Question Rooting and warranty - OnePlus 11

As the owner of OnePlus 7 Pro I have to ask.
Does rooting OnePlus 11 (Global, European version) violate the manufacturer's warranty?

(Official Support Answer) Rooting your Oneplus 8 Series DOES NOT VOID IT'S WARRANTY
Hi, I am an ex OP3 user who switched to a OP8P recently and I was going through all the forums related to OP 8 Series to find out if rooting this device will void my warranty or not (It didn't void the warranty of OP3 back in 2016 and I was...

Are You serious? Did You link to the quote from forum from 2017? And from someone from here where last post came from 2020?
These info are outdated and not trusted...

So root leads to loss of warranty or not? In the case of OnePlus 7 Pro, the root did not violate the manufacturer's warranty, but when I search for information about it in the case of OnePlus 11, the informations are contradictory.
How is it now that Oppo has acquired OnePlus?

I think it all depends to be honest. I know back in the day I had a OnePlus that died a couple days after root (natural causes). Had no trouble getting a replacement. I've also had pixel 6 pro die after root and again, no issue with replacement. I know the direction of OP has changed since OPPO merge, but I'd have to imagine they'd still honor warranty replacements unless it's something caused directly by user incompetence.

In the meantime, I wrote to OnePlus support and it turned out that OnePlus 11 (bought in European distribution) loses its warranty if it is rooted

Heh, the company which bring users and were custom ROM friendly now is a big mistake. Always You can unroot and lock bootloader before You sent to service... I if remeber well unlock and root made some unreversible operations and official service could check it

a fix could be that to change the usb port on the phone (or something else)
why no warranty? every eletronic product have 2 year warranty (at least here in europe..maybe 1 year in some other country in the world)..and since this phone come out in november 2011, u can of course have warranty, even without receipt..for sure

He/she mentioned it's bought from Craigslist; that should explains the warranty part. Also, all your default 2-year warranties are limited warranty. Read the terms.

sorry but i don't fully understand why from craigslists there is no warranty..should not be related..
is the same if u buy a phone from ebay without receipt isn't it? u can have warranty for new products...also without receipt
u can get warranty from samsung simply because is not possible that u bought a galaxy nexus more than one year ago, so if it is defective, u can get warranty
its too problematic for me to explain it in english, but is like that
Some warranties stipulate proof of purchase. Which means brand new and from an authorized retailer usually.
Sent from my Nexus in Texas.
The missing part of andQlimax's question is that warranties and consumer protection laws are MUCH stronger than those on the other side of the Atlantic.
In the US, warranty can be denied for any number of reasons.

To answer your question directly, I've yet to hear anything specifically about USB fixes in the next release of Android for the Galaxy Nexus.

I broke oneplus 3 touch screen

Any help would be much appreciated. Story starts like this. I purchased brand new OP3 before 8 days. Today accidentally my daughter dropped the phone and broke the digitizer(touch screen). It felt from the couch on the tile floor(less than 15 inch height) Now i am stuck with the new phone and broken touch screen.
I did got in touch with the Oneplus customer service yesterday in USA. They have repair facility in Texas. ****ONEPLUS WILL NOT COVER THE REPAIR UNDER THE WARRANTY AND THEY WILL NOT SELL ORIGINAL REPLACEMENT PARTS TO THE CUSTOMERS OR DO ANY REPAIRS OTHER THAN THE WARRANTY .SO BEWARE++++
On eBay there is couple of sellers from China that sell digitizer`s(touch screen bundled with display) but aftermarket parts for the phone are not as good as original.
I did not buy extended warranty for the phone when i purchased the phone itself.
Where can i buy original parts? Any help is much appreciated
If that does not work you can contact customer support of one plus. Read the reddit link below

That's why I say you get what you pay for. It is important for people to know that the $400 only gives you what comes in the package. You are on your own once they get your money.

Is it oneplus fault then his daughter breaks his phone? What do you think should they do now, send a new one on warranty?
Let it repair or buy a new one but don't blame oneplus for the mistakes of yourself and your daughter.

Well, as far as I understand it's not possible to get it repaired at all, if it's not covered under warranty, which is pretty lame, actually.

Do you even read what he said or you talk off your arses? He cannot find any replacement items anywhere. Buy a whatever other brand device, you will easoly find replacement parts. Oneplus doesn't sell any because they want to force you to buy the extra accidental warranty. He doesn't expect OP to pay for the damage that he caused.

Someone on the OnePlus forums smashed their OP3 as well. OnePlus quoted them around €90 to get it repaired which is extremely reasonable.

