Hello there, i recently moved from a custom rom (Nameless AOSP, I did not like it) to oxygen os 11 (I was on oxygen 13 before Nameless), the phone is now rooted too. Im new to rooting and to custom roms. I must say the animations on OOS 11 feel way choppier compared to OOS 13. I dont know if I want to upgrade to OOS 13 again, and I have a few questions:
- Is there a way I can improve the animations (0.5 felt smoother on oos 13 than oos 11), with a magisk module or something?
- If I upgrade to oos 13, could i "downgrade" the camera app to the one I have in oos 11 (Hate that they disabled 48 mp in pro mode, I use it often)
Thanks

you can change the animation speed in the dev settings and downgrading the camera.apk to oos 13 is not easy because you can't just install an older version

Thats what I did, I have it at 0.5, but it feels very choppy, on oos 13 I had it at 0.5 too, and it felt smoother. I know that maybe its because of the optimization and etc, but I was wondering if there was something that could help me with that.
And about the camera, I know you cant install an older version, but is there an option to sideload or anything similar?

Prob is the camera.apk is in a partition with read only
You can this not easy unistall and install the other (camera.apk is a system apk and when you install this self is this not an system App) the downgrad fron camera apk is not easy and you will have with the older camera.apk have more bugs/probs on oos 13

Oh ok, understandable
You can't downgrade the camera app, it won't work.

Is it possible to get swipe gestures from 8.1.1 to 7.1.1 ? I want to use nought with gestures option available.
Nougat OOS need wipe gestures !!!
Maybe copy sistem apk and remplace system apk in 7.0
I'd like to know if the guestures be ported to Nougat as well. I'm also on android 7.1.1.
Specifically OSS 4.7.6
May I ask why you're using Nougat OOS instead of Oreo? I'm just genuinely curious.
There are apps on Google play which add gestures

used oreo for a week but the performance and battery life was poor as compared to Nougat[did a clean install], so reverted back to Nougat.
Don't like Oreo. Why fix something that's not broken. I just like the new feature of the swipe guestures.
Basically, it just changed the user interface of Coloros 12 to OOS12, which is a completely different system compared to the previous OOS, and within half an hour after I updated to OOS12, I was back to OOS11. It's a complete waste of time
i agree oos12 is ****ing dogwater lmao
Is it possible to install ColorOS 12 over OOS12?
Why did Oneplus ruin my new oneplus 9 pro with this crap. Now I am back to rooting and Rom'ing, in order to be on android 12 that isn't a complete disaster?
(rhetorical question).
I thought 11 was a downgrade from 10, as well. But nothing like this. And I could get 10 for 9 pro, since it released with 11

Any way to downgrade 12 to 11 ? Or i need to root and go for custom firmware?
Look here: https://forums.oneplus.com/threads/closed-downgrade-to-android-11.1533089/
Oxygen OS 12, or should I say Color OS? is a disaster. I went back to 11 after like 1 hour.

Use MSM tool to flash. The best way to go back clean.

For what it's worth, OOS 11 did not give me the performance on the 5G Network that OOS 12 is giving me now.
OOS 11 I simply edited the policy restrictions in order to access the 5G cell towers and the download speeds were 50% slower than a comparable 5G capable handset (iPhone 13 pro max, Motorola Razr 5G, One+ 8T 5G). Even after unlocking the bootloader, rooting and reapplying the modified policy restriction.xml the One+ 9 Pro on the OOS 11 had poor 5G download speed.
OOS 12 with unlocked bootloader, rooted, and using 5G switch (playstore app) the 5G download speeds improved greatly. I would say they are 50% faster than same handset on OOS 11. I cannot access engineering mode and therefore modify the policy restriction.xml file like on OOS 11, but given the faster download speeds I'll take it for now. For what it's worth, 5G switch would not work on OOS 11.
Another great option that OOS 12 has is a separate volume level for Ringtone and Text Tone. I NEED to be able to hear my text tone alert (which is usually a very short burst) all the while keeping the volume of the ring tone down so that I can take my time to analyze who is calling without disturbing those around me. OOS 11 combines ring tone and text tone under one forced volume setting, which blows imho.
I personally don't find the interfaces of the two much different, and cannot say that I have noticed any real speed differences or battery consumption pros and cons. I do like the graphical design of OOS 11 over OOS 12, but that can be improved by using different Launchers if that is your thing.
Cheers
Buyer beware - the latest OTA for OOS 12 comes with (apparently) an encrypted-ish bootloader that refuses to boot patched/rooted kernels or recoveries. I learned this the hard way on my 8t. So if you want keep root, it's MSM and custom ROM time.

Nothing new and nothing to be worried about. You need to disable boot verification by flashing a blank Vbmeta.img, and after that everything works like it's out of the box.
I want to buy a OnePlus 7t but I heard there are bugs in the android 11 version.so I don't know whether to downgrade it android 10 or to keep it in android 11.

Android 11 for OnePlus7T is a joke.
I was using 11.0.5.1 and had only problems.
Main problem is phone volume in general (a way quieter than on OOS10)
Full volume and you can barely hear notifications (so annoying!!!)
It is noticeable that the phone is running slower
The fingerprint reader responds a bit slower
Originally built-in Dolby Atmos have NO equalizer!!! (OOS10 without root you can install DolbyAtmos with Equalizer which gives you really powerfull sound)
I would stay with OOS 11 if it would bring out normal volume like OOS 10 but not this time.
As for me, personally, it's NOT worth updating.
I was able to downgrade to LOVELY OOS10 so if someone needs help with it write me PM.
hello everyone,
after upgrading to Android 12 and literally wanting to throw away my phone after that, I decided to go back to ol' reliable custom ROMs.
Just rolling back to pre-Oppo OOS would be absolutely enough and I loved my Oneplus 8 Pro, really regret giving it away, but I want to see what's on XDA and maybe I can find something even better.
So I just wanted to hear your input on which ROM you would go for with the 9 Pro, would you roll all the way back to OOS 11 with nameless or Lineage or go for a 12 based ROM because the improvements are worth it?
What are you personally running and why?
Im on the last nameless build based on oos12, and its the best rom for me, its the most fluid, the most stable, and It does some 6 hours of screen, the only flaw is the lack of oos camera, unlike previous oneplus in custom roms

Nothing changed. Settings looks ****tier and Gboard has an arrow below it/raised up. That's about it.
Staying with arrowos, thanks for the feedback.
Good choice. The update to MIUI 14 only adds a few stuff, and most of them are not useful (at least for me). The only good thing about this update is that it asks for notification access on app install, but that's already baked into Android 13 and not MIUI's invention.
There aren't any performance improvements from what I can tell. Games are still in low resolution. Honestly I expected more from this update, MIUI has gone downhill.
