Question How to upgrade SD 860 to SD 8 gen1? - Xiaomi Mi Pad 5

Hi, Is there nany way to upgrade mi pad5 SD 860 to SD 8 gen1 without root? Or it can be only possible with root? Or can we go to Xiaomi official outlet and tell them to upgrade it to sd gen1? Is there any way??

You cannot upgrade processor on any mobile device as of today

No, the CPU is hardware. Not software like root

You can download one, but it's very expensive

I am regretting Buying mi pad5 tbh, I feel like my youtube videos are pixelated even I am playing it on 1080p, Also moslty games are runnning on lower resolution and pixelated graphics, That's why I thought there could be way of Improving its performance in games and videos

It depends.
How good are your SMD soldering skills?

I am not good at hardware or soldering skills, Also I have never ever rooted any device in my life, I was thinking of rooting mi pad5 to fix pixelated graphics and increase performance in games but I am thinking to switch to ipad pro m1

It was a joke, you can't upgrade the CPU on an SoC.
If you root it, you can do various things to improve performance.

The only way to increase the performance significantly is by using custom rom such as ArrowOS. Keep in mind that everything has its own pros and cons

I needed a laugh

Bro it has a 1440p screen, you need to put it on higher resolution.

gaming performance

Can someone tell me if this device really cant play mobile legends? I set everything to low even downloaded game tuner to lower texture the game still stutters. This didnt happen to my huawei p8 lite 2017 with same gpu but only 2 cores. Is the exynos chipset that bad?
I guess I need to rid off this device.
Hello,
I tried the game and I had no lag, this mobile can run many games on the play store, but must not forget that it remains a mid-range.
I have a Redmi note 4x here. Its also a mid ranger but the performance gaming wise is not even close. I guess having a custom rom really makes a difference.
It works fine here dude. Your device is defective is it. Under warranty? I play on highest settings.

Bad performance and bad frame rate on gaming

One of my friend has the one+ 5t and was playing Sonic Dash, the rendering was so fast and so smooth, it looks like 60 fps, i tried the same game on my Honor 8 Pro as well but sadly, the frame rate was not as smooth and fast as the One+ 5t... it looks like around 30 - 40 fps on the Honor 8 Pro.
Is it a hardware limitation on the Honor 8 Pro ? (the game takes so much ressources that the hardware cannot follow) or, the game is not optimized for the Honor 8 Pro ? (the game doesn't explore all of the potential from the Honor 8 Pro's hardware).
Kirin chipset has always been about one step behind..
even when you compare with Exynos that uses Mali, Exynos chipset has got extra cores compared to Kirin.
but yes, sometimes it also requires optimisation from developers.
having said that, do remember than Kirin processor on the honor8Pro is kinda old. iirc, it's a chip that was launched at the end of 2016..

I have Oreo, and you can change resolution in battery settings, even though i can set resolution to low (HD or Full HD instead of 2k), it doesn't mean games' performances will increase a lot.
In Sonic Dash for example, whatever resolution i use, the frame rate is still low and bad...

Then its the game fault cause dont optimise for our Mali GPU. As for other games i'm using, change res to 1080p definitely increase fps and become smoother.

kirin 960 uses Mali g71- MP8 gpu instead bof the MP20 core version. That was a big mistake in my opinion. Samsung used MP20 in their Exynos which gives it a nice boost.
And also 2k resolution make it harder.
Lowering the resolution doesn't help as it is an IPS display rather than Amoled.
Besides optimisation sometimes does matter
Frame drops and Performance issue
This is a issue with all of the honor 8pro , there are lot of frame drops which are quite annoying and all the apps are not optimised . When I compared my honor 8pro with Moto X force which has Snapdragon 821 , all the apps in Moto X force
are buttery smooth which is very addictive and cool ,but my honor 8 pro even with this
Hi Silicon Kirin 960 it performs disgusting , there are frame drops and sometimes it sikps them ..... Disappointed with my purchase
Bad software optimisation, and worst part is rom development support is dead
On paper and benchmarks kirin 960 is a beast but when it comes to real world usage, the processor is sh*t. Too much frame drops, ui lags and glitches everywhere. I hate this phone and regret my decision to buy it over oneplus. No doubt that this processor is fast but its not smooth. When I compared general ui navigation, my zenfone was much smoother despite of having Snapdragon 625.