Yes my rude friend, unlike you I am able to read and understand also. So read post 1 and 2 and 3 again and then try to understand what you have read.
1.Why should he open a PayPal conflict? He paid and got his device. That's it.
2.Why should One+ sell parts to private persons? There is always the option to send the device to one of their repair center.
3.OP wrote that there are oem parts available on eBay but he don't want to buy one of them.

Can u please tell me where I said he should get a new device if he breaks it, or even get it repaired for free? I am really curious about that. All I said is, that I as far as I understood, there was no way to get it repaired at all.
On a different note: As it was mentioned afterwards, it's apperently possible to get it repaired after all by oneplus. (for a reasonable price). So that's fine with me.
I guess there is a reason they offer 2 year coverage for $80 USD when you check out.

You guys misunderstood the whole story.I want my phone fixed and I want to pay for the new screen that my daughter broke. I want OEM screen, not some aftermarket garbage from china(ebay). When i send out my phone on repair I know the warranty will not apply. This is why i send my phone to them to get an estimate whatever and to approve repair whatever the cost is. But i just got the phone back with the letter from them..bla bla bla. They never offer repair and an estimate for repair.

If your phone is still under warranty, you can send it back for warranty. Or you can choose to do it yourself. This is not difficult. This is a Oneplus 3 screen replacement video. You can learn to replace your Oneplus 3 screen with the video.

Broken screen due to fall is not covered in warranty unless you have taken the extra accidental repair option and paid for it.
That apart, the OP was asking for places to purchase the original screen, not how to change the screen.

Oneplus RMA horror story

So, i had my Oneplus 3 not booting so i opened an RMA ticket 26 days ago. After dozens of emails they accepted to have my device repaired. DHL picked up my device and after 3 days it was with Arvato for repair. The motherboard was found faulty and so they performed an in-warranty motherboard replacement. What happened though after that? My device shipped from Greece for repair and Oneplus after repairing it, sent it to the Netherlands to an unknown person there. It's been 2 weeks now since the incident and the only answer i get from Oneplus is that the issue has been escalated and that someone is working on it. What can i do? any similar experiences? It really feels like nothing is done and that my device was lost in the Bermuda triangle with oneplus staying idle...

This can littery happen with all devices bro. Motorola is not even reachable for support/replacement. Samsung is insanely expensive... If you are in the EU I would claim the rights you have.

yep the thing is that other brands like Samsung or Apple, wouldn't keep their customers without a device during that time. They would offer a replacement or something. Oneplus did nothing in that regards, they just stayed idle saying a colleague is working on this. What should a customer do when it comes to that? Buy a new device and incur new costs? That's not proper customer support.

When I sended back my old S3 they said that volume buttons do not fall under warranty, I had to pay €50 to get the phone back.. We all have had good and bad experiences with support from different brands. I don't think it actually matters if you have an. Samsung, Huawei or Oneplus device.
Samsung would leave you stranded, just saying

Oneplus 5t lava red

Hey guys, i know the lava red edition is only available in china soon.
Do you think there is any chance we can get this edition in europe?
I thought, maybe ordering it through vpn??
Also im interested when this edition will be released.
Any help would be appreciated
I'm sure you'd be able to see the red OnePlus with a vpn but I don't think you'll be able to ship it out to where you actually are. I could be wrong though
Living in China, I ordered mine this sunday.
Do you think it's exactly the same build than the normal 5t?
I mean, can I install the O2 OS of the normal 5t version in it?

Will you use a VPN for your shipment address too? I don't think that will work. Still in Europe you will have 2 years warranty if it has CE (i doubt china versions has it)
Two years ago, I did buy a Mate 8 in China. But Huawei Switzerland told me, they can not offer waranty for this device, because I did buy it in China and not in Switzerland. Therefore it would be interessting to know how Oneplus is handling waranty with devices which are bought outside of your home country.

OnePlus phones from O2 UK

Just wondering if the bootloader is unlockable if you had a OnePlus 5T from O2 UK? Considering buying the 6 through them if they make it available, but I've had 2 Sony phones from them that had "bootloader unlock allowed : no" which meant no way to root them at all, ever.
Also any bloatware installed? Like tether entitlement check or O2 splash screen at boot?
I bought mine from O2 and it's all good. Only Sony devices have that bastardized bootloader BS that has that "rooting status not allowed" set to false when you buy from carriers. Other OEMs should be fine, just stay away from Sony if you're planning on getting the device on a monthly contract and want to modify it
OnePlus devices do not have bloatware nor carrier-specific firmware.

