Downgrade to A10 - Redmi Note 8 Questions & Answers

Since upgrading to A11 l'm having a lot trouble with the phone freezing from time to time and I don't like the way apps are handled.
I'm using crdroid 8.10 and still have these freezes.
I prefer when the phone was running on A10 (miui 12). So I would like to downgrade to miui 12 and probably flash a custom rom, (crdroid 6).
I know some people will say why don't you want to have the most recent firmware. But new doesn't mean better. I prefer a reliable phone without glitches even if it's not the newest.
Thanks for the help

arb3, should I flash arb4 firmware?

hi,
I'm on arb3 since whyred switched to arb4. since then I always updated with non arb firmware. right know I'm on non arb pie firmware while having an oreo based rom. I noticed all the talk about new pie based roms and how need pie firmware, while oreo based roms doesn't work with pie. so I got confused because my roms work with orea based. then I read this post: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=79630538&postcount=1586
now I'm wondering what to do. keep arb3 the way I always had or should I update to a arb4 oreo firmware for a oreo based rom, maybe it will fix my long lasting wifi dc problems.
switch to arb4, i mean we have may 2019. Theres also oreo arb4 firmware out there. Trust me, you will never switch back to Nougat. Go with the progress.

I switched the moment arb4 came out and never had single issue.. Always laughed at paranoia ridden individuals here avoiding arb4 at all costs lmao.

No use sticking with arb3, it's so outdated now, i litterally have no problems with arb4 fw, for pie based fw, battery backup is probably a bit worse than oreo fw based.
Yeah, you won't have any problem with arb4 unless u want to use few month old roms (which is stupid anyways). Arb4 appeared in 8.7.6 global beta/9.5.19 global stable, so u have high range of roms to choose between.
Alright I switched to arb4 latest stable oreo, now I will check wifi for 1 week and report if it changed something. Phone seems more smooth but could be just a placebo.
With this wifi issue are u sure it's not at ur end? I never had something like this, tho i only use wifi at home.

Xiaomi has just released a stable pie build for closed test yesterday, you can try it.

Is it worth updating from Miui 9.5.19.0 to Miui 11.0.3.0?

Hey guys! So I've had this phone for a year and 8 months. I initially got it on Miui 9.5.19.0 then almost instantly upgraded to Miui 10.0.3.0 and didn't like what it did to my camera quality so I unlocked my bootloader and downgraded back to 9.5.19.0 and been on it since. However my phone is really feeling and looking really outdated now and I'm missing out on so many features (including dark mode and Android pie). I would like to stay on stock as I don't really want to run custom ROMs at the moment. I was really just wondering is it worth upgrading to Miui 11.0.3.0? I love the interface and all the new features but I'm not entirely sure about the camera and performance. Thank you!
Been on MIUI 10.3.5 eu version ever since it came out, performance wise its a tad bit slower to MIUI 9. But on terms of looks its on par with MIUI 11. I had the luxury of using both MIUI 11 and 12, and trust me, other than some visual improvements and minor feature improvements, the upgrades seems to have been killing performances on this little device. So, won't advice you to upgrade to MIUI 11 or even 12. If you wanna flash something, get the MIUI 10 stable or last beta version. A reminder, once you load one of the newer versions of MIUI, you might not be able to go back to MIUI 9.
Question, how much camera quality drop did you notice between the MIUI 10 and MIUI 9?
Installing Xiaomi.eu rom will give the best possible experience of Miui 11

is android 10 god enough to update from android 9 yet?

Hello, I have been running a rooted mi a2 lite 10.0.9 for a while. I'm wondering if android 10 on mi a2 lite is good enough to upgrade to after months of its release. My current set up flashes a black screen from time to time when im in video calls in whatsapp or snapchat. I want to be stock, if i choose to upgrade i will keep the device stock(no root, no magisk, no custom kernel) , but ive heard so many problems with Android 10 that im not sure if its worth it.

There are still a tone of bugs and stability issues to be fixed, you can find more info here and here, I kinda' gave up on this device and don't use it as "smart" anymore. The problem is that most of those bugs are day1 bugs (for those who could update and didn't end up bricked). 10.0.9 isn't september update? I suggest you install the latest January Android9 patch and wait... I decided to be part of the Android 10 test and report bugs as fast as I can, so we can have them fixed... but it seems we're 6 months into Android 10 and nothing good came to this device.

Bugs Xiaomi.eu Miui 12 Android 11 version on global version of redmi note 9s

I strongly advice anybody to not update their redmi note 9s Curtana to the latest Xiaomi.EU version of Miui 12 based on Android 11.
I had several, quite nerve wrenching bugs even though I clean flashed.
-telephone: I could not be heard and the other side could not be heard on the phone. I guess this had something to do with root with magisk as I tried out my phone after flashing the update and it worked, but after having set up the phone with all apps and root, the said problem arose
- picture in picture mode got extremely buggy and the overlay sometimes hid the video box and made the whole screen unresponsive
- the phone feels quite slow
I downgraded to the last Miui 12 version based on Android 10 and all is fine again.
As I said if these things above are things you'd need often on your phone I'd suggest you not to update.
My phone is joyeuse global rn9pro and Im in the same boat.
How exactly did you downgrade without loss of data?

What are the brick chances on a Redmi note 8 pro? Which rom would you recommend?

I am running a EU (i think) note 8 pro with a global 12.5.7 official rom, it has way too many glitches i don't want to deal with and i wanted to change rom, i once tried and bricked it, i recovered it a bit after and that-s how i got 12.5.7, what's the safest way to mod it and what rom is the safest? I was looking at either CrDroid or CorvusOS, which one would you recommend?
To be fair, I have the stock rom, version 12.5.7 and is the most stable version I ve encountered. I have not considered any custom ROM yet because they all seem to lack behind the stock rom. Sure, you get better looks and the vibe of stock debloated rom. Then again you lose a lot of features, Bluetooth range is abysmal and performance is worse compared to stock. And don't get me started on hard bricking risks. My advice would be to make a full reset and stick to the stock rom.

1/You can find many free unbrick hardbrick videos for Redmi note 8 pro. And it's simple to unbrick (in my opinion).
2/You got brick because you didn't follow flash guide.
Example:
- You flash 12.5.x firmware based rom when you are using Miui 12.0.x
- You didn't format data or format data error
- ...
3/Each custom rom has it own support group in each thread. If you want recommend, join there to ask or try it yourself.
Pixel experience imo is good I used to use ppui but rip