60 FPS Games (Iphone Like) Custom rom/kernel HELP....

Hi Guys,
I just want to ask if there is a custom rom/kernel that has overclock tweak or something to increase the graphics of this phone. Initially, I thought that SD 636 will support 60fps in mobile legends (Iphone like Graphics) but it appears that It only has 40FPS (I already made the high frame rate tweak on mobile legends). It's my fault because I did not research before buying this phone. I was checking if there is a custom rom or kernel that has a tweak on overclock GPU/CPU. I need this because I have a channel on youtube, It's Mobile Legends gameplays and I want to produce real 60fps videos. If you will reply buy iphone instead or buy blackshark. My apology, I dont have that money to purchase one, as my channel is just a small channel. So im trying to look for a work around. Thanks in advance guys.

You can find a thread like this in probably every device forum here in xda. There is always someone unhappy, and even in your thread there are MORE people saying performance is really good than people crying about bad performance. Also PUBG mobile runs better on RN5 than iphone 6, dont know about other games as i dont play them, but there is plenty of material on youtube.

Well, I think I trusted SD 636 that much, I made few research on this phone and pretty much they all say gaming is good. I just lack the very important one, the 60fps support. This phone is really great, no problem at all, It's just that I want to produce a very good videos for my subscribers in youtube, that's why I was looking for a work around to have 60fps on mobile legends, Also maximizing setting on Mobile legends game itself (High Frame Rate and High Quality Display, all setting high) game is smooth, but when I use a screen recorder, that's when FPS drop happens.

Well i think its only logical, thats a graphic intense game, recording also takes away resources, and then there is SD636, which is a perfectly fine SoC, but in the end its still only budget/mid tier SoC. For such heavy tasks you would want to look in flagship tier, even if a year or two old. For example Leeco Le Pro 3 has sd 821, and it costs around 130euros, gaming performance would be way better, but everything else is worse compared to RN5.

What games on S20 Ultra plays in 120fps mode?

I've tried few games like Real Racing 3 and Shadow Legends which both ran on 120fps on ROG Phone 2, but they only show 60fps on S20 Ultra. so was wondering what games supports S20 Ultra 120hz display.
I believe Asphalt 9 does. How do you check at what refresh rate the game will play at?
Edit: found this list.
every game if you use this
Pokemon GO definitely

Have you tried dolphin?
Lol been asking everyone to test this.
Not sure if they have a 120 fps mode but would be nice to see if it actually runs games.
If it does then anything on the play store will be a breeze

Really? Will check it out. There's a Mali optimized version.
The windwaker on GameCube ran perfect on the oneplus 5, perfect when I removed the page file on the P20 Pro and added performance mode via magisk (utterly unplayable without those tweaks)
Literally no settings would allow the pro to run those games..
If the 77 can run GameCube games and perhaps Wii then I'll be impressed.
I know the 865 is something special and this is Samsung's last chip is making, just hope they optimize it, for £1400 it should be able to run anything.
I think I'm going to find it's bottleneck, my money's on the GPU.

Ok, 400$ isn't that much due GPU shortage...
GTX 1660 which might be available and within your price range
RX580 or 590 but slower than the 1660
RTX 2060 if you can get one used
RTX 3060 which is capable of more, but surely out of stock everywhere or too expensive depending on the shop

... That $400 won't cover, just, the CPU; and, btw., a 60 Hz monitor is ANCIENT. If you've purchased this new, 100% you're getting ripped off: check the production date, it may say something like "2006". :$

Onboard GPU which comes with 3400G.
450W is underpowered( aka. won't have pins) to power any GPU even the likes of 5500 XT(which is decent 1080p GPU but unavailable due to pandemic).
if you have normal budget then go for rx 5600 xt same as mine working best