O2 OP5Ts are completely stock totally 100% unlocked to any SIM, absolutely able to root/unlock bootloader and priced the same as from OP. Only thing is that O2 force you to buy a £15 topup if buying off contact.
Thanks for your replies, that's good to know! I'm gonna call them and see if I can thrash out a deal.

I work for an O2 Franchise and most of the store's don't have the Oneplus 5T in stock anymore. Might find the ocassional one left over that hasn't been sold. The Oneplus 6 will be available to buy on pay as you go as of Tuesday 22nd of May at any O2 Shop.
The price difference is very little so I would honestly recommend to get a Oneplus 6 if your going to be buying one now since the price is almost the same in the UK at o2 between the Oneplus 5T and the Oneplus 6. I can confirm they are unlocked out of the box, have absolutely no software/firmware or apps pre-installed other than the stock oxygen os one's you get installed by oneplus themselves. I got a Oneplus 5T from O2 and have a unlocked bootloader and root too so that shouldn't be a problem either.

I have the 5T I got it directly from OnePlus, I'm thinking of upgrading to the 6, but wondering if I should wait for the 6T.
Hello there. I'm having a problem. I have a OnePlus 5T from O2 UK. The bootloader is unlocked, but earlier last week I tried flashing an update with TWRP. Unfortunately, it went a little wrong and I ended up wiping data with TWRP commands. Now, my sdcard (Internal storage) just has files with random letters and numbers, no more of the usual folders with files. I now have a partually bricked device, meaning that bootloader and TWRP would work, but I can't really flash anything because of my sdcard issue! I've also tried ADB sideload with no luck. Can someone please kindly tell me how to fix the sdcard problem, if there even is a way of fixing it? Please describe the process with command line if possible, as I can't use graphical interfaces due to me being blind.
Many thanks for the help, it'll be nice to get some use out of my OnePlus 5T once again.
Tobias
PS, I ended up wiping system, dalvik and cache too so I could do a clean flash.

I can confirm you can unlock the bootloader on oneplus 5T

There were communications sent out to stores that while current prices are about roughly £30 more than buying from oneplus directly however they will actually be adjusted at some point tomorrow to be the same as buying the phone from Oneplus website directly. However if you buy from O2 on pay as you go, they do require a £10 or £15 top up to be taken with the phone, this can not be avoided or cancelled off the till unless your an pay as you go customer already then the store advisors can do something called a pay as you go UPGRADE which bypasses the top up requirement.
I personally originally got a Oneplus 3 (NOT 3T) from Oneplus.net and this was before O2 and Oneplus even decided to make a exclusive UK partnership and now have the 5T from o2, I will in future including the Oneplus 6 always end up getting them from O2 Directly because that mean's if I have any hardware issues I can send the phone away to an O2 UK Repair centre and get it fixed free within 5 working days. With Oneplus you have to send your phone to them and their nearest repair centre seem's to be in Poland I believe and will most likely take alot longer than 5 working days to resolve but more importantly while I love and am a fan of Oneplus Phones ,as a brand I think they don't have the highest best reputation when it comes to handling customer service, repairs and order queries. I have heard some crazy horror stories out there with that I would just avoid if I had the option. If the option wasn't available then it is what it is. But since the option of avoiding going through Oneplus Customer Service is present I'll take it.
For specific detailed pricing information check the official website;
https://www.o2.co.uk/shop/oneplus/6
(Please bare in mind any and all info I am writing here is my own personal opinion and does not reflect the O2 as a whole.) Gotta be careful in case someone takes what you say out of context or assumes your speaking on behalf of your employer even though your just stating your own opinion and sharing information that you are aware of.

If all else fails than this is a life saver (phone saver), but please read everything on the instructions how to use that tool, its only a less than 10 minutes procedure and the phone comes back to life, hope this helps, cheers.
Um, thanks, but what is this phone saving tool called? Can I have a link to it and maybe how to use it? It would be very nice to get my phone back in properly working order. It's currently stuck on just a sec... Also, is there a way of making my SD card show proper files, IE, wiping data again or mounting the sd card as read/write?
Thanks for the help

There you go,

sorry but oneplus 5t doesn't take an external sd card? have you actually got a oneplus 5t or some other phone?, please don't flash anything if you don't have a oneplus 5t, cheers
Yo.
Sorry about that. About the SD card thing, I mean internal storage, it's just that ADB and my root browsers call it sd card.
hope that tells you more
And thanks a lot for the link! I can't wait!

My O2 op5t has no O2 bloat or apps . You wouldn't know it was from O2 as there is nothing to suggest it
