager, click install, select the boot image to pach, wait couple seconds and done. After that just copy the magisk patched boot image to pc and turn off your phone, enter fastboot, and flash the boot.img in boot_a and boot_b.
and you are done boot the phone and open magisk app to see the installed confirmation

Good
Which version do you need?
Is this international version I should get to use in USA on T-Mobile to root the same way as you?
Amazon F3
I'm using Europe version currently on Global 12.5.6.0 (RKHEUXM)
